Apple iTunes Update and Patch Tuesday Preview
Apple has released a new version of its iTunes software that includes an important security update for both Windows and Mac OS X systems. Meanwhile, Microsoft provided a preview of the security updates it will release next week to fix vulnerabilities in its Windows operating system and other software.
Windows users can grab the new iTunes update, version 7.4, from Apple's site or via the Apple Software Update that comes bundled with iTunes and QuickTime. Mac users can fetch update using Software Updates.
Microsoft says it expects to issue at least five bundles of security updates for Windows on Tuesday, including fixes for MSN Messenger and Windows Live Messenger, Microsoft Office, and Visual Studio .NET. As always, Security Fix will have more information on the patches shortly after they are released.

Would it kill Apple to provide some proper release notes with their iTunes updates? At the iTunes download page, there's nothing to say that an important security issue is covered in this update. C'mon Apple, it's not exactly rocket science to put a link to the security bulletin on the download page.

@t_joe: I don't think that's an unintentional miss. I think that's corporate policy. Unfortunately.

What do you expect from our Apple overlords? ;P
Speaking of overlords, Apple could learn a thing or two from Microsoft about publishing security bulletins. Not just publishing them period, but in two versions, one for home users and one for IT people!
Apple has a ways to go in becoming much more transparent. But, as Rick mentioned, that's against their corporate policy!

Well, it seems iTunes 7.4.1 is now out. I guess something was wrong with last week's 7.4

Apple has provided my computer with it's most annoying updater. I use Quicktime but not iTunes.....so the Quicktime updater is continually asking me to install/update iTunes.
