The Return of the Dreaded Hammy Pull....

JReid reports:

Quarterback Jason Campbell has what the team described as a minor hamstring injury.

"He just felt it grab, it didn't pull all the way," Coach Jim Zorn said yesterday after the last of the team's three organized team activities at Redskins Park. "He was feeling his hamstrings all along, and I think it's because I have him" bending his knees more to stay at one level while dropping back.

Obviously, Zorn was not pleased that Campbell was injured, but "just the fact that different things are happening to his body ..... for me it's good," Zorn said. "He'll regroup. He's not a chronic hamstring-puller in my mind. He's going to be fine." ...

Running back Clinton Portis (minor hip injury) sat out practice. Zorn theorized that the injury could have occurred when Portis and safety LaRon Landry raced against each other Sunday.

To repost a second time:

To join this converstaion, I highly value social supports, especially when implemented properly. I also am someone who can live simply in so many ways, and therefore would not vary that much in my standard of living even if I was the financial equivalent of Snyder. When I lost my job because of my AS I lived for four months on no income; got unemployment at that time, which was threatened to be taken away, and a few months later finally got my SSDI. Understand that I had almost no savings when this happened also. For people like me who need these supports in order to make themselves "marketable," they are invaluable. They also help society. I mean if you have someone who is genuinely in a bad place financially but wants to get back into the workforce, keeping that person healthy will help to facilitate their re-entry. Keeping them with a roof over their head, so they can shower for an interview, enough decent clothes in their closet that are clean so they can dress to impress, etc. is extremely important for helping them get a job. However, when someone continuously abuses these supports by not contributing to society or their own improvement, no support should be given.

Also, for the most part I have to agree with Gus and Zebra. Brownwood, the main reason why I don't own a house is because the cost for one would be more than renting. You have to remember that with a house you have utilities and upkeep of the place which are not worries to the same degree when you rent. My sink breaks, my landlord comes and fixes it. My sink breaks in my house, I have to pay to get it repaired myself. I don't cut the lawn around my apt., shovel the driveway, worry about the day of trash pickup, worry about foreclosure, etc. I do agree with them in the other ways too; most people are so spoiled in their standard of living that they don't know what to do with themselves without some luxuries.

Getting back to allergies and AS though. I believe that a lot of the nation's increase in allergies and heart disease is actually related to the softening of our water supply. Studies have shown that people who live in hard water areas have a reduced risk of heart attack and stroke. One important, central, and necessary theme in cardiovascular disease is inflammation. The same type of disease process that happens in allergies and asthma. Tissue Mg deficiency can cause a host of different symptoms, including increased mast cell histamine release, and tissue potassium imbalances which are highly related to blood pressure and therefore heart disease. Mast cell degranulation is also critical for allergies as one component of mast cell granules is histamine. Notice all of you allergy sufferers - you take an antihistamine, which prevents allergy symptoms from occuring by preventing the actions of histamine. You might be able to do the same by taking a Mg supplement with a bit of calcium twice a day.

Also, I've read that four double blind placebo controlled studies have been done using vitamin B6 sometimes in combination with Mg for autism, and statistically and clinically significant improvements were seen in the kids.

Also, a genetic study was done to determine if there are any genes that are mutated to a significant rate in autistic people. One of the genes that they found to be mutated at a high rate was a protein implicated in natural killer cell (these destroy virally infected cells and tumor cells) and neuronal function, two extremely important parts of most of the symptoms/comorbities of ASD (immune and neural/cognitive). There is no way to tell if this gene is more highly mutatable due to thimersol or almost anything else at this point, but it does explain the presence of measles virus in autistic children's blood after vaccines.

On another note - they should have fired their security chief after ST's death for a variety of reasons, JMO though.

Just what we need another plague of bad hamstrings in our midst.

(1) How do you pull a hamstring while bending your knee to stay low? Wouldn't that lead to a quadriceps pull?

(2) If we're blaming Portis' running at top speed in a straight line in a race for his injury, does that mean that Portis was never supposed to run at top speed in game or practice?

I would be for having a HOF on the wiki. But who decides who gets in the HOF?

It's a wiki. Anyone and everyone decide. You want someone in the HOF? You put them in. You don't like someone who's in the HOF? You take them out.

