Forgetting N.H., Giuliani Heads South

By Joel Achenbach
MANCHESTER, N.H., 8:30 p.m. -- Rudy Giuliani, getting out of town quick after his phoned-in New Hampshire bid left him fighting Ron Paul for fourth place, just had his "rally" with maybe a hundred or so supporters in the Radisson Hotel. Ten middle-aged white men stood behind the former New York mayor as he vowed to be the nominee of the party. He said he's heading straight to Florida and will announce some dramatic new proposals.

"This race is a wide-open race!" he said. He noted that he's been tested by crises in the past.

Then he came up with a novel spin on his weak finish.

"Maybe we've lulled our opponents into a false sense of confidence now."

A transcript of the Giuliani event is available here.

Joel Achenbach, increasingly useless tool:
"Rudy Giuliani, getting out of town quick after his phoned-in New Hampshire bid left him fighting Ron Paul for fourth place"

An actual journalist
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/Vote2008/story?id=4105498&page=1:
"Statistics compiled by ABC News Political Unit and ABC News' team of off-air reporters indicate that Giuliani held more events in this first-in-the-nation primary state than any other Republican except for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in neighboring Massachusetts. He also spent more on TV ads than anyone except for Romney and Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz."
