Bonus pick: Surviving an even bigger quake
Okay, so that wasn't quite the Big One that shook the Washington area awake this morning (I rolled over and asked my wife to put two more quarters in the Vibro-Bed). But it sure does have us talking about earthquakes.
Want to read about some temblors that were a bit more violent? Here's a collection of personal tales from the big Loma Prieta quake in the San Franciscoo region in 1989 (the World Series Earthquake). The anecdotes compiled by the Bay Area Earthquake Alliance vary in degree of hair-raising-ness, but their totality is certainly enough to give you the shivers. As we in this area understand in a new way this morning, nothing is odder than when the earth moves.
