Lets win this one!!!!!!!! and the next......

Posted by: lurgee5177 | December 23, 2007 7:05 PM

During the Fox game, it was mentioned that they expect one of those 4PM games to move to prime time.

Posted by: jrizzo | December 23, 2007 7:07 PM

So is it now official? Two wins and we are in?

Posted by: SwiftIT | December 23, 2007 7:07 PM

the saints win, the saints win...!!!!

We need this one vs the vikes....

Posted by: wwan | December 23, 2007 7:08 PM

The NBC game is scheduled to be NYJ vs. KC: a real barn burner. If the Skins win tonight, should we expect a Sunday night game at Fedex?!?!? Can life get any better?!?!??!

Posted by: jrizzo | December 23, 2007 7:10 PM

No. Dallas has already played its maximum 6 night games. Can only move to 4:00.

Posted by: LiberalMike | December 23, 2007 7:12 PM

F all this two win talk. We need a win tonight. We can worry about Dallas next week.

Hail!!

cosmofla

Posted by: squashmo | December 23, 2007 7:12 PM

It is official. Win out and we're in.

Posted by: PDiddy | December 23, 2007 7:13 PM

Lets hope Kozlowski's ready to play, because TODD made some big plays to Yoder the last couple weeks.

Posted by: LiberalMike | December 23, 2007 7:13 PM

Did you guys see the commercial for New American Gladiators? I am in love with the Asian gladiator. lol

Posted by: jm220 | December 23, 2007 7:13 PM

You and I don't actually play! We don't need to be focused to WATCH the games. I just want to know if I can stop thinking about all the what ifs

Posted by: SwiftIT | December 23, 2007 7:14 PM

Nervous, nervous, nervous, nervous :-)

Posted by: PDiddy | December 23, 2007 7:14 PM

Speak for yourself, I need to be focused to make sure I don't spill tequila down my shirt.

Posted by: PDiddy | December 23, 2007 7:15 PM

That means you focus on the drinks, not the Vikes!

Posted by: SwiftIT | December 23, 2007 7:16 PM

Check out ruinromo.com!!

Posted by: squashmo | December 23, 2007 7:16 PM

PDiddy,

I'm with you, trying not to spill the ketel!

Posted by: squashmo | December 23, 2007 7:20 PM

sams3, are you trying to jinx us by dissing another team??? Not to take up for the Eagles but they almost beat the Pats (we did not come close) and the Cowboys. It will be an absolute miracle for us to make the playoffs.

Posted by: Lisa_R | December 23, 2007 04:57 PM

It must be really nice to bring it to the patriots so well. I'm sure the skins players will give the eagles aka the westbrooks alot of credit for that win when the skins are playing in 2 weeks and the eagles are watching the game from the couch. Getcha pop corn ready!

Posted by: sams3 | December 23, 2007 7:27 PM

BTW, just a quick observation from my trip to the mall today.

Best spot? The little tables and chairs setup right outside Victoria's Secret.

All this pre-game filler is boring me to tears. I'm going to play a quick game of...

...cribbage.

Kidding, kidding...

Posted by: PDiddy | December 23, 2007 7:28 PM

You can lose by 3 or you can lose by 42 still just a notch in the pats bedpost. The only difference is the eagles won't have another chance at them this year, unless they are visiting philly for their superbowl party.

Posted by: sams3 | December 23, 2007 7:29 PM

NBC has to have the worst pre game show in NFL history.

Posted by: jm220 | December 23, 2007 7:30 PM

sams3, you are totally acting like a jerk and jinxing us!

Posted by: tennis19900 | December 23, 2007 7:33 PM

Lisa, the Skins are gonna do it! Lets roll with this!

Posted by: sams3 | December 23, 2007 7:34 PM

We are FANS, we only Watch the games, We cannot "jinx" anyone and we do not need to be "focused"

Posted by: SwiftIT | December 23, 2007 7:36 PM

Lisa, I agree with you, except that he's not jinxing us.

Posted by: daggar | December 23, 2007 7:36 PM

We are FANS, we only Watch the games, We cannot "jinx" anyone and we do not need to be "focused"

Posted by: SwiftIT | December 23, 2007 07:36 PM

FALSE!

Posted by: SMACK1 | December 23, 2007 7:37 PM

daggar I agree with the fact that you smuggle bones.

Posted by: sams3 | December 23, 2007 7:39 PM

OK, so If I want the skins to win, how exactly do I jinx the Vikes?

Posted by: SwiftIT | December 23, 2007 7:39 PM

You pay me $100 to bet $80 on them.

Posted by: SMACK1 | December 23, 2007 7:41 PM

2 rules for gambling, never beat on the skins, and never bet against them

Posted by: SwiftIT | December 23, 2007 7:42 PM

I put $100 on the Packers straight up, because I knew it would curse them. I only stood to make $25.

Bought my team home field advantage.

My power knows no bounds.

