Mother? Not Mother?
On this Mother's Day evening, let's start with the women......
*The Washington Freedom opened defense of its W-League title with a 3-1 victory at Long Island.
*Player ratings from the USA's 6-0 romp over Canada on Saturday at RFK: Solo 6; Chalupny 7, Rampone 7, Markgraf 7, Mitts 8; O'Reilly 6, Boxx 7, Lloyd 8, Tarpley 7; Kai 9, Wambach 7. Subs: Osborne 7, Rodriguez 6, Hucles 6.
As for the guys.....
*Former Howard University coach Keith Tucker, who had been guiding Bermuda for several months, left the national team and was replaced by an assistant with D.C. connections, Kenny Thompson. The move comes just a month before a World Cup second-round qualifying series against T&T. Thompson did graduate work at Howard and played for a D.C. amateur club. The status of Bermuda assistant Keith Tabatznik, the former Georgetown coach, remains unclear.
*The English Premiership came to a dramatic close today with Manchester United clinching the title on the strength of a 2-0 victory at Wigan, Fulham completing its heroic finish by winning at Portsmouth, 1-0, to stay up, and Reading going down despite a 4-0 victory at relegated Derby.
*ESPN/ABC has finalized coverage plans for the European Championship. All 31 matches will be shown live -- 7 on ESPN, 17 on ESPN2, 5 on ESPN Classic and two, including the June 29 final in Vienna, on ABC. High definition is available for all games except ESPN Classic. Coverage of the final will be preceded on ABC by Beckham and the Galaxy against D.C. United at RFK. For the complete schedule, click here.

FulhAmerica lives! Methinks they'll bring back Captain Mac. And maybe Keller in goal? Probably not, though....Dempsey and Johnson, already in the mix -- good chance for the Yanks to learn how to score. Hoorah! Bummer for Hanneman. I like him.
In advance of hte God, Bad and the Ugly -- I'd like to point out that each of the losing MLS teams each scored at least once, and also created other good scoring chances. Seriously -- how bad is United, right now?

Pretty bad, are we better than Houston?
maybe the boys will grind out some road wins.
Wish they'd give Jose a chance in goal again.
Next week would be a nice opportunity on the grass in LA right?
Someone said something about Doe being a better option than Niell a few threads back and I thought the same thing the first time I saw him.
Hard Times...

A-Rod deserves higher than a 6 after that last goal. She played it like the game had just started.

The link to Possession Game is not working, maybe it's just me, but I've tried clickin' on it and I get a blank screen.

Freedom should do line-ups in their press releases.

Goff - there is a lot of talk about who on DCU will play with passion and "love of the shirt" w/o Olsen, Gros, Esky, and Gomez. You definitely bring passion and "love of the blog" each and every week, and we appreciate you for it. Looking forward to the Good, Bad, and Coyote Ugly as always.
