4th, ST changed his jersey after year one. It pointed to in the story thay after a certain number of years, if you have a number you are 'strongly encouraged' to keep it so it doesnt look like the nfl is trying to rachet up revenue on jersey sales.

The Davis thing:
It seems like the public is being left out of this incident. This may be okay. I know if I'm working on a new job (with huge bucks involoved), I'm doing everything I can to impress my boss. Oversleeping and missing practice isn't good. Now if the veteran guys had something to do with this, then fine - maybe is was some rookie hazing or something. I can only hope Fred Davis is more responsible than simply oversleeping, as stated.

Zorn with QB's:
I'm fine with this, Zorn needs to know these guys inside and out. Anything he can do to help JC along is definately needed. This is JC's coming out year, maybe next year given the fact he has a whole new offense to learn and get in sync with all the other players. Zorn needs to know each QB's strength and weakness and make decisions on playing time and play calling in different situations. I like the fact he's spending a lot of time with the QB's. It is the most important position on the field and we've been weak at this spot of quite some time.

Portis/Landry Race.
I like this, shows team cohesiveness and lets them have some fun. If one would have gotten hurt, then I wouldn't like this, lol. A friend said today, if pro athletes can't run without pulling a muscle then they shouldn't be playing pro football, weed them out early. I'm taking the younger faster LL in future races, not to take anything away from Cp and his speed.

Good mini camp, but the Redskins have so much work ahead of them. Getting the chemistry right this season will be close to impossible. I'm hoping the veteran team can pull through in the end.

Did I read correctly that Philip Daniels has jumped up nearly 20 lbs.? As in his playing weight? Wow, that's a solid addition in a 4 month span. Maybe he'll be moved to DT and be our new interior pass-rusher that we were looking for.

20 lbs in 4 months. I don't think I could do that if I tried, let alone be able to do it while staying physically fit. That's damn impressive.

I don't mind Zorn's soundbites because he's trying to not turn the episode into a controvery/story and put added pressure on Fred Davis. But really I Davis is running all day until he pukes and passes out. Anything less than stern, visible discipline will be a tremendous disappointment to yours truly. It's a long slippery slope once the inmates get empathy at the assylum. Zen don't win football games...

Once he signs the contract, though....

I must warn you I have precious little knowledge of the on-water recreational life, I didn't got bitten by the bug - particularly once I realised that I swim like a stone. But I can pun with the worst of them!

I, personally am scared of boats. But we bought a home on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. There are 21 barrier islands, and you can only reach three of them by car. If you have a boat your family can be the only people on an 8-mile long Atlantic beach. So, we took the plunge and I became semi-competent, although now I worry I lost my limited boating skills over the winter. Some of the life-long boaters down there enjoy watching me dock and are generous in offering advice on how I can do it better next time and with less damage to the boat.

Sort of like you explaining a malapropism. Only they don't point out that my iq declines each time I crash into the dock, even if that's what they're probably thinking.

Sounds like a good trade t_e, overcoming your fears (somewhat) for the promise of idyllic quality time with the family in return.

My experience of boating people is that they're a friendly lot, particularly if they realise that you're not 'competing' with them (who's the best sailor, has best boat, etc.) and as long as you can afford the repairs, just keep truckin' your own way!

Hard to say about boaters. Mine is a power boat, not a sailboat so the people are different, and the people on the Eastern Shore are just different than the people who live around DC. But they're eager to help. First time we were trying to trailer the boat they could see we didn't know what we were doing and they kind of pushed us aside and did it all for us. I tried to get their cel phone number so I could call them the next time I was trailering the boat.

And, while we're up here chatting off line, I just wanted to say thanks for the feedback that you gave me the other day. You're the faerie in Burns "Would some faerie the giftie gi'e us to see ourselves as others see us." Or, where I worked before I retired, they said "feedback is a gift."* Even when it doesn't come in pretty wrapping paper with bows on it.

*They said this because the people who gave feedback didn't really know how to do it, so they tried to brainwash us that getting peed on was a good thing.

You have my enduring admiration if you steer a power boat around. If I got behind the wheel of one of those things I'm fairly sure that I'd just power-dive it straight into the closest rock/river bank/cliff! I find myself 'marginally competent' in these areas and prefer to leave it to others because of that. A man's got to know his limitations, as Clint once said.
As for your 'feedback', although it was what I felt I was very disappointed with the 'wrapping paper and bows' I put around it, hence my asking Cindy to remove. Stuff like that should have been handled off-line and preferably over many beers. Are you coming to DC for the june meet-up?

The one thing that disappoints me about the blog these days is that there are so many 'cranky' posts out there that I think it makes us all a little shorter with each other than we should, and I'm becoming one of the worst for that. I have to do better.

It sounds like you've worked for some of the same companies as I did/do! But if you got out I'm glad to hear that there is potentially light at the end of the tunnel - I have waaay too many years to go to be able to believe other!
