Obama Camp Again Assails Clinton on Bosnia Trip

If Sinbad the comedian won't continue joking about his 1996 trip to Bosnia with Hillary Rodham Clinton, the Barack Obama campaign will.

Even though Sinbad has ended his tit-for-tat with Sen. Clinton (D-N.Y.) over their differing accounts of their joint trip to Bosnia in 1996, the Obama campaign isn't letting it go. Today, the Obama campaign sent an e-mail to reporters with the subject "Must See Video - Senator Clinton's trip to the Bosnia."

The e-mail provided a link to YouTube video of a March 25, 1996 CBS News report on Clinton's trip. The video shows then first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton and daughter Chelsea, who was a teenager at the time, touring a frontline U.S. forces outpost in Bosnia and chatting with the troops. The report included no references to gunfire.

In its email, the Obama campaign wrote, "If you watch this footage from a CBS report at the time, you'll notice that her description is very different from what actually happened."

And the Obama campaign reminded reporters how Clinton last week defended herself against -- of all people -- Sinbad, who has become the media's new favorite foreign policy expert after the Sleuth's original interview with him in which he said he doesn't recall dodging bullets or anything else so harrowing during the trip. (The only thing he worried about, he said, was wondering "Do we eat here or at the next place.")

Clinton insisted, "I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base."

The Obama campaign also points out that Clinton received "four Pinocchios" from the Post's "Factchecker" blog, which said, "Clinton's tale of landing at Tuzla airport 'under sniper fire' and then running for cover is simply not credible. Photographs and video of the arrival ceremony, combined with contemporaneous news reports, tell a very different story."

Earlier today, Clinton campaign spokesman Howard Wolfson reportedly said "it is possible" that Sen. Clinton "misspoke" when she described landing under sniper fire in Bosnia.

As they sought to qualify the New York senator's statements, the Clinton campaign also fired back today at Obama by belittling his foreign policy experience.

Campaign spokesman Jay Carson told the Sleuth: "Senator Clinton was landing in a war zone and instead of questioning Sen. Clinton's work during her time in the White House, the Obama campaign should explain their candidate's record given that he says his best foreign policy experience is the fact that he lived in Indonesia as a child."

In the next few days, reporters should question Ms. Clinton directly on this matter. This is an important misrepresentation relevant to her leadership qualities.

Posted by: Anon | March 24, 2008 04:21 PM

Liar, liar, pantsuit on fire. Do your job MSM, question her on this. This is a major lie and a part of her so called "experience" notion. What it is, is complete BS.

I am very concerned in not only the lie she told about her trip to Bosnia, but also her refusal to release her tax records, other papers from her time at the White House, etc.

In the 90's it wasn't Peace and Prosperity - it was humiliation for the whole country with our nightly news full of Clinton scandals: Whitewater, Rose Law Firm, impeachment of the president, etc.

Obama will win the Democratic nomination. He will win the presidency too.

We should judge a person by their deeds and actions and not their words.
The fact that Obama choose Mr. Wright as his spiritual teacher for 20 years and included Mr. Wright in his election staff speaks well for Mr. Obama's thinking and actions. Words are easy to manipulate and it is UNLIKELY that Obama's recent speech was written by Mr. Obama anyway. Mr. Obama has a powerful and power hungry staff that will do or say anything to get him elected to power. And for those who haven't done their homework regarding the cruelty of Mr. Obama's wife to the poor and working class, I suggest you do.

But clearly this man Mr. Obama is not to be trusted with the future of our great country. And regardless that he is 'fashionably black' and that many of you have some desire to prove to yourself or to others that you are not prejudice and that you like 'black people' with an attitude of 'See, I like black people, I'm voting for a black person,' such an attitude of voting for a person because of their race is the definition of prejudice.

If Mr. Obama had a lighter skin tone, there is no way he would be tolerated in as much he is aligned with a violent religious group, and never says anything substantial. And not only that, consider today's announcement that the chief of the firm involved in the State Department's passport breach is Obama adviser. And that Obama has been caught lying about Rezko, regarding the amount of money Rezko gave him, and that Obama still hasn't come clean about his Rezko land deal.
Just look at the kind of people Mr. Obama associates with. If Obama were to become president, what would stop Mr. Obama from appointing Mr. Wright to his cabinet? And to be sure, if anyone complained about Mr. Wright's appointment, no doubt they would be called racist, as this card is played daily by Mr. Obama and his clever unscrupulous staff.

Mr. Obama is partly running on 'a premise of guilt' that if you don't vote for him, it is because you don't like his race. This premise is manipulative premise and certain to have disastrous consequences for America and the world, for we should have as our country's leader someone with wisdom and knowledge regardless of race, not someone hungry for power for the sake of power.

Out of all the 300 million people in America, is this really who you want for president?

On my way to KFC, I had to duck the turkeys and the fries. I ran for cover! No, its true, I mean its a fact, I have experienced dead turkeys flying out of the deep fryers.

We love you madam Clinton, you are a wonderful SENATOR, STAY THAT WAY AND CONTINUE TO NAME PUBLIC BUILDINGS AFTER OUR SAINTS.
YOU DO A TERRIFIC JOB AT THAT!

Posted by: Joyceb4014 | March 24, 2008 04:58 PM

I live in Indiana and will happily vote for Barack Obama.

We've been through the Clinton's in the White House before. It was awful - one scandal after the next. Every week a supeaona - and of course they were so busy with that - Al Queda had the time for 9/11. No more Clintons in the white house.

Posted by: Richard Mcintosh | March 24, 2008 04:58 PM

Here's a correction for that last paragraph:

Campaign spokesman Jay Carson told the Sleuth: "There are lots of other distractions out there to focus on right now. Please don't look into this. We're trying to change the narrative before our campaign gets sunk by a minor lie that we inexplicably refuse to simply write off as a faulty recollection. Once again, please look the other way. How about these shiny keys? Sure are interesting, aren't they?"

Posted by: Tim B | March 24, 2008 04:59 PM

She lied. She's repeated made these same claims and only now is someone looking into it?

Posted by: Shannon2008 | March 24, 2008 05:00 PM

Can anyone advise what the difference is between someone who "misspoke" and someone who lied?

Posted by: Tupac Goldstein | March 24, 2008 05:01 PM

Posted by: Shannon2008 | March 24, 2008 05:01 PM

Hopefully, reporters will scrutinize and question Hillary more on acclaimed foreign policy experiences from this Bosnia trip to the Northern Ireland trip.

Posted by: AJ | March 24, 2008 05:03 PM

Lie: Telling different tales out of the two corners of your mouth and being stupid enough to think people will not get wise to yourr lies.
Misspoke: Diplomatic word for being economical with the truth.

