Kucinich Vows More Impeachment Articles On the Way

Democratic leaders who are worried about Rep. Dennis Kucinich's (D-Ohio) impeachment obsession ain't seen nothing yet.

Kucinich tells us he's giving the House Judiciary Committee 30 days to act on his resolution proposing 35 articles of impeachment against President Bush or else he'll raise even more hell on the House floor. Thirty-five articles was just the tip of the iceberg. If Judiciary does nothing, he'll go back to the House floor next month armed with nearly twice as many articles.

"The minute the leadership said 'this is dead on arrival' I said that I hope they believe in life after death; because I'm coming back with it," Kucinich vowed in an interview with the Sleuth this week. "It's not gonna die. Because I'll come back with more articles. Not 35, but perhaps 60 articles."

But before he stages Night of the Living Impeachment Part II in the House chamber, the former presidential candidate says he'll meet with House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers (D-Mich.) this week to try to convince him to consider just one little article of impeachment against Bush for waging a war "based on lies." Take one, any one, Chairman Conyers, but please - just take one!

"It only takes one of the 35 articles to establish an impeachable offense," Kucinich explains.

Democratic leaders view the notion of impeaching George W. Bush as an act of political suicide for their party. But Kucinich says "there are some things that yield to reason, and there are other things that yield to politics...I cannot understand what the political reason would be to not [impeach Bush]."

Kucinich says the Democratic leadership's silence is eroding the constitutional framework of checks and balances. "What we're witnessing here is the not so slow moving destruction of our Constitution."

Asked why he thinks his leadership is so appalled by impeachment, he says, "There is no rational explanation...There's no plausible political explanation. There just is no explanation."

And here is Kucinich's ultimate impeachment fantasy: "What I would hope for, is that if articles of impeachment are forwarded to the Senate against the president, that the vice president would understand that he will come under scrutiny too, and that he would resign so that the president could appoint someone who could take his office if he were forced to leave."

Sure, that's likely. As soon as the Nationals win the pennant.

Dennis Kucinich. The most patriotic public servant in all of Washington. It is a shame that the media decided he wasn't "sexy" enough for any meaningful coverage.

I salute your patriotism and the your honor-bound duty that you are pursuing. I wish like you, that all other members of congress remembered that they have a sworn responsibility to uphold the constitution and the rule of law.

Out of curiosity, If a republican is elected come the fall elections, will the swearing in ceremony be something like:

Do you swear to protect and defend the Constitution of the united States, except ammendments #__, #__, #___, #___, #___
to the best of your ability?

"best of your ability" needs to be replaced with something like "unequivocally?" or "without fail"

"...Best of your ability" has enough wiggle room to make attorneys orgasm wildly, and criminals to go free.

If a democrat is being sworn in, and is asked:

"Do you swear to protect and defend the Constitution of the united States, against enemies foreign and domestic,to the best of your ability?

The response shouldn't be a customary "I do". Instead, it should be:

"No, I promise to protect the constitution of the united stated fully, unequivocally, and without fail, against enemies foreign or domestic."

In 2003, gas was $2/gallon. Then, Pres. Bush, in the words of Scott McLellan, "manipulated public opinion" to lead us into war in Iraq. What's the difference between that and lying? Since then, besides the number of people killed, our budget deficit swelled, our dollar shrank, resulting in our $4/gallon gas and failed economy. Nothing will be done about gas prices or our economy, until we get out of Iraq, and until Bush and Cheney are held accountable for lying us into war. It is time to do so now, not after, Bush and Cheney "manipulate public opinion" to lead us into a war in Iran with $10/gallon gas. Oh, that's right, drilling in the Arctic and the Gulf would lower it to $9.99/gallon.

Bush was able to lure his country into war so easily because he exploited deficiencies in the democratic process. So what America needs is more democracy, more openness, and more respect for the law. This is exactly what Kucinich is proposing, and if he fails, it won't be his own fault. At least he has the courage and the honesty to DO something, and not sit back and calculate and think about his own career. If he fails, then America will have shown to the world that it does NOT have the ability to self correct, and it will no longer be regarded as a defender of freedom and democracy, but as an aggressor that uses democracy as an excuse for grabbing whatever it can.

I think the WaPo strongly underestimates We the People's DEMAND for impeachment.

Nancy Pelosi should recuse herself as speaker for refusing to act, a RePUG should be appointed to serve during impeachment hearings.

A torture special prosecutor needs to be appointed IMMEDIATELY.

Too many Democrats are severely compromised to be party to the impeachment action.

It is TORTURE ruining American strategic interests and creating real terrorists; it was TORTURE that cause people to vote Democrat in 2006. Nancy took impeachment "off the table" and her husband makes huge money off government WAR contracts. We the People know that.

As is said: WHO IS KIDDING WHO ?

If America can't police itself, it is a FAILED STATE, and any nation can come in and run America. Any JAG can tell you that.