Posted by: SMACK1 | December 23, 2007 7:44 PM

It is taking forever for this game to start. All I want is a win and for someone to lay the wood on the Vikes at least once.

Posted by: jm220 | December 23, 2007 7:45 PM

On the radio, Riggins just predicted Redskins 17, Vikings 14.

I hope it's not that close.

Posted by: MrRedskin21 | December 23, 2007 7:45 PM

Wow, and I thought all the credit went to Urlacher and the Bears!! My mistake

Posted by: SwiftIT | December 23, 2007 7:46 PM

HAIL SKINS!

Forsaking the blog to go watch at a friend's house. So I wish you all the very very best this glorious holiday evening. Now let's go out there and kick some ass.

Posted by: NateinthePDX | December 23, 2007 7:47 PM

Remember the game when E.Smith had 150 yards at half time v. the Skins, but he was too dehydrated to play the 2nd half? THe Skins won, maybe that's the plan for AP tonight

Posted by: SwiftIT | December 23, 2007 7:48 PM

Swift, I'm only .19% serious, I hope you know that.

It does seem to work out this way though. I could bet that water will be wet tomorrow and lose.

**Fantasy Post**

SMACK- I hope your 7:32pm post is part of the power you speak of in your 7:44pm post. I think Kost would gladly "take the zero" tonight.

Yes, that is further evidence of the power.

Cursage.

Alrighty, I'm jumping off the blog to go to the bar and watch the game with some friends.

No matter what, after this nightmare season, it feels great to root for a team that's playing for something in December.

Hail to the Redskins!

Posted by: PDiddy | December 23, 2007 8:15 PM

I'm pulling for you guys in this one.

Posted by: SMACK1 | December 23, 2007 8:18 PM

The NFL just flexed the Titans-Colts game next week to 8:15...no official word yet on Redskins-Cowboys, but we do have a source saying that the time will be changed to 4.

Next Sunday's season finale between the Titans and Colts at Indianapolis has been moved to prime time with Tennessee in position to secure an AFC wild-card berth.
The NFL said after Tennessee's 10-6 victory over the New York Jets on Sunday it was switching Titans-Colts from 1 p.m. EST to 8:15 p.m. under the flexible schedule for late-season Sunday games. The originally scheduled Kansas City-Jets game moves to 4:15 p.m. EST.
If the Titans beat the defending Super Bowl champion Colts, they will earn the sixth seed in the playoffs. They also will get that spot if Cleveland loses at home to San Francisco in an afternoon game.
The Titans and Browns, both 9-6, are the only teams in the running for the final AFC wild-card slot.

Posted by: TheCindy | December 23, 2007 8:27 PM

Hey Cindy, people up here keep saying there is a limit and the Skins or Cowboys have played their maximum of primetime games?

Is this a league rule? Is it a rule at all? Can the league or the teams involved waive it?

Posted by: SMACK1 | December 23, 2007 8:33 PM

That's what I am talking about. Go for the win leave everything on the field.

Posted by: jm220 | December 23, 2007 8:34 PM

How could they overrule the TD call on the field without "indisputable visual evidence?"

The officials in this league get sketchier and sketchier each week.

Posted by: MrRedskin21 | December 23, 2007 8:38 PM

There is NO WAY there was enough visual evidence to overturn that TD!!

Thank heaven for the SAFETY!!!

Posted by: filmchis | December 23, 2007 8:41 PM

I like the way CP is running. O got to step up it seems every play someone is in the backfield.

Posted by: jm220 | December 23, 2007 8:42 PM

As best I can recall (can't check right now...), a team can make a maximum of six prime-time appearances. And that will be a 4:15 game next week, win or lose tonight.

Posted by: TheCindy | December 23, 2007 8:44 PM

I didn't think that was a TD. However, I am positive the Cooley catch was!

Posted by: TheCindy | December 23, 2007 8:45 PM

Yes baby. Cooooooley. That's what I am talking about.

Posted by: jm220 | December 23, 2007 8:45 PM

COOLEY!!

Posted by: ga8085 | December 23, 2007 8:46 PM

They got to keep this up especially in the second half. A stop here and another score will take them out of that run game which we need.

Posted by: jm220 | December 23, 2007 8:47 PM

Sweeeeet.

Todd looks comfortable.

Posted by: MrRedskin21 | December 23, 2007 8:47 PM

Fumble caused by Anthony Mix.

Posted by: TheCindy | December 23, 2007 8:49 PM

Mix bring the wood.

Posted by: jm220 | December 23, 2007 8:49 PM

Mix has made some nice plays on special teams since he's been here. I'd like to see what he can do on offense.

Posted by: JustMe | December 23, 2007 8:49 PM

This apocalyptic Gatorade commercial would frighten me if it didn't have that total baboo Derek Jeter in it.

Posted by: TheCindy | December 23, 2007 8:50 PM

The D is really bringing it tonight.

