Rep. Filner: His Lips Are Sealed
Still total radio silence from Rep. Bob Filner (D-Calif.).
The chairman of the House Committee on Veteran's Affairs flew off to Iraq this week without commenting on the misdemeanor assault and battery charges filed against him after a dispute over his luggage with a United Airlines employee Sunday night at Washington Dulles International Airport.
His office on Wednesday gave us no clearer understanding of why Filner, chairman of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs, claimed the charges against him are "ridiculous" and the news reports of the incident are "factually incorrect."
"I don't have a full statement yet," Filner spokeswoman Amy Pond said.
She said Filner will issue a statement when he returns from Iraq. But she declined to say when that will be.
Filner, who turns 65 on Sept. 4, is scheduled to appear in Loudoun County General District Court on Oct. 2 for the charges stemming from his allegedly having physically rebuked a United Airlines employee near the baggage carousel.

This sounds like the gnags of New York strategy of class warfare thru fraudulant lies that has developed here in the socially dysfunctional state of Cali in the Clinton years. Nothing we hear of hearsay has any real credibility any more and those making the allegations are just as likely to be the real criminals. Lets hear a big hurrah! for neo liberal communism.

Whether Congressman Filner is a Democrat or Republican is irrelevant. The fact of the matter is, this man has dedicated his entire life to public service, and was visiting out troops in Iraq. The DC Airport Authority is making it a practice to beat up, harrass, arrest and place false charges on ordinary, non-criminal citizens. Its shameful that Congressman Filner can be arrested for bogus charges, girls can be beaten and have bogus charges against them (the girl who was beaten and given a concussion at Reagan National Airport), and even mothers and babies can be harassed and threatened with criminal prosecution (the sippy cup terrorist). There needs to be a major investigation into these illegal practices at the DC Area airports.

The abuse is being brought about by horrible airlines and their disgruntled employees. They are hiding their poor customer service record behind the skirts of enhanced security. If you confront their lies, silence and obfuscation their first response (trained I might add) is "would you like me to call security". Try saying yes and you will be intercepted by police that will arrest you for assault or threaten you with disturbing the peace all in the name of protecting the airline employee from their abysmal treatment of you the passenger. Try getting your money back if you are given the option not to board after a disagreement over your treatment.
I would like to say it is clear that law enforcement at airports is there for our safety not to cover the awful customer service by airlines. Airlines are the business customers for the airports that employ the police though and they most often defer to the employee of the airline. I would love to see the statistics for how many times police are called to the counters these days. It is clear to this reader that the airlines are allowing their employees to bully the public now with our own airport police.

This is just like when the police beat up a girl at Reagan National Airport in DC. They assaulted this girl and gave her a serious brain injury and made her entire body black and blue.
Then they arrested HER and charged her with a made up crime. You can be beat up by police and then have them charge you with a slew of imaginary crimes to cover up the beating, even if you are a law abiding citizen.
I seriously doubt Congressman Filner, who has devoted his entire career to public service and was going to visit our troops in Iraq, assaulted anyone. Fly through Washington DC airports at your own risk!

Charges against a democrat are "ridiculous" and "factually incorrect." Couldn't be true huh? Prosecutors are never motivated by political considerations. Just ask Alberto Gonzales. In fact, I daresay the only group more disinterested and unbiased are reporters. Right Mary Ann? I mean this has to be the most important story out there and there's no reason for you to actually try to find out what really happened at Dulles is there?

I read with interst all the comments about the airlines using their coverups for poor customer service. Since I am a disabled passenger , I have suffered many abuses from the airlines, namely United and Northwest Airlines. the last time I flew, they refused to accommodate me and when I was wheelchaired off the plane, I was left at the gate. I had to desperately use the restroom and I asked the ten northwest employees that were standing at the gate to please get me some help. I was told to wait. I waited at least 5 more minutes..until I thought I was going to mess all over myself, and called out: Please! I need to go to the restroom! then a Northwest flight attendant threatened me that if I didn't shut up,she would call security! unbelievable!

I wonder what Rep. Filner's explanation will be. Any public figures should be not involved in a case filed against him where he exhibited the inability to control himself. If he was annoyed at the airport, boo hoo. Many people have to deal with that stress everytime they go to the airport.