Posted by: Joyceb4014 | March 24, 2008 05:07 PM

Using President Clinton's lines, Senator Clinton's claim of foreign policy experience is at best "Tales by moonlight"... fairy tales

Posted by: Joyceb4014 | March 24, 2008 05:11 PM

OK, she really embellished this one, but at least she did go to a war zone, even if it was a secure base. She traveled to over 70 other countries as well. Beats this:

"Probably the strongest experience I have in foreign relations is the fact I spent four years overseas when I was a child in Southeast Asia" - Barack Obama

Posted by: Typical White Veteran | March 24, 2008 05:13 PM

She also lied about NAFTA

Posted by: Shadow | March 24, 2008 05:18 PM

At least Barack was telling the truth, he has actually lived in a foriegn country, have many classmates in Indonesia that still remembers him.
He did not "misspoke" or economize the truth.
Pnder this however for Madam Clinton's experience:
Bosnia/Kosovo was a fairy tale, Nothern Ireland was a fairy tale, Asking Bubba to interven in the Rwanda genocide a fairy tale,Bankruptcy law vote, a fairy tale,NAFTA was a "Misspoke" too!

Posted by: | March 24, 2008 05:24 PM

I guess I'm wondering why she would deliberately lie about something like this which can be easily checked? Plus who would really care about some dramatic story like this anyway? It seems dumb and she is not dumb. I am wondering if it was a different international trip that she confused with this one. Even if so, she should know by now that she has to be really accurate about what she says because Obama's campaign is rabidly looking for anything to detract from Rev Wright. Thank god Hillary didn't attack him on that and just let the video speak for itself. At least she's looking like the one on higher ground in terms of negative campaigning.

Americans are so naive that they can be taken for a spin. If not they would have seen through Clinton.. She is just a hoax.

Every old man can claim more experienced as a child. So why not invite some grey haired old fox to head some of the worlds biggest financial corporations? Experience is no substitute for ability. You might have climbed Mt Everest when you were 25, that does not mean you can do it today. That is just an old woman chewing the cud.

This is the best chance we have to elect some one of the league of Abraham Lincoln or Kennedy and that too at the most trying times.. I strongly deplore clinton and her tactics of exagerating her achievements and to make others look small

Posted by: wow | March 24, 2008 05:28 PM

THIS IS NOT A "MISPOKE", OR A MEMORY LAPSE, NOT EVEN A SIMPLE LITTLE LIE.

You do not recount such a life threatining adventure. together with your daughter
(AND "FORGET" IT DID NEVER HAPPEN), you do not joke that the President sent you plus daughter to a place toO dangerous for
himself, especially when he really already visited it, BY ANY OTHER REASON AS TO INTENTIONALLY MISLEAD THE VOTERS WITH SUCH INVENTED HAPPENING.

The same, YOU DO NOT STATE "I WAS ALWAYS AGAINST NAFTA."FORGETTING" that you assisted to SEVERAL MEETINGS PROMOTING IT, where the assistants state that you never hinted any opposition,

Such and many other, is simply a proof that all the HILLARY's experience, which has no confirmation except her misfired Heath Care action, is simply ANOTHER INVENTION, based on nothing more as being a First Lady

BUT EVEN MORE GRAVE IS HER CHUTZPAH TO BASE HER CAMPAIGN ON SUCH PSEUDO EXPERIENCE, STATE THAT SHE HAS PAST THE PROOF FOR COMMANDER IN CHIEF AND ACCUSING OBAMA HE HAS NONE OF THESE !!

IS THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY UNAWARE OF WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO HER IF SHE GETS NOMINATED AFTER HER DESTRUCTIVE CAMPAIGN, CONFRONTED WITH SOMEBODY WITH REAL EXPERIENCE AS JOHN McCAIN ??

By the way: a few days more of such campaign and also OBAMA WILL BE DAMAGED BY HILLARY WITHOUR REPAIR (if it is not already too late!)

This is serious and bad for the society, we cannot have another president that believes its okay to lie. The Clintons are just pathetic liars. If I lie on my resume I will be fired at my job, why is she treated differently.

of all the fascist (corporate sponsored) drones in this 2008 race to end whatever fascimile of democracy (actaully its a republic - but who cares anymore, right?) is left, Senator Clinton has got be to be THE most transparently flawed politician ever - OR - a devious shill to swing the election for Senator McCain. Personally, I hope its the latter. If she were actually trying to WIN, I would hope that she could be more astute at managing a campaign. Pathetic!

The pot calling the kettle black. If Sen. Clinton has some faults, so is Sen Obama.

The connection of Obama to Rezco smacks of corruption. We were not born yesterday, and to tell us that Rezco is just a campaign donor will not wash.

I wish Rezco is given a deal to implicate those that are involved in his sleazy deals so we once and for all find out the truth.

I would love to see some powerful people indicted.

Nobody but Sinbad has bothered to question Hillary's foreign policy credentials . Find an article on or interview with her
chief FP adviser Andrew Shapiro .You will find Bupkis. Considering all the heat placed on Obama FP advisers from Samantha Powers to Rob Malley a little reciprocity might be in order

Posted by: Mike Buie | March 24, 2008 06:48 PM

Freshbakes: "not remembered"???!!! when someone doesn't remember something, it's generally a blank- to give a vivid, dramatic and emotional story about what happened simply can't be dismissed as "not remembering." And, when this vivid (can I call it unforgetable?) story is put forward as evidence of sufficient foreign policy experience to be president, this can only be called a deliberate attempt to mislead the American people. Come on, in the real world, people who try get fired- wasn't there a history professor who lost a tenured position over fabricating a vietnam war experience that he told in the classroom? If academics need to be held t high standards of truthfulness, certainly politicians need to be as well- especially given how political lying has gotten us into a long and costly war that has already cost 4000 American lives (and who knows how many innocent Iraqi lives - that number never gets reported, as if it doesn't matter).

The real crime here is that this is not being widely reported- or if it is, it is being downplayed. If we elect another liar to the white house, that shows that this country has really given up on democracy- democracy requires transparent governance and integrity in our leaders. It's not here, folks.

Posted by: C in IL | March 24, 2008 06:50 PM

Now Hillary's camp finally admits that Hillary misspoke about the Bosnia trip. If I land at an airport under sniper fire and had to run ducking my head I will certainly remember very well the incident and not forget when and where it happened. Hillary's spokeman tells that Hillary described in her book "Living History" that there were sniper fire that day.

The whole thing is all made up. Somebody else wrote the book "Living History" for her. She hardly even ead what is written in that book. Her speech writers after reading some lines from that book (which is already a bunch of lies) enbelished it even more and made her regurgitate it.

