Fassel And Green
There has been a lot of chatter about these two guys as possible candidates.
Spoke to Jim Fassel last night and he said he doesn not want to go into much detail about any possible contact with NFL teams, but that he has not been contacted by the Redskins at this point.
Spoke to someone very close to Dennis Green who said he is aware of no contact between the sides.
Both of these guys interviewed for the Skins job in 2004 before Coach Joe got the gig. Their star has faded since then however.
It could be that Dan Snyder's plane was in Arizona Friday, but that the trip was totally unrelated to the coaching search. Word I have received from Arizona is that the Skins have not contacted the Cards about interviewing any of their coaches.
So then I started to think about local assistant coaches who might have been interviewed Friday, guy who could get here without need of a plane. Rex Ryan has not been contacted, his agent said. Brian Billick has not returned my calls but the word coming out was that whoever the Skins did talk to Friday, it was not a big-name guy.
Also, two staff members would fulfill the NFL's Rooney Rule stipulations - defensive coordinator Greg Blache and running backs coach Earnest Byner. Blache let it be known he has no head coaching aspirations and is not interested in interviewing, league sources said, while team sources said that Byner was not contacted.
The two minority coaches the Skins hope to contact - Indy's Ron Meeks and Jim Caldwell - could be playing for a long time. So it will be interesting to see how the Skins meet that criteria, assuming they did not already do so on Friday.

Hmmmm...the plot thickens...
According to this site (http://www.city-data.com/states/Arizona-Agriculture.html), one of Arizona's leading cash crops is lettuce!
Maybe "Mr." Snyder is pulling a Rerun and has joined forces with Tom Cruise to worship a head of lettuce!
This sounds like investigative journalism that Jasno should be on like white on rice. Barno needs to call him on it. He's our resident annoying gadfly. I'm just here for the after dinner mints.
Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 1:51 PM
what a pass...too bad the skins can't do that cuz all their recievers are under 4'11"
maybe cindy can authorize jason for a leer jet to follow snyder's plane around...

How on Earth is CBS America's most watched network?
Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 1:59 PM
A Leer jet!!!! That's Diddy's plane!!!! Sorry, Dealer, too funny to pass up.
This is my favorite "first" post ever:
Oh, and am I first?
Meanwhile, Wacky Norv is out of timeouts, but who am I to criticize? We've got ourselves a ballgame.

No, she suddenly remembered that she had to record an album.
On another matter, I'd like to announce to the group that I've had it up to here with Peyton Manning.

diddy, i was thinking the same thing regarding cbs but then again i don't watch tv...just whatever the wife dvr's (that modeling agency show, housewives of orange county, the hills, platinum weddings...)

I think I'm still a wee bit drunk from last night. That's my confession.
Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 2:09 PM
suzanne, your "LOVE" for peyton is biased cuz you "HATE" the best qb that ever lived, tom brady.
Posted by: dealer | January 13, 2008 2:10 PM
I have to say, on the "list of quarterbacks I hate", Phillip Rivers is pretty much right on top.
Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 2:11 PM
Funny thing: I was wearing the same outfit last night that Tom Brady wore in his press conference. I felt vaguely cool for the 8 seconds that he routinely appeared throughout the evening on the televisions in the bar. Like I was about to throw a touchdown with my tequila or snag a supermodel girlfriend.
It was that kind of night.
Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 2:14 PM
Dealer, um, what about Todd Collins!?!?!
Seriously, Brady would not be half as good without Moss, Welker, and everyone else that he can get the ball to.
Bret Favre on the other hand...how can you not love someone whose name is constantly used in the same sentence as "boyish enthusiasm?
But most of the Peyton commericals make me laugh (except for that one where he looks like he is in a hotel hallway - that one confuses me).
Posted by: suzannepdc | January 13, 2008 2:16 PM
People, people... The jet was empty. Danny just wanted a dry run to see how long it would take to get to Glendale.
Q: "How do we get to the Super Bowl?"
A: "Practice, practice, practice."