One thing i want to see Zorn do, is focus on hamstrings. We were plagued by it last season. Things to look into are making sure athletes are properly hydrated and that the staff is doing thing to help as well when it comes to doing the proper stretching.

Posted by: Leacher | May 7, 2008 3:34 PM

Karen, I read exactly 3 words of your post. Who in the hell would read all of that?
And didn't they hire some trainer to focus on just hamstrings this year???

Posted by: What? | May 7, 2008 3:35 PM

not worried about campbell. he will be fine. what worries me is zorn requiring him to bend so much. he's a tall qb and we should use that to his advantage... now its potentially taking aphysical toll on him. if he's pulling hammys now, whats going to happen in the regular season?

Posted by: talkshowhost | May 7, 2008 3:35 PM

Let the doom and gloom pour over this whole blog now. here it comes. And shut up Karen. Group Therapy is the blog two doors down.

Posted by: | May 7, 2008 3:36 PM

When Cindy wrote in the previous post that "we weren't going to like it" I was convinced it was something to do with Bonus Points. Sore hammies in May, is not much compared to the Bonus Points fiasco that I'm currently embroiled in.

What do you mean? You aren't getting paid in cash? You need to talk to your agent! My agent just got me a great new contract.

I'd been in a contract dispute with Redskins Insider, and my agent advised me to sit out the OBAs (off season blogging activities). I wanted to demand a trade to the Marc Fisher blog but my agent said that was stupid since they would just let me walk.

So my agent negotiated a new contract with Redskins Insider which makes me one of the five best paid at my position, humorless prik. I was actually hoping to play more of a "skill position" like dcsween or nateinthePDX, but someone else convinced me I was a natural as a humo[u]rless prik.

Getting paid in the top five is quite an accomplishment because, as you know, competition is fierce at this position and it's hard to stand out as a prik, humorless or otherwise. Everyone thinks it's an easy position to play, but you have to practice every day to play it well.

These things happen early in the offseason training. There bodies have been mostly rested. Portis going full speed is because he hasn't in months. Even if you are training, if you go full speed from zero and haven't been preparing for a while, that can happen. I think Jason will definately be fine. The will stretch them out. Not much to worry. If it were later in the training camp, then I would be more concerned.

I pulled my hamstring drinking shots last night. I should have drafted a drinking coach. Instead I went for "blonde floozy" with my 1st round pick and traded the rest of my draft for Ricky Williams.

Posted by: P Diddy | May 7, 2008 3:58 PM

I don't know. Drafting a blonde floozy and Ricky Williams could make for a fun night. Is this football Ricky or Off-season Ricky? Wait...nevermind...same thing either way.

As a chronic hamstring puller myself, I can tell you this - JC is no chronic hamstring puller. It takes special skills to chronically pull that string of ham, and JC has not developed that talent yet.

That said, can we actually get a strength and conditioning coach who actually strengthens and conditions these guys' bodies. I mean enough is enough already.

No offense to the hard workin JC, but feeling a hammy "grab," which means you just pulled your hammy, happens all the time.

To people who don't work out!

Sounds like JC may have gotten a little complacent in the off season?

SECURITY FIRING

I don't know the details of this firing, but to any future employer, it looks EXACTLY like he was fired over the Fred davis incident, even tho the redskins "deny it."

They HAVE to deny that sort of stuff, or risk a lawsuit methinks, and everyone knows that. But by firing him when they did, they potentially hurt his future employability at no legal risk to themselves.

Classy. Kinda like how they handled the GG non-hiring.

It's a (sorta) free country, and they are certainly within their rights to do what they did. But pretty soon Karma bites you in the Booty, and eventually all Snyder's money wont' be able to attract the people he wants.

Or were the lack of free agent signings, and losses of FAs just a coincidence? Sure it appears to be because of new found fiscal responsibility but some of these people took LESS money to leave, and no one took less money to come to DC.

Posted by: Corkczar | May 7, 2008 4:15 PM

TV sports types who backed long shots include CBS' Jim Nantz, who gave $2,300 to Fred Thompson's short-lived campaign. Rudy Giuliani's donors included CBS' Dan Dierdorf ($1,000) and Boomer Esiason ($2,300). Fox's Troy Aikman backed John McCain with $2,300. According to the DCExaminer (wonder who their sources are?), the Offensive coaches and defensive coaches have not been really "tight" the last few seasons. Gibbs was the man in charge and wanted his way and Williams wanted to be in charge and wanted his way. This is why Williams was not hired. In fact, the Examiner stated that Gibbs wanted the Skins to hire Blache as HC.

