From Jason Reid:

Tickets for the Aug. 3 Hall of Fame game, featuring the Redskins and Indianapolis Colts, at Canton, Ohio, will go on sale April 14, the Hall of Fame announced yesterday. Beginning at 11 a.m. on the first day of availability, tickets can be purchased through the Hall of Fame's website (profootballhof.com) or by calling 800-913-9788.
Tickets are $50 for sideline seats and $40 for those in the end zone. Tickets are limited to six per household, purchases are nonrefundable and tickets will be mailed on June 25.
Of course, former Redskins Darrell Green and Art Monk will be inducted into the Hall of Fame the day before the game.

Take your time, I'm enjoying my vacation.

There should be a strong turnout from the RI blog at Hall of Fame weekend, from what people have said on the blog since Green and Monk were elected.

Sounds like a great meet-up opportunity.

Also, greater Canton is lovely.

Haaa...Haaa yeah those? I think Gibbs still wore those last training camp...Remember what they would look like if you had your wallet in your back pocket???

Hilarious

Posted by: sicwidit | April 8, 2008 10:22 PM

i cant stomach you putting stephan davis on that list, that dude was a warrior for the skins....

and he got sucker punched...

Posted by: chris larry | April 8, 2008 10:23 PM

C'mon Chris...

He was a warrior but he cost us some games, man...some critical ones. All I know is that he got his a** kicked too.

Posted by: sicwidit | April 8, 2008 10:28 PM

he won us a lot more games than he lost, single handidly willed us to the playoffs, played FB when asked, got jobbed by that siht bag spurrier, was the only guy to root for for years, set all kinds of records on bad teams, and proved he still had it even after we cut him.....

And he got sucker punched by a blackbelt a-hole, pretty eay to get your azz kicked when getting coldcocked and than jumped on by a person you never expect to attack you...

F your list

Posted by: | April 8, 2008 10:32 PM

whoops that was me...and not Fu sicwidit....just your list...typical fun sports bar arguement is all...

Posted by: chris larry | April 8, 2008 10:34 PM

Wow...you got some kind of mancrush or something...Why you gotta "F" my list?

Posted by: sicwidit | April 8, 2008 10:34 PM

one of my all time faves....I gotta reprezent..

Ok how about this, F SD on your list...the rest I am down with...

Posted by: chrIS larry | April 8, 2008 10:35 PM

What you forget is that he couldn't stay healthy for us, and he could barely run through arm tackles for us. Sorry, but he still cost us the Cardinals game. I took that one personally. I also hated Michael Westbrook, but Davis must have REALLY done something for that

Posted by: sicwidit | April 8, 2008 10:37 PM

5 questions

1) Why did the Skins let ND Kalu go?
2) Why do people still talk about Ryan Clark?
3) Was Clint Didier better than Chris Cooley?
4)Was Mike Nelms better than Brian Mitchell?
5) What happened to Jumpy Gathers?

understandable, though, sicwidit. five Darryls and two Daryls, and only two Darrells...

Ashmore, Darryl, T, Northwestern (1996-97)
Grant, Darryl, DT, Rice (1981-90)
Moore, Darryl, G, UTEP (1992-93)
Morrison, Darryl, S, Arizona (1993-96)
Pounds, Darryl, CB, Nicholls State (1995-99)

Gardener, Daryl,DT, Baylor (2002)
Terrell, Daryl, OL, Southern Miss. (2003)

Dess, Darrell, G, North Carolina State (1965-66)
Green, Darrell, CB, Texas A&I (1983-02)
Russell, Darrell, DT, USC (2003)

Posted by: | April 8, 2008 10:45 PM

Cooley is better than Didier was, but Didier was pretty good. Better than Cooley was Jerry Smith for pure pass catching. Then again, Jerry had Sonny throwing to him.

Nelm only returned punts, but he was great. A better punt returner than Mitchell.

Posted by: skinfanman | April 8, 2008 10:49 PM

forgive me Darrell!!! You're the man...

He still can probably run a 4.4 and is probably still bettet than Smoot and Rogers

not run through arm tackles?! whateves...your take on SD is straight tard...but whateves you gotta do you, so keep on keepin on...