So that oath of sobriety didn't take. Well done sir, January didn't stand a chance!
Posted by: SMACK1 | January 13, 2008 2:17 PM
I was faced with one incontrovertible truth: in a room full of extraordinarily beautiful women, only alcohol can make me interesting :-) Suffice to say, I am the most interesting person I know when I am drunk.
Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 2:18 PM
I think San Diego might be shopping for a new kicker at about 5pm tonight.
Posted by: suzannepdc | January 13, 2008 2:18 PM
Diddy, this is an interesting tactic you've employed in your campaign to abstain from alcohol for the month of January. ;-)
Posted by: freakzilla | January 13, 2008 2:20 PM
Also just read Norval's lips and he said the "F" word and "JC" (and he wasn't calling for Jason Campbell!).
Posted by: nojunk4me | January 13, 2008 2:20 PM
Norv is apoplectic. Is anyone else enjoying this as much as me?
Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 2:21 PM
I might try for February. January is a tough month what with all the days in it.
Maybe I should abstain on Leap Day.
Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 2:22 PM
Norv might be using those very same letters again here in a minute.
Posted by: SMACK1 | January 13, 2008 2:26 PM
Holy moley, what a great return. Sucks for the penalty, but still awesome.
Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 2:26 PM
Okay, Peyton Manning is the WORST blocker I have ever seen!
They just got lucky with the holding call...
Posted by: suzannepdc | January 13, 2008 2:27 PM
I enjoy Peyton's commercials. I'm just tired of him.
Posted by: TheCindy | January 13, 2008 2:27 PM
I've never seen Norv look so manly.
Posted by: SMACK1 | January 13, 2008 2:27 PM
Wow, what a BS penalty! Hahaha!
Norv is going to bust a vein!
This is awesome.
Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 2:28 PM
I live out here in Phoenix and one of the things we have here are fancy day spas (up in Scottsdale). A lot of celebs pop in for a day of pampering so maybe The Danny and his racquetball partner just needed a day to relax after all of the stress from the job search.
Posted by: david | January 13, 2008 2:28 PM
I actually like Norv Turner - think that he had some terrible, terrible luck when he was here (can we say Ferrotte ramming his head into the wall to celebrate?)
Not that I am rooting for the Chargers, mind you.
Posted by: suzannepdc | January 13, 2008 2:28 PM
Norvell seems like something is bothering him.
Posted by: freakzilla | January 13, 2008 2:28 PM
Still, this game is fun to watch.
Posted by: TheCindy | January 13, 2008 2:30 PM
Well, assuming that Indy gets by SD today, they're going to have to be much sharper next week to take down NE.
Posted by: freakzilla | January 13, 2008 2:31 PM
Bill Cowher has that certain Washington Redskins look to him.
Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 2:31 PM
A pox on norv's face, oh wait too late.
Posted by: alex35332 | January 13, 2008 2:32 PM
I agree with Cower, Indy will pull away in the 3rd
Posted by: alex35332 | January 13, 2008 2:34 PM
They are already printing up the programs for the AFC Super Bowl. The NFL will have Pats/Colts and then Pats/Pack if it kills them. Look for some bad calls against the Boys today. I know, grassy knoll...gravelly road.
Posted by: SMACK1 | January 13, 2008 2:36 PM
So who is the better QB? 18 or 12? I don't think we can answer that until 5 years from now, but its going to be as tough a question as Elway/Mareno.
Posted by: alex35332 | January 13, 2008 2:37 PM
I agree smack, I do think that the NFL may be tampering with some games.
Posted by: alex35332 | January 13, 2008 2:38 PM
It must have been a tough decision for the NFL. The pretty boy vs. the old grizzly vet, or brother vs. brother. Oh to have such choices!
Posted by: SMACK1 | January 13, 2008 2:44 PM
Just had this conversation with Tony. Which matchup would the NFL rather see in the Supe? Certainly Brady....less so Manning vs. Manning, altho they'd like to have the Gints in the game. As much as they'd like Favre in the Supe, they'd prefer Dallas. Dallas v. New England. Put that in your gravelly road and smoke it...
Er....
Meanwhile, Norv appears to have coached 'em up at halftime. Norvball!
Posted by: TheCindy | January 13, 2008 2:50 PM
What if Norvball derails the Pats next week? I just blew my own mind with that one.
Posted by: TheCindy | January 13, 2008 2:52 PM
Would it not be strange if Peyton loses this game and Eli wins his?
Even stranger if the Super Bowl was a Chargers/Giants matchup - with the two QBs who were traded on draft day facing each other.
Of course we know that will never happen since the Patriots are going to the Super Bowl and will win.
Posted by: Lisa_R | January 13, 2008 2:53 PM
I can't agree with you there Cindy. Your logic is sound, of course, but America has seen Cowboys Pats.
Posted by: SMACK1 | January 13, 2008 2:55 PM