Since Zorn's arrival, everyone seems to be getting along.

Posted by: Seal | May 7, 2008 6:32 PM

New signing yet to be announced...

The Redskins signed Univ of MD and former teammate of Stephon Heyer and Sam Hollenbach, Andrew Crummey. Crummey, an offensive guard with the ability to play center, was a Third Team All-American this year who has twice broken his leg since October. Prior to the injury, Mel Kiper and Todd McShay rated Crummey as a likely 3rd round selection, but among the top 5 offensive guards to be drafted. The injury probably was not properly diagnosed as Crummey came back perhaps earlier than he should have to finish his senior season. In the East-West Shrine game, the break occurred for a second time...this time causing surgery. He was still invited to the combine, yet Crummey went undrafted. Crummey should be cleared to play full-go by training camp. Look for him to be groomed as a guard/center prospect of the future.

From the policy side I was all for it, as it helps us figure out who may have influence over what politician. As corporations are no longer allowed to donate directly often they recommend to their staff to donate. And it would have some influence over said elected official a year later when that companies lobbyist wants to meet with the official on a bill that will allow them to say drill in the bay for oil.

On the flip side I do not think that it is fair that campaigns have to report everything themselves, if we want to track this stuff the government should do the accounting themselves.

As someone who worked for a third party campaign that was trying to make a serious run, it is virtually impossible to do accurate reporting unless you have a full time accountant with some experience in this kind of financial stuff. If your campaign is smaller, like ours was, you end up having to make me your accountant, and in film school they don't teach you how to do a campaign finance report.

Sorry I killed the blog with political talk. Back to Fubbal, how about the Skins try and use a 3-4 set? What with our crappy DL, it makes sense to have less of em on the field.

Posted by: Alex35332 | May 7, 2008 8:41 PM

I wonder if any rich folks are donating publicly to McCain, knowing it's all out there and somebody might check up, but secretly planning to vote for Obama. One can hope.

Stupid off-topic post Hall of Fame candidate.

Posted by: SMACK | May 7, 2008 8:42 PM

Alex35332- I don't think so, our LB depth is even worse than the DL.

Posted by: kost52 | May 7, 2008 8:46 PM

SMACK, what do you think of Flamini leaving?

Posted by: kost52 | May 7, 2008 8:52 PM

The 3-4 should be banned from the NFC East. Not only do I think it sucks, but it places too much emphasis on NT. You need three good ones to account for fatigue and injury, but only one gets on the field at a time. That's crazy money for a poor return on minutes per game.

Posted by: SMACK | May 7, 2008 8:52 PM

I hate it kost. Flamini was the one guy who continued to give a F. Man does he work. Now Hleb is going too more than likely, and Silva won't be there to abuse. Lehmann is going, Cesc is always iffy. Get ready because we could be back in the UEFA Cup before you know it, and losing to Galatasaray again. Starting to think the person who needs to go is Wenger. How do you let a guy like Flamini's contract just go and get nothing. Why can we not get massive foreign investment with the Arsenal brand name? Arsenal can't afford to buy again this summer? Give me a fn break!

Posted by: SMACK | May 7, 2008 8:57 PM

I hope "fans" give Zorn a chance. The truth is no one knows what's going to happen this year, but PLEASE give the man a chance! I was listening to Riggo today and he was questioning Zorn's discipline of Fred Davis. He even suggested that the Redskins trade Davis to send a message. Vinny came on and responded by saying, "well if that's the case, we should have traded Sean Taylor."

I thought that was a great comeback and also true. Let's let the team play a couple of games. I know Skins news is slow and a hangnail is front page news, but I hope the FO and the fans give this new staff a chance.

Smack,
I don't mind the use of a 3-4 4-3 and 46 by the same D. I think if you get a balance of the three it can be dangerous/confusing for opponents.

Posted by: Alex35332 | May 7, 2008 9:02 PM

I hope we don't lose Cesc.

It can't entirely be Wenger's fault though can it? He's not the one who has put the wages cap in place is he?

