something tells me that game against GG won't be meaningless...
not that I know anybody involved personally.
Posted by: Dorf | April 3, 2008 2:21 PM
So Jason ... are you gonna write a book on the 2007 Skins. Was one of the most fascinating seasons ever. Lots of angles to choose from. And you were in the front row.
Posted by: zcezcest1 | April 3, 2008 2:21 PM
You'd think the fact that it's the final preseason game (a traditional snore unlike any other) would take a little steam out of the return of the third G....

Wow. Only four months until they tee it up. It seems like it's been forever since the last game.

"Police arrest man for siphoning 300 gallons of grease from Burger King"
So, what's going on in your hometown?
Posted by: zcezcest1 | April 3, 2008 02:15 PM
My neighbor developed a process (patent pending) to convert the cooking oil from fast food places like Burger King into bio-diesel. He has a contract with all the local fast food places to collect their waste cooking oil which he then converts and sells as biodiesel. If you buy it containers, there is no tax. If you fill up your diesel vehicle, you do pay tax. He sells all he can make, with regular diesel hovering around 4 dollars a gallon.
That used cooking oil is valuable stuff.

Or you can convert your diesel vehicle to burn vegetable oil:

I keep forgetting to write this. Last year there were very few post-June 1 cap casualties. It seems like most of the roster cuts of veterans happened right after the draft. Maybe that's because of the ability of clubs to designate 2 cuts as post-June 1st types now. In any case, Vinny needs to be ready to sign vets right after the draft this year. Waiting until June 1st could leave a team out of luck.

just like playing madden... preseason is meant to cripple teams with injuries to key players.
Exit.
Continue without saving.
Reload season.

Cindy, someone should lose their job over this... and if its your fault, find and intern and make them the scapegoat. I'm willing to let you ruin someone's bright and promising career so that you can save some face.

Re: 5 Games PLayed in Preseason -
Have you noticed that our last 3 new Head coaches had 5 preseason games to play in their repective 1st year? Spurrier (Japan), Gibbs 2.1 (HOF Game with season ending Jansen injury), and now Zorn.
Coincidence? I think not. Thanks to Dan Snyder being a key member on the HOF commitee.....

Chris Henry has to clear waivers. What's the chances that Vinny pulls the trigger and picks up his contract? It'll be non-binding if he does.

4th, earlier today on Redskins Radio, they were discussing the fact that before the 2005 draft, Vinny was wary of Pacman because of his off-the-field issues while at WVU.
I would think that speaks to the fact that he's probably still wary of Pacman today (and the Skins likely won't make any move for him), and that there isn't much chance of the Skins picking up Chris Henry.

Has anyone ever been given a nickname as a result of a contest? I think that nicknames arise in practice, not because some "media schlub" decrees them. "Well it's time for us to think up something to call Vinny."
Those of you who have nicknames, did you get it because someone said, "We need a nickname for Melvin?" or did it happen because you spilled chocolate pudding all over yourself and they called you Icky Sticky? If you look at the nicknames on the Wiki, most of them you can't find anyplace but the Wiki because they haven't stuck.
http://redskinsinsiders.wetpaint.com/page/Redskins%27+Blog+Nicknames
No one had a contest to make Jason Jasno. It just happened, out of the brain of Nate I think, and it stuck because it sounded right. And Cindy, too. We just gave her the nickname, Cindy, and everyone uses it because it sounds so much like her real name. Okay, maybe we need a contest for Cindy?

Last 5 offseasons. Is favre gonna retire? Now its is Favre gonna come back?
Media has way too much time on its hands and just likes to fabricate things or make a big deal about nothing. Leinart had a party at his house. Who the hell cares? thats what 24 year olds do.

So with so many people saying the skins should trade down who are potential trade partners. Teams trying to get ahead of the Cowboys for a RB? If their rumored interest in Felix Jones is true. Maybe Shanahan has gone long enough without a stud RB - he has to be feeling some heat to turn that team around faster. What other potential sliders are there that would generate enough interest for another team to move up? Jonathon Stewart? Brian Brohm, Philip Merling (might rather the skins took him)?

Here we go again...
Ok, I'm bored at work so I'll bite Sports_Guru. Why will we regret it? Which team in the NFl will actually give us something of value for Campbell at this point?
I think it's crazy that after playing about 16 games total, people are ready to give up on this kid, who has shown some great stuff during that time too. Do I think he's Peyton or Brady, hell no, but no one else in the NFL is either. QBs like them come every 10 years, if that. Fact is, I like the fact that Zorn is a former QB and QB coach who helped Hasselback tremendously. If Campbell can take his game to that level, I'd be more than happy, especially with a solid running game. Seriously Guru, who do you see us picking up in either FA or the draft this year that could be considered an improvement? And I'm sorry, but I'm not buying the Todd Collins argument when he's played a total of like 10 games in his 10+ year career. And the vast majority in one system, no less.

Obviously the Skins FO does not know that JC is a bad QB and you can tell that he is. So, if you know he is and other FO are not as bad as the Skins FO, then they also know that JC is NOT a good QB, so why would they give us something of value for him????????
Either go away or try posting something more positive on the Skins!

guru,
How will 5 meaningless games, that both teams are merely trying to survive without injury, become so momentous?

Posted by: mtnskinsfan | April 3, 2008 04:18 PM
We won't know who the trade partners are until after the 20th pick. It depends entirely on who's on the board when it's the 'Skins turn.

The way to figure out who might trade down with us would be to figure out who picks after us (Dallas, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Seattle, Jacksonville, San Diego, Dallas, San Fran, Green Bay, and New York G) and figure out their "needs" ... then you could figure out who might trade up when someone falls.
In other words, its impossible to figure out who might trade down with the Skins.
Also, according to all the mock drafts and publicly available scouting information, there's this QB out of Notre Dame who should go in the top five ... I think we should trade up to get there ... wait, it was Brady Quinn ... and he was still available after the 21st pick. But Mel Coiffure did have him right near the top of his "Big Board".
