Pick of the Day: Thinking of summer
Crocuses, then daffodils, then tulips. Soon the cherry blossoms will float over Washington, like so many low pink clouds. All this has erased that long winter (was the blizzard but a dream?), and focused my gaze forward. I'm thinking about what's to come: the long, slow days of summer, barbeque and beer and ballgames. Cotton candy, carnival rides and the state fair, which is captured so well in a lovely piece in National Geographic by Garrison Keillor.
