Story pick: 'The time I crash-landed'

Not long after we learned that a Washington Post reporter had just survived a plane crash at Reagan National, that colleague, Ashley Halsey III, showed up in the newsroom. "I wasn't even going to write anything," he said flatly about the ill-fated flight he'd taken Tuesday on a World War II biplane. "But I guess I have to now."

While we watched his video of the crash-landing with awe (how did he not completely freak out and scream? how did he not drop the video camera that he'd just purchased the day before? why is he in the office right now?!), Ashley (Crashley?) set about writing a first-person account of the episode.

Let's just say that he stuck this particular landing.