Watching this game is making me wonder if JC could make any of the throws that Rivers has made, or show the pocket presence that Philip is showing?
3rd year quarterback, going into his 4th year and second year starting.
Enough excuses, let's see what he's got...
Reality: New coach, New system, New players, No familiarity, ONLY 2nd year starting(maybe 1st full year) = FREE PASS
But for how long?
Posted by: dbussjd | January 13, 2008 2:55 PM
TV and the league luv the numbers the Boys of Cow bring.
Posted by: TheCindy | January 13, 2008 2:57 PM
Wow, intercepted at the two! What if Norv is destiny's darling this year?
Posted by: TheCindy | January 13, 2008 2:59 PM
But you've got one chance with Favre story, the Cowboys will go on forever. Hey did you know Jerome Bettis is from Detroit?
Posted by: SMACK1 | January 13, 2008 3:00 PM
Packers vs. Patriots is what I want to see...
JC is on the hot seat next year. The NFL is a win now league and his apprenticeship is over. As fans, we should rightfully have high expectations of him. The coaches have to let him fly and see what he's got. You only go as far as your QB, after all.
Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 3:01 PM
If I had two beeeelion dollars, I'd buy the Cowboys and move them to Anchorage. It would be a public service, my contribution to the American people.
Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 3:03 PM
To me it all depends on if JC will start being able to make a quick pass, throw from "half cocked". JC has the same problem that a lot of young QB's have, slow windup before the throw always looking to gun it when he would probably give his guy a better chance to catch the ball if he takes something off once in a while.
Posted by: alex35332 | January 13, 2008 3:04 PM
There you go, after a comprehensive demographic survey of the average NFL viewer, I win 1-0.
Posted by: SMACK1 | January 13, 2008 3:04 PM
I'd buy the Redskins and move them to Manila.
Posted by: SMACK1 | January 13, 2008 3:05 PM
To be clear, what I really want to see is Jessica Simpson in my bedroom. But since there's only a 25% chance of that happening, I'm going with the odds: Packers vs. Patriots.
Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 3:06 PM
Norv looks like he's giving birth.
Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 3:10 PM
When Dungy wins this challenge, Norv's head may explode.
Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 3:11 PM
Anybody got a pool going about how creatively Romo is going to choke today? "Botched hold on a field goal" was pretty good. But I think he can top it this year.
Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 3:13 PM
I'm sure that this has been "bandied" about ad nauseum, but there will be NO gm right?
I should know the answer, but I'm the guy on the board that is not sold on JC!
Posted by: dbussjd | January 13, 2008 3:14 PM
Norv is giving birth...to cute little Baby Offseason.
Okay, it's touchdown already, Dan. STFU.
Posted by: SMACK1 | January 13, 2008 3:14 PM
I'm afraid that Norv is going to go charging after the next time he comes out on the field!
Posted by: suzannepdc | January 13, 2008 3:15 PM
Diddy, perhaps he'll give us a creative reprise of "high snap off the helmet," perhaps this time headbutting the ball into the Jints' secondary.
Posted by: freakzilla | January 13, 2008 3:16 PM
I would buy the Jaguars and move them anywhere thats not Jacksonville. Maybe: LA, San Antonio, Vegas, Shoot even Southern VA would be a better market I would think. As much as I hate the Cowboys I could never relocate them because I don't think the NFL should be allowed to re-locate a team once the won a championship.
Posted by: alex35332 | January 13, 2008 3:16 PM
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Why would the 'Skins need a GM? We have a talent_evaluator, they have a racquetball_player.
Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 3:16 PM
I'd also like to add...if we keep the current roster as "in tact" as possible, Gregg will be the guy.
However I'd like to see a "players" coach like Jim Mora Jr. have a shoot for the "long term" of the franchise.
Posted by: dbussjd | January 13, 2008 3:16 PM
typical norv team implosion
Posted by: dealer | January 13, 2008 3:16 PM
Has anyone noticed that the teams in the playoffs drafted their talent, and wide receivers are over 6'2"?? Maybe they should be looking for a good talent evaluator as they have not had one for years.
Posted by: Ireland2 | January 13, 2008 3:17 PM
I really need to re my posts before I hit submit.
What I meant to say is that I am afraid that Norv is going to go after Gerry Austin.
Posted by: suzannepdc | January 13, 2008 3:17 PM
I meant shot!
Like what I'll need to have when the skins send out season ticket renewal forms!
Posted by: dbussjd | January 13, 2008 3:18 PM
what's wrong with LT???? are you kidding me?
Posted by: dealer | January 13, 2008 3:18 PM

