Hillary Rodham Clinton
Live From New York ...
By Anne E. Kornblut
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The reason for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's side trip from the campaign trail has been revealed: She is on her way to Manhattan's Rockefeller Center, where she will appear tonight on NBC's "Saturday Night Live." (Her campaign advisers cannot confirm whether their assurances that her disappearance was "nothing bad" will extend to her one-liners.)
Clinton has treated the comedy show as her best friend in the media of late, with aides pointing approvingly to a Tina Fey commentary on "SNL" last week and then Clinton herself quoting an "SNL" skit in a recent debate. She returns to the campaign Sunday.

The Cartoon about Obasama was very funny! Nice prelude to what he can expect before, and after November! ;~)
As far as Ruthie Giuliani's complaints about the Dress Skit, at least HIS was not Religiously implicating as Barack Hessein's WAS!
Hey Obasama, next time you put on a dress, use a little Make-Up, I know it is allowed by Muslims! :-)

SNL is so outdated. it is on life support. hilly is a joke. that 3 am ad is her silliest feat, yet. she wants us to believe she will be up at 3 am in the morning in her pantsuit, necklace, earrings, makeup, hair done and glasses ready to answer the phone. (eureka! that's what she means by being ready!) she chose to act on a fear that is just wrong. children shouldn't be used to scare up votes. someone should have told her 9/11 didn't happen at 3 am. why would anyone call her, anyway? what is she going to do ? suit up? isn't the president just informed by the military people in charge as to what is going on? she acts as if she will be in charge. billy would take that call because that's who would really be in charge. hilly is just a front. obama's ad could have done a better job of countering her ad by showing how incompetent and RECKLESS hilly was in signing to go to war by playing back her own words from the debate where she said she didn't know what she was signing and obama reminded her by stating the title of it to show that it was clearly worded to go to war and a voice over where billy said Bush "duped" hilly into signing. this is a woman that should NOT be answering the phone at 3 am or any other time to be in authority of national security. she seemed to have lost it last week. she was all over the place. she seemed stoned at the last debate; that dead stare at obama and the clenched jaw was weird. on SNL, why didn't she joke about her schizo rants, not revealing her tax returns, billy getting back into the white house? a better skit would be Chelsea being "pimped out". the young people are not represented because SNL has old writers. oh, well , too late. this will all be over tuesday. texas men won't stand for that helfer. feel sorry for billy, she won't have any use for him after this. his support was punishment for the monica thing.

This appearance could backfire because the SNL crowd is heavily pro-Obama. I know Hillary is desperate and will now try anything, no matter how foolish. But it is always safer to leave the comedy to the comedians.

If experience, wisdom and judgment may be relied upon to judge a presidential candidate's abilities to solve problems, then let's look at the records of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
In the Illinois legislature, Barack Obama secured bipartisan support for health-care reform and passage of low-income tax credits and child care subsidies.
In 2002, Barack Obama cautioned that without clear rationale an invasion of Iraq would encourage the worst impluses of the Arab world and strengthen the recruitment arm of Al Qaeda.
In the U.S. Senate, Barack Obama promoted a restoration of balance between work and wealth, criticized special interests for distorting U.S. tax codes and fought in a bipartisan effort to establish independent oversight of Senate ethics.
When did Hillary Clinton demonstrate her economic wisdom and foresight while Alan Greenspan was warning of irrational exuberance as the subprime housing loans were created and pandered during her husband's administration and her husband supported China's entry into the World Trade Organization without any conditions such as protecting the environment or labor and property rights to levels that are comparable to western standards?
Today China is not only a leading contributor to environmental pollution and global warming (thank you very much Mr. Nobel Laureate, Al Gore), it's also pushing up oil and other commodity prices, taking our jobs and stealing our intellectual property.
When did Hillary Clinton deliver health-care reform? In Hillary Clinton's eight (8) years in the Senate, the Congressional Record (www.thomas.gov) shows she "sponsored" only two (2) pieces of legislation that were presented to the president for signature. The first piece of legislation (S. 1241) was to establish a historic site in New York state, the second (S. 3613) was to name a U.S. Postal Service building.
At 3:00 AM who is Hillary Clinton gonna call in a national crisis? GHOSTBUSTERS?
Without any attachment to a position and no leadership qualities or principles to guide her in a time of national crisis, Hillary Clinton like her husband, would need to first conduct a poll to determine what is in her political interest before committing to any national decision.
It's refreshingly nice to see the better angels of America's character prevailing as voters reject the racial, religious and ethnic slurs being spewed by the divisive Clinton, Limbaugh and Hannity supporters.
As a Republican-leaning independent, I will vote for Barack Obama if he is the Democratic nominee running against John McCain but I will not vote for Hillary Clinton.

