Did Obama "lie" about Ayers?

The McCain campaign claims that Barack Obama "lied" about his relationship with the former Weather Underground leader Bill Ayers. It would be more accurate to say that he "told the truth slowly." ( 4:48 PM ET) | More »

Giuliani's Web Site Gets Labor Day Off

Since Saturday, a visitor to Hizzoner's Web site has been greeted with: "JoinRudy2008.com is down temporarily and will be live again soon with an improved look."

The campaign took the site down over the week, said spokeswoman Maria Comella. The new site will launch Tuesday morning with some new features, campaign officials said.

It is not at all unusual for popular Web sites to go dark for a few hours for maintenance. But in a primary race that is being fought as much online as offline -- where voters and potential donors are surfing the net 24/7 -- it's rather curious to shut down a site for more than a day.

Giuliani, who leads the Republican field in national polls, has struggled for months to establish an online identity while his rivals, particularly Rep. Ron Paul (R-Tex.) and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, have embraced the new YouTube-MySpace blogging paradigm of online campaigning.

In contrast, online strategists have said, Giuliani's Web strategy has underwhelmed. His is the only MySpace profile that's set to private, and the videos on his YouTube channel are mostly clips of his speeches and TV appearances.
