Pick of the day: For and about Washington
Good paper today, especially for August. Classic Washington Post: We've got the Senate confirming a Supreme Court Justice; tensions with the Karzai government and a lobbyist charged with making shady campaign contributions.
And yet the story that really caught my attention was the one about the photos. You know: the iconic shots of the Washington Monument and the Capitol and the Jefferson Memorial that adorn so many office walls. Turns out they're all shot by the same guy--the "king of patriotic office art," as Monica Hesse explains in a great piece this morning that wins the day.