A full 50% of repugs want no association with George W. Bush. So . it's not so far fetched to think that a INDICTMENT could be passed in the Senate if any of the RNC folks want to be win re-election.

There are H. Res 1258 AND H. Res 333; no one is suggesting that Cheney take over.

People can laugh and point at Dennis Kucinich all they want... constantly labeling him as a crackpot or "conspiracy theorist"...

However... is he not one of the only people that realize if there are no checks reinserted to bring balance back to the federal government the authority of the President could and most likely will continue to erode the Constitution until you wake up one morning and find yourself in the middle of an absolute dictatorship...

These articles also serve notice to John McCain that he either changes his attitude and platform... or be brought up on the same charges as what he hopes will soon be his predecessor...

Dennis Kucinich is a hero. If Congress doesn't act immediately to initiate investigations and take SOME action to distance itself from this criminal administration, the current members will be as culpable as anyone else. To insist that they are too busy with other critical priorities while the executive branch continues to defy our basic principles and laws in our name makes them complicit. There isn't anything more important than standing up for the constitution that gives them their authority.

Please...Call Conyers (his staff are quite interested in conversation with callers). Call Pelosi and Hoyer and express your disgust at their shallow posturing. Call your representative and make sure he or she knows you won't support anyone who doesn't take action against the criminal behavior of our leaders!

How will impeaching Bush be a political suicide for the Democratic Party? That beats me. Surely starting a war on lies to enrich his industrial buddies in the armaments and security sectors is an impeachable crime. The sheer number of American deaths, disabled and wounded soldiers need to be vindicated by the punishment of the culprit. Besides the destruction of electricity, water and sewerage systems in Iraq that are civilian facilities are war crimes. They were not knocked out by stray bombs. Many, of the most serious crimes imaginable, have been committed by this Administration, the CIA, & the military.

These crimes involve War Crimes, Crimes Against Humanity & domestic felonies (illegal wiretapping, intentionally disseminating propaganda against the American public in order to garner support for an illegal war,) & are violations under US Federal statutes & under International Law.

These criminals need to be held accountable even if it takes 20 years to achieve.

I strongly support the impeachment of George W Bush for crimes against the people of this country, and the constitution. I could care less about the politics of it - it's simply what's right. We do have a moral obligation to future generations of Americans to stand up for the constitution.

Posted by: Key Stone | June 18, 2008 11:25 PM

Ms. Akers, thank you for keeping this critical issue before the public. Mr. Kucinich is an American hero!

When one considers all the evidence to date regarding events of the U.S. led Iraq invasion, including last week's Senate Select Committee on Intelligence's report, plus the many writings from those who worked inside the Bush White House, the scope and depth of the lying is staggering.

President Bush and his White House Neo-Con-men (who signed the Project for the New American Century manifesto for world domination at all cost) should be put on trial before the public for the atrocities they have caused.

And Speaker Nancy Pelosi should be investigated for aiding them, saying the impeachment issue over the Iraq War is "off the table", and as she states in a recent letter to me, "I believe impeachment proceedings against Vice President Dick Cheney will distract us from our mission...". Well, to Ms. Pelosi and all those who are relentlessly enabling this epic tragedy of senseless death, shattered lives, broken families, mind-numbing abuses of our hard-earned tax dollars, savage corporate exploitation; I say, JUSTICE IS NO DISTRACTION! There is no justice without impeachment!

Many in Congress and the Senate had the same intelligence as the White House administration, yet their conclusions were vastly different and, as it turns out, shockingly correct.

The press, which as we now know from Bill Moyers' insightful PBS documentary, "Buying the War", rather than giving us the benefit of being watch-dog, instead served as lap-dog to the Bush White House--providing no real means for adequate public scrutiny.

The Congressional Black Caucus was, and is, a shining example of stewardship of the public interest and welfare. They stood in the House on the eve of the invasion on Iraq and made fact based, rational, and passionate presentations pleading with the President not to invade Iraq.

Sadly, most Americans to this day still do not know about those presentations because the mainstream press never reported that historic event.

Nevertheless, I shall forever remember that night in 2003, while watching C-SPAN--those powerful words, with truth and humanity from Rep. Maxine Waters:

"Mr. President, you cannot substitute a preemptive strike on Saddam Hussein for finding the terrorists. We want the terrorists to be found....

We want to secure the homeland. We are worried that you have been diverted, that you are about to do this preemptive strike without the documentation....

Yes, every country should be able to defend itself, but we are in no danger from Iraq. As a matter of fact, that is probably one of the weakest points on the globe for us to attack. We are not threatened by Saddam Hussein....

What we see and we are witnessing is the mismanagement of America. Someone today criticized Senator Daschle because he talked about the diplomatic disaster. Mr. President, it is a diplomatic disaster. We are watching before our very eyes the mismanagement of our beloved country. Our schools are falling apart. You said you wished to leave no child behind, but, Mr. President, you have not funded assistance to education that will have our children in the best possible situations where they can learn. Our health care system has fallen apart. In my city, in my county we are closing healthcare clinics. We are closing hospitals....