There are enough suckers in this country, who will buy the Brooklyn bridge from Hillary. Her life is and surrounded by full of lies and deciets. She cannot by any means tell what is real and what is fantasy. Her campaign from day one has been trying very hard to package the lies and with an army of aging governors and retired generals as surrogates tried to sell those lies to the American people.

There has to be an investigation of her $5 million loan to the campaign fund. The Clinton's can not be trusted.

HIllary has no shame.
Her color changes by day and night, depending on her mood, agenda or desperation.
Her track record is unbelievably corrupt.
She, who may be lacking some morals, will do anything in desperate measures to fulfill the empty gap she has been longing for 60 years: to be the first female president.
It's her personal agenda, you see. We, Americans, are not in her horizon.

Hillary scares many of us.... even here in New York.

Posted by: Naera from NYC | March 24, 2008 07:23 PM

Now we know why the Clintons delayed releasing Hillary's White House schedule record well after the Texas and Ohio primaries. If it had been released before the voters would have known how hollow her claim over the 3am phone call was and her false claim on the NAFTA deal.

This goes to show how manupulative the Clintons are.

Hillary's claim that she landed in Bosnia under snipper fire has now become a butt of a joke. What a Commander-in-Chief she would be if she wins the presidency!

To those who still rally behind this consumate lier, are you people wearing blinkers? God really save America if she becomes the president!

Posted by: JISantiago | March 24, 2008 07:25 PM

Mary Ann, let me put some truth to your question and to some of your respondents.

I personally served in Bosnia Herzegovina as a Military Intelligent Agent who was responsible for the safety and intelligence of her trip to Tuzla Airbase along with my team members. I was apart of the IFOR military force who was in Bosnia during the initial landing of our forces at the Airport and remained there all year long.

So here is the facts, my team was monitoring all of the airspace and ground activity and there was no sniper fire during, before or after her visit to Tuzla Airbase. If so, her plane would not have been permitted to land.

She came to our base and meets with officials, then took a Helicopter ride to another base to meet soldiers not located at Tuzla Airbase. She then returned to Tuzla where I had the honor to personally meet with Hillary and Chelsea and introduce her to my team, before they left to head back to other parts of Europe.

My team was responsible to monitor the security of all governmental officials and their guest during their visit within the Tuzla region. During the year my team and I briefed the President of the United States, Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff, Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, and the Secretary of Commerce during the year of 1996 (and supported all efforts related to the loss of our Secretary of Commerce and his plane crash).

The truth, Senator Clinton and her daughter flew into the region and meet with Senior Members of the Military, military soldiers and the Bosnian Government. As I stated before, there was no sniper fire during her visit.

Posted by: Ron - Maryland | March 24, 2008 07:29 PM

Hillary and/or her campaign misspoke about Bosnia, didn't mention the NAFTA meetings she attended, refuses to release/ unredact over a million pages of documents to prove her foreign relations experience, can't find time to release her tax records, leaked pictures of Obama in Somali clothes, darkened Obama's skin in attack ad, allegedly closed the doors early in the Nevada caucus, put her daughter out on the street campaigning, bailed out her campaign from bankruptcy and planted a question in the crowd in Newton, IA. Oh yeah Hillary also found time to play the gender card, race card and sympathy/ victim card. Gee, I wonder why politicians get such a bad reputation.

When Ronald Reagan used to remember things that hadn't happened, they usually turned out to be things he had done (or at least seen) in a movie. In the video clip, LaClinton goes on and on in great detail about events that NEVER TOOK PLACE. von Munchausen had nothing on her--unless she REALLY BELIEVES they took place, then DELUSION must be the answer. (Should LaClinton rally and win the nomination, I shudder to think of how frequently the Republicans will run that video.)

This wasn't a just a simple slip of the tongue. Her initial speech and subsequent discussions with reporters clearly reflect an effort to make her mission seem more dangerous than it really was. She repeated her remarks, even when challenged by the media. In defending her tale, she arranged for third-party validation from Togo West, the Clinton Administration Secretary of the Army, and Lissa Muscatine, a Clinton speechwriter. Only after video emerged disproving her assertions and threatening a political firestorm did she start trying to pass her false claim off as simply "misspeaking." Caught in a huge baldface lie. Pathetic.

Another example of how low the Obama's camp has sunk or the media. Yes, it is indeed an unfortunate 'mispoke' but the amount of coverage this mistake is more than the cover you give on Wright's scandal!

Obama is using everything and doing everything, to avoid answering these real questions about his relationship with Wright:

1. why do you stay for 20 years?
2. why do you still appoint Wright your adviser even though you remove him from the big event of announcing your candidacy?
3. why do you still let your children go to the church to hear Wright's anti-white and anti-american preaching?
4. why do you not wear an American flag pin any more more?
5. why do you pick a new pastor who also believes in Wright teaching?
6. why do you do throw your grandma under the bus with a 'typical white person'
7. why do you incite the Blacks and throw them under the bus by making it sound like all Blacks believe in Wright teaching?

Until he gives adequate answers about these questions then he remains unelectable.

Posted by: melissa | March 24, 2008 09:30 PM

There is a disturbing pattern here. Whether it's Mrs Clinton's version of events in Bosnia or her exaggerated role in the Ireland peace process or her proven inaccuracies surrounding NAFTA or her disputed role helping to pass S-CHIP.

Issue after issue, Mrs Clinton has difficulty with the truth, and this speaks directly to her character. It also brings to mind Mrs Clinton's various explanations for arguing for and voting for the Iraq war. I just can't trust her.

Posted by: Raymond Micheals | March 24, 2008 09:48 PM

Even after they showed Hillary a video of her on the Bosnia tarmack today ... she then launched into another story that didn't hold water. She has a chronic problem with failing to disclose the truth (trying to put it politely)

If she gets elected, I sure hope I don't hear any of her supporters whining about her not telling the truth as President because they ought to know by now that isn't going to happen. Not that every past President has been great at telling the truth but I'm sure Hillary will substantially lower that bar.

Posted by: C Watson | March 24, 2008 09:49 PM

The Clintons.

The claim of entitlement is closing up behind them.

Bill told a lie about his affair with Minica L. Now Hillary has told a lie about her Bosnian trip, and another that she was a peace broker in a N. Ireland treaty. Ready to say anything to win!!!!

Now it's clear, Hillary has no Foreign policy experience at all: Hillary is unelectable, and remember!

Lying is Pejury.

There is ZERO chance of HRC winning a general election against John McCain. She may be able to claim that flying into Bosnia with Sinbad is at least better than Obama, but McCain will just make her look foolish. Hillary ... just .... stop ... please.