Posted by: JustMe | December 23, 2007 8:52 PM

Wow, Randle El has looked horrible on punt returns this year. He looked like an old man doing the harlem shake on that last return.

Posted by: ga8085 | December 23, 2007 8:54 PM

AP looks scared when the play is going to him. I guess I would too if there were that many skins in my mouth.

Posted by: sams3 | December 23, 2007 8:54 PM

Cyn Cyty love the Gatorade commercial.
JustMe no doubt the D have come to play.

Posted by: jm220 | December 23, 2007 8:55 PM

I know they were deep in their own territory on that drive, but you can't be that conservative especially with Pat Williams throwing your lineman around like rag dolls.

Posted by: ga8085 | December 23, 2007 8:59 PM

No, JM, no! It scares me.

Posted by: TheCindy | December 23, 2007 9:00 PM

Nice moves by CP. We need to score on this drive.

Posted by: jm220 | December 23, 2007 9:04 PM

Posted by: ga8085 | December 23, 2007 9:14 PM

Oh the D has come to play tonight.

Posted by: jm220 | December 23, 2007 9:14 PM

They got to get Moss into this game. Todd is going to Cooley too much right now. They are looking for that so we got to hit them with something else.

Posted by: jm220 | December 23, 2007 9:19 PM

The O line needs to start playing better. Collins has people in his face everytime he drops back.

Posted by: ga8085 | December 23, 2007 9:19 PM

Need to quit wasting opportunities off of turnovers

Run blitz

Posted by: noone.from.tampa | December 23, 2007 9:27 PM

Yup. The team looks so much better when its playmakers actually make plays. We've been missing that from Moss all season.

Posted by: JustMe | December 23, 2007 9:27 PM

let's have a strong second half too

Posted by: noone.from.tampa | December 23, 2007 9:34 PM

Get some points before half, that would be HUGE!!!!!!!

Posted by: redryan400 | December 23, 2007 9:34 PM

The Vikings have been held to 19 rushing yards so far this half. I hope the D can keep up their intensity.

Posted by: JustMe | December 23, 2007 9:35 PM

No question about it we need some more points. I am a little worried about the second half because we don't do well with a lead. However, I can't see Jackson beating us.

Posted by: jm220 | December 23, 2007 9:36 PM

CP looks great!

Posted by: redryan400 | December 23, 2007 9:39 PM

CP w/ the funky TD pass!!! ROFL

Posted by: JustMe | December 23, 2007 9:42 PM

It's our time baby.

Posted by: jm220 | December 23, 2007 9:42 PM

CP CAN THROW TOO!!!!!!

HAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: redryan400 | December 23, 2007 9:43 PM

where has this offense been all year!

Posted by: spotter | December 23, 2007 9:43 PM

JC has one assignment for next year, learn the 700 page playbook. it seems like it works.

Posted by: spotter | December 23, 2007 9:44 PM

I have been saying all year that CP is a beast and would be fine. These last couple of games he has shown without question he should be our #1 back.

Posted by: jm220 | December 23, 2007 9:45 PM

I can't lie, I threw a little fist pump after that td!
(alright, it was a big pump)

Posted by: redryan400 | December 23, 2007 9:46 PM

Let the BOOOOOOOO'S ring!!!!!

Hope we play with the same intensity in the 2nd half!

Beer run!!!!!!!

Posted by: redryan400 | December 23, 2007 9:47 PM

I heart CP. And, skinnytenny better not forget my damn bottle of Gentleman Jack. Betts should be the starter and would have a better season? Yeah. Okay.

Posted by: JustMe | December 23, 2007 9:47 PM

Can someone please tell me why we went for two there? Just one good reason would suffice.

Why do we never talk about how stupid coaches are going for two when they don't need to?

P*sses me off to no end...

Posted by: MV_Dame | December 23, 2007 9:49 PM

just keep stuffin AP and CT and put it on TJs shoulders and were golden...

dont beat ourselves and no big plays againts...

believe!!!!

Posted by: deadskin | December 23, 2007 9:49 PM

um.....OH YEAH!!!!!!

Posted by: chrislarry | December 23, 2007 9:50 PM

Minnesota is truly showing why they are the 32nd ranked pass defense in the league. Completely godawful.

Posted by: JustMe | December 23, 2007 9:51 PM

Hate to ask this question but does Collins deserve a shot at starter next year? Not trying to stir anything up, just asking is all. (LOL)

Posted by: ga8085 | December 23, 2007 9:52 PM

He looks good, but what would be the point? It's the same question we have been facing here for as long as I can remember. Do we want to win in the short term, or do we want to (hopefully) set ourselves up to win for years to come? We can't really do that giving valuable time to the old dude while the young one misses valuable time when he could be gaining the experience necessary for the team to be perennial winners.

Posted by: JustMe | December 23, 2007 9:56 PM

No Collins should be what he is this year. The backup QB and JC should be the starter. I would like to see the coaches let JC play and not hold him back with the play calling.