Posted by: alex35332 | January 13, 2008 3:21 PM
OT question - This was the first year as a season ticket holder, so I did not have to pay up until July. Do you know when you do an renewal (since they only give you like 10 days to pay, I just need to be ready for it.). THanks.
Posted by: suzannepdc | January 13, 2008 3:22 PM
My gut is that he is intended to be a place holder for them to try and get Cower when he comes back in.
Posted by: alex35332 | January 13, 2008 3:23 PM
i doubt it alex. SD team is so loaded with talent on both sides of the ball. i have forgiven norv for all those after game pressers. i'm rooting for him in this game and the next if they make it to the patsies.
Posted by: dealer | January 13, 2008 3:23 PM
I bet they'd boo these kids in Philly...
Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 3:24 PM

i'd boo them at fedex. they's holding up a good game.
Posted by: dealer | January 13, 2008 3:25 PM

Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 3:26 PM
what a bs call!!! ummmmmmmmazing!
Posted by: dealer | January 13, 2008 3:27 PM
diddy, was thinking the same thing. they still have a quarter to play and he's acting like it's over.
Posted by: dealer | January 13, 2008 3:28 PM
WTF? That was a penalty?
The League has it in for Norv! Hahahaha.
Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 3:28 PM
I'm due in February...depending on the hire as HC.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Daniel signed the hc AFTER the forms went out.
Posted by: dbussjd | January 13, 2008 3:28 PM
We will see. This is Norv's 3rd or 4th HC job right, I just don't see him as a good acquisition guy.
Posted by: alex35332 | January 13, 2008 3:28 PM
shouldn't he be ejected for that?
Posted by: dealer | January 13, 2008 3:29 PM

Posted by: alex35332 | January 13, 2008 3:30 PM
where's merriman for this game? are they still testing him regularly or something?
Posted by: dealer | January 13, 2008 3:30 PM
The NFL is a joke. It's already decided, Manning bowl.
Some of the calls have been really...um shall I say strange.
It's not the WWF but it is close.
Can you tell I'm rooting for the Chargers?
Posted by: dbussjd | January 13, 2008 3:31 PM
And Rivers is kinda a douche, I had some classes with him at NCSU. However my wife worked with his wife in Raleigh and she was pretty cool.

Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 3:38 PM
So why is Snyder not interviewing Singeltary? He would be a smart guy to talk with.
Posted by: alex35332 | January 13, 2008 3:38 PM
they sure will make it tough cindy for the patsies. but never bet against brady. did you guys see that 4th and 6 conversion?
Posted by: dealer | January 13, 2008 3:39 PM
Much as I love the Peyton, my first priority is denying Pretty Boy and Dr. Evil. Of the two teams playing in this game, SD looks to be the more capable of doing that.
Posted by: freakzilla | January 13, 2008 3:40 PM
alex, i think you answered your own question.
also patsies and the colts only teams in the playoffs not wearing 21 on their helmets(?).
Posted by: dealer | January 13, 2008 3:41 PM
They are right, I did drive through Indy a few months back that new stadium is a mammoth. But nice looking for a dome.
TD Indy...

Okay, the planet may be righting itself now....I do not overrule that call, if I'm a zebra. (And if I were, I'd be Ed Hochuli.) Touchdown.
Posted by: TheCindy | January 13, 2008 3:43 PM
I saw one guy for NE wearing the 21 next to the 91 they are wearing. It was funny the stickers are so big it was starting to go on the side of helmet where the logo is.
Posted by: alex35332 | January 13, 2008 3:44 PM
i really think that the next game for AFC is the real superbowl. and the networks, nfl want brady vs. manning next week.
Posted by: dealer | January 13, 2008 3:46 PM
Other then Ed I can't even name another ref.
Posted by: alex35332 | January 13, 2008 3:46 PM
That sound you just heard? Norv's bubble bursting.
Posted by: TheCindy | January 13, 2008 3:46 PM
I do think Ed Hochuli will actually belong in the Hall of Fame.