Posted by: Marcus | March 24, 2008 10:32 PM

I cant help being amused by Obama's campaign tactics since HRC's big wins..... Do you really want to go after HRC's foreign policy experience? This simply raises questions about his foreign policy experience: what foreign policy experience? How many countries have you visited? What international negotiations have you been a part of? How many international "speeches" did you deliver at summits, conferences and human rights events? Hence, the tactic of spinning her role as being "insignificant" has a rather bold counter effect: it brings to light the deep foreign policy experience gap that exists between these two candidates........

Posted by: JwsAmerica08 | March 24, 2008 10:35 PM

Hillary can not tell the difference between truth and lies. She did not misspeak, she told the same lies with eyes wide open in public on over a dozen recorded occasions. As President she will lie every day to the American people. If she cannot tell the difference between sniper fire and a welcoming poem, can we trust her with our national security? Where is her judgment?

The Clintons!

Bill Clinton for years has been my best living president. One who understands the difficulties of humanity. I loved that and I loved him too.

In the wake of 08 Democratic primary though, the clintons have presented themselves as the owners of the Democratic Party, and have giving the impression that they are so smart and everyone else is so foolish.

The Claims about N. Ireland was untrue, the claim on Bosnia has turned out a lie.

Recently in North Carolina Clinton said Obama is unpatriotic, and the Clinton camp is currenly desperately using the media to deny his statement and deviate attention from it.

In Newhamshire, Clinton labelled Obama's "run for president" "the biggest fairy tale" then, used the media for several week to change the meaning. The media bought it that he meant the "Iraq war" not Obama's run for president.

In South Carolina Bill Clinton said "Jesse Jackson won South Caronlina" Implication! No big deal! Jesse Jackson did not win the nomination after that flash in the pan anyway.

If this is what the clintons are, I cannot change their politics, but I remain disappointed with them. Then, Carville with "gutter politics?"

Everyone is not as foolish as the Clintons believe and the media must stop believing "The Clinyond" too.

Some say that I, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, should have spent Easter weekend in Chappaqua, writing my withdrawal speech and preparing for my return to the Senate. They ask why I stay in the '08 race when Obama has an insurmountable lead in states, delegates, and popular vote. My strategy is for victory in the 2012 presidential election. I will continue to pursue several lines of attack on Obama including denouncing his experience, blaming him for the fiascos in Michigan & Florida, and even praising our Republican rival Senator John McCain as more patriotic and experienced than Obama. My goal is to do extensive damage to Obama to ensure that he looses the general election in '08 and pave the way for my eventual election in 2012! It's a HILLARIOUS strategy, but I will be president by any means necessary.

I Misspoke

It was a treacherous night landing. Ice had formed on both of our wings, and as I looked out the port window, I could see it cracking, flying off into the night sky with each near barrel roll of our C-50, highlighted by the flares shooting past on either side of the cabin, turning them into falling prisms of wildly careening light.

As the cabin lurched back and forth and the sounds of rocket fire percussed the urgent, faltering rhythm of our right engine, I unfastened my seat belt, and, finding my center of gravity, rose from my seat, moving past aides frozen still in their seats, arms locked like girders against their arm rests in terror, and walked up the center aisle to the pilot's cabin.

"How long to Kosovo"? I shouted over the screaming whine of the altimeter's alarm, marking our steep descent. The pilot turned, looked at me in shocked recognition--"How...how did you make it up here? No one has ever walked up here in these conditions before! How..."

"Never mind that!" I barked, with what I hoped was not too much stern forcefulness, with sufficient steel and empathy combined into a firm imperturbability. "Check the master FMC! Is it working or has it failed?"

The pilot, paused, as if in amazement at my readiness , and then himself awakening to crisis, looked to the Control Display Unit . "It's down! It's down!" he shouted. A bead of sweat began to form on his brow.

I knew what I had to do. "Get out of there!" I commanded, and pulled him from the seat, where he crumbled to a fetal position on the floor behind me. Stepping over him, I took the chair behind the console.

"Check the Central Maintenance Computers and activate the NAV RAD for alternate radio tuning capability!" I shouted to the co-pilot. He, too, had broken down in tears, his head buried in his hands. I looked to his ID on the console. Another newbie.

Well, this was another one where I would have to go it alone.

Quickly, I tore the scarf from my neck and fashioned it into a crude lasso that could be used for EFIS/EICIS control. Catching the lever with my right hand, I activated the cabin loudspeaker with my left. I knew that they had likely been gulled by the earlier soft patter of the pilot. "Brace yourself! Get ready! These aren't just words!" Then I pulled the lever back hard, sending us rocketing towards the runway.

"You'll never make it!" I knew that voice, and turned. Richardson! How did he trundle up to the cabin? "Out of here, Judas! And take that quivering beard with you!"

I could feel bolts straining against Pennsylvania steel as I pushed the '50 down, down, down to the ground below us. Suddenly, an explosion punctuated the sky--Hand held rocket fire at 3' o'clock!

I quickly performed the evasive maneuvers that I had learned for so long, and so well. My face became angry, then sad, then gentle, then intensely serious, then was finally rocked by a powerful squealing, an unnatural burst of laughter. That did it! The rocket exploded harmlessly behind us.

Now. Now it was time to take the stick and bring this shaking, careening flight, parts straining against themselves until nearly ready to burst, down to the ground. I put my arms to the twin arms of the FO-AP, set the APC, and with all of the strength remaining in me, began to push the levers down. Straining, I pushed harder. And harder. I could see the runway rising before us in the glare shield. I would have to find the remaining strength to bring it down.

Finally, as if a burst of superhuman might had been somehow delegated to me, I pushed the levers into locked position. I could hear Penn in the cabin shouting "We're landing...We're going down!" as I felt the rough shock of the landing gear snapping into place.

Sparks flew as we hit the runway, bullets ricocheting off of the cabin, one wheel touching pavement. I looked straight through the windshield--the militia, arms at the ready stood at the runway's end. The last obstacle.

I turned the craft hard, sending it hurtling sideways across the pavement. It swept the militia away in a single screaming motion that combined with the screaming that arose from the cabin, as we continued to hurtle towards the small, makeshift terminal, where the dignitaries, negotiators, and heads of state awaited for my arrival.

I did not close my eyes. I did not let go of the wheel. I watched--as we ground to a halt just before the doors of the terminal.

I looked fore, at the dignitaries protecting themselves from the sniper fire that raged around them. I looked aft, at the passengers, shaken but safe.

We had arrived. All was good.

Just a moment...

