Freshman GOP Rep. Heller's Anti-GOP Rhetoric Stirs Reaction
Freshman Rep. Dean Heller's (R-Nev.) unusually frank comments about his own party needing to "clean house" -- starting with members of the historic class of 1994 -- are rubbing his GOP colleagues the wrong way. And predictably, members of the famous revolution class that ended a 40-year Democratic reign in the House are especially peeved.
Heller's offense was telling the Las Vegas Review Journal, "I'm of the position that we really need to clean house in this Republican Party, and I think the next couple of election cycles are going to do that." Taking special aim at the '94 GOP freshman class, Heller said, "It's an old mantra: they came to change Washington, and Washington changed them."
Considering that Heller sounded as if he were reading straight from House Democratic talking points, his GOP colleagues from the 1994 freshman class were not impressed with Heller's notion of tough love. Especially Rep. Zach Wamp (R-Tenn.), who is the only member of the '94 class who actually contributed money -- a nice $2,000 donation -- to Heller's reelection campaign this year.
"The people of Tennessee are glad that what is said in Nevada stays in Nevada," Wamp told the Sleuth.
Another member of the 1994 GOP freshman class, Rep. Steve LaTourette (R-Ohio), displaying his usual acid-tongued wit, said the Nevada freshman's comments "make me think they might have started storing radioactive waste in Yucca Mountain or had an escape from Area 51. The fact is, the Class of '94 created the longest serving Republican majority in recent history, and we didn't lose it until Dean showed up."
Ouch! (Now that's taking the "love" out of tough love. Though LaTourette, who is known for his biting humor, insisted he was only joking.)
Rep. Phil English (R-Pa.), another proud card-carrying member of the 1994 class who is facing a tougher-than-usual reelection race in this the Year of the Democrat, took pity on Heller and sought to educate the freshman on the differences between agents of reform -- a.k.a. the 1994 freshman class -- and agents of change.
"People forget that the insurgent GOP class of 1994 reformed welfare, cut taxes and moved the center of gravity in American politics right," English said. "Reform advocates should be weary that a 'change election' could empower big government advocates to embrace a radical program that will have lasting fallout.
Good luck with that spin, Congressman English.

It is a shame that these republican's are so blind that they can't see or remember the corruption and evil ways of the GOP party for the last decade and more. And then when the GOP took both the Congress and the WH... it was nearly a daily drill of reading corruption in their party. I am not a Democrat either and they have their share of evil and corruption... but it is not going to go away until these creeps quite the propaganda crusade and quit brain washing their voters... Until we have a REAL news media... nothing will change. We need a real revolution! Whether it is a peaceful or take-up-arms... something better happen soon... or we are going to be nothing but a MexAmerica or some other rotten 3rd world torn apart country! When are you reporters going to start seeing the light? When the bullets are flying and bombs are bursting?

Rep. Heller has provided another example of the classic Washington gaffe - telling the truth. He'll pay dearly for this.

Heller is right. The Gop got in office and they let the power take over. They thought they were God.They bankrupt the economy with all of the theft, they lied, they raped the constitution, and they put someone like W in office who didn't know his head from a hole in the ground. How long did they think they would get away with it.Now they are trying to pawn John Mcsame on the American people.Hey when people get enough of that type of being messed on they get tired. GOP it is over.

A message for Rep. Heller, if you don't agree with a majority of your own party, then run as a democrat. As a candidate, did you run so you could clean house or did you run to represent your republican constituency?

Rep Tourette said it all. He ignores a war, millions losing their homes, 100,000 people from New Orleans relocated, over 55% of corporate american's profits are now overseas(we can't afford our own products), we have the largest death rate of the 19 industrialized nations from curable diseases and pay the most in the world by at least 50% and that's just the first page of what this once great nation has gotten after the so-called Republican revolution. With all this happening all Rep. Tourette cares about is that republicans were able to control the House
he doesn't care what they have done his big complaint with Heller was how could you complain about us, we are in charge(sad isn't it).

"A message for Rep. Heller, if you don't agree with a majority of your own party, then run as a democrat. As a candidate, did you run so you could clean house or did you run to represent your republican constituency?"
And herein lies a large part of our problems..............
One would hope Rep. Heller ran to faithfully represent the good interests of AMERICA and to uphold our Constitution, NOT just the Republicans in his district! Good grief! Haven't we had enough of this America for Republicans crap?

It's a pity when a man shows "integrity", and is pounced on by his own party. This is what's wrong with our country. Lies, manipulation, and labeling Americans "unpatriotic" for speaking out against the "illegal" invasion of Iraq. I do remember a time, before Republicans decided less government is better government, that we were secure in our consumer goods, healthcare, and especially disaster relief. Not to mention far greater "accountability" to those who contract work from the Federal Government. We used to joke about $600.00 hammers, but at least we had the hammer. Now, no one minds the store, nor cares if qualifications are met, "fraudulent" billing, and "cronyism" is rampant. Thank you Republicans for a fine job in showing this country just how "corrupt" a once fairly productive government can become.

Zach Wamp. A great example of the haughty, hyperpartisan Republican with very limited capabilities that we have all come to know. We in TN are blessed to have such "forward thinkers" pushing policy.

When you know something in your heart, you better not be quiet about it. You better speak out about it.

Hmmm...the class of '94. That was the year the repubs talked a lot about limiting their terms, wasn't it? You mean there are lingerers...or should I say mallingerers?

Did some one say Newt Gingrich and 1994?
Everyone knows he was only a minor Republican Prophet. (trickle down theorist Former President Ronald Reagan is still considered "The One True Prophet of the Republican Party" even still to this day in the 2008th Year of America's Jesus) but not mine however.
http;//www.whitehouse.org
That was the year that was.
Is 2009 starting to seem just like 1993 all over again?
I broke my own Crayola brand red crayon way back in 1957 and I put that back together the same year "opened reversed closed"
The Republicans can't even put a government back together again.
So congratulations to the Democrats.
Yo may not even be as smart as they are because you think you have this election wrapped up.

There is NO CRUDE OIL SHORTAGE!
There is no Natural Gas Shortage!
Congress is NOT ALLOWING drilling in the USA.
WHY? Because they are in the pockets of BIG OIL.
If Congress were to allow drilling today, in 6 months to a year wells would be producing oil in the USA. These wells could produce some 6000 barrels per day. IT IS CONGRESS that is keeping the GAS prices high, and it is CONGRESS that may cost the lives of Americans that CAN NOT afford to heat their homes this WINTER.
Congress will be responsible for the deaths of Americans for their IN ACTION.
November is coming, so BOOT THEM ALL OUT!

Good for Heller. In a few words he said what many of us Republicans feel. Throw the bums out and get new blood.

I yield to none as an opponant of the GOP in its current guise and of so-called "conservatives" read--RADICALS ! ( Particularly the religious kind) which as a moderate with an environmentalist and a social libertarian I loathe.
Should Mc Same get in, ( Ugh ! ) I advocate a revolution in the USA armed or not. Though I do prefer the latter. For me, I think Mr. Dean Heller is a brave man for speaking out and he should continue by switching parties. Finally for me, since I love my country I'm working for Mr. Obama !