Mr. President, you are not able to tell us what this war is going to cost and what the cleanup, what the revitalization, the reconstruction of Iraq is going to cost. The American people need to know where our dollars are going. The American people need to understand the cost of this war and why....

Mr. President, we must raise these questions. We must raise these questions because we are patriots. We are folks who love this country. We are folks who have stood by this country no matter what, and we will continue to stand by this country. We will continue to stand by our soldiers. But, Mr. President, you are going to have to account for the leadership that you are giving, and I say to you and all those who are advising you, be it Wolfowitz, be it Secretary of State Colin Powell, be it Condoleezza Rice, be it Karl Rove, or any of those in the inner circle, you are going to be held responsible for what takes place in this world, what takes place with this preemptive strike, what takes place with our soldiers and our families...."

It is now time for us, all of us, to speak up in the name of justice. Our laws say we are entitled to impeachment proceedings, and our morality demands it.

Because we were fooled into war with Iraq, there are so many in this country who weep at the mere sight of the empty chair at the dinner table, knowing their loved one will never return to break bread in the sacred fellowship of family.

Indeed, justice is no distraction! There will be no justice without impeachment!

"But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security".

Posted by: Key Stone | June 19, 2008 1:58 AM

Come on folks let's make it happen this time! We know who we are voting for in the fall, don't we? ... we really don't need to rehash the same speeches over and over and over again ... a few updates/debates on current and developing info. will be satisfactory.

We got plenty of time to take care of justice 'American Style' ... our recourse when fed up IS impeachment! Be a proud American and hold your leaders accountable, for their actions ... it really is the patriotic thing to do.

Call, write, fax ... let's hold the current residents in office accountable for the last 71/2 years ... the unnecessary dead, maimed, and poisoned .... billions ... trillions? ...squandered ... our economy in the toilet, and don't forget the actual amount of unemployment ... you know include the ones whose benefits ran out, which is most

.... facing justice, as they should be, before they skedaddle their greedy butts to commuting between Cayman, Switzerland, Argentina and Dubai

It should be pretty obvious now that caring for America, or Americans, has been last on their priority list. The God of Profit has stolen their hearts, as well as their minds. It is so sad ... they are so bloated, and blinded by that bloat, that they owe no allegiance to any nation.

They seem to see themselves on the receiving end of world returns ... using what ever people, the world's harvestable poor, desperate to provide for families, to make 'bells and whistles' for the masses ... anything to keep us striving for more, more, more .... more 'latest this and that' in the coolest latest colors ... huge homes, garages, and storage bins of junk never used, at the very cheapest prices ...

... even children in foreign lands, forced by economics to work at making poisonous toys for our own children ... nothing is out of bounds when personal profit is the highest priority, and sovereignty means nothing. The world itself seen as a grab-bag of resources ... morality does not even enter the picture!

Now is the time to stand up and be counted ... for true liberty, and justice for all!!!

Remember what America is supposed to stand for ... we seriously need to 'walk our talk' while we still have a chance to walk at all!

We have to show that .. us ... the American people, will not stand for our highest leaders to break our own laws and violate our own Constitution, Bill of rights, and the principles that we believe constitute the American Dream.

We haven't always done that in the past, to be sure, but we are supposed to be a growing, vibrant nation ... learning from our own mistakes.

Now ... is truly the time.

Dennis has the courage of King Leonidas to keep the fight going and I love it. Pelosi is just as guilty as this administration and that's why it's "Off the table". Pelosi's own crimes as well as other members of Congress would be exposed by the criminals in office. It's so obvious to me that there is a whole lot of blackmailing going on to discourage an impeachment process. To many people in office except a select few have too much dirt on them to get this done unless they are removed as well. Our government has failed us and you can count on it to keep failing us unless justice is served. The only logical way that I see it happening is for a full blown quiet revolution by the American people. As for the MSM (FOX, CBS, NBC, ABC etc... oh as well as your paid puppets that call themselves reporters) your a disgrace to this nation. Watching your propaganda only insults my intelligence and I'm tired of your insults. The only honest reporting that you do is with sports scores which is something you cannot spin.

It is ironic that the democrats have been given all the ammunition to do something about this out of control president, and they still don't have the balls to do anything about it. The democrats are more interested in not being seen as sore losers, rather than going for real change.

Kucinich is a real hero. We need more people in this country who are NOT asking, "What's in it for me"!

I urge the media to keep the coverage alive on this issue, as it is of the utmost importance to the future of our country.

Bush has not 35 but potentially 60 impeachable infractions that are being proposed. Clinton was impeached for personal matters and not respecting law (perjury). Most of the infractions on the table are specifically regarding Bush disregarding our country's laws.

