Sweet Strike
This is a few weeks old and I've been meaning to post it -- James McFadden's last-minute stunner for Everton against Charlton. Much different from Messi's mazy run from midfield for Barcelona a while back, but in its own way, perhaps equally impressive? I'll stick with Messi's goal as the best in a long time, but this one is mighty nice. Take a look and tell me what you think:

Actually, it was the Zidane v. Leverkusen goal I was thinking of. Sorry for the wrong superstar Zidane

Terrific strike on the full self-volley. Great topspin.

McFadden's was my favorite goal from the premiership this season, followed by Essien's blast against Arsenal.

Strike was great. Not 100% sure first touch was intentional (regardless much credit for it working).

What about Matty Taylor's goal against Everton and our own number one GK Tim Howard

McFadden's strike is nice, but it's not any sweeter than what Christian Gomez did against LA in Week 11 of 2006.

I saw it real time (on TV) and have no doubt that McFadden's first touch was intentional. Beautiful.

Yeah the first touch was definitely deliberate and brilliant. The way he fakes the shot and pops the ball right over the guys shoulder and then a perfect strike. One of the best in EPL this season for sure.

Nice goal, but nowhere near Messi's.

I actually saw it live, but didn't remember it that well apparently. Looking again it does look intentional. Very nice but IMO not in the same league as Messi's goal and several others. Good goal of the week.

For me, that looks much more difficult than Messi's goal.

I too saw that one live and about fell off the couch. Completely deliberate and genius.
It wasn't a solo effort, but did anyone see Freddy Kanoute's goal in the Sevilla match last Saturday? One of the best displays of team goalscoring I've seen in a long, long time. Check it out if you can find it.

I was being lazy before. Here's Kanoute's strike.

This goal is why I have maintained that McFadden is one of the most underrated strikers in the EPL. Just sublime.

While it came against Villarreal, a team I live and die by, this goal by Ronaldinho is the best goal of this past season.

I think Thomas Hitzlesperger's goal for Stuttgart against Cottbus was equal if not better. Straight volley off a corner kick.

Drogba vs Everton

Cheers to Goff for giving Everton some shine. David Moyes has been doing more with less since he came to the club, if they can keep Mikel Arteta and their young strikers, they can build something special.
That being said, I think Matty Taylor's half-field goal against Everton was the season's best.

Class goal. Class team. Class blog.
Good to see Liverpool's real team getting some pub on here :). From a closet AU Eagle and Toffee.

That looks like a Van Basten goal. Incredible first touch, and the second one wasn't bad either.