Posted by: jm220 | December 23, 2007 9:59 PM

Can someone please tell me why we went for two there? Just one good reason would suffice.

Posted by: MV_Dame | December 23, 2007 09:49 PM

I don't agree with the call, but taking the extra point gives you 23. 23 means 2 TDs and 3 FGs which is highly unlikely since Minnesota won't score 5 times next half. 24 would cover us for 3 TDs and a FG. Now the previous scenario beats us but scoring 5 unanswered times is highly unlikely.

Posted by: kreitman4 | December 23, 2007 9:59 PM

Just Me
I see your point but wouldn't Gibbs be just a little tempted to go with Collins for the simple fact that Gibbs might only be around for another year or two? I know I would be.

Posted by: ga8085 | December 23, 2007 10:01 PM

man of man, who would have thought this?

They have scored TD's tonight!
And even had one over-ruled where there was no indisputable evidence

Sellers is down; not good!

Posted by: RedskinRay1 | December 23, 2007 10:05 PM

ga8085,

I can understand why Gibbs the Coach would be tempted. I also believe Gibbs the Team President should be able to choke down that urge and plan for the long term success of the team and not just its success until he leaves the sideline.

Posted by: JustMe | December 23, 2007 10:06 PM

Posted by: jm220 | December 23, 2007 10:11 PM

Yeah, I agree. I think he sticks with Campbell, and I'm fine with that. Good to know we'll have a capable backup next year though.

What the hell was that?

Posted by: ga8085 | December 23, 2007 10:20 PM

I can't believe they were going for the CP pass again. LOL Luckily, they're far enough ahead that I can laugh about it.

Posted by: JustMe | December 23, 2007 10:21 PM

Bad play call!

Come on special teams, no big return!

Posted by: redryan400 | December 23, 2007 10:21 PM

ga8085
That was a smart play by CP. Don't force it and take the points.

Posted by: jm220 | December 23, 2007 10:22 PM

Game is not over, keep fighting Skins!

Posted by: redryan400 | December 23, 2007 10:22 PM

jm,

Good decision by CP, bad play call!

Should look for Cooley there!

Posted by: redryan400 | December 23, 2007 10:23 PM

k-man4, I appreciate that you don't agree with the call to go for two, but your trying to rationalize why St. Joe went for two makes no sense. It is meaningless to talk about how many scoring drives a team needs to tie or win or whatever a game. As it is, the Vikings need only three scores to tie or take the lead. Had we gone for one, that would still be the case. And had we made the two-point conversion, that would still be the case.

Yes it's true that had we made the two-point conversion, they would have needed three touchdowns and three two-point conversions of their own just to tie. Yet, if we had simply gone for one, they would need three touchdowns and two two-point conversions to tie. Now, having failed on the two-point conversion, they still need three touchdowns, but now only one two-point conversion to tie. I think everyone would agree that that's much more manageable than needing two. And the risk of going for two and succeeding to force them into having to make three two-point conversions was not worth it.

The only time it makes sense to go for two is some time in the fourth quarter, especially near the end of the game, when you really and truly need both points. The Redskins did not. Period.

Coaches are idiots and I will say no more.

(Sorry if anyone's head is spinning...)

Still didn't agree with the call. No need to get cute inside the 10. Dang it, Godfrey is down now? Let's get this game over with and get the heck out of there!

I never said I like the play call but it was smart of CP not to force it. Don't know how they wasn't ready for that kick. One more period to go.

Posted by: jm220 | December 23, 2007 10:41 PM

Yeah, go right at big nasty Pat Williams. That will get you a first down...

Posted by: ga8085 | December 23, 2007 10:42 PM

Posted by: farstriker | December 23, 2007 11:09 PM

Alan, first of all, it was a statement, not a critique. My personal opinion is that mistakes and turnovers happen, and that teams need to learn to win in spite of them.

Second of all, it was 2. He recovered the first fumble, himself. The 2nd, which it was as the time I said he had 2, didn't count by dumb luck (12 men) because of the challenge.

Chill out, dude.

Posted by: JustMe | December 23, 2007 11:09 PM

Everything falls right for the Skins (NO losing, Packers losing, Boys winning) to maximize next week's chances.

Gibbs turns into Mr. Genius on the biggest challenge of his 2.0 tenure.

Collins, Portis--just like Al drew it up.

Wow.

Posted by: farstriker | December 23, 2007 11:21 PM

That was a weak pass interference call. Betts breaks a long TD run to really stick it to the Vikes. Seeing Landry playing deep roaming in the secondary reminded me of what #21 used to do. So sad...

Posted by: ga8085 | December 23, 2007 11:22 PM

That was a BS interference call on Leigh Torrence, but fortunately it doesn't matter at this point.

Can't see the Boys playing key starters for more than the first half next week. Somewhat concerned that Brad Johnson would really like to stick it to the Skins, but think that Todd Collins and the the Boys coverage deficiencies will let the Skins pull a W and make the playoffs.

