Odell Thurman
Getting bombarded with emails on this one and figured I'd post about it here.
The Bengals released the talented but troubled LB today, and yes, the Skins could use depth at LB, but I'd be stunned if this one goes down.
Been poking around on this and see no evidence of Skins interest at all to this point and would be shocked if they put in a waiver claim (heard they did not, in fact). Thurman's next slip up, should there be one, could keep him out of the league for a long, long time and he's already been away for the game for the past two seasons due to substance abuse violations.
Don't see Greg Blache making a move for this guy. Someone may in fact claim him off waivers - Thurman is on his rookie contract and the former second-round pick has a modest contract - but he's a natural inside LB and the Skins have HB Blades backing up London Fletcher there. They could use a someone to replace Randall Godfrey as a super-sub of sorts on the outside, but, again, everything I hear to this point is that the Skins are not looking at this guy.

Is it really necessary for felons and drug addicts to "beg for a spot w/ the Cowboys"?

Rumor is that the Danny wants to have an all jewish team and is going to do whatever it takes to be able to go old testament on the rest of the nfl.

The cowboys and bengals are the portland jailblazers of football. I'll pass on that. We're the butt of enough spending issue jokes...

With that said, if you want a linebacker for depth that has starting experience then I would much rather go after Takeo Spikes at this point.
Posted by: RIV | May 19, 2008 7:44 PM
is Takeo on the market?

FA LB Spikes Undecided On Destination
Clipped from The Sacramento Bee

A number of you have been asking for a Takeo Spikes update. Spikes, it seems, is taking his time in choosing a suitor. The 49ers, Browns, Saints and Patriots all are interested in his services. The linebacker visited San Francisco earlier this month, and the 49ers were not scared off by the torn rotator cuff that ended Spikes' 2007 season prematurely.

We could use Odell guy is a stud!! He has probowl potential/talent. Hope we go after him all he has been charged with is a DUI no big deal in my opinion.

Hey guys don't know if you are interested but I started playing this sweet pro football simulator. Its like Madden franchise/coach mode only you don't physically play the game. You build players, trade, sign, own teams, etc. Its addicting.

We live in Cincy and the word on Odell is that his drug of choice was Crystal Meth and that he failed 2 drug tests while with the Bengals, the second being why he was suspended for the whole year. Marvin was on local here and said that Odell did not want to play for the Bengals anymore and showed it when he failed to show up for the Voluntary Work outs.
Lot of rumors about him here in town, main one being that he likes to do crystal meth, all over the radio shows here. I think if they are not real, he is worth taking a shot on, at the very least you can cut him after the mini-camps, etc. Go skins!!
