Just a Quick Update
The latest name to surface as a candidate to run the U.S. under-17 program in Bradenton is Wilmer Cabrera, the former Colombian international who has been coaching in the New York area and was hired by MLS earlier this year to a developmental role.

That Hollier rumor sure lost steam quick.

There just so happens to be two of the most successful alumni of the famed Tahuichi academy in the local area. They probably know a thing or two about such an endeavour. Why not see if El Diablo wants the job?

Goff's comment in an earlier thread may be germane:
"You know how Red Sox fans say 'Manny being Manny' about Manny Ramirez?
"The same could be said about Marco Antonio Etcheverry. I don't see him running a development program of any kind."

I hear that Hristo Stoichkov is looking for a job.

Is that some kind of joke about Etcheverry? Not running a development program? He ran a successful academy here and in Bolivia. His eye for talent and the game is unquestioned. It's all moot anyway, he has his eye on bigger things than the U-17's

Yeah, I wanted to ask Goff what exactly he meant by that comment the other day. I don't understand the Manny Ramirez angle since I do not follow or care for baseball. It sounded like a dig to me, but, again, not understanding the Manny being Manny thing might hinder... Goff, plis 'splain jurself...

Marco is not head coaching material. In time, maybe he will change, but he's a unique individual who lives in his own unique universe. Thus, the Manny-Being-Manny analogy.
That said, Cabrera appears set to get the U17 job.