Due to the discovery of a video of the above described occasion, I would like to make few small corrections. The flight was in fact actually a regularly scheduled Continental Airlines flight that was actually flown by the pilot and co-pilot--although the pilot did have a cold, and during the flight, I did at several times give serious attention to our flight conditions (notes indicate that I found it "a bit bumpy") I would also note that the dinner, Salmon with Creamed Potatoes, was undercooked, and was served with a Riesling that was unusually dry. It is also true that we were met not by a militia but by a girl's youth soccer team. However, it was necessary for me to dodge a soccer ball as team members demonstrated their often aggressive skills. No other shots were fired.

In short: I misspoke."

Slight difference between mis-speaking and outright lying. The Clinton ability to
mis-rmember provable facts seems not to be limited to the former President.

Clinton was out right lying when she claimed she dodged sniper fire.

America does not need another President that believes Americans are gullible.

It's time Clinton simply withdraws from the race so Democrats have a fighting chance to win in November.

Well Hillary did have to "land a certain way and move quickly" in Bosnia in fact as she has made further clarification on and that is a simple fact. This whole flap Obama is creating is an OBVIOUS desperate attempt by the Obama camp to take attention away from the fact Obama's spiritual adviser and mentor of 20 years is a racist who hates America, just like Obama's wife Michelle. At least Obama has one friend who has loved America, America has been very good to Obama's Syrian friend Tony Rezko. Rezko has made millions through taking advantage of Americans with his extortion, money laundering and fraud schemes. Louis Farrakhan loves America too along with Obama.

A flat out lie. That's all it is. Get real and see it for what it is.

Posted by: barry | March 25, 2008 02:14 AM

Wow! The fat lady just sang and she's wearing trousers. Quite simply, you do not forget as a mother when your daughter is in danger. This is not a "memory blip", it is a bold face lie.

Go ahead Clinton Kool-aid drinkers, eat another whopper. In the meantime, the rest of us are going to start focusing on Obama beating McCain in November.

Think about it. 1996 Breaking News, Top Story: " First lady and her daughter, Chelsea, landed in Bosnia today while under sniper fire. Secret Service quickly got her and Chelsea off the tarmac to safety". If Hillary had really been "under sniper fire" in Bosnia during her 1996 trip, most Americans that were old enough to read and understand the news would have remembered such an incident. The fact that not one person to my knowledge has said, "oh yes, I remember that" clearly proves that her statement is nothing more than a lie.

I am not necessarily speaking of Senator Clinton or Michelle Obama; but speaking to the broader scope of trivializing the position 'First Lady'. Accepting the role requires a person to be capable as acting as an agent, representing an entity, a nation, a people. The candidate must be versed, educated, politically minded, have the ability to give speeches, embrace causes and discuss issues. Internationally, the role is even greater, representing the people, the nation...under intense scrutiny. To trivialize this role sends a horrible message to our children, daughters, sisters, wives. And if an equivalent job was available in the marketplace, you can be sure the requirements would be steep as the responsibilities are enormous.

That Senator Clinton was told on the plane there were snipers outside, and that frightening knowledge may have profoundly concerned her, with her daughter present. The human memory files things away and I imagine THIS this recollection was one of urgent potential danger. I don't blame her a bit.

My point - She should not have to be defending her previous experience. The position of 'First Lady' by definition requires vast skills. When we elect a president, we scrutinize the spouses, for the very fact that they will be required to act as ambassadors around the world.

MYTH: Barack Obama is running a positive campaign that will unite Americans.
FACT: Barack Obama and his advisers have conducted a divisive "full assault" on Hillary's character.
While talking a lot about the politics of hope, change and unity, Sen. Obama and his campaign have been conducting a relentless and singularly personal assault on Hillary's character. They have blanketed big states with false negative mailers and radio ads and have described Hillary and her campaign as "disingenuous," "divisive," "untruthful," "dishonest," "polarizing," "calculating," "saying whatever it takes to win," "attempting to deceive the American people," "one of the most secretive in America," "deliberately misleading," "literally willing to do anything to win," and "playing politics with war."
This "full assault" on Hillary's integrity and character has reached a new peak since Hillary's victories on March 4th. One of Sen. Obama's top surrogates equated President Clinton with Joe McCarthy; another called Hillary a "monster;" and his campaign manager held an angry conference call claiming that Hillary is "deeply flawed" and has "character issues." That's neither unifying nor hopeful. If Sen. Obama really is the prohibitive favorite some say he is, these negative attacks make absolutely no sense. Why would a frontrunner seek to attack and divide? If Sen. Obama can't unify Democrats in a primary, how can he unify Americans in a general election?

CNN-Passport exec is Obama adviser, CEO of the company whose employees accused of improperly looking at the passport files of presidential candidates is consultant on foreign policy to the Barack Obama campaign

Obama Flip-Flops
1. Special interests In January, the Obama campaign described union contributions to the campaigns of Clinton and John Edwards as "special interest" money. Obama changed his tune as he began gathering his own union endorsements. He now refers respectfully to unions as the representatives of "working people" and says he is "thrilled" by their support
2. Public financing Obama replied "yes" in September 2007 when asked if he would agree to public financing of the presidential election if his GOP opponent did the same. Obama has now attached several conditions to such an agreement, including regulating spending by outside groups. His spokesman says the candidate never committed himself on the matter.
3. The Cuba embargo In January 2004, Obama said it was time "to end the embargo with Cuba" because it had "utterly failed in the effort to overthrow Castro." Speaking to a Cuban American audience in Miami in August 2007, he said he would not "take off the embargo" as president because it is "an important inducement for change."
4. Illegal immigration In a March 2004 questionnaire, Obama was asked if the government should "crack down on businesses that hire illegal immigrants." He replied "Oppose." In a Jan. 31, 2008, televised debate, he said that "we do have to crack down on those employers that are taking advantage of the situation."
5. Decriminalization of marijuana While running for the U.S. Senate in January 2004, Obama told Illinois college students that he supported eliminating criminal penalties for marijuana use. In the Oct. 30, 2007, presidential debate, he joined other Democratic candidates in opposing the decriminalization of marijuana.

If Bill Clinton did send Hillary to play an important role in the Bosnia situation, then he screwed up. With her resume at that time, she was qualified to be an ambassador to a stable friendly country without too much going on, sure. Nice, smart, sociable person, liberated, educated lady, able to get along and do good work. But you would send serious professionals to troubleshoot a situation like Bosnia. Not your wife.

I believe that is what Bill Clinton did, which is why the Balkans thing worked out rather well, considering. Could have been much worse.

I mean, why take the risk? You ask your wife to handle that and it goes haywire, you are so hosed. Worse, far worse than the health care thing. Bill's top people would have told him that, and he and she would have both heard and understood. I just don't think they did that. Why she wants to say it now -- well, who knows. But it's crap.