Posted by: kost52 | May 7, 2008 9:10 PM

Difficult to argue with that Alex, if you can afford 12-15 highly intelligent, disciplined, and athletically versatile defenders. Situational substitutions happen everywhere, but you roster plan for strength in either the 4-3 or the 3-4. Most dermatologists can't perform open heart surgery on the side.

Posted by: SMACK | May 7, 2008 9:12 PM

No kost, we're handcuffed for lots of reasons, but we'll never win anything under Wenger again, unless we throw it all at the FA Cup or something. The guy is too light in the loafers for the Prem.

Posted by: SMACK | May 7, 2008 9:15 PM

Love me some Riggo, but I sure wouldn't want him coachin anybody up, or running my FO.

LMAO,

Blog Fred Davis is my new favorite impersonation. Reminds me of Blog Dan Snyder from last year.

So it will probably get old soon, unless you can come up with some new material. But the good news is that I think this Davis kid will supply.

or the bad news...heres hoping davis doesn't write his own material....

The just don't want more OTAs.

Posted by: mul | May 7, 2008 10:12 PM

Posted by: kost52 | May 7, 2008 10:12 PM

CL,
I did not mean in a Pacman Jones way, detrimental to the team. But more a three stooges/Gillagan way, just constantly screwing up in some minor way that could be fun.

Posted by: Alex35332 | May 7, 2008 10:14 PM

The wing tips were killing me, so I traded them for some sneakers and a pint of Wachusetts (ah!).

I'd like to avoid driving altogether, but that's altogether impossible and such as.

Give me those super-smart, big, fast strong players, oh and with that LFM too, gotta have that LFM.

Posted by: Stumped | May 7, 2008 10:16 PM

Fred,
Make sure you rent purple cars, nothing stands out and says come SJK with me like purple. In fact, Hertz hooked me up with purple this time. The cops up here LOVE it, and the warm and fuzzy people in this clime keep welcoming me with that gesture SMACK makes reference to.

Great feeling all around with a purple car (the thing doesn't even have automatic door locks) and the cup holders are clearly inadequate.

Posted by: Stumped | May 7, 2008 10:21 PM

Al Zeke,

Someone created the HOF on the wiki for ya. I checked it out and threw 4th up there for you.

Posted by: Alex35332 | May 7, 2008 10:24 PM

Fred, don't listen to Stumped, get a black car. If you're anything like me, you'll get the purple car confused with the blue one a few aisles over.

Man, the hate on the Dan Blaz blog is huge. I thought this one could get nasty but jeeze. We'll still fight about anything though. (i.e. what to pray for Reed Doughty's son)

Was starting to get pretty excited about the offense until I read the article on Sherman Smith. Now, I'm back to wait and see. The one thing the offense doesn't lack is talent.

But, first time head coach with first time offense of co-ordinator with the make-it-up-as-we-have-time-playbook isn't the typical recipe for success. Has Sherm ever even been in the booth? How is he suppose to help 'Z-man' adjust to the defense and call the right pass plays? Doubts. The offense better move fast because as soon as defenses catch up, we may be in trouble.

Hard to believe that both CL and Nate are against the idea of the RI HOF.

These two guys are first ballot inductees, by far.

Wow, just wow.

Posted by: Chia Pet | May 8, 2008 1:17 AM

I hear what Nate is saying. Even with registration, this seems to divide the community here on RI.

Posted by: Curzon417 | May 8, 2008 1:20 AM

Now that OTAs are over, the next big date to look forward to is 6/1. See which high paid DE or LB get cut from their teams.

I guess SS is another position to look at. Maybe we can find some good deals for depth in case of injuries.

Posted by: Curzon417 | May 8, 2008 1:24 AM

You think, curzon?

Seems to me like the divisiveness will exist either way.

I like that guy Nate, though; good dude right there. CL is just a freak, but I love him too.

Posted by: Chia Pet | May 8, 2008 1:27 AM

No question, the divisiveness is here to stay. My guess is that Nate is a middle child. Pacifier by nature. Great guy.

Can't believe I agree with cL as much as I do. To me, what does it matter? Just voice your opinion and enjoy life!

Posted by: Curzon417 | May 8, 2008 1:31 AM

I concur.

DE is still a position of need. I'd be surprised to not see some activity on that front.

That kid Horton we drafted in 7 will be interesting to watch develop. The rap is that he's slow, but he seems to have had good game in the PAC10.

