Build-A-Story: Will you cut back on Xmas spending?
The holiday shopping season is upon us. Over the past year, I’ve reported about the steady rise in the unemployment rate and the steady decline in consumer confidence. Even though experts say the economy is rebounding, it’s pretty clear this will be another dismal holiday season for retailers.
I’m planning to write a story about consumer behavior this holiday season. I’d love to hear from readers about your spending plans for your holiday shopping this year. Many consumers have said they’re buying fewer gifts, spending less money, using cash instead of credit cards and are starting their shopping later this year than they did last year. Or perhaps you've decided not to cut back--we want to hear from you too as we try to get a handle on how holiday shopping will shape up this month. I’m also interested in getting readers’ thoughts on how the deals this year compare with the ones you saw last year.
If you’re interested in talking with me or are open to having me follow you around as you shop, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or 202-334-5107.