Posted by: hhkeller | March 25, 2008 10:36 AM

The Associated Press reporter Ron Fournier wrote a story called "Helicopter-Hopping First Lady Says 'Thanks' to Bosnia Troops". I read the article and it DOES chronicle the dangers of that enviroment and it was significant that Hillary Rodhan Clinton was the first First Lady since Eleanor Roosevelt that had made such a trip to honor troops. The article also notes a few stops OUTSIDE the military post where she was not accompanied by USO entertainers. There is no video footage of that. She may have exaggerated a bit but the area was considered hostile and she WAS protected by sharp-shooters at various points.

Obama better be careful that this does not back fire. They do have a debate coming up. The media here has once again has ginger flexed to pounce on Hillary. If one looks closely at this AP account it is a PR dream for her.

none of the candiadtes are directly responsible for the words of their supporters or campaign staff. Even though they may or may not agree with what is said, there is room to give the benefit of the doubt. however, when a pattern is obvious, that room is squeezed tighter and tighter. that being said, we must seriously consider the words that come directly from these candidates mouths.

Hillary Clinton is too shy to tell how she
managed to bring the sniper down!Had she not landed in Bosnia the Serbs would have overrun the country. Its because of her act
that today Bosnia exists as free nation.Let
us not forget how she inspired Montenegrons
to breakaway from Serbia successfully. Her diplomacy and strategy outwit Kissinger.Let
Obama also know that Kosovars worship her as their savior.

Seems like she's finally come clean on this. Ah, honesty; does a body good!

Don't know if I'd want more typically Clintonian obfuscation & obstructionism in the White House.

The EC votes are who elects the Prez. The research I've been doing since about June of last year has Hillary winning 309. These have not changed. The idea that Obama can win in 2008 defies all logic. Throughout this period of time, many claims have been made by supporters of different candidates as to the Electability of their favorite. The FACTS, according to every Internal of the polls I have seen is that Hillary will win and Obama would not. The remaining 10 states and territories are about 7 to 3 in favor of Hillary. Given the votes in Fla. and Mi., with those still pending, gives the lead to Hillary in the popular vote.

What and what more from Hillary and Surrgates Liers. A Commedian is even better havung a Resounding Memmoirs than Hillary and his campaigners alltogether.

A person in Mr. Simbard, Higly memmorable should be substituted for Hillary now before everything lookig like a piece of Nonsensity.

I have said that Hillary Despirado will fetch her easily to play this game like Gutter people. When somebody of High class will say and tell tails, but now only to a Fool.

Based on the facts we know now Hillary should just Pack it in for the sake of All Intelegent Womenn in America.

She has finally brought the Final Curtain down on herself. I have written quite often that Hillary wanted to Bring the Roof down on Democrats, thank God, the previous Kitchen sink trusted at American Democrats, supporters of Obama had changed it course in the Air to hit Hillary herself.

Fellow Democrats and Independent and Converted Republican, now A Bogus Lier shall not be truisted from 'Day one' to be your Chief of Staff and evidently she lacks proper Pictorial memories and Retentivity.

I wish you all the best, probably Gov Rendal can take her position now to face His Excellency to be President Barack Obama.

This is even more ridiculous as her claim that she was named after Sir Edmund Hillary (she wasn't), and it reveals her anabashed compulsion to paint herself in a positive light no matter what. I suppose being married to a charming, if pathological "truth-bender" has something to do with her tainted charater, but ol' "Hills" should remember one key difference: Hubby prez Bill mostly gets away with it because he is warm and charismatic. She, on the other hand, has about as much charm and warmth as a pit viper. For someone so smart, she is making some incredibly stupid mistakes lately.

I started out with great admiration, respect and trust for Senator Clinton. I was thrilled to hear that she was running for president.

I would have glady cast my vote for her with pride.

I looked at her vote for the war as an honest mistake...."we were all tricked into believing the reasons for this military campaign", I said.

I was even sad for the Clinton's while they were at the center of controversy during Bill's presidency. "Leave Bill Alone", I said....I Love Bill...still do.

Now, my heart is broken.

The more of them I see the more disapointed I am. Their increasingly negative campaign tactics against a fellow American and Democrat has in my sincere opinon been pretty low.

Every day, I find more reasons to be ashamed of my favorite candidate.

Every self revealed exposure of questionable character traits in her make my heart heavy.

"How can I support her now"?...I ask myself. Can I, a man that works hard to walk above the influence of scornfulness turn a blind eye for loyalty's sake?

Could I look at myself in the mirror and honelstly say that I believe that I have made the best choice for America? I could not if I cast my vote for Hillary.

My first loyalty is to my country.

From the beginning, I have had my quetions about Senator Obama and contrary to how I now see the Clintons, the more I see of him, the more my heart and mind embrace him and his remarkable ability to gather support from the most progressive minds of every walk of American society. I have been reluctant but overwhelmingly compelled to support this movement in the best direction for America.

There's an old saying that if you tell one lie, you have to tell seven more to cover it up. But then, presumably, as we have seen in the Bush Administration, each of the seven cover-up lies must be covered up with seven more. Looks to me as if Hillary Clinton IS sufficiently experienced in "misspeaking" to qualify for just the kind of president we've grown accustomed to. Hail to the Deceivers.

"If Hillary had really been "under sniper fire" in Bosnia during her 1996 trip, most Americans that were old enough to read and understand the news would have remembered such an incident. The fact that no one person to my knowledge has said, "oh yes, I remember that" clearly proves that her statement is nothing more than a lie."
Scott

Scott, I have always thought that Hillary has a credibility issue, moreso, she has no ideas. She started off with "inevitable." It didn't work, she borrowed CHANGE from Obama, then she borrowed HOPE from Obama, then, she borrowed the FUTURE from Obama.

Now, "this whole thing about 'experience' is a FAIRY TALE"

Posted by: Allen Alex | March 25, 2008 11:35 AM

Mispoke?!

ROTFLMAO

What's not funny is one of her top advisors calling a good man, and a top Democrat in this country a "Judas".

The Clinton campaign will say and do anything to win, including risk destroying the Democratic party along the way. Republicans are rejoicing over this. Democrats are in shock, and very nervous over what the future might hold for their party.

On the improbable chance that Clinton is the nominee, I will view this as a Republican versus Republican election, and as someone who has never voted for a Republican for President, act accordingly.

I will not reward Democrats acting like Republicans towards other Democrats -- never!

And, should the Democrats lose elections in the Fall, ones they should have won, I hope the Clintons are in effect banned from the Democratic Party, permanently.

thats not even an admission!!!!
she said it twice over the months, and lied to a reporters question!!! and it is in her prepared speech!!!
Embarassing, they have no shame! Need to stay in it to cut down Obama and get ready for 2012.
What about her taxes too!

