N.H.'s Gregg For Romney
Do endorsements matter?
Mitt Romney is about to pick up a key vote of support that could help answer that question. Later today, Romney will receive the endorsement of New Hampshire Sen. Judd Gregg in Concord, according to the campaign.
New Hampshire is quickly becoming the key battleground for the Republican candidates. With Romney far out in front in Iowa, the battle in the Granite State is shaping up to be the first real test for all of the leading contenders.
Romney has been pouring money into the state, and clearly hopes that Gregg's support will translate into votes on primary day (whenever that will be.)
But his rivals--particularly former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani and Arizona Sen. John McCain--are not giving the state up without a fight.
Giuliani plans to spend almost the entire week in New Hampshire and McCain's advisers have said they believe the state is the one place their candidate might be able to revive his flagging candidacy.
Gregg will join Romney at a rally at the steps of the state library this afternoon before Romney officially files as a candidate in the New Hampshire primary.

Endorsements do matter if they are from trusted individuals with credibility in the area they are endorsing. It would be hard to conceive that conservative republicans would line up behind an individual like Giuliani who supports abortion, gay rights, and gun control. Giuliani is a democrat in republican clothes. Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee are the real conservatives running for the republican nomination. Either would be an excellent choice... I prefer Romney for president, Huckabee for vice president in 2008. That would setup Huckabee for a strong run for the presidency in 2016 and give us strong conservative leadership in the white house for 16 consecutive years.

I like the article that suggested a vote for McCain is like a vote for Romeny and a vote for Huckabee is a vote for Guiliani...Why?
Its a two man race - Mitt or Rudy...All of the other candidates are superfluous...
Endorsements do matter, if its for either Mitt or Rudy...
My question is who would be the first to tell you F___ off Rudy or Mitt? My money's on Rudy...

Do these types of endorsements carry much weight anymore? And why would he endorse Romney so early? McCain could easily walk away with the primary, which would put the senator on shaky ground by backing the wrong guy.

Many votes are cast as a protest rather than as support. A no column so the voter could vote against A without having to vote for B would produce a more honest result that would be beneficial to all, winners, losers, the public and campaigning decorum. Selling one's self would become more productive than claiming fault with others. A way to say you don't want broccoli without having to say you want parsnips. Wouldn't that be refreshing?