Good luck

Posted by: david | December 24, 2007 12:25 AM

The Giants finally woke up and figured out they don't need Eli Manning to fill the skies with footballs in order to win. On a blustery Buffalo day made for running the football, New York stopped outsmarting itself by half and took the game out of the turnover-plagued Manning's hands.

jm220-

40+ runs by the Gints should worry a lot of people in the NFC East. Unlike Tavarus Jackson, Eli can be a good complimentary player. It's just when the Gints decide to make him the focal point of their offense that they look idiotic.

Thankfully, Tom Coughlin isn't smart enough (or he's got too much of an ego) to figure this out.

Posted by: david | December 24, 2007 12:37 AM

I have been saying the last couple of years Eli is average at best. Hit him hard early and he is done. Stop the run and the G Men are easy to beat just like the Vikes.

From Jasno: "Emerging defensive tackles Kedric Golston and Anthony Montgomery generated a powerful push, knocking Pro Bowl -- Ed. center Matt Birk backward, and Pro Bowl -- Ed. fullback Tony Richardson failed to get the carry out of the end zone for a safety.

A thing of beauty...

Posted by: daggar | December 24, 2007 12:45 AM

i dotn think you can pull a qb that is undefeated...ride collins the rest of the way...or until he gets hurt...good learing experience for soups...watch how a vetran (that can still play btw) manages a game to victory...let him battle for the nod nexgt year...he is still very much our franchise qb...

what about montomergy and golston for game balls??? and id give one to the ol ball coach as well...and whomever caught the 12th man on the field!!! f'n eh!!!

Posted by: deadskin | December 24, 2007 12:49 AM

CP still da man. As I and some others have been saying all year. Todd is OK but not a play maker just smart. He needs time and a pocket. Moss is coming ON.

Gibbs is moving to a B B+ for the year.

We get Dallas 2 times in 3 weeks if we win on sunday and the week after.

The second game will mean a lot.

TO will most surly be slowed with that injury (first playoff game). Also he is 33 like me and will heal a little slower than the last injury.

We can send them home with no playoff win for 11 years. Then just hope for some bad weather in Green Bay or good weather in TB.

I think NE and GB are not suited to there environment.

Posted by: mul | December 24, 2007 12:52 AM

I'll take a page out of the Andy Reid book and claim that I'll start JC if he's "100% healthy"
I will also slip a c-note to Bubba in a related move.

Posted by: daggar | December 24, 2007 12:52 AM

For the Skins to go to the Superbowl they would have to win at Seattle, at Dallas, and at Green Bay (maybe). They almost beat 2/3 teams on that list (lost by a combined 8 points). Either way, assuming they beat Dallas next week, I don't see them being out-classed by any of the remaining NFC teams.

Posted by: david | December 24, 2007 12:54 AM

david

Yes you are coming under the spell.

I don't see why we can't do that Card thing at QB.

Put JC in for plays between the 20's. No huddle ect. He was doing very well. Todd will get most the reps and goal line stuff. But JC can do things Todd can not.

Posted by: mul | December 24, 2007 1:02 AM

Posted by: mul | December 24, 2007 1:10 AM

1. Okay we can beat Dallas. We will beat Dallas. Go ahead, Redskins.

2. So when this crazy run began I started idly wondering about going to Seattle if the Skins somehow managed to qualify for the post-season tournament. And now I'm really thinking about it. Holy moley, that's amazing. Hail to these dudes!

3. Hail to the NFC East! If we get in, that's three NFC East teams in the playoffs for the second straight season (after it had never happened before in this playoff format, IIRC). Pretty doggone impressive resurgence, I'd say. You can hold off on the snarky comments about the piddling conference we play in.

4. Hail to the Redskins.

skins win!!!! i'm happy!

Posted by: dealer | December 24, 2007 1:43 AM

Can I join the chorus:

"WE WANT DALLAS!!!!"

Beyond ecstatic right now!!

We have to keep going. One win at a time. Regardless of what some blog denizens say, I say we focus on one game at a time.

There is only one clarion call for all 'Skins fans all over the world. 'Skins fans far and wide, no matter their apathy or cynicism, are called from their various burrows and hovels to come forth and cheer. It is comprised of two simple words.

BEAT DALLAS.

I can't make it to FedEx next week, but I've donated my tickets to a good cause. To all those headed to FedEx, cheer your guts out. There hasn't been a game at FedEx bigger than this one. Ever.

sorry I'm late... pour me a glass of Kool-aid and give me an "OOOHHHHHH YEAH!"

I was on the road traveling to va beach for the holidays... listened to the game on the radio. Amazing.

any 757ers watching the game next week?

Posted by: Dorf | December 24, 2007 3:43 AM

Sooooooooooooooo happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a win!!!!! Man, we played some great football last night. Defense set it all up with the turnovers and the offense did what it had to do and finished it all off. Loved it!