To Mothership, et al: your comments imply you think Kucinich is naive, that he's 'mr. smith goes to washington' because of his proposal to impeach. Further the attitude expressed in your comments is one of a juvenile authoritarian antagonist who believes all the changes this administration has brought to be good ones. I feel that makes you the child, the naive party, sir or madam. Because the underpinning of our entire civilization is democracy, civil representation and due process of law; not fascism, elitism, or despotism. If the truth is what works, well I ask you to look around to your fellow man and see if America is working.

Finally I want to say that it is possible that the status-quotarians in this country are so delusional that concepts of 'right' and 'wrong' are no longer on a continuum, but on a circle. People have gotten to be so incredibly wrong, that they've gone full circle and now they think they are right.

If the Democrats in Congress continue to push aside impeachment proceedings against Bush and Cheney, I'm strongly considering giving my support to a Third Party-likely Ralph Nader.

As an African American, I have made considerable effort in supporting Sen. Obama. However, if impeachment continues to be "off the table", so will be my support for Mr. Obama.

Many of our nation's Black brothers and sisters are in the prison system for committing far less harm to our society than President Bush and his Neo-Con-men in the White House (who signed the Project for the New American Century manifesto for world domination at all cost).

Yet, to those incarcerated, as well as to the larger public, how do we justify our nation's conduct regarding crime and punishment when the Bush administration has, in effect, usurped our Constitution.

To me, this issue runs much deeper than race. This is about the essence of justice, coming from the heart of democracy, a democracy which we still strive to achieve.

By overriding what recent polls reveal as a huge majority of the nation favoring impeachment, the Democrats in Congress are robbing the American public of a tremendous opportunity to grow in its civic stewardship by learning what really happened to us, and how never to allow it again. They are robbing us of our ability to bring justice to bear against those who perpetrated this monstrous misadventure. And more importantly, these members of Congress are robbing our nation of the opportunity to heal from the devastating impact of this massive tyranny and death.

Indeed, there will be no justice without impeachment!

The future is calling us to the rescue!

Why were the Downing Street memos never investigated further? In February 2001 Dick Cheney's energy task force was scoping over maps of Iraqi fields with oil executives. Why are no questions raised? The Project For A New American Century calls for preemptive strikes. This policy making consortium was assembled in the mid-late 1990's. Somebody or a group of fair-minded investigators needs to see if there are connections to the war in Iraq and this policy consortium. These calvacade of criminals could be the ultimate cause of a million or more deaths. Why were 28 pages of Saudi involvement whited out of a 9/11' commissions report? Aristides departure from Haiti appeared to have some inside work of the Bush administation as well.

Dennis Kucinich is a courageous statesman but he is spinning his wheels because...

We don't need no stinking impeachment!

Because it ain't gonna happen! The Daddy Warbucks of the corporate owned news media sez 'fuggetaboutit' my money sez zip it! Madam Pelosi sez impeachment is 'off the table' because Dubya talked me into going to the Torture Party now I'm sitting toooo close to the fire. It is getting so embarrassing for the wimpy Dems because Conyers and Waxman the House gorillas in charge of the action committees are aggressively beating their chests but doing nothing, afraid of the boss lady. Congressional wheeler dealers from both sides of the aisle are walking a high wire and testing the winds. They have faith that money talks but are prepared to change but not until the rabble start storming the White House. The increasingly vocal underground patriots of the internet keep up the yada, yada, yada, but time is running out and many are tiring of treading water.

But wait, not to worry! Here comes our hero entering stage left in the nick of time with the answer to our dilemma. It's the renowned lawyer who was made famous for putting away Charles Manson for keeps, Vincent Bugliosi. In his new book, The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder, Mr. Bugliosi has presented irrefutable evidence how and why George W. Bush can and will be prosecuted for the murder of over 4000 American soldiers. This is not a pipe dream. Mr. Bugliosi has successfully convicted 22 murderers without a single loss and he swears on his reputation that George W. Bush will be convicted for murder and he will not stop until it happens. Since he is retired and not legally able to indict he is seeking a prosecuting attorney that will represent any one of the murdered victims. A career move as this would have an historical significance for the PA that is willing to accept the job and Mr. Bugliosi promises to assist in any way that he is needed.

Now, like I said, we don't need no stinking impeachment! George Bush is a murderer and we might as well get on with it. To hell with all this yada, yada, yada, let's find a hundred Prosecuting Attorneys to represent 100 of our fallen soldiers. Doing this will cause this nation's boil to erupt in many ways. It will not only stop George Bush but will 'suspend' (thanks Hilliary) any action from his complicit administration. It will stop the Iraq War and prevent one with Iran most agreeably when The Honorable Robert C. Byrd - President Pro Tempore of the Senate is elevated to the Presidency (the not-so Honorable Nancy Pelosi Speaker of the House may not be available). It will start the evacuation of our troops with the blessing of the people of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran (and probably the terrorists too). It will torpedo any hope for McCain to be president. It will eliminate the need for Obama to publically announce a decision to impeach Bush (which he would not). It would provide a clean slate for Obama to do the work of the people. It will cause many in the Republican Party to leave their sinking Titanic for a safer (more profitable?) refuge and would help to demoralize the opposition if there is any left.

