Maryland has announced its freshman class.
Here are the players, with some comments:
*Forward Billy Cortes, Mission Viejo, Calif. -- same club team as Maurice Edu, Sasho expects "immediate impact"
*Defender Sean Flatley, Virginia Beach -- left-footed central back, reminds Sasho of Kenney Bertz
*Goalkeeper Thorne Holder, Trinidad & Tobago -- u20 and u23 member, groomed by legendary Lincoln Phillips
*Midfielder Yannick Salmon, Westbury, N.Y. -- Jamaica under-17 national team
*Goalkeeper Will Swaim, Ellicott City, Md. -- first-team all-Howard County, second-team all-state
*Midfielder Rodney Wallace, Rockville, Md. (Bullis) -- Washington Post All-Met player of year last fall

not too relevant to this post, but they had a great documentary on HBO tonight about the women's national team, from 2005. hadn't seen it before, but check it out, as i imagine they'll re-broadcast.
