Zorn on Needing a Big Receiver
Zorn, as told to Maske at the Combine: "I don't know about a bigger kind of guy. You'd love to have the biggest, fastest guy that you can get that would dominate. But to slot a guy and say, 'We have to have a big guy on that side,' I don't know if I'd put that as a label or a necessity. Everybody wants the biggest, fastest, most dominating receivers that they can possibly get. That's what we'll be looking for and hopefully we'll have an opportunity to get a good guy. I don't want to discount the guys we've already got. Santana, he's solid. Antwaan, he's solid. There's other guys here that will have their opportunity as well."

I'm really starting to like the Zorniac.
Posted by: scampbell1975 | February 22, 2008 1:50 PM
i like that comment by zorny. no need to label specifics if you're looking for a receiver. if you want one, get the best available, whether he's 6'5 or 5'6.
espn.com is reporting that troy williamson was given the go-ahead to shop himself for a trade. anybody think this would be a guy to after for the right price? or is he too much of a brandon lloyd-type experiment to risk trading for?

E-G-R has to learn the flow of the blog. Too many posts, too close together, just stifle things around here. Maybe a post every 2.5-3.0 hours would be perfect.

They should move Lorenzo Alexander to wide receiver. He's my new favorite player.
I wonder if "Lorenzo" qualifies as a true football name (like "Rock", "Deuce", or "Night Train")...
Anyone see "Lost" last night?
Posted by: PDiddy | February 22, 2008 1:52 PM
He forgot to mention the solitudity of Brandon Lloyd.
Posted by: Dorf | February 22, 2008 1:53 PM
Just say no to Troy Williamson....The Redskins don't need to be making trades.
Posted by: gregmarino88 | February 22, 2008 1:54 PM
Diddy, the trailer for next week looked better than last night was.
I wasn't feeling Kate's "court room" look. She's much hotter on the island.
Posted by: Dorf | February 22, 2008 1:54 PM
So did Maske say Zorn had anything to say about whatever it was LaVar said?
I'm just sayin'...
Posted by: NateinthePDX | February 22, 2008 1:55 PM
"Aaron". Brilliant!
Posted by: 4-12 | February 22, 2008 1:55 PM
I totally forgot Jack and Claire were related. That makes it interesting!
Posted by: Dorf | February 22, 2008 1:57 PM
gregmarino - if the skins were planning on using their 3rd rounder for a WR anyway, would it be worth it to go for the unknown unknown college guy or the relative unknown WR who's been stuck under the shell of travaris jackson?
Posted by: psps23 | February 22, 2008 1:58 PM
Poor Corkczar... two post-BEEP looooong posts... when he gets here he's going to be really mad.
Posted by: daggar | February 22, 2008 1:58 PM
The only problem with Troy Williamson is that he can't catch the ball reliably. He'd make a great safety or cornerback.

If Collins returns, that would likely mean Mark Brunell's time with the Redskins is over. Zorn said Brunell has told him he wants to be, at the very least, a No. 2 quarterback.
"We're trying to figure out Mark's situation and he's trying to figure out his situation," Zorn said. "He wants to be a No. 2 as well. He's highly competitive and has had a great career and still has some stuff left."
Asked if it's conceivable that all three quarterbacks could return in 2008, Zorn said he didn't know.
Posted by: kerzon417 | February 22, 2008 2:00 PM
Wasn't Williamson the 7th overall pick in the draft? I just think he's not that good a player, and the Redskins would be better served by drafting a Wide-out....
Ok, so can SOME-ONE tell me what Lavar said?? Did he talk poorly of my mother?
Posted by: gregmarino88 | February 22, 2008 2:01 PM
good call daggar... that has a potential to be hilarious. sween simspon's quote hilarious.

see, he'd fill two needs with a possible 3rd need as well. that's worth at least a 1st and a 3rd.

I'm going to start "air-horn"ing you gregmarino... Antonio Pierce style.

Yeah, he said something about her having a 48 iq and said it would be revealed many year from now that she was "mentally challenged".
Sorry Greg, I couldn't resist.

Troy Williamson = Brandon Lloyd with a higher price tag
Watch Vinny sign him now.
Posted by: tafka | February 22, 2008 2:04 PM
oh... and that was ARE talking about your mother. He can get away with it though... he's really funny and has a convincing smile.