Don't be 'low-info' player, you can get The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder from amazon.com

and read it!

Mr. Kucinich is a hero for all Americans, rich or poor, because he is doing what most of us want regarding this unnecessary war in Iraq--to see that justice is served.

You've read my commments above. If you don't like Mr. Kucinich, then at least take a serious look at the work, the research, he has done to see that justice is brought forward.

If you do your own research, you'll find that with the funds we've spent to date in Iraq, we could have refurbished every public school in the nation--yes every. We could have our young in the most beautiful, well equipped, comprehensive in terms of meeting the needs of the students including support activities for their families, smaller class-sizes, and so much more.

You see, most people don't understand the common wealth of this nation. With what we collect in taxes, we should be able to afford the best in education, infrastructure, healthcare, and more.

What we have today within our government, is a intensive system of financial abuses. People pay their taxes yet hardly know where the money is going. You have only to look around to see the substandard quality of our schools, hospitals, elder care facilities, transit systems, etc. Indeed, we are paying for AAA quality, and only getting substandard DDD, or at best a C grade here and there.

The GAO, Government Accountability Office, is a tremendous resource to help us understand what is happening with our common wealth, our taxes, yet most people are unaware of this critical agency. Their website has a database of all their findings--and most of it is deeply disturbing.

Yes, Mr. Kucinich may be off-putting to you, but do you not agree, his research, the facts he presents, his response to civic duty, is nothing short of outstanding?

I've said everything in my comments above, however, I just wanted to respond to your put-down of Mr. Kucinich, and more important, his dedicated work.

Best regards,
Ellison

We should make Kucinich president. He could solve the illegal alien problem, unchecked population growth and global warming by shipping illegal aliens to his home planet.

"...THERE IS NO LONGER ANY DOUBT AS TO WHETHER THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION HAS COMMITTED WAR CRIMES."
--Major General Anthony Taguba

One would think that the recent report from Physicians for Human Rights (PFHR) would be enough to spur impeachment hearings to investigate the allegations. But one would be wrong.

For anyone reading the PFHR report, it's hard not to believe that the issue deserves a hearing and the appropriate place for this to happen is in impeachment hearings. It's a credible and well written report.

Remember the two-star general who led an Army investigation into the horrific detainee abuse at Abu Ghraib? In his 2004 report on Abu Ghraib, then-Major General Anthony Taguba concluded that "numerous incidents of sadistic, blatant, and wanton criminal abuses were inflicted on several detainees." He called the abuse "systemic and illegal."

Well, the Major General has amended his 2004 work in a preface he wrote for the just released PFHR report. The report is based on medical examinations of former detainees and Taguba writes that the report, "tells the largely untold human story of what happened to detainees in our custody when the Commander-in-Chief and those under him authorized a systematic regime of torture. This story is not only written in words: It is scrawled for the rest of these individual's lives on their bodies and minds. Our national honor is stained by the indignity and inhumane treatment these men received from their captors."

"The profiles of these eleven former detainees, none of whom were ever charged with a crime or told why they were detained, are tragic and brutal rebuttals to those who claim that torture is ever justified. Through the experiences of these men in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Guantanamo Bay, we can see the full-scope of the damage this illegal and unsound policy has inflicted -- both on America's institutions and our nation's founding values, which the military, intelligence services, and our justice system are duty-bound to defend."

"In order for these individuals to suffer the wanton cruelty to which they were subjected, a government policy was promulgated to the field whereby the Geneva Conventions and the Uniform Code of Military Justice were disregarded. The UN Convention Against Torture was indiscriminately ignored. . . "

"After years of disclosures by government investigations, media accounts, and reports from human rights organizations, there is no longer any doubt as to whether the current administration has committed war crimes. The only question that remains to be answered is whether those who ordered the use of torture will be held to account."

Sadly, the way it's going, there will be no one held to account. I've never seen a time when so many voters are calling for impeachment hearings for a president, where the congress (both Republican and Democrat) has so totally ignored the electorate. I believe it's symptomatic of a dying democracy. And I believe if we don't change that course in the next presidential election, well, we're toast.

Search the Post to find the details on this report.

I support the impeachment of both President Bush and Vice President Cheney. Both have lied to the American people, shown a disregard for the rule of law and the Constitution, ignored the will of the people, and have expended American lives and treasure in furtherance of their power delusions. All intelligence failures have been the failure of intelligence by the two highest officials of the Executive Branch. The Constitution belongs to We The People, and it is time that We The People assert our rights and responsibilities to protect our Constitution from its domestic enemies.

I wish Denise good luck. There is only one problem.

If you impeach Bush & Cheney you will have to impeach 75 % of the members of the US Congress due to complicity.

The US Congress is the most corrupt political body in the Western Hemisphere.

Chris Dodd is a great example he got good buddy deal with Contrywide Home Loans.

