Skins Trade ... Again
Skins trade their 5th round pick while on the clock. They send the 157th pick and the 228nd pick (7th round) for the Rams picks at 168 and 180 - both sixth round picks. So the Skins end up without a 5th round pick after all, but have three 6th round picks and two 7th round picks, both of those are comp picks at the end of the draft.
Both QBs they like are still out there, and a few DTs as well.

St Louis does have 2 high 6th rounders...
Posted by: Shrshot | April 27, 2008 2:46 PM
probly got 168 and 180
Posted by: | April 27, 2008 2:46 PM
They have been drafting guys projected to go in the 7th anyway so we might as well pick up later picks and select guys like Dixon there.
Posted by: kreitmaster | April 27, 2008 2:46 PM
Prediction,
SS Barnett
LB Erin Henderson
A DE
A some suprices.

i would guess they wanted frank okam. ok trade. i like that they're trying with these trades.
Posted by: eh | April 27, 2008 2:48 PM
Looks like 2 6th round picks for our 5th. Good deal.
Posted by: Nobcentral | April 27, 2008 2:48 PM
Dixon is gone.
It is funnu the picks that we trade away are just mostly on players I like :P
Posted by: Wilco | April 27, 2008 2:48 PM
word is that we got 2 6th round picks, 2 and 20
Posted by: riggo drill | April 27, 2008 2:48 PM
2nd pick in the 6th round, 14th pick in the 6th round, and the 20th pick in the 6th round. Hopefully they'll be someone worthwhile to pick in those spots.
Posted by: Greg | April 27, 2008 2:48 PM
Who cares. If we now get 11 picks in one draft great that means that we get to pick half a starting linup.
Posted by: Alex35332 | April 27, 2008 2:48 PM
How much difference is there between a 5th and 6th rounder. The skins still have several positions to address. The more picks the better.
Posted by: marlonjohn | April 27, 2008 2:48 PM
They got 2nd and 14th on 6 round
Posted by: | April 27, 2008 2:49 PM
We recieved St. Louis' 7th rounder and Trung Candidate.
Posted by: troy | April 27, 2008 2:49 PM
From rams we get an 8th round pick, $1 off a papajohn's pizza and a cheerleader to be named later.
We'll pick a punter, Danny Ainge (in a typo), and that Army safety, who can moonlight in the pentagon.
Posted by: Notfirst | April 27, 2008 2:49 PM
Hope we can get some more big receivers with the 6th round picks...Cant have enough receivers. The Skins are the new Lions
Posted by: rick | April 27, 2008 2:49 PM

Posted by: troy | April 27, 2008 2:49 PM
That's not even funny.
Posted by: CowboyH8r | April 27, 2008 2:50 PM
Maybe they think if they keep trading back they won't have to pick at all???
Does that make sense?
Posted by: The Cheese | April 27, 2008 2:50 PM
So long as we end up with Nicks or some other appropriate road grader I don't care!
Posted by: egrib | April 27, 2008 2:50 PM
starting to think Vinnie and Danny are afraid to make their own picks. keep trading down to where the pressure is not so intense. morons. when are we finally going to get good football people making good football decisions on this team? Vinnie is the joke of the league.
Posted by: oddjob | April 27, 2008 2:50 PM
+++Both QBs they like are still out there, and a few DTs as well+++--JASNO
Bet they won't be by the time this team, enslaved to their "board" picks with its new trade downs.
Can't prove it, but I'd bet they lost CIALI CAMPBELL an DENNIS DIXON right before they picked. I'd bet BUGES didn't like Scheuning.
Mebbe they should sue these last four Garbage Time picks on the halt and the lame, who like Golston and Monty might pan out.

How's this for BUILDING through the draft.
Posted by: sicwidit | April 27, 2008 2:53 PM
Don't like this trade. we didnt ADD any picks, and trading down doesnt reasult in as much value in later rounds as it does in earlier rounds. We'll probably now miss out on quality guy like Robertson.

If this team does all this trading just to get Erik Ainge I am going to crap in my hand and throw it at the television.
Posted by: brad | April 27, 2008 2:53 PM
we better draft some defensive linemen, that's all i have to say
Posted by: CapsFanInHollywood | April 27, 2008 2:53 PM
If it make you feel better, the Rams also threw in that kid that grabs the tee of the field. (He is one of the fastest in the league, and he is large for a nine year old.)
Posted by: DWC | April 27, 2008 2:54 PM
This is just a trade to make trade. Its Danny playing with his toy. Danny get a life and leave the draft room to people who know wtf they are doing.
Posted by: oddjob | April 27, 2008 2:54 PM
Everyone is always a hater. There making good moves. We need solid back ups in this draft that can become good starters after gaining some expierence. Im tired of reading everyone hating on the skins. Its like they cant do anything right. This is the best draft we have had in a long time. Vinny is doing a good job. Remember we dont have to pay anyone a huge 1st round size contract. Which means that money can be used later..
Posted by: MIke | April 27, 2008 2:55 PM
tampa got all the 2nd day players i wanted...dre and josh johnson
Posted by: | April 27, 2008 2:55 PM
this really wasnt a bad trade. Theres still guys on the board to fill in our needs and we moved from the end of the 5 to the beginning of the 6th and got more picks..not bad at all
Posted by: hail196 | April 27, 2008 2:55 PM
Now we have three sixes. It's the sign of the anti-christ. I knew Snyder was evil. 'splains the thingy with Tom Cruise.
Posted by: Notfirst | April 27, 2008 2:55 PM
looks like our QB pick will be Ainge.

