Former Rep. John Sweeney, Fighting GOP Conspiracies
It looks like the vast right wing conspiracy doesn't discriminate when it comes to party affiliation.
Lawyers for John Sweeney Jr., the son of former GOP Rep. John Sweeney of upstate New York, are now arguing that the younger Sweeney's arrest in a violent brawl four years ago was part of a conspiracy led by former Gov. George Pataki -- a Republican -- to destroy congressman Sweeney.
The elder Sweeney, who has had his own brushes with brawls and alcohol-related incidents, survived re-election in 2004, the year his son was charged with (and later convicted of) felony assault. But he lost in 2006 to Rep. Kirsten Gillibrand(D-N.Y.).
E. Stewart Jones, a lawyer for Sweeney Jr., is now defending the son in a lawsuit stemming from the criminal case. According to the Albany Times Union, Jones wrote a letter to the judge in the case last week arguing that state police officials working for Pataki were engaged in an "effort to embarrass the congressman."

Who give's a rat's ass about what Republicans do to themselves? What I want to know is why Republicans in Congress are opposed to a voting machine that can't be tampered with and provides a paper trail. It's time to rip the mask off of Satan here on Earth.