His answer is to pay $10,000 large to Habatat For Humanity and suddenly everything . instead everything will be better. The FBI would tell you to tell them. They shouldhave already been on CNN discusssing Chris Dodds conflict of Interest. They have yet to do anything to anyone in congress except Duke Cunningham has been convicted for anything othert than homosexual acts.

They need to be walking the halls of congress and tapping all of the cell phones of members of congress and their staffs. Instead justice does warrentless taps of taxpayer telephones, and then makes the telecom companies immune from law suits. That is what you have when a nation of law ceases to have viable uniform laws that apply to everyone

We were once a nation of laws. Not anymore that ceased with the election of Bill Clinton then contiued with George W. Bush.

The laws only apply to the taxpayers, not the elected officials and certainly not senior government employees.

You really do not know the half of it.

I've never seen 35 articles of impeachment against a president until last week. I've never heard of any president being accused of the things that this one is in these 35 articles. I reccomend that verybody read this.. I actually read the articles of impeachment against Bush over the past week or so. I've also learned recently that each elected official takes an oath upon entering office to essentially uphold the laws of the land, defend the constituion and also democracy. The impeachment process is defined in the constitution and mentioned at least 7 times. It cleary indicates that should the president be suspected of breaking the law or ignoring the law or putting himself above the law, that the congress SHALL... not should or try to, but SHALL begin the impeachment process. So what are we waiting for. DO YOUR JOB CONGRESS. If he's cleared, he's cleared, but at least you can do your duty. With Clinton, he broke the law and the congress did their job. But we all know the circumstances there. Seems to me he was basically cornered in a personally embarassing situation. Now, again another case where the president is suspected of being unlawful, but this is different. Like I said, Ive never seen a president accused of such a diabolical conspiracy. And the press makes no mention... reports are that the congress has knowingly sent this motion to die.... Makes me wonder if this is a democracy at all and if the constituion is becoming null. All this talk about fixed elections, secret agendas that arent within the framework of the very basis of our country, the Constitution. Kinda scary to see the founding fathers get kicked in the groin like that. I liked their model better. You know, where the people have the voice.

Kucinich said that he'll be back in 30 days with more. After July 4th weekend. You can call him a fool or a freak or whatever... but he's about the only guy with any real balls doing his job in Washington.

If I was allowed and had the money, I would help make the case for impeachment personally. Impeach him already.

Vincent Bugliosi, the renowned attorney who successfully prosecuted 105 of 106 felony jury trials, including twenty-one murder convictions (and Charles Manson) without a single loss believes he should be charged with murder. His latest book is "The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder".

Funny, the Akers piece has no actual info on the indictments themselves and no link to them. Just a general mention and a derisive sneer. Yet the comments here seem to indicate that a lot of people are not content with sweeping this thing completely under the rug. Maybe the Post is afraid that if people actually read the indictments at

http://kucinich.house.gov/News/DocumentSingle.aspx?DocumentID=93581

they might say, "Hey, these don't sound like they were written by a kook." Creating a secret propaganda campaign, illegal detention, secretly authorizing rendition and torture, providing immunity from prosecution, reckless misspending, creating secret laws, obstructing and subverting justice, spying on American citizens, failing to comply with legal subpoenas, failing to plan, failure to respond. Sounds like good reasons to consider removing someone from office. Hey Akers, wipe that snide smile off your face.

Akers' concludes with a baseball analogy that is too dopey even for a corporate shill. Kucinich is a hero. In a recent MSNBC poll every registered voter in the US except Lynn Cheney said they would like to see Bush's head on a stick. And she had to lie because she's married to a Di*K.

May we see democracy restored in the United States.

"It is not enough for a people to gain its liberty. It must secure it. It must not intrust it to the keeping, or hold it at the pleasure, of any one man. The Keystone of the Royal Arch of the great Temple of Liberty is a fundamental law, charter, or Constitution; the expression of the fixed habits of thought of the people, embodied in a written instrument, or the result of the slow accretions and the consolidation of centuries; the same in war as in peace; that cannot be hastily changed, nor be violated with impunity, but is sacred, like the Ark of the Covenant of God, which none could touch and live".

Posted by: Keystone | June 20, 2008 12:18 AM

Dan,

Your advocating violence makes you just as criminal as they are. We already have anarchy in this country. We don't need any more.

The Constitution is very specific about the legal course of action we may take when our representatives no longer uphold, support and defend the Constitution.

WE THE PEOPLE are the true sovereignty in this country, not our representatives who just work for us.

WE THE PEOPLE have the right to peaceably assemble wherever, whenever and for as long as we like. That means we can completely surround all the federal buildings and offices in Washington, D.C. and the rest of the country as well, and stay there as long as we want.

WE THE PEOPLE also have the right to have our employees address our grievances. That means we can fire whoever we want whenever we want. We don't need permission from Congress, the Supreme Court or from anyone within the Executive Branch including the President.

