Quote of the Week Award Goes To...

This distinction goes to Mitt Romney spokesman Kevin Madden, who invoked the iconic '80s band Timbuk 3 when he recounted to us the surreal scene of the Romneys and the Clintons campaigning "together" this week.

Romney and his family wound up marching in the same parade as Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) and her husband, Bill, on the Fourth of July in Clear Lake, Iowa.

Madden told the Sleuth the couples chatted a bit and "agreed they would probably be seeing more of each other in the future" on the campaign trail.

"It was the past clashing with the future," Madden said. "And the future's so bright...I gotta wear shades."

Well, I have to admit I was surprised, since I thought Tony Snow would be the slam-dunk winner after his disasterous presentation at the gaggle.

In contrast to the winning comment, one that would be apropos to Snow's handling of Bush's decision to commute Libby's sentence would be: "The future's so dark we're gonna need 10,000 points of light just to reach the exits!"

Not very original. Madden just re-stole and updated a famous old political quote. Doesn't anyone remember Michael Dukakis? ...I hope the Post can do a better job in the future rewarding originality rather than duplication.

MITT'S STAFF: Don't turn around, uh oh...
MITT: Do they really want to hurt me?

That song is really about a nuclear holocaust, a fact completely lost on the Romney crowd, of course.

once again the clinton play the middle cant we all get along , while the republicans will lie and slander and slime their way to office. I would just once like to see someone on either side tell the truth and call the lies out as lies. the media just parrots what everyone says i wish someone would point out the real both sides like Jon Stewart does... where the hell are the peoples watch dogs , where are the edward morrows?

Mary's snide comment about the Republicans NOT ONLY OVERLOOKS THE NUMBER OF TIMES THE DEMS have called somebody a liar, as well as the foul language of Michael Moore and the money bag who trades currency and speaks in foreign tongues. But what the hey ... it's characteristic of the dems support group.

dear mary and kate

its primary season and you both know what that means...no left against right boxing matches now is the time to turn inward and smash and tear our own parties to shredds as a warm up to the no holds bared contest in 18 months, now touch gloves and come out fighting

cool I think Bill did the best job but then he always was a great speaker even when he says very little.

It's probably impossible for the WaPo to report on anything but THEIR chosen few, But I would love to see them give some positive press on the two best candidates we have running in either party, ie: Tom Tancredo and Duncan Hunter. They are the only ones with the morals, the character quality and most importantly the consistently good voting record to TRUST as candidates worth considering. Ignoring them shows an absolute deficiency in knowledge and judgment.

It's probably far too much to hope for that the WaPo would report equally and honestly on the only two candidates running for President that are worthy. They are Tom Tancredo and Duncan Hunter. They not only have good morals, and are straight from the cuff honest but most important of all - their voting record is excellent. Their votes are representative of "We the People" as they should be for any elected official. Where is the honesty in reporting or any knowledge and wisdom in seeing the best candidates?

Mitt Romney is a flip-flopper.
For gay marriage - in the 90s, gave money for abortions to Planned Parenthood - in the 90s...

He voted for it before he voted against it. Must be a Massachusetts thing?

Sherry...PUT DOWN THE KRUEL-AID and get a grip. How can you seriously propose voting for a luddite for the highest office in the land...Evolution is a fact, or do you think its some grand left wing conspiracy to brain wash your young and pervert them with SCIENCE?
