Sunday Night Toddball
The NFL just announced a change on the Dec. 23 Sunday night match. Evidently, Tampa Bay-San Fran doesn't float their boat any more and they've opted to move the Redskins' game in Minnesota to 8:15 p.m. So reset your clocks: this means the next two Sunday night games will feature the Redskins.

I worry that Gibby, with 10 days to think about, might throw the ol' max protect into the game plan filled with MB-esque WR screens and RB dumb offs.
We will get blown out the F out if that happens... but we'll also get blown the F out if Scott Boonnell even smells the field Sunday night.
So Gibby, please, lay it all out on the line! PLEASE!!!!!

Todd will be interesting to watch, but let's not forget Santoddna Moss seems to have some speed back, and if we can get any running at all out of Cintodd Portis or even LaTodd Betts, we might look good.
The key, though, is scoring Todddowns, and not just field goals all the time. If the Toddskins play as well inside the 20 as they do outside, we'd be in good shape. We need some good plays ready to run when we get inside the Toddzone.
If the offense opens up against the Giants, and everything starts working, maybe Gibbs will take the training wheels off and Al Saunders can say, "I Todd you so."

Todd Gump .... has played in various offensive sets -- in the '60s, '70s and '80s. Little known fact: he was 3rd string quarterback on the the Joe Gibbs team that last went to the Super Bowl....

Hate to rain on the Todd parade, but i think deep down every last one of us knows that Todd Collins will soon suffer a fluke injury, and we are so close to seeing the return of Mark Brunnell as the starting quarterback of our washington redskins. It's so close to happening, the hairs on the back of my head are starting to stand up.
Initial reaction to the vikings game getting moved to Sunday night- NOT COOL that the league would do that to us 2 weeks in a row. But, given that we will be playing on sunday night a week earlier vs the giants, maybe we'll be more prepared to play a night game than the vikes? hey, any edge you can get at this point in the season, i'll take it!

"Oh my Todd, Becky! Look at her butt! It is so big."
I like big Todd and I can not lie
You other brothers can't deny
That when a Todd walks in with an itty bitty arm
And a TD pass in your face
You get sprung, wanna pull out your tough
'Cause you notice that Todd was stuffed
Deep in the jeans he's wearing
I'm hooked and I can't stop staring
Oh baby, I wanna get wit'cha
And take your picture
My homeboys tried to warn me
But with that Todd you got makes me feel so happy
Ooh, Rump-o'-smooth-pigskin
You say you wanna get in my Benz?
Well, use me, use me
'Cause you ain't that average QB
I've seen them dancin'
The hell with romancin'
He's sweat, wet,
Got it goin' like a turbo 'Vette
I'm tired of magazines
Sayin' flat Tom Brady is the thing
Take the average man and ask him that
He gotta pack much back
So, fellas! (Yeah!) Fellas! (Yeah!)
Has your team got the Todd? (Hell yeah!)
Tell 'em to play it! (Play it!) Play it! (Play it!)
Play that healthy butt!
Skins got Todd!

Redskin fans continue to amaze me! A new face arrives in town or on the field and HE is going to lead you to the promised land. Well, let me just give y'all a warning -- he can run, but he can't hide. Just wait 'til Strahan et al take a whack at him. Bill,
Maybe you have a point, but it pales in comparison to the fact that Giants fans will wait another 8 or 9 years (and two more coaches) before they realize Eli will not win a playoff game.

We just are not as Jaded as Giants fans are, yet.

I am conflicted. While I would like to see the team make the playoffs, what benefit would that be? Let's face it, the Redskins would lose no matter which team they play. So if they make the playoffs and lose, they sacrifice a higher draft choice (which they should trade to get additional draft picks). This team needs to build depth. This quick-fix approach has put the team in a position of vulnerability with injuries(see 2007 season).
Posted by: svtodoro | December 10, 2007 01:38 PM
This way of thinking never ceases to amaze me. The sheer stupidity of it is really something. Yeah, let's intentionally miss the playoffs so that we can have the 15th pick instead of the 16th pick! Great idea!!!
And as for the "let's face the redskins will lose to any team they will play" claim, i have a question for you: did you just start watching football for the very first time yesterday? Are you currently aware of the overall pathetic weakness of the NFC? Are you aware that we'd likely play Tampa Bay or New York in the first round, 2 teams that we already came very close to beating earlier this season?
My my, there are some very foolish people out there...

Good stuff. I hope Todd Collins is somehow picking up on the positive vibes.
For my part, I have put aside my upset that Al Saunders called different plays for Collins than he had been calling for Campbell.
Now I am just hoping that Collins and Saunders can put together their combined 112 years of NFL experience -- added to the over 1,000 years of NFL experience among the remainder of the coaching staff -- and beat these doggone Giants on Sunday.
HAIL!

You've gotta admit, Todd didn't seem the least bit phased by the presence of a facemask and the lack of leather in his helmet.
In all seriousness, productivity aside, here are the two things that really impressed me about Todd from Thursday's game:
1. Fourth quarter, third and goal at the Bears' 5 yd. line, Cooley gets knocked down (not illegal contact how?), pressure is coming, Todd's not gonna be able to get to the goal line if he runs. Rather than trying to run or taking a sack, both of which would risk a fumble (and bodily harm), he throws the ball away because he knows we've got an easy FG to give us a 7 pt. lead.
2. In his post-game interview, where most guys would have their helmet off so they could mug for the camera, he kept his helmet on. Why? Easy. The air was COLD, his helmet was not.

I struggle with anything over 5 toppings, myself. Though, back in my younger, less athletically inclined days, I could be seen at the all you can eat pizza bar in the New Hampshire Ave. Pizza Hut scarfing down endless Pizza Hut Supreme Pan Pizzas.
To this day, the mere smell of Pizza Hut brings back those memories.
Not a single "you know who" in this entry...am I in the penalty box for not playing along? :-)

It's "Todd's The Season" on NBC in December. On Thursday nights, watch "Scrubs" featuring "The Todd". And on Sunday nights, watch "Football Night in America" featuring, you guessed it, "The Todd".

I'm happy the next two Skins games are on Sunday night NBC, especially the Vikings game, which I probably wouldn't have been able to see here in New York without going out to a bar.
I suppose if we win those two (I know, I know, I'm getting ahead of myself) we might be on Sunday night NBC against Dallas in the finale as well.
The current Sunday night finale is slated to be Kansas City Chiefs @ New York Jets, and I'm sure the league would prefer a more meaningful matchup.
