McCain on equal pay

The presumptive Republican nominee says his record proves that he is committed to "equal pay for equal work." But he has opposed legislation to allow victims of salary discrimination to sue employers beyond a 180-day deadline. ( 4:32 PM ET) | More »

John McCain

Brownback, Foiled Again!

The Curse of Brownback strikes again.

Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.) has campaigned on behalf of his Senate colleague John McCain (Ariz.) five times thus far, but his man has been thumped in all of them: Iowa, Michigan, North Dakota, Montana and Kansas. The latest sign of the curse came in Brownback's home state, no less, where former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee won 60 percent of the caucus vote today to McCain's 24 percent.

Brownback is keeping a good humor about his track record, telling The Trail's Juliet Eilperin ahead of the Kansas vote: "In every state we've sent me to, we've lost. So if this is a loss, it's my fault." But will McCain, who is notoriously superstitious, try again to buck a trend and put his good friend back on the campaign trail?

Brownback: Oh yeah.....evolution...thats an engine Harley uses in its motorcycles. What's that got to do with anything. Hell, my hand shouldn't be up... I believe in that engine.

This guy never had the true attention of the evangelical community. No charisma, harsh words on Iraq; bad combo.

Does "notoriously superstitious" mean his wife consults astrologers?