How good is that defense playing just now?? It was soo good watching Peterson have nowhere to run. I also gotta say that I think Smoot and Springs are playing great just now - they've really stepped up since Sean was taken from us. And I love LaRon! He just looks so menacing back there - you just know he's itching to whack somebody.

Let's go beat Dallas!!!!

Posted by: tartanskin | December 24, 2007 4:56 AM

What a run the last 3 weeks.

Lisa, you better not stand me up at dinner! HA

Posted by: RickyBobby | December 24, 2007 8:11 AM

Anyone home this early on Christmas Eve? Should I go into a program for being on RI today? Wow! Until now, the best performance of the year was the Detroit game but this was awesome in an elimination game! Best part is, it seems we've finally figured out how to close games. I've felt all year that the talent was there to compete with anybody, save NE, but we never close. Two weeks in a row, but leads and things started to look like they might go bad, but guys make plays and close the game. After the LaRon penalty last week resuscitated at Gint drive, I had this awful feeling of dread, but then we closed. Same last night after the Collins fumble, then that awesome challenge and we closed. Kudos to coaches on that. They get ripped for game management all the time, but if Gibbs lost the Buffalo game, he saved this one. Defensive game plan was AWESOME! Only argument I have is with going for 2 in 2nd quarter. Don't be too cocky about the Dallas game though. Just yesterday, the Packers had home-field in their grasp and laid an egg against the Bears with nothing to play for. The Bears played hard in a rivalry game and the Packers got burned. Don't anyone forget this is a rivalry game for the Boys; they ain't laying down folks. Not saying we shouldn't win, just don't count the chickens.

Posted by: JS26121820 | December 24, 2007 8:26 AM

Give me a little credit for calling the win on the blog! I was 3 points off the spread, but nobody's perfect.

They'll win next week, then go out and dispatch Seattle.

Posted by: Soups1 | December 24, 2007 8:46 AM

Those dang garbage time points!!!

There's an old novelty song called

All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth

All I want for Christmas is two play-off wins,
Two play-off wins, two play-off wins
Gee if I could only have two play-off wins
Then I could wish you Merry Christmas
It's seems so long since I could say
The Skins have a chance at the Super Bowl
Gosh oh gee how happy I'd be
If I could only say so
All I want for Christmas is two play-off wins,
Two play-off wins, two play-off wins
Gee if I could only have two play-off wins
Then I could wish you Merry Christmas

anyone know if the redskins game is going to be on in NYC this sunday w/ them moving the Jet's game to 4?

If not, anyone know of any decent redskin bars in manhattan?

Posted by: spotter | December 24, 2007 9:09 AM

This Sunday will be crazy, a throwback to the RFK days. Attention RI readers. Start channeling Darryl Grant, Dexter Manley, Dave Butz, the Fun Bunch, (the orginal) Hogs, Joe T. and Riggo now! If you are going to the game, try to make the stands shake like old times, I'll bet we can. Enjoy the week, fear THE TODD and oph yeah, I almost for got....

This is the biggest game ever at Fed-Ex Field. This is the type of game we need to have some mystique at Fed-Ex, which really has none at the moment!

Posted by: jimwell | December 24, 2007 9:15 AM

Spotter:

Skins game will NOT be on in nyc with Jets in a 4pm homegame...blech!

Plenty of bars... I am in Brooklyn, if you wanna head out let me know, I will tell you where we watch

Posted by: chrislarry | December 24, 2007 9:16 AM

So what's the deal with that 12 men on the field challenge? Was Childress right about us having to allow them a substitution? I can't believe how whiny he was about that in the face of how his team played

Posted by: JS26121820 | December 24, 2007 9:31 AM

I think it could be on in NYC. Sked says both networks have 3:15 games. Do they both get a doubleheader for week 17? Maybe with the Jets on CBS, FOX will still be allowed to show a game in that slot

Posted by: JS26121820 | December 24, 2007 9:36 AM

I am going to publicly apologize right now to Gibbs. I haven't really bashed but was ready to concede he should step aside...

F that!

No coach in league history was better equiped to handle the #21 tradegy and have his team keep fighting. No other coach in the league is able to get the team like chemistry in the FA era that it needs to play like in 05 and the end of this season...

And than to yesterday out fox another coach with a in game move?!?!?! He is BACK baby!

Not to mention its obvious he has allowed weird Al to take more control and realized he has to trust his play makers more.

I am sorry gibbs! and on behalf of RI Nation I apologize for the jokes made on here about depends, and geriatrics, and taking busts out of Canton and all the other male adololescent whiny cr*p that went on up here!

Gibbs rulz
we all droolz

Posted by: chrislarry | December 24, 2007 9:37 AM

Morning all. In the spirit of 'Toddball', I watched the game last night. That's four full games I've watched of you guys this year and you've won them all!

