I followed the java link and find update 9. Even Security fix can't keep up.

I find the Java updates challenging at times. Not the update itself, but getting the "current" JRE via the built in update functionality. For instance, I updated some of my systems to update 8, but more recently it told me update 6 was the most "current", which is in fact consistent with Sun's Java.com info (see http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp) on 9/29/2006. At the same time, Sun's Developer Network site (see http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp)
has update 9 as the "latest release" JRE. Sure would be nice to have more consistency.
OBTW, my RealPlayer shows v. 10.5, build 6.0.12.1698, rather than the ...1465 your link shows -- time to update?

And here's question for the vendors - how many of the above applications automatically inform and download updates for the users.
(on a side note, a sanctuary from the bloat that some say adobe's pdf reader has become - http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php) . [its free, I'm not affiliated]