Boys of Cow-Gints Inactives
All-Pro receiver Terrell Owens returned to the Dallas Cowboys' lineup for their NFC divisional playoff game Sunday against the New York Giants, who were playing without two of their top cornerbacks.
Veteran Sam Madison missed his second straight game with a pulled stomach muscle and backup Kevin Dockery was out with a hip flexor.
Owens, who led the NFC with 15 touchdown catches, missed the regular-season finale with a high ankle sprain. He was limited in practice Friday and was listed as questionable for the game.
Corey Webster, who had an interception and a fumble recovery while starting for Madison in the wild-card win over Tampa Bay, got the start again.
Pro Bowler Marion Barber started at halfback for Dallas in place of Julius Jones.

So am I the only person who thinks that the bye week is not nearly the advantage that they make it to be?
Posted by: alex35332 | January 13, 2008 3:50 PM
Yes.
Posted by: TheCindy | January 13, 2008 3:56 PM
One comment on the Williams interview:
I have been championing the Gregg Williams as the head coach. Then i fast forwarded in my head to NFC East games where it will be Gregg Williams on the sidelines for the Skins in critical situations. And then I remembered how we got beat like a drum on third downs etc. when he went into those Cover 2 shells and the famed Mike Nolan Prevent D. It got me frightened. Then I thought of Jon Gruden in the same position and it made me so much more comfortable.
TheCindy, any rumors at all about Jon Gruden? Is that a possibility or am I just completely wrong here. What are your thoughts about a Jon Gruden-led Redskins team.
Posted by: rbaghdad | January 13, 2008 3:56 PM
Sorry, I couldn't resist. There's plenty of precedent for the Colts that having the bye week is a disaster. Remember two years ago? I rest my case.
Posted by: TheCindy | January 13, 2008 3:57 PM
I like Jon Gruden as a coach. (I particularly enjoy calling him Chucky.) He'd be a good one, but it isn't happening here.

Can someone explain to me the whole fascination with Gruden? I just don't get it. He has had some great years but also some terrible ones.
Posted by: alex35332 | January 13, 2008 4:04 PM
Vantage Point looks cool, but I'm a sucker for Rashomon style movies...
Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 4:08 PM
I would have gone for the three there. Counted on getting it back with SD's offensive stars hurting and then given it to Vinatieri to try to win it.
Posted by: TheCindy | January 13, 2008 4:08 PM
Won a SuperBowl. Demands respect. Young coach that isn't a "players'" coach. Brilliant offensive mind. Coaches with a mean streak. You never feel overmatched when he's your coach. Only guy in decades to make the Raiders good.
I think he's the best young coach in the NFL and in the Top 3 overall.