Posted by: Chia Pet | May 8, 2008 1:31 AM

Chia,
I am not the smartest guy out there, but, is there a big difference between a 4.4 40 and a 4.8 40?

I would say how fast are you on the field and is the guy a player.

For a SS, I think Horton will be awesome!

Posted by: chris LaRRy | May 8, 2008 1:45 AM

Curzon417, I know what you mean, I would've thought the more important time would be the 10yd. How many times a game does a player run 40 yards full speed in a straight line?

If you're Adam Archuleta, quite often apparently!

Posted by: kost52 | May 8, 2008 1:52 AM

Dam,n cL, you do appear at the darndest times! No insult intended comparing my outlook to yours,...main difference is you use less words

Rookie pool numbers are unofficially out. The Redskins get $4,543,890 to sign their 10 draft picks. Available cap room will decline to approximately $2.5 million until June 1, when it will increase again due to the split amortization of BLloyd's cap hit.

Posted by: Bug . . . | May 8, 2008 2:03 AM

Nice! How does Tecate compare to other Mexican brews?

Posted by: kost52 | May 8, 2008 2:04 AM

Not bad. Mild mexican lager, but generally I chase with dos equis amber. Nice and smooth and much better in the bottle (don't drink can beers). But you have to have lime and salt.

Posted by: Curzon417 | May 8, 2008 2:10 AM

Bug,

Do you know what the cap # will be post June 1?

Posted by: Curzon417 | May 8, 2008 2:11 AM

Dear Diary

This has been a bad day. First I bought an alarm clock, but I couldn't set it. Then it said the time was 23:15 hours witch is stupid, because I KNOW there are only 22 hours jn a day.

Then I lost my car keys and couldn't remember what color my car is or if it is a Buick or a Ford. Then I forgot where my room is and dropped my keys and pulled a Hammy.

Also, I can't find my luggage which may be in the room I moved to when I missed practice Sunday or maybe in my original room. Also, I was reading the Washington Post on my cpmputer and now I'm stuck on some blog or something and they are selling t-shirts that make fun of me.

Hey wait a minute! I took a taxi here. I think next time I'll take a plane. Okay, diarym, now I'm going to look for my keys some more and try to find my roomie.

Your Truely,

Fred Davis

Posted by: Fred Davis | May 8, 2008 2:12 AM

Grolsch are great, they come in a fantastic swing top bottle which you'd never throw out. I've had my 2Lt bottle for about 3 years now, use it for chilled water.

Definitely enjoy it over a Heinie, much hoppier and a stronger body. Nice beer.

Posted by: kost52 | May 8, 2008 2:35 AM

I was reading that Tecate was the first beer to drink with a lime. How do you do that with a can??

Posted by: kost52 | May 8, 2008 2:37 AM

Gotta love the swing-top bottle. Grolsch is a good beer but an even better bottle.

Kost, on the golf course, drinking from the can, I use lime salt. Otherwise I drink from the bottle.

I will be getting me some Grolsch to try very soon. Mostly drink mexican beer when I am doing some tequila shots, which seems to be quite often these days since the kids moved out on their own.

Posted by: bangkokben | May 7, 2008 11:48 PM

Yeah, but we've tried all the other recipes on this team and they've all produced something as unpalatable as rhubarb pie.

The last recipe was HOF Head Coach plus the OC with the best record in the league. We thought it was the recipe for success but it was the recipe for ex-lax.

Posted by: talent evaluator | May 8, 2008 6:14 AM

I about to start throwing flags all over the place...

Flag on the HOF, I agree with Nate Dog that you get more exclusionary in this sense. The wiki was created to help other get 'sped up' to our level of blogginess.

Flag on HAMMY's! We need new training staff.

Flag on CP, either he wants out of working out, like last year, which pisses me off - or he truly hurt himslef running in a straight line, which tells me his offseason workout program obv didnt include stretching!

And Flag on myself for going here one last time, and it will be short.

And 4th, not to bring it up unannounced but the only time my wife checked out the blog was when your story was posted last year. It moved her, and it saddened her, and she was even more dedicated to staying home.

You and only you should be in any HOF if there is one. We still pray for your family.

Posted by: Zebra | May 8, 2008 6:45 AM

Damn! I hope we don't have to deal with these pulls this year.

TE, i think you're right... we have tried all other avenues.

