Adu Scores Twice (Fro, Not Freddy)
In his collegiate debut, George Mason's Fro Adu, younger brother of Benfica's Freddy, scored twice during the Patriots' 3-0 victory over Howard on the opening night of the D.C. College Cup in Fairfax.
In the Indiana tournament, Maryland earned a 1-1 tie with the Hoosiers, while Notre Dame defeated UCLA, 2-1, in overtime after the Bruins had drawn even with 38 seconds left in regulation.

Isn't Fro a defender, too?

Fro is a defender, but he appeared to be moved to defensive midfield in the second half. Howard didn't view him as an offensive threat (why would've they?) and gave him too much room. Even so, Fro took both shots well and had excellent opening match overall.
Go Patriots! :)

"I still think he's a crap player."
-----
That's your judgement on a 16-year-old kid who has played exactly one game in college and who you've seen play, what, three or four times in high school or club?
It's not like he's been built up to be a superstar -- just the younger brother of a famous player competing at a mid-level college program who may or may not be good enough for the next level.
Man, rough crowd.

Well, someone argued in a recent thread that 16 year olds in Europe are subject to criticism, and so should it be in the US. As I recall, there was a bit of agreement on that.
I haven't seen the boy play, but 2 goals from D-mid should make his coach happy.

goffer- i played against him when he was at prep. i was never impressed; i thought he was immature (even for being a younger fellow), physically weak, and very average on the ball. irregardless of his relation to freddy, i just think he is a mediocre player. i say that as someone who shared the field with him, not a spectator.

that said, i'm interested to see him prove me wrong in the next couple years. maybe he's grown a pair.

Gotcha. Thanks for responding.
We'll see how he does.

Longfellow, that "crap player" scored two goals from DM in his D1 college debut as a 16-year old freshman. How was your day on the pitch yesterday?
You know, there are other fora where you can go to crap anonymously on other amateur youth players.

Fro Adu, Boy Genius!
Pretty good for a 16-year-old (since May) to score twice in his college debut. They play again tomorrow as part of this tournament.