It was an enjoyable game to watch and a good win by the Skins. sams3, you should be a LOT nicer to Adam than that, he was cheering on his Eagles to do the Skins a favor yesterday, and you're busting on him for missing the playoffs??

I guess I get to keep my blogname for at least another week then.

Merry Toddmas to all, and to all a Todd night!

Posted by: toddcoat | December 24, 2007 9:52 AM

Hey ChrisLarry,

There is no doubt that having Todd Collins at quarterback has allowed Al Saunders to totally open up his play book. He has been in that system forever. I think Jason Campbell is going to be a great quarterback, but even if he is able, he shouldn't start another game this season or in the post season. I doubt we make this incredible run with Campbell at quarterback.

Posted by: jimwell | December 24, 2007 9:55 AM

Reading the Minny Star-Tribune stuff, they say the Redskins did make a substitution before the quick snap and the Vikings had to be allowed a sub. How does this work? Do we have to stand around until their guy saunters off? I've never heard of anything like that. Now I'm curious

Posted by: JS26121820 | December 24, 2007 9:55 AM

Oh and Lisa, I hope you're picking the restaurant out for you and Ricky, it's looking like you'll need it.

*** Fantasy Post ***

Just want to thank all you guys who played this year. Bad Luck tonight SMACK, I got pretty lucky with your guys getting injured. For a while there I thought the Redskins 'D' were not going to let Adrian Peterson get the 2 points I needed to win!

I'm going away for a few weeks, will be home around the 9-10th Jan. We can orgainse all the charity stuff then.

Better head to bed now, Santa will be arriving shortly, he might be a bit late to arrive in the US, I've left out a 6 pack of VB for him.

Night all, and have yourselves a great, and safe, holiday.

Merry Xmas

Posted by: kost52 | December 24, 2007 10:04 AM

He has to pick on refs cause he just got PANTSED and he has to deflect attention. No dice, Brad, we all saw your team exposed.

Posted by: jspaceman72 | December 24, 2007 10:58 AM

That SkyMall link is genius. Pure, unadulterated genius.

I'm with CL. I had mistakenly called for St. Joe to resign following the Buffalo debacle. This has been the single worst season of any professional sports team I've ever rooted for. I can't imagine a coach who would have assembled better "character guys" who were capable of holding that locker room together.

And when it comes right down to it...isn't St. Joe one of only a handful of coaches you always want on your side during the playoffs?

Playoffs!?!?!? Playoffs!?!?!? One more win...

Beat Dallas.

Posted by: PDiddy | December 24, 2007 10:59 AM

this is genius.

i recently read a copy of "sky maul" at work, and was crying with laughter. i think this is the funniest thing i've seen all year. (larry king voice, "you heard it here first, gang!)

seriously, it is SO good:

feeling great after the game last night!

loving the defense! loving portis tossing that pass! loving gibbs actually looking super smart!

HAIL.

Posted by: dwdjmu | December 24, 2007 11:01 AM

Right, JS. I can think of at least 73 other uses for an 8 foot wooden giraffe. It's a good thing the disclaimer is so clear.

Posted by: PDiddy | December 24, 2007 11:02 AM

That's four full games I've watched of you guys this year and you've won them all!
Posted by: toddcoat | December 24, 2007 09:52 AM

So, how much will it cost to ensure you're watching the CowPies game? I'm sure we can work something out...

I want a daVinci decoder ring!!!

Posted by: JS26121820 | December 24, 2007 11:09 AM

Don't worry kengel, I'll keep watching. It's the least I can do as I'm sure the Fins vs. Bungles game certainly won't be on!

Posted by: toddcoat | December 24, 2007 11:09 AM

so, portis has 1158 yards.

he's 8th in the league in rushing.

just so you guys know.

Posted by: dwdjmu | December 24, 2007 11:13 AM

In regards to the 12 man thing: Without looking it up, I would think at best for the Vikes it woulda been a No Play, certainly not a fumble. There is nothing illegal in the Skins running hurry up. With a No Play, the Vikes coulda challenged the Moss catch. But F that Childress held his flag for good reason, play probably woulda stood. Childress whining after the game just sweetens the win. He had nothing for Coach Joe. Way to go Gibbs. He has redeemed himself.

Posted by: csquaredskins | December 24, 2007 11:16 AM

Solar Powered Bible, anyone?

Posted by: PDiddy | December 24, 2007 11:18 AM

lavar was calling that play "the 12 vikings of christmas."

that was like unwrapping a winged uni.

Posted by: dwdjmu | December 24, 2007 11:20 AM

I was thinking same thing, the fumble would've been taken away regardless. And since when does the offense have to sit around and what for the defense to make subs? Offense controls the game tempo, always has. That's basic footbal!

Posted by: JS26121820 | December 24, 2007 11:21 AM

There are only two things Childress has to cry about, first being that he is the head coach of a crap team. The second being that he not only looks like a child molester but possibly the most creepy child molester to ever live.