THis is the first in the meague first time coach. We tried the college stud, the ol HOF coach and the task master. Other than stealing bellicheat this is the last avenue.

Posted by: Zebra | May 8, 2008 8:50 AM

Posted by: jperkmd82 | May 7, 2008 6:33 PM

I thought Crummey signed with the Chargers.

chRIs L, espn sez:

"the rookie pool was created to somehow slot the signings of draft choices by the position they were selected. Each selection in the draft is given a value, which is a predetermined cap number. All rookies, including undrafted rookies, have to fit within the assigned rookie pool."

The Cheeves had 12 picks, including the #5 and #15 overall.

Chargers | Contract details: Crummey
Tue, 29 Apr 2008 00:48:36 -0700

Josh Buchanan, of NFLDraftBible.com, reports the San Diego Chargers signed OL Andrew Crummey to a two-year deal with a $7,500 signing bonus.

This is the last I've heard about Crummey.

Posted by: skinfanman | May 8, 2008 9:56 AM

Was it the fact that CL and I agreed on Crummey, that broke the blog.....

Posted by: Greg | May 8, 2008 9:57 AM

Speaking of the 200,000 where are we now? we had that bump from the draft

Posted by: Alex35332 | May 8, 2008 10:02 AM

So did the Redskins sign Crummey or not?

Posted by: Greg | May 8, 2008 10:24 AM

I think another player who will benefit from the WCO is Betts. Two back sets are more common etc.

I think sellers will be left out a little, although Seattle's O had a good one for years.

I still dont get how they keep saying the Running game will not change. It has to just based on the personnel formations. If we go jumbo and run it, and only throw it with 3 or 4 wr's we will be seriously telegraphing our offense.

Good lord! Is there any discussion relevant to this blog going on in here? And why is Karen rambling about her misfortunes only to devote one pseudo-sentence to the topic of pulled hammies?

Come on, people... I can understand some off-topic conversation if it comes out of the issue at hand, but this is just absurd. If you're in such urgent need of discussing other things, I would suggest finding a message board to support your habits. Not here. It's just distracting.

Mine are:

Fred Smoot
Clinton Portis
Mike Sellars
Randy Thomas

So I have to believe there will be more zone blocking for slant runs which help CP. Cut back lanes should be HUGE if our O line plays it right. Sadly Portis always trips over his feet after he makes his cut at the second level. His only explosive runs last year were off tackle when the d was running the wrong way and out of position. Slant runs should make Portis not have to cut in the secondary, just straight speed past the defender (which apparently causes his hip to hurt).

My fear about the Running game staying the same is that this is a result of keeping Buges. And I wonder how much input snyder had on keeping buges. Has Buges ever coached a WC run game?

I am sure we discussed it way back when, but it escapes me now.

I love it when people complain about others discussing topics not related to the Redskins. I mean, I don't know about the rest of you guys and gals, but I think that double standards are a blast.

Random skins incident:
One of my brothers was taking the fam to Sweetwater Tavern last weekend, and apparently none other than Mr. Chris Samuels was generous enough to point out an open parking spot to my brother. What a nice gentleman he sounds like

Apparently, the description of the Oline in WCO and ours dont mesh. Also our Running Game. Probably why Zorn will try a hybrid approach.

I still worry about the predictability however.

The reason for the rambling before was simple, I had an exam in the early morning and had to tutor most of the rest of the day until I could post. Once I had the time, I had a lot to say about a lot of different things. That's all.

My imagenation of the conversation between Bugs and Zorn on the O Line

Z: You think you can coach a west coast line?
B: Depends? We still keep guys from hitting the QB?
Z: yep.
B: Still pushing guys around every chance we get?
Z: yep.
B: Do I have to wear a dress when coaching?
Z:.... No.
B: Should be no problems then.

+++Redskins | Team's rookie pool money announced
Wed, 7 May 2008 22:16:17 -0700

John Clayton, of ESPN.com, reports the Washington Redskins have been given $4,543,890 to sign their 10 draft picks from the 2008 NFL Draft.
Posted by: skinfanman | May 8, 2008 8:53 AM++++

Now all they have to do is get three 2nd round picks who feel they deserve first round money to sign on time. Why do they feel they deserve first round money? Ogh, I don't know, maybe because their coach and Vinny repeatedly bragged that they were first round values.