Wake up WE THE PEOPLE!

Feel the power!

Has it not been spoken before? Can a lamb be sacrificed unto my father and not be rejected by it's immpurity. Regardless of it's intent. Take heed that ye not be decieved by this world, and it's arrogance. Religion in this present age is become blasphemy, and a shame against my teachings. Love and truth, is all that is worthy of my covenant. All else is failure and debase. The sun shines on the righteous and the non. Be ye not decieved by those in darkness, only love them, into the light that they may find life. Love do'es not mean they do not recieve rebuke, and consequences, but understanding, and salvation to make their wrongs right. Who will be appointed the final judge over their souls? Man, or God. You see it is inconsequential they are "punished" herein, and "made to pay" for their leadership choices. They will not escape their deeds. Never ever.

"And [there] is Kucinich's impeachment fantasy:
Sure, that's likely. As soon as the Nationals win the pennant."

Ms. Akers, I too have an unrealized fantasy: that the Washington Post would report, compile, keep track of, and publish running lists of all the BILLIONS and BILLIONS of taxpayer dollar the Bush administration squanders on corrupt contracts and "missing" allocations, from "Viceroy" L. Paul Bremer's $90 billion "MISSING" in first weeks of US occupation of Iraq, to the story of th Dept. of Army auditor _fired_ for having the temerity to question $1.5 billion in KBR bills this week.
Cleary, your bosses at the WP see it as their job to whitewash administration corruption, so it is "FANTASY" to hope the Post will ever act as an honest journalism institution.

Dear readers,
We are seeing overwhelming popular support for Kucinich's position and a media iron curtain preventing its exposure. We are deep in the throws of a catch 22- the media will only support the candidates that further corporate rule, the politicians reliant on the media and corporate wealth will only obey those masters.
The people have no way to communicate en masse, ( the internet is shortly to be truncated by these same powers) - These powers will hold onto the two party system with their lives, for through it they may continue to divide and fool us.
I don't know how, but the people deserve a people's union, independent of DC and with the strength of numbers we rise above the divisions artificially pegged by the corporate empires.
You want the WE the people to restore democracy, then we have to solidify the fourth branch, organized to represent our human needs and to stand for rights that are obvious. Such as the right to maintain happiness ( rather then pursue it )---Later more, I gotta run-McClellan is testifying right now.
Bugliosi, Kucinich the American people are tops.

Rep. Kucinich's Articles of Impeachment of President George W. Bush is an historic document and should be read and considered by all Americans.

In his conduct while President of the United States, George W. Bush, in violation of his constitutional oath to faithfully execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty under Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution "to take care that the laws be faithfully executed,..."

Read the 35 Articles of impeachment at http://kucinich.house.gov/News/DocumentSingle.aspx?DocumentID=93581

has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as President and Commander in Chief, and subversive of constitutional government, to the prejudice of the cause of law and justice and to the manifest injury of the people of the United States. Wherefore, President George W. Bush, by such conduct, is guilty of an impeachable offense warranting removal from office.

There is a good reason why people snicker when kucinich is in a room because he is weird. Not in a panties on the head pickle counting way but in the wow the man has no clue that that stuff is not tofu he is eating way. He is a prime example of politics as theater.

The man believes in UFOs. You cannot get around that it seriously detracts from my personal take seriously reservoir. Also I read the articles of impeachment. The are so vague and out of touch with actual reality that the are very good reasons to apply for a Medical Marijuana permit. I feel strongly that I need a prescription for medical marijuana if I am to accept these articles as a good reason to unseat a President.

In fact I think that he should just propose one of those giant smoke ins like out in Colorado and then say that President Bush has some really good Medical Marijuana that he is hoarding and then point in the general direction of Dick Cheney and watch as the stumbling throng of Chronic sufferers overwhelms the guards stealing their donuts and then takes over the whole government of our Nation. Our laws would be so much better with the Aliens in charge and we would be so much better off with all the great hemp products like hemp milk and hemp gasoline and hemp reality.

Kucinich is a man of the people the little people who crawl under my door and steal my underwear.

Yeah the people of Cincinnati elect him but why not I would vote for him to he is certainly more entertaining than my rep Rep Clyburn. All he does is employ his sisters and friends at the earmarks he gives us. Also he has a bridge that gets the environmentalists upset so we learn more about the environment.. I would vote for Kusinch if I could I would seriously I am not smoking Medical Marijuana either I am not a chronic sufferer.

Or maybe you'd think he'd be one of the cool kids if you thought you could have a beer at a BBQ with him. I guess that's your way of picking good leadership. Maybe that's your idea of oversight.

I'm sorry you snarky children, I don't think it's funny when my family members' votes were played with in Ohio. I don't find it funny when my friends get sent off to unnecessary wars. Let us see you maintain your snarky demeanor in an unarmored Humvee driving round Sadr City. Yuk, yuk, yuk, eh?