TALK ABOUT MIS SPEAKING! OBAMA DOES A FAIR SHARE OF IT TOO, WHAT I HEARD WAS THEY WERE TOLD THER MIGHT BE SNIPER FIRE WHEN THEY HIT THE GROUND, SO MAYBE SHE REMEMBED THAT? HELL SOMEON ASKED OBAMA ABOUT A QUOTE FROM HIS BOOK, AND HE SAID HE COULD NOT RECALL MAKING THAT, AND THAT WAS IN THE BOOK HE MADE MILLIONS ON?? GUESS HE DON'T REMEMBER BECAUSE HE DIDN'T WRITE THE DAMN THING!!!!!!!! AND AS FAR AS THE CHURCH THING HE DIDN'T RECALL THE HATE MESSAGES,BUT IN HIS "RACE SPEACH HE SAYS HE WAS THERE!!! AND ON LARRY KING THIS PAST WEEK, HE DENIED IT AGAIN THAT HE WASN'T IN THE CHURCH FOR THE HATE SPEACHES! SO YOU WANT TO CALL HILLARY A LIER YOU BETTER WAIT TILL OBAMA COMES HOME FROM HIS SO CALLED VACATION, AND ASK HIM ABOUT THE CEO OF THE ONE CO THAT DID THE PASSPORT THING?????? OBAMA GOT LOTS OF MONEY FROM HIM FOR HIS CAMPAIGN, AND THE GUY MIGHT KNOW MORE ON THE PASSPORT THING THEN YOU OBAMANITWITS WANT TO EXCEPT! HE AIN'T A SAINT, AND THE CHICKENS WILL COME HOME TO ROOST AT HIS DOOR TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: JABBER | March 25, 2008 12:15 PM

I HOPE HILLARY TAKES ALL IN THIS ELECTION, OBAMA WANTS TO DRIVE HER OUT OF THE CAMPAIGN, HE WENT ON A SUPPOSEDLY VACATION WHILE HIS VOLCHERS TRIED TO EAT HER ALIVE!! HE WRITES WORDS IN HIS BOOKS ON HIS SO CALLED SPEACH AND DOESN'T KNOW WHAT HE SAYS LATER! IT MUST BE THE "WEEDS" AND "CRACK" COMING BACK TO HAUNT HIM. THAT IS IN HIS BOOK TOO! MAYBE HE SHOULD TAKE LESSONS ON HOW NOT TO LIE ALSO!!!!

Posted by: JABBER | March 25, 2008 12:29 PM

It's always interesting to see what politicians choose to lie about. For Hillary, she has to be seen as some kind of war hero in Bosnia, presumably as part of her ongoing quest to be more macho than the men around her (see also, the war vote). For Obama, we see how he handled the Wright video -- he reframed its sulphurous language so we could understand how hate speech evolves and why it's so pernicious in a democracy. And he refused to lie about how much he loved Wright the man, if not always the sermons. It would have been so easy to lie there... I really wonder why he didn't. What does that tell us about him? I won't rush to the usual bromides about what a paragon he is... Maybe someone with common sense SHOULD have lied. Will he be handling crises in this fiercely independent way in the future? Will it serve our interests as a country?

Posted by: Curious Fellow | March 25, 2008 12:38 PM

The Clinton years. What sweet memories. First lady being chased by snipers, while Monica was being chased by Bubba. First lady serving tea to Irish women while the president was serving semen to an intern. Those were the good old days.

If Hillary can't remember what really happened at the tarmac on her trip to Bosnia, what else of the 35 years of her experience does she not remember. So far nobody has been able to put together a profile of Mrs.Clinton for the past 35 years. Wha a shame this country has so many morons who will let themselves be subjected to such lies and deciets by the Clintons and still send their donations to her campaign.

I'm ashamed of Sen Hillary Clinton. If she lies on an event as insignificant to her presidential aspiration as a trip to Bosnia 12 years ago, what lies wont she tell to get herself into the Whitehouse. This is more than a 'missspeak', it is a deliberate and callous effort by a desparate candidate to deceive a people. I believe now that the Clintons would say anything and do anything to win an election. She needs to withdraw from the race now!

Posted by: Jake | March 25, 2008 01:02 PM

Yes sen clinton was in Bosnia and 70 other countrys for diplomatic reasons for the USA as the Presidents wife, no less.
Obamas yrs in the Moslim side of a Cath school in Indonesia would never be considered close to that important-that is experience but at that age what was being ingrained in his little mind.
There is no comparision to the experience Sen Clinton has had in her life and the experience BObama has had.
The incidents that have come up in BObamas life so far give more people real reasons for not voting for him. Resko isnt going away it just will explode later as well as once we see his tax records. Theres lots of info about OBama that hasn't come out yet- when it will it will give people another reason to distance themselves from him.
LATELY WE HAVE HEARD THAT MANY REPUBLICANS CROSSED LINES TO VOTE FOR ONE OF THE DEM CANDIDATES. IT MAY HAVE BEEN CLINTON IN OHIO BUT IF THE RED STATES (TYPICALLY REP) WERE CHECKED AS WELL PLUS TX I THINK YOU WOULD FIND THAT THE REP CROSSED LINES TO PUSH OBAMA'S DELEGATES IN THOSE STATES. THIS WAS PART OF HIS STATEGY TO GET VOTES-HE USED RUSH LIMBAUGHS WORDS TO BOOST HIS NUMBERS.
In Texas i was at caucus in my prec. signing people in and many said off the cuff that they were republicans who crossed over to vote for obama. If Ohio is being checked then in all fairness we need to check wy and Tx and maybe a few other states.
I had thought I might vote for Obama if Clinton lost but after our primary I would never consider it. Obamas people pulled underhanded things all across our state, while the Clinton higher ups told us to just concentrate on doing the right thing, we were not to stoop to their level. Because of this Obama will loose delegates in our state- they didnt need to act like they did. The Clinton people were there to be fair and see what happened.
If it had been fair Obama and clinton delegates would have been almost equal -instead obama ended up with more in our prec. This is the way obama did things in Chicago and that is how he organized his people to do it all over the country. His people strong armed and pushed and intimidated but there is such a thing as Dem process , so if you have a complaint you can voice it to committees and that is what many Clinton people have done. We documented these incidents so everyone would know.
Go Hillary , madam president

Hillary exaggerated, plain and simple. How many of you would remember being shot at? I know that it would be a vivid memory for me. If you look at her March 17th video footage claiming the Bosnia trip as experience, she tried convincingly to lie. Then when confronted with an alternative story of the Bosnia trip by Sinbad told to a reporter, Hillary belittled him. And now it turns out that what Sinbad said was true. This incident goes to the core of Hillary's character.