Love 2 minute drills with HOF quarterbacks...
Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 4:12 PM
Okay - Peyton is going to win this game right now - or come out and throw a INT on 2nd down...
Posted by: suzannepdc | January 13, 2008 4:12 PM
Gruden is also under contract in Tampa, and likely to get an extension. The Glazers won't let him go anywhere (and he's got a great situation down there anyhow).
Let that one go the same direction as the Fisher dream...
Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 4:14 PM
Riddle me this...
Richie Pettibone goes 4-12, gets canned after 1 season, and people have tagged him a coaching "mistake".
The next year, Norv Turner goes 3-13 with the same team--yet keeps coaching over a total period of 7 years for a compiled record of 49-59-1 with the Skins.
He then posts a 5-11 and 4-12 record with the Raiders before leaving.
Now in his 10th season as a head coach, he goes 11-5 (with a Chargers team that was 14-2 the previous year) and appears to be on his way to a 3-1 playoff record after 2 trips to the playoffs in 10 years.
Does that make Norval a successful choice of head coach, unlike Pettibon?
Posted by: Alan4 | January 13, 2008 4:14 PM
WoW!!!!!!!!!!!! what a hit! MIH of the season
Posted by: dealer | January 13, 2008 4:15 PM
Wow. Looks like the 'Skins will have a head coach by the end of the week.
Posted by: PDiddy | January 13, 2008 4:17 PM
WOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
now peyton has more time to do those commercials!
Posted by: dealer | January 13, 2008 4:17 PM
Looks like those Indy coaches are gonna be available sooner than later.
Posted by: rallenii | January 13, 2008 4:18 PM
I just hope San Diego plays this well against NE.
Posted by: mmok | January 13, 2008 4:18 PM
Okay, officially NOT a Rivers fan - who, besides TO, gets into it with the fans?
Who to root for next week?
Posted by: suzannepdc | January 13, 2008 4:19 PM
suzanne, don't be a hater. root for a true champion (brady).
Posted by: dealer | January 13, 2008 4:21 PM
Should have known the Colts would lose when the Beat Reporter went on WaPo Live this week saying "the only game this weekend that won't be close is the Indy game. Norv Turner and the Chargers are about to get blown out."
I've never seen anyone make more erroneous predictions and assertions in my life than the Beat Reporter.
Posted by: barno | January 13, 2008 4:22 PM
I actually like Tom Brady - it's Bellichik that I think has no class! Just got to deal with the fiance talking about how great his team is! UGH!
But I HATE Tony Romo! I really want someone to knock the smirk off his face.
Posted by: suzannepdc | January 13, 2008 4:24 PM
cowher has lost so much weight
Posted by: dealer | January 13, 2008 4:25 PM
yeah...it'd be so cool if/when he leaves the patsies...for whatever reason.
Posted by: dealer | January 13, 2008 4:26 PM
Dealer, just because you love Tom Brady does not mean everyone has too. I cannot STAND the Pats (or Brady) and will support any team other than the Cowboys against them.
Posted by: Lisa_R | January 13, 2008 4:27 PM
Also found it hysterical that they brought out Richard Simmons to mock the Beat Reporter and his complaining about being overworked.
That, plus they made him do a ridiculous dance which I also got a good laugh out of.
Good stuff.
Posted by: barno | January 13, 2008 4:27 PM
lisa, you MUST come over to the darrrk side. btw, did you hate jordan too?
Posted by: dealer | January 13, 2008 4:29 PM
Regarding the purported trip to Arizona - "millions of peaches, peaches for free". This was, if anything a cursory talk with Grimm - he's not in the hunt. However, the Indy coaches (Caldwell, in particular) just became available. WOO-HOO!

How about:
Wolfowitz tells the U.S. House Budget Committee that oil exports would pay for the reconstruction of post-invasion Iraq. "It's got already, I believe, on the order of $15 billion to $20 billion a year in oil exports, which can finally -- might finally be turned to a good use instead of building Saddam's palaces," he testifies.
VICE PRES. DICK CHENEY: My belief is we will, in fact, be greeted as liberators.
SEC. RUMSFELD: Not at all. If you think -- let me take that, both pieces -- the area in the south and the west and the north that coalition forces control is substantial. It happens not to be the area where weapons of mass destruction were dispersed. We know where they are. They're in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south and north somewhat.
Pres Bush: In the battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed.
[politics off]
Posted by: Alan4 | January 13, 2008 4:32 PM
I go back to what I said earlier about SD having a better shot at beating the Pats than Indy. Now I guess we'll find out. If they play next week like they did today, it'll be interesting.
Posted by: freakzilla | January 13, 2008 4:33 PM
No, I did not hate Jordan. As far as the Patriots go, the credit should go to their O line. Brady has ALL KINDS OF TIME to throw the ball.
If not for his O line, who knows how well he would play?
Posted by: Lisa_R | January 13, 2008 4:33 PM
On the Fox pre-game show, they just said Grilliams has his second interview tomorrow.
Posted by: JustMe | January 13, 2008 4:33 PM
Jay Glazer just reported that Williams will have a second day of interviewing tomorrow.
Where does Glazer get his info?
Posted by: Lisa_R | January 13, 2008 4:34 PM
Freak, if the Chargers are without Rivers and LT next week it will be a blowout by the Pats....probably will be anyway.
Posted by: Lisa_R | January 13, 2008 4:37 PM
glazer gets info like all journalists by having sources, leaks, friends, contacts, and info feeders....
F Brady
F Jordan
F Gretzky
F Greg Maddox

Agreed, Lisa, but neither of them looked like they couldn't come back after a week's rest. They were both up and walking around.

do you guys rember when snyder called and apologized to charlie casserly for "firing the wrong guy"...meaning he should've fired norv instead...i wonder what he thinks now
Posted by: dealer | January 13, 2008 4:42 PM
dealer he did fire the wrong guy. Norv sucks the team he got in SD is loaded and over came his ineptness..
if snyder had kept casserly we might still have a GM and would have been better run...
F Norv, then, now and in the future...