Maybe if Kucinich was some tall hunky football guy, maybe you'd go toetapping with him in the stalls then and think he was a cool dude.

In other words, if you don't want to be an mature about this, screw off. Funny no one actual refutes what Kucinich putting forward (must be because this WaPo "blogger" refuses to link to the Article of Impeachment, so I understand.)

They are more concerned with protecting their jobs than protecting the Constitution and the freedom that so many have fought and died for. It doesn't matter whether impeachment succeeds or fails or is too late or takes too much time and energy. What matters is that Congress stand up and officially declare to future administrations of whatever party (and incidentally to the country and to the world) that such abuses of our system will not be tolerated. If they fail to act, Congress and our system will have become the hollow shams they now appear to be.

Elevating Dennis Kucinich to hero status for his courage and determination in his attempts restore checks and balances to this government is testament to how low it has sunk. That his is the lone voice calling for a restoration of shared powers among the three branches is a travesty. He is only doing his job, but with that said he deserves all the support that we as citizens can give him.

4000+ citizens have returned dead, tens of thousands maimed, their futures altered for the worse. And what about the Iraqis, the countless innocent dead? And for what?

What have we as citizens had to gain from all this war-mongering? Who is our enemy? Despite the media's reduced coverage of the war, it remains the most important issue of current affairs, our Vietnam.

This executive branch, whose members have never experienced war, has done grave injury to this country and its laws by relentlessly and repeatedly sending our young citizens in harm's way under false pretenses. If they are to fight, let them fight knowing why they must do so, instead of the jingoism and flag-waving that ultimately is an insult to them and their service.

35 articles is just the tip of the iceberg, and not holding it accountable for any will relegate us to be the smallest and least patriotic generation in this nation's history.

Too much has been shrugged off among our American population as "business as usual!" Dennis Kucinich is the only one of our elected officials who has the guts to make this administration accountable. Our senators and congressmen, please take note!

Two flags to Kucinich for giving American citizens a bit of hope for a political figure with ethics!

I can only further encourage other American citizens to continue to submit your impeachment requests to John Conyers at his website. WE THE PEOPLE need to speak up and be heard. It is our inalienable right to speak freely and express our happiness or outrage with our elected officials.

If we just sit back and blog and say who cares or why try, we are just promoting the status quo. With our silence, we are ACCEPTING the blatant misuses of power and total disregard for the safety and welfare of OUR COUNTRY, OUR LIVES, OUR FUTURE, and OUR CHILDREN'S FUTURE.

SPEAK UP AND BE HEARD IF YOU CARE ABOUT THIS COUNTRY.

Do you want to continuously perpetuate the constant abuses of power? Do you want our Constitution, and our rights as citizens to be trampled upon by overzealous politicians?

It doesn't matter that Bush/Cheney are in their waning days of office.. ITS TIME FOR THE AMERICAN CITIZENS TO SPEAK UP AS A COLLECTIVE AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE..
LET OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS KNOW WE ARE NOT PLEASED WITH THE JOBS THEY ARE DOING...

And maybe they will think twice before they abuse any further powers WE elected to give them.

Are you happy with the status quo?

I wish Vincent Bugliosi, the author of The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder, well. I am actually shocked the cowardly Washington Post, advocates of the Iraq War and beyond, even allow discussion of Bugliosi's book. Even in the unread vaults of their website.
Bush is not done murdering yet. Iran is his next target. He and Laura will have a fabulous time bombing Iranians and declaring martial law in the United States. Where is Charlie Chaplin when you need him?

It's amazing the amount of support this article is receiving. To what end do you hope to achieve? Do you believe that pursuing impeachment in any way will help our country? The time for impeachment has passed, we need to focus our attention somewhere that can truly make a difference.

I don't understand how you can support a crusade. You praise him for striking out and having the fortitude and prowess to stick to his guns. This is one man with a personal vow against Bush. His whole purpose in Congress is to represent his district. Unless the majority of his voters are pushing for impeachment he is abusing his position for a personal vendetta. Kucinich needs to put his focus back on Ohio and the problems at hand.

Accepted Jews support and Betrayed his 20 Years Pastor and Trinidad Christian Church (Jews, a special interest group, less than 1% population controlling 90% wealth via 200 years bribing, cheating and murdering in USA)

Rejected to impeach GW Bush on overwhelming evidences

Promised but rejected public funding in General Election

Looking down upon small donors by saying "no need direct contact with small $15 donors" but just these various small donors who donated $256M to him and helped him locked DEMs nomi9nation

Promised but rejected anti-wiretap Bill

Using campaign Seal that looks like President Seal shows his Arrogant and Power Thirsty

Promised but failed to block ENRON Loophole that leads to soaring OIL Price $142/br from $70 two months ago

Rejected offshore drilling to increase supply in the near term future (3 years)

Doesn't spend time in handling emergency Housing Rescue Bill in Senate. Even after GW Bush urges him and Dems to work over Holiday but still go ahead to recess instead of working for American People.