Hillary only acknowledged that she "misspoke" after video footage came out showing her contradiction and more interviews with others on the Bosnia trip spoke out. Can we trust Hillary to tell the truth? We already have a current President who suffers for lack of truthfulness.

Posted by: ajtiger92 | March 25, 2008 01:13 PM

We should judge a person by their actions and not their words.

The fact that Obama choose Mr. Wright as his spiritual teacher for 20 years and included Mr. Wright in his election staff speaks well for Mr. Obama's thinking and actions. Words are easy to manipulate and it is UNLIKELY that Obama's recent race speech was written by Mr. Obama himself, but of course written by his spin machine.

But it seems to me if Mr. Obama had a lighter skin tone, there is no way he would be tolerated in as much he is aligned with a violent religious group, and never says anything substantial. And not only that, consider yesterday's announcement that the chief of the firm involved in the State Department's passport breach is Obama's adviser. And that Obama has been caught lying about Rezko, regarding the amount of money Rezko gave him, and that Obama still hasn't come clean about his Rezko land deal.

If Obama were to become president, what would stop Mr. Obama from appointing Mr. Wright to his cabinet? And to be sure, if anyone complained about Mr. Wright's appointment, they would be called racist.

We should have as our country's leader someone with wisdom and knowledge regardless of race, not someone hungry for power for the sake of power.

Out of all the 300 million people in America, is this really who you want for president - blindly popular with young people, power hungry, deceptive, vague, and coldly self-centered - is there a better definition of a potential Anti-Christ?

Posted by: Ola Dug | March 25, 2008 01:16 PM

Why is this surprising to anyone? You would have to be very arrogant and certain that you covered all of your tracks, and wiped all of the fingerprints away to have "misspoken" like that...I mean there were news reporters with cameras which had tapes in them to record this "Historical" event. So it baffles me as to why Hillary thought that she can have a "Blip" and basically keep it moving.

Obama's former pastor, Rev. Wright, was in the US Marines. Rev. Wright has been instrumental in helping to develop ministries in his community that address poverty, HIV/AIDS, civil rights, homelessness, lack of chrisitan faith, and family cohesion for over 35 years.

Mo...I know it is tempting and easy to define a person with three 10-second or so sound bites, but get real and get educated. Go to YouTube and see most of the talk (~10 minutes) from which one of sound bites was taken. If Rev. Wright was so Anti-American and Anti-White, why was he invited to the White House with other ministers to have a prayer breakfast with then President Bill Clinton right before Bill Clinton went on the Monica Lewinski trial?

U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton's lying about her Bosnia trip was not a mere "minor blip" as some Clinton advisers and admirers claim. This was a major embellished remark used by Sen. Clinton to bolster her so called "foreign affairs experiences." Just wonder how many other "minor blips" she already uttered, and if elected U.S. President, how many lies and deceits she's got in storage.

So here's a question to the Clinton supporters...is she a trustworthy person after being caught inflating her experience here? Can you trust the other 34.5 years of experience she has claimed?

She sure doesn't seem trustworthy to me.

Would you want a doctor who "misspoke" on her resume?

A banker who "misspoke" on her resume?

A financial planner who "misspoke" about her qualifications?

A significant other who "misspoke" about him/herself?

How would you feel if you were passed over for a promotion and you found out the person they hired "misspoke" about their qualifications?

Why do you want a President who will do this?

It's as clear as day when you see the differences between the two. Obama makes mistakes and owns up to them. Hillary makes mistakes and tries to spin it. Every candidate will make mistakes, and no matter how the media tries to inflate or deflate the mistake, it's going to happen to each of them. The thing we should be judging as voters is how they respond to the mistake.

In the next news cycle, you'll likely hear about the right wing conspiracy to control the media to make Hillary look bad(Victim card). How if she were a man and said these things that it wouldn't matter (Gender card). If she were black and did this it wouldn't make the evening news (Race card). The truth is that she told a lie and got caught. Sure enough, the Clinton spin machine is already prepping the reporters for tomorrows "card" spin cycle. The only question is which card will she play?

If a candidate builds their campaign on experience, and when you drill down into their experience you find it's been fabricated, what does that lead you to believe about the whole campaign? I for one see a serious flaw in the campaign strategy - which makes me wonder about the type of Presidential strategy she would formulate.

I hope the media will drill down into all that she is claiming as policy experience and vet it for what it is. There is obviously some fluff here and we need to see what's underneath.

The truth is right in front of you. And as we saw when we elected the village idiot in office now, you get what you vote for.

Don't vote for a liar. You'll get lies.

I Misspoke

It was a treacherous night landing. Ice had formed on both of our wings, and as I looked out the port window, I could see it breaking into shards, flying off into the night sky with each near barrel roll of our C-50, highlighted by the flares shooting past on either side of the cabin, turning them into falling prisms of wildly careening light.

As the cabin lurched back and forth and the sounds of rocket fire percussed the urgent, faltering rhythm of our right engine, I unfastened my seat belt, and, finding my center of gravity, rose from my seat, moving past aides frozen stock still in their chairs, arms locked like girders against their arm rests in terror, and walked up the center aisle to the pilot's cabin.

"How long to Kosovo"? I shouted over the screaming whine of the altimeter's alarm, marking our steep descent. The pilot turned, looked at me in shocked recognition--"How...how did you make it up here? No one has ever walked up here in these conditions before! How..."

"Never mind that!" I barked, with what I hoped was a not too stern forcefulness, combined with sufficient steel and empathy to create the appearance of a firm imperturbability. "Check the master FMC! Is it working or has it failed?"

The pilot, paused, as if in amazement at my readiness, and then himself awakening to crisis, looked to the Control Display Unit . "It's down! It's down!" he shouted. A bead of sweat began to form on his brow.

I knew what I had to do. "Get out of there!" I commanded, and pulled him from the seat, from where he crumbled to a fetal position on the floor behind me.

I knew that the passengers had likely been gulled by the earlier soft patter of the pilot.

It swept the militia away in a single screaming motion that combined with the screaming that arose from the cabin, as we continued to move towards the small, makeshift terminal, where the dignitaries, negotiators, and heads of state awaited for my arrival.

The flight was in fact actually a regularly scheduled chartered flight that was actually flown by the pilot and co-pilot--although the pilot did have a cold, and during the flight, I did at several times give serious attention to our flight conditions (notes indicate that I found it "a bit bumpy"). I would also note that the dinner, Salmon with Creamed Potatoes, was undercooked, and was served with a Riesling that was unusually dry. It is also true that we were met not by a militia, but by a girl's youth soccer team. However, it was necessary for me to dodge a soccer ball as team members demonstrated their often aggressive skills. No othe