"He'll be good for Jason because it's a veteran instructing a guy when I'm not in the room. He has a sense of rhythm and a sense of timing that it takes to run plays and get the ball out. He's learned different systems. He hasn't always been in one system."
"Collins' biggest upside is his cerebralnessitification. Let's face it, we're only going to have half the number of offensive coaches as last year; I figure Zorn needs as much help as he can get."
--from the early days of the "Collins, Albright, and Forst" thread.
Hmm, Collins, Albright and Forst. No Fee Unless WE Win!
Posted by: daggar | February 22, 2008 2:07 PM
I'm Greg Marino. People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I enjoy ice cream and a nice pair of slacks. Years later, a doctor will tell me I have an I.Q. of 48 and that I am considered mentally retarded.
Posted by: gregmarino88 | February 22, 2008 2:08 PM
Maybe if Collins re-signs, he can get the Eastern Motors gig this year.

ahh yes, Collins, Albright and Forst... those were the days.
Posted by: Dorf | February 22, 2008 2:10 PM
corkczar, you here yet? low hanging fruit and the Tuck Rule ... that's funny! I like it ... will work it into my material. Are trying to out "last" Old School or something?

no word on if we are changing the uniforms yet to make Zorn's dream a reality?
Posted by: alex35332 | February 22, 2008 2:15 PM
Somehow, Collins doesn't strike me as Eastern Motors material.
Posted by: daggar | February 22, 2008 2:18 PM
dcsween, there is no way I could work at the DMV and tolerate the people that are angry with the world because they have to get SR-22 insurance for THEIR DUI. Or the individual who is highly PO'd because their DL has them listed as a organ donar and how it violates their religious beliefs. But in case you're wondering the letters DMV are for DC, MD, and VA.

Yellow jerseys with black numbers and trim.
Maroon pants.
Black socks.
Black helmets with a yellow circled Z in maroon.
How does that sound?
Posted by: tafka | February 22, 2008 2:20 PM
The Fins apparently won't be trying to re-sign RG Rex Hadnot.
RC, is this someone the Skins should look at?
Posted by: kerzon417 | February 22, 2008 12:29 PM
You've gotta be kidding. He lost his starting position in pre-season to a rookie and then just about got it back to start the season. He'd be an 'okay' backup but isn't likely to be starter material anywhere from now on.

eastern motors will be coming out with a new commercial to kick off the season. it will feature collins, suisham, forst, yoder, and the red snapper. and CP. can't forget CP.

Talent in the NFL is divided between the Haves and the Hadnots.

I prefer Select Auto Imports. Anyone else notice how Shawn Springs is talking on that ad on the radio? He sounds like he has a case of the cotton mouth, his tongue may be oversized, and he's from Mississippi.

On Campbell fitting into the West Coast passing game: "If Jason Campbell was a plodder, a guy who was a slow drop-back guy and couldn't move, it would be difficult for him. Jason has excellent feet. When I watch him, I think he can move his feet very well. I'll have to drill him on the idea of moving, changing direction and getting rid of the ball on-rhythm. I think he can do it."
The problem with Jasno and the West Coast O is not with Jasno's feet, but with his touch. Jasno can't consistently put the ball out in front of a guy coming out of the backfield in full stride...

Recap -
I have to admit - Some of the things you need to take wit ha grain of salt.
• He says he is looking at this from a fans point of view.
• He said he talked to GG after he left the Redskins and he won't discuss the specifics. But said he should've been the next HC
• He basically slammed Gibbs 2.0
• He basically said Snyder used Gibbs as cover for the last 4 years because the fans won't slam Gibbs.
• He says everyone keeps jumping ship on the Redskins whether it's a player or coaches.
• Said Gibbs is one of them since he left with one year on the contract. Basically called him out.
• He said its not about winning and really about the $$
• He said he feel the team will use the #28 & #81 HOF ceremony as cover for the current year.
• Said the place is not conducive to winning at the moment.

I think we should avoid trading for a WR or picking one up a free agency. Mario Manningham from Michigan will probably be there for us in Round 1. Good size, speed, great hands and separation ability. Then we can still focus on the O and D lines in the early rounds.

Again I say, get a big, fast WR or else we are the Philadelphia Eagles. EL and Santana are great and all but we need and deserve more. I like the plan to focus on D-Line but we need to get lucky here, at the WR.

The Redskins need a big Receiver but can't go around tampering! They can't lose another draft pick after they already lost one in death!