Geathers 2.0

no mention of the "forklift" move. maybe that skill skips a generation.

Posted by: | April 8, 2008 10:54 PM

I agree "skin"...

Cooley is more of an offense threat, but Didier was good too...Boy, I remember some key 3rd and 8's Didier caught!

Posted by: sicwidit | April 8, 2008 10:54 PM

Kalu was let go after Sam almost blew a fuse trying to pronounce his first name.

Posted by: | April 8, 2008 10:55 PM

Great research on Jeremy Gathers

Posted by: sicwidit | April 8, 2008 10:57 PM

This can be characterized as an unruly fray. The blog has turned chaotic.

Whoever the dope is that is hammering away at, making fun of Nate needs to quit it.

This just isn't funny (except for the part about the "jorts!")

Now, that is HILARIOUS!

Posted by: Stop It! | April 8, 2008 11:03 PM

I believe the blog was never the same after these tools showed up. We had a good run staying polite and civil...

Posted by: Dorf | April 8, 2008 11:06 PM

sicwidit, we fondly remember all those role player guys because they were a part of something great. on other teams maybe they would be "just a guy" sort of players. but when you have a run of sustained glory like that, even role players had great moments, gave us great memories.

I think Didier was a backup most of the time to Donnie Warren, wasn't he? but yeah, he had some great moments in a great offense.

Stephen Alexander and maybe even Jamie Asher were really good receiving TEs for us, and Cooley will probably wind up being our "best ever," but you'll get no argument here that Didier was pretty darn good.

Posted by: | April 8, 2008 11:06 PM

Two great great players are going in that wore the burgundy and gold. Just hope Snyder is smart enough to buy a few billboards for the Skins fans to enjoy on that drive to Canton

Posted by: AL Zeke etc | April 8, 2008 11:10 PM

this should be a pretty interesting story to watch, in light of what a lot people think will be a labor meltdown between the league and the union...

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3336017

boy, Upshaw and Tagliabue sure don't have the luster they had during the heyday of their buddy-buddy partnership, do they? no surprise Tags didn't get in to the HOF.

billboards for this place, maybe? apparently it used to be a six flags.

Why does everyone hate me?

Will people hate me less when the Redskins win a Superbowl?

Will winning football games make a difference in people's negative perception of me?

Do I even care what people think about me?

Nice article from Dr. Z on Bobby Beathard, from just before the '88 season. I think the "SI Vault" has been mentioned up here before -- SI opened up its entire archive of articles and photos and stuff. Tons of Skins material in there, of course. I turned up this article (those were the days...) looking for Clint Didier material.

Are you a Redskins fan? I can't imagine being in the same town where the Redskins are playing, with plenty of tix available, and watching it at a "local watering hole."

Posted by: | April 9, 2008 7:19 AM

The limited HOF tickets that will be made available will sell out in under an hour. The vendors selling HOF weekend packages got first shot at the lion's share of the tickets.

Posted by: oem987 | April 9, 2008 7:56 AM

Reminds me of that old saw "civilisation is only three missed meals from anarchy", except in this case it's to do with registration and a$$clowns such as, like maps, etc. but I'm sure you get what I mean.

But it was good to see daveb55 round these parts again, if indeed it is he.

I will be at the game for sure! My stupid buddy already bought one of those BS packages from Stubhub, what a rip! My advice to the travelers is to stay in Akron or New Philadelphia. I chose New Philadelphia (amish country). The rooms in Canton are already overpriced. Akron has some nightlife, but N. Philly has the golf and something for the Ms. to do. Since both events are in the afternoon/evening you should check out the area. See you guys there!

Posted by: OhioTransplant | April 10, 2008 9:51 AM

Having already purchased Plane Ticket Hotel reservations, car rental, nice to finally see the tickets go on sale, been trying since the HOF announcement about Green and Monk. Everyone was saying NO SALE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC..Glad you got the scoop..Will be on line at 11:00 that for sure.

Posted by: DKSkinsfan | April 10, 2008 11:51 PM

Anyone actually get tix? I tried, but the way the HoF had it set up it was practically impossible. Pretty peeved about that. If anyone has some for sale at a reasonable price for a game that means nothing for the season let me know...billy881@msn.com
