Have a Slow Day
Greetings from DFW Airport, getting ready to head home after a few days of NCAA hoops in Dallas.
I was actually pulling for the GW women to upset North Carolina on Sunday night, purely for selfish reasons. If the Colonials had advanced, they would have played again Tuesday night. Which, to the best of my knowledge, is pretty close to Wednesday night. Which is kickoff time for the U.S. national team's next match, vs. Guatemala just up the road in Frisco. Well, it became pretty clear after 10 minutes or so of the G-dub game that my stay in Big D was going to come to an end. So I'm heading home. (Too much money to stick around another three days for a friendly.)
If there's any USA/DCU news while I'm in flight, I'll pass it along later today or this evening. Otherwise, I'll check back with y'all Tuesday.

Joe Doc- You are not alone in needing an intervention. Work's Internet has been down all morning and I think I was going thru Soccer Insider withdrawl. Happy now that I have my fix.

Steve, I noticed that the team roster page on the DC United website was updated over the weekend. Numbers and contract status are now listed, but no Kpene. Is this just a mistake, or did he not get a contract after all?

I hit "b" in my address bar to see DCU's BigSoccer, Goff's Soccer Insider, and the DC SportsBog. It seems like so long ago that it was the Sports Bog that was the second link displayed when I hit "b".

None of you have the Soccer Insider as your home page?

How many times has everyone checked the website today? I've checked it at least 10 times.

Steven, is there any definitive word or ruling from CONCACAF about the card accumulation issue in the Champions Cup? I know it had been mentioned previously that the DCU staff was confident that two cards at any time during the competition causes a one-game suspension but here in Houston I haven't seen anything definitive as Houston has 8 guys carrying one card into the 2nd leg.

Are players from our youth teams eligible to play in reserve games and senior games?

Steven-
Any word on when the US-Ecu box score will be printed on page E9 in Monday's Post?
I'm still looking at it and it's not there, yet.
Thx,
Jay!

Youth players are not available for regular games, but I suppose they could be registered in advance as a guest player for reserve matches. In reality, I doubt you will see a largely unknown 15/16 year old local prospect appearing in an MLS-sanctioned game anytime soon, but who knows.
Yes, i noticed the box score missing from the Monday paper too. (sigh) It was in my home delivery edition today. Speaking of which, I have suggested to the editors that we begin running the DCU summary and the MLS standings as part of our game coverage this season. We do it with the ridiculous local hockey team, why not the soccer team? Let's see if it happens...

I get to the office, hit the space bar on the keyboard, go straight to Netscape, click on Favorites, and there it is... Soccer Insider. I'm happy...
I think I need an intervention.