On the other hand, Fred "Alarm Clock" Davis has hurt his negotiating status, and a skilled negotiator can approach Thomas and Kelly like Sipowiczc working two skells for the same bust. Play them against each other, saying first one to flip has the best shot at starting.

Tsk, tsk. There you go starting a fight. Danny may suck, but Mr. Snyder's the bomb, dude. If it weren't for him, Bermuda Boy -- the misbegotten Casper Milquetoast son of Mr. Cook's -- would own the team, Norv Turner would still be coaching, we'd be about $30 million under the salary cap, all players would be getting the vet. minimum, and the team would still be playing in Raljon, Maryland.

But a point If all the players were getting the Vet Minimum, it counts 450K against the cap per player. Making the team salary around 25 Mill. with the current salary cap set at close too 120 mill that would give us around 95 million dollars in cap space.

Even a joke need researching.

Diddy,

Not sure whether they're open on Saturday or only Sunday but you might look into Georgia Brown's or Cafe Atlantico.

Lafayette Room in the Hay-Adams hotel is good -- a bit formal and not too flashy. You might see some celebrities (including yourself, of course). Also, the rooftop of the Washington Hotel is a nice, outdoor venue, overlooking the White House but not sure how good the food is. Kennedy Center has a rooftop, outside restaurant.

Posted by: talent evaluator | May 8, 2008 11:30 AM

Diddy, I'm not certain what "post points" are but, I'm quite certain, that if you pull into a gas station, minus pants, and plan on paying for the gas with "bonus points" that you won by answering the Jim Lachey trade question, they are NOT the same as cash. And you will most likely not be allowed back at the gas station.

A little football sprinkle:

Fullback Mike Sellers considers the atmosphere more relaxed under Zorn than it was with former coach Joe Gibbs.

"We don't have people watching us constantly and telling us what to do like we're little kids," Sellers said. "He puts it on ourselves. We're being treated like men."

----------

I am probably wrong on this, but it seems to me that many of the players are happy with the coaching change. The tone seems to be a big sigh that Gibbs is gone.

I agree with ANON about this and Karen

Posted by: Beas | May 8, 2008 12:02 PM

Curzon, I agree. I think the players really like Zorn because he has high expectations, is a good teacher and yet treats them like adults. Like with the Davis thing. The kid was absolutely mortified, so Zorn knew doing anything more would only cause bad feelings and not get any extra message across, so he didn't officially discipline him.

Posted by: Karen | May 8, 2008 12:02 PM

Not to get this discussion going again, but you can not say all kids who's parents work turn out bad. There are many stay home Moms that do not give there kids enough attention either. The article list things parents do to make things up to there kids, for time lost. Even if you work you still have enough time to spend with your kids. It is not quantity it is quality. If a parent is to weak to disipline there children, or they are trying to buy love from there child then they are idiots. I saw my dad for 4 hours a night during the week and believe me he had no problem saying no, and no problem in dealing out discipline. The problem with kids today is not parents working, it is this wimpy society we live in were no one wants to hurt anyones feelings. Every girls in my daughters Softball league gets a participation trophy, because god for bid we leave any kids out. This is why kids are more whiny today, and do not know how to handle failure or discipline.

Hay-Adams and Georgia Brown are great, too. I like the atmosphere at the Tabard; it has a nice little courtyard. And, of course, donuts!!!!

Did I read the Title wrong or something?

Posted by: | May 8, 2008 12:05 PM

The other issue Zebra is that parents don't know how to administer discipline with love and more importantly consistency. Add onto that the fact that most non-parent authority figures in kid's lives are legally strapped as to what they can do and typically overwhelmed, and you have a situation where nobody is capable of administering sound discipline.

"I feel bad for ur kids if any of you have them. They are all going to be the dorks in school that have no friends and get picked on."

Yes, cause teaching your kid that peeps are 'dorks' is going to somehow magically make them the coolest kids in the room.

You cant be above the age of 18, b/c if you are you still have the mentality of a highschool kid.

Maybe when you grow up, you will realize that there are more important things in life than whos a dork or not, and how many friends they had.

All of my friends from highschool are no longer friends. surprisingly we all met someone and went our separate ways. But if you wish to move on through your whole life tied to your highschool friends, have fun. When people get older you find out who they really are. I suppose you prolly wont be any different than you are now.
