Obama Takes a Beach Day
Sen. Barack Obama quietly took his campaign southward over the weekend -- flying to St. Thomas and Puerto Rico while most of his Democratic cohorts slogged through Iowa. Obama slipped into the Caribbean without causing much fuss (or making much of a splash? or too many waves?), as his campaign advisers kept the heat on Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.
In addition to raising money, Obama was also scheduled to meet with the governor of Puerto Rico, his officials said. He returns to the mainland on Tuesday, when he starts a bus trip around Iowa on the "Change You Can Believe In" tour. But at least some people -- yes, including the press corps -- are hoping he taps the beachfront coffers again soon.

I am always impressed with Obama. He is man of integrity. Puerto Rico has long been ignored by the mainland US. Obama is smart enough to pay a visit and I hope that Puerto Ricans will take notice.

Although we did take notice of his visit we were somewhat disappointed in his lack of public statements on our political situation. Rasing funds is great and well but his lack of public statements or policy recommendations lead me to believe that he was interested in little more than growing his campaign coffers.
