Morning Kickaround
My exclusive news yesterday that Freddy Adu was leaving Wasserman Media Group for a new agency reminded me of our favorite agent, Ari Gold, and one of the greatest scenes ever from "Entourage." The language in this video is for mature audiences only, but here's the cleaner classic line:
"I have work to do. I have hundreds of clients to deal with and, just so we are clear, I don't care about any of them. They are alllllll just a number, like wife number one and therapist number seven. Good day!"
With Romario (retirement) and Ronaldinho (move?) in the news, I thought you would like this head-to-head video:
For something completely different and obscure, how about video from Steaua Bucharest's 4-0 victory over U Cluj:
*Remember the Roberto Mina saga during the offseason? It continues, sort of. Turns out, San Jose was quite interested, but from what I hear, Dallas wanted major compensation for his MLS rights, perhaps a designated player slot. Mina agreed to a deal with Gimnasia Jujy in Argentina, but backed out because of the club's financial problems. He is now expected to sign elsewhere in Argentina this summer.

Can DC pursue Sheva for our DP slot? I think he will do well. Service from Gallardo to Sheva, we will crash every single MLS team. Perhaps DC can ask him to come over and be part of a historic team make over and not think about the money. I guess dream on....

Ari Gold: We are gonna get drunk with Russell Crowe and we're gonna head-butt some goddamn kangaroos.

Today's poll:
For your men's outdoor or indoor team, which player (in his prime) would you want: Ronaldinho or Romario.

If we are to get Shevchenko, we absolutely must reacquire Kovalenko so that I hope for the following calls:
"Kovalenko steals the ball. Plays it wide to Dyachenko. He crosses to Shevchenko. IT'S A GOAL-ENKO."
Dema-Rod-Sheva: The Trienko
Poll: Romario, because I'm a cheap owner and the players don't have a dental plan.
Hug it out.

George and Eric - two of the old guys mentioned a few threads ago - with an important message for today.

"... be thankful I don't take it all."
Now THERE'S a DNC talking point for you.

I would take Romario. He just knows how to put the ball in the net.

Mina is not even close to having DP-level trade value, especially in light of the fact that it has taken a MVP-caliber player (Gomez to Rapids, Guevara [even though he did not deserve the MVP over Moreno] to Chivas) to get a DP spot in a trade.

Is he worth a DP Slot...NO. But he is young and was playing well until he got hurt (ACL, I believe). In my opinion would be better than Doe up top. Too bad Dallas wanted too much from San Jose.

Speaking of sports agents anyone remember Arlis Michaels?

I was fortunate to see Pele against the Dips when I was a kid, but IMHO Romario was the greatest! He put that 1994 Brasil team on his back and carried them to the championship. And for his size he was quite dangerous in the air! More recently I got to see him for a few games at Miami FC and he was still dangerous going to the goal. He still could squeeze out a few more years I think. I was hoping he would stick around just long enough to play for Flamengo again!

Goff, as long as you're covering players who have disapeared from MLS, whatever happened to Kyle Martino?

Galaxy waived him in early March to clear cap room -- presumably they still own his rights, but he's without a team.
However, if you believe MLS.com, he's still on the Galaxy roster... Doh!

Every Galaxy players suck, except Beckham and Donovan. They are just horrible. No ball skill, no finishing capabilities. Unbeleiveable.

Is Mina valuable for DP slot? I have no idea who he is.