Sept 2006: Mark Brunnel, 22 straight completions, 24/27 261 yds 1 TD.
--Skins 31, Texans 15
Jan 2008: Tom Brady, 26-28, 262 yds, 3 TDs
--Pats 31, Jags 20
Eerie, huh?

"Norval Turner, Super Bowl winning coach"
Anyone else hate the possible sound of that?
Posted by: PBL4 | January 13, 2008 4:50 PM
cL, agreed. it takes a special coach to f up a team like SD. and marty was that special coach.

How did we hold Marion Barber to only 1 yard rushing?
Posted by: Lisa_R | January 13, 2008 5:26 PM
Geno and I declare this to be blaw: If your team has just been knocked from the playoffs, your commercials can't be run until the next season. Sure, it's a lot of dead time, given how many commercials Peyton Manning is in, but a blaw's a blaw.

Most head coaches don't get 10 years worth of stunning mediocrity to prove themselves. Turner still has to win his next couple of games, or he's worse than Schottenheimer to me--Marty at least wins in the regular season:
Chargers:
2007 11-5-0 1st -- AFC West 2-0 - Advanced to Conference Championship, Norv Turner
2006 14-2-0 -- AFC West 0-1 - Lost Divisional Playoffs (Marty Schottenheimer fired)
Raiders:
2005 4-12-0 (Norval Turner fired)
2004 5-11-0 Norval Turner
2003 4-12-0 (Bill Callahan fired)
Redskins:
2000 7-8-0 (Norval Turner fired)
1999 10-6-0 1st -- NFC East 1-1 - Lost Divisional Playoffs, Norval Turner
1998 6-10-0 Norval Turner
1997 8-7-1 Norval Turner
1996 9-7-0 Norval Turner
1995 6-10-0 Norval TurnerM
1994 3-13-0 Norval Turner
1993 4-12-0 (Richie Petibon fired)

BTW, you are probably the same fools espousing some sort of opinion on what the deadskins should do. Hope they follow your stupidity.

The more I think of next year, NO MATTER WHO THE COACH IS, I'm worried...
Take a look at the division. Yeah, quarterback immediately comes to mind...
Collins is NOT the answer, but without a GM presence, and an OLDER I mean "veteran lead" team returning to Washington, THE LAST THING WE NEED IS A QUARTERBACK WHO COULD BE GOOD, OR ONE WHO NEEDS TO GROW INTO THE POSITION, OR ONE WHO NEEDS MORE EXPERIENCE, OR PATIENCE FOR THAT MATTER.
Unless BIG changes on our roster take place, or a change in free agent philosophy takes place...Jason cannot be our guy.
We need a veteran under center who can win NOW with the players that we have.
The current roster does not have 3-4 years, nor does the fan base have that much patience.
Our "quarterback" would also be 29-30 in 3-4 years as well.
NEXT YEAR HAD BETTER BE THE YEAR, OR WE WASTED and I mean WASTED Santana, Clinton, Shawn, Philip, Cornelius, Fred, John, Chris , and Randy's and Mike's BEST YEARS ON A quarterback experiment.
Posted by: dbussjd | January 13, 2008 6:47 PM
I hate to be the one to inform you dbussjd, but those people are already a waste.
Posted by: Ireland2 | January 13, 2008 6:52 PM
Although I think that Jason will go down as not even Jay Shroeder, it is not his fault that we don't have a GM, or a scouting philosophy that could address our teams weakness's
Posted by: dbussjd | January 13, 2008 6:55 PM
Belfast...I mean Ireland2...I could be persuaded to agree. With Jason on the roster they are "already a waste."
Posted by: dbussjd | January 13, 2008 6:58 PM
The experiment is on the lines, dbussjd. JC is good enough, but unless the O-line and can do a better job opening up running lanes and protecting whoever happens to be QB....

The Fog of Uncertainty still looms over the coaching search.
Maybe "Mr." Snyder really likes Arizona peaches and sent Jeeves in the plane out there to pick some up. "Jeeves, good sir, get to the Jet and kindly pick me up some peaches."
Really, at this point, it's the only plausible explanation.
Oh, and am I first?