Heads up bro when you are rocking the horse shoe bald spot try to tone it down with the creep mustache.

Posted by: sams3 | December 24, 2007 11:22 AM

I'll take the solar powered Bible only if I can wear a Slanket while I listen to it

Posted by: JS26121820 | December 24, 2007 11:25 AM

LOL he does look like a child molester!

Posted by: cdelftwenty | December 24, 2007 11:27 AM

The SkyMall link is pure genius. Btw, happy holidays to you all! (That could be my last exclamation point.)

Posted by: TheCindy | December 24, 2007 11:28 AM

Did you make a New Year's resolution that you'd cease using the exclamation point?

Posted by: JS26121820 | December 24, 2007 11:35 AM

Cindy, you're going to have to rock the semi-colon next year. That should be your New Year's resolution for the blog.

My New Year's Resolution for the blog is to banish all talk of Oreo Pizza.

Posted by: PDiddy | December 24, 2007 11:35 AM

Doc Walker said this morning that the G Men is the team you wouldn't want to face in the playoffs. WTF has he been smoking? Do he realize that Eli is their QB? He has lost it.

Posted by: jm220 | December 24, 2007 11:37 AM

Wow, this link says "braces" are acceptable use in regular English. I had no idea...

http://www.wikihow.com/Use-English-Punctuation-Correctly

Posted by: PDiddy | December 24, 2007 11:38 AM

I like exclation points! They're great! How else can you be loud when you type! If you only end your sentence with a meager period, people will think you're insincere! An exclamation point says I really, really mean what I'm typing!

Posted by: JS26121820 | December 24, 2007 11:39 AM

I think the 'Skins can beat any team except Indy and New England. It's going to be a wild, wide open NFC race. And hopefully, we get the big New England vs. Indianapolis matchup we all want.

(assuming we win next week...no jinxing! :-) )

Posted by: PDiddy | December 24, 2007 11:41 AM

Boy the Vikings are bad; I don't know who's worse between Tarvaris and Eli; Gibbs eats Childress omelets for breakfast; The Boys are going down; these were five independent thoughts separated by a semi colon; does that make this a complete sentence?

Posted by: JS26121820 | December 24, 2007 11:43 AM

Childress looks like Ned Flanders..."Hiddily Ho Neighbor"!

Posted by: rickyroge | December 24, 2007 11:45 AM

Well done, JS! Now try using the braces on the blog.

Cindy, we're simply being edumacational here.

Posted by: PDiddy | December 24, 2007 11:46 AM

So, was Childress taking time off from the Leftorium to coach the Vikings? What a whiner. His team got spanked for the entire first half, his quarterback couldn't hit the broadside of a barn with his throws, and his vaunted running game was shut down by a bunch of subs, scrubs, and schlubs. Please.

Posted by: PDiddy | December 24, 2007 11:48 AM

gotta go with dot, dot, dot . . .

perfect metaphor for being a fan of this team. . .

they do something good and you start thinking "hey, this could be a good season" then . . .

they do something stupid and we all say "Does Joe still have it in him" . . .

then they run off 3 in a row in a fairly conving fashion. . .

dot, dot, dot is all I can muster at this point re the dallas game next week. . .

Posted by: skinsfan8KaboveMSL | December 24, 2007 11:48 AM

. . .and I can't believe oreo pizza has survived this long . . .

Posted by: skinsfan8KaboveMSL | December 24, 2007 11:51 AM

My takes:

1) Joe Gibbs is a leader of men. Yeah, he's slow on the draw sometimes, but he's got this team rollin'. If you get rid of Gibbs, then who????

2) Reed Doughty has been an unsung hero in this thing. He's played well and within himself since Taylor's death.

3) Most said Fred Smoot was a nickel corner at best and he's proven he's got the skills and swagger for the position. Springs truly makes a difference in this defense.

4) I though Mike Sellars was dead on the field. HE'S A BEAST!!!

5) Maybe the FO is not so bad after all. We've actually got depth!

Posted by: rickyroge | December 24, 2007 11:51 AM

Here are CP's rushing yardage totals the last 5 games {68, 50, 36, 126, 76}.

Posted by: JS26121820 | December 24, 2007 11:54 AM

I never thought I'd say this, but Brad "Ned Flanders" Childress needs a toupe. Does the NFL make official league toupes with the Viking logo on the top?

Posted by: rickyroge | December 24, 2007 11:55 AM

"So, was Childress taking time off from the Leftorium to coach the Vikings?"

LOL! Outstanding, diddy.

Who got the game ball? I think Greg Williams had to have been in the running. Of course, along with TC or CP or the entire defense or the first to see 12 guys and scream challenge or...

Posted by: jspaceman72 | December 24, 2007 12:00 PM

beepbeep. update on that "other" qb....

Posted by: TheCindy | December 24, 2007 12:00 PM

In typical RI fashion here's another tangent on a tangent . . .

Plus what other punctuation mark has it's own band named after it?