Take, Barrett, Keith, and Nicks in the 6th.
Posted by: Greg | April 27, 2008 2:56 PM
Josh Johnson gone...what are we doing??
Posted by: Wilco | April 27, 2008 2:57 PM
Am I crazy or is Erin Henderson a good LB that has fall way farther than he should have? He led the Maryland defense. He's good man. And he dropped so far. We need a LB. Washington can't stay healthy. Rocky probably wont be healthy. And Fletch is old.
I say Henderson should be top priority.
Posted by: balls | April 27, 2008 2:57 PM
Josh Johnson just drafted by TB. Does Chucky need anymore Qbs?
Posted by: straub21 | April 27, 2008 2:57 PM
Gruden's still collecting QBs. LOL The Bucs just got Josh Johnson.
Posted by: JustMe | April 27, 2008 2:57 PM
The QB, Johnson was just taken. This should hopefully lead us to take Dixon at the top of the 6th. Come on Vinny!
Posted by: Nobcentral | April 27, 2008 2:57 PM
We messed up that one...We're going to lose Dixon and we already lost Johnson...so much for drafting a QB this year.
Posted by: Man | April 27, 2008 2:57 PM
Josh Johnson is GONE!!!!! Vinny has to be crying..... NICKS, NICKS, NICKS, NICKS!!!!
Posted by: CLEGG | April 27, 2008 2:58 PM
Marcus Howard....gone
I see posible Skins flying off the board.
Posted by: Wilco | April 27, 2008 2:58 PM
I like the trading, I just don't see why we have to throw these lower picks in, the other team trades up to get an offensive lineman, they give us 2 picks to go up, the 7th didn't need to be thrown in. Love to have had 3 in each ofn next 2 rounds. OH well, like to see how this next 3 in 20 picks spot goes
Posted by: BBD36 | April 27, 2008 2:58 PM
THANK YOU NEW YORK JETS!!!! Ainge is off the board!

No Mike. Their are some. But not EVERYONE who disagrees with the Rocket Surgeons at Redskin Park is a HATER.
Damn, man.
Getting devin Thomas with 34 instead of 21? Brilliant.
Drafting THREE receivers? Dont' know yet.
Losing out on Cialis campbell and Dennis DIxon because they were outfoxed? Maybe not so freaking BRILLIANT.
Posted by: Corkczar & Mayock | April 27, 2008 2:59 PM
Ainge is gone.
We need to go Woodson if we want a QB.
Posted by: Wilco | April 27, 2008 2:59 PM
Ainge is gone, no worries.
Posted by: | April 27, 2008 2:59 PM
I say Henderson and Dixon (the DE) with our next picks. They both fill needs, they're both slipping dramatically, but both could probably come in an contribute right away. Come on Vinny! Help the D!
Posted by: Nobcentral | April 27, 2008 3:00 PM
Thank goodness Ainge is now gone!! J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS

For those of you wanting Dixon, WAKE UP. He was drafted a while ago.
Posted by: | April 27, 2008 3:01 PM
balls, quite being a homer, Henderson is far from a good pick for us.
Posted by: Maryland sucks!! | April 27, 2008 3:01 PM
Seriously..is drafting a QB THAT big of a priority?? we have a good young qb in cambell who is making improvements and a solid back up in collins. Yes, he is getting older but he is still a solid back up as we saw last year. Eric Ainge is still on the board he is a big guy with a good frame for a qb in this league
Posted by: Hail196 | April 27, 2008 3:01 PM
If we have the Nobcentral senario, I send Vinny and Dan postcard from Holland whit somthing nice.
Posted by: Wilco | April 27, 2008 3:01 PM
Maybe Vinny will reveal his new and improved draft chart on e-bay.
Crunching numbers now...there is a way teh skins can parlay all their remaomomg 2008 and 2009 picks and garner all remaining picks in the 7th round!
Can we draft Mel Kiper Jr?
Posted by: notfirst | April 27, 2008 3:02 PM
Skins are looking to package picks and trade down for future 8th rounders (contingent upon Goodell adding an extra round to future drafts).

and the giants pick right before us AGAIN!!!
DAMN , seattle took owen schmitt.
Posted by: | April 27, 2008 3:04 PM
Danny Ainge is still available.
And that QB from Hawaii is still available. If he's got a nice pad near the beach, I'd draft him just for a place to stay during the Pro Bowl.
Posted by: notfirst | April 27, 2008 3:04 PM
Is it just me or does Mel Kiper look more like an 1960's italian gagster each year. I think the guy is turning into a charecter from casino.
Cut your hair Mel.
Posted by: DWC | April 27, 2008 3:05 PM
It now seems they've gone from smart, talent-evaluating, draft strategem, to a kind of "let's amass as many picks as possible through trades" route. It's like they're playing to the law of averages. Pick a ton of guys, and hopefully a couple will work out. I hope I'm wrong.
Posted by: Mike | April 27, 2008 3:06 PM
We are still in line to take the highest rated punter on the Board!

Posted by: | April 27, 2008 3:14 PM
O my......we just drafted a kicker. And not even a good one.
Posted by: | April 27, 2008 3:14 PM
Not a good one?? He won the Ray Guy award (for best punter) in 2007, was a finalist in 2006, and has been mentored, personally, by Ray Guy. You get the mute button.

It is amazing how many people are actually in the 'Skins' war room. I guess I didn't get the e-mail where the team outlined their draft philosophy for its fans. Let's stop pretending like we KNOW what they're trying to do. Perhaps they and Blache aren't as worried about the D-Line as we think they are. Even without Rogers, McIntosh and Taylor the second half of last year, the D was the strong point of this team. Wait for the season, then if they go 5-11, you can talk about the sky falling.