By the way, don't come to me with liteweight policy talk. I am not for Obama for his speeches. I know his policy/platform inside out and I know for a fact (because I read it) that his Senatorial record is much stronger than the experienced Clinton.
So if he were 100% caucasian and a terrible speaker that wouldn't swing your vote...
Admirable. The only problem is, in staying so strictly on "message" and not allowing reporters near the candidate, the vast majority of voters that vote for him aren't going on policy. They don't know who he is and I guarantee are going to revolt when they discover how deeply they've actually been duped.
Let me know if you need me to point it out for you. I can do it in my next post.
Hillary was cool tonight but the problem is that she can't connect with people. She hasn't lived in the real world since 1984 when she was elected first lady of Arkansas. Neither is McCain able to connect with people. He's never lived in the real world - all military and DC. 60 years out of 72 in a base, at war, or in DC.
Being reelected to Congress 8 times between them is enough evidence for me that McCain and Clinton can connect with the people of New York and Arizona. Is GWB a superior leader in any sense of the word for having an MBA and 20 years in the private sector ?? Although, like Obama, he was an "agent of change" -- and unarguably for the worse.
So should analytically minded members of the public now be blamed for hesitating over rhetoric that sounds very, very similar to what we deeply regret falling for the last eight years ?

2 political pieces--one adoring of Hillary and one slamming Obama. SNL sure has shown it is no longer in touch with young america (How old is Lorne anyway?)They should start looking to Polident and Geritol for advertising support. This marks their final disconnect with what WAS their target audience. As if Hillary didnt present ample comic opportunities last week in her Sybil-like transformations!
Posted by: hammondsm4 | March 2, 2008 9:49 AM
I swear to god Obama is starting to sound like that cult leader in Conan (played by James Earl Jones killed by the gov. of Califooornia).
In RI someing like "You and me together we can change America - Change the World"
WTF
I know someday soon it will be "cleans the world."
There are some weird OP-eds on women Hillary and Obama. And by weird I mean crappy.

Too late. Hillary got the primaries wrong. I am very much worried about her anger. Did you see her in Ohio jabbing Obama mailers in the air? I could see steam from her ears. She needs to chill down. Obama did not steal her voters, she lost them.

Once again the Oblapie supporters soil them selfs with personal BIAS's Yeaaa Clinton do your thing while oblapie panders the theme of Hope with no substance.
(NOTE) You Oblapie supporters had better (HOPE) that this empty suit can produce when he does receive the Nomination, HE WILL NEED CLINTON MORE THAN SHE NEEDS HIM, and to what extent she will help him with his agenda? only she knows.
Having said that there will be many travails for Oblapie to navigate, and from his resume that will be difficult to do.
This is supposed to be a leader and for your sake he had better be up to the task, otherwise the black race and the progressives will suffer irreparable harm which would suit me just fine, in esscence be careful of what you wish for because you may get more than you bargained for.

Obama cultist as shti head like as ever.
Could you read the right wing stuff and see how you guys only talk about stupid crap to divert away from the harsh realities.
Obama - not who he sells himself as. Not bad by political standards but not a magic man either. The fact that his supporters here are almost unendurable will attest to that.
SNL bit was funny not a big deal so don't wet your panties.

Saturday Nite Live Dies.....
In an attempt to throw the March 4 Elections to Senator Clinton, NBCs' long running Saturday Night Live crafted a well orchestrated 10 minute skit with a 5 minute Live follow-up by Clinton. The skit included a sympathy piece that was a continuation of Senator Clintons cry that the Media is biased against her. Then in a sign of solidarity or what might be called "Girl Power", The actress who played Senator Clinton in the skit joined her In a segment to compliment each other on Clothing then Clinton Opened the show with "Live from New York" handle.
The producers of the show obviously were taking full advantage of Senator Clintons recent rants about the show In the Democratic Debate aired last week.
The show has been dying for the last 3 seasons due to of subpar writing and competiton with shows on Comedy Central and Fox. This will surely put the show on it's final path towards retirement. Senator Clinton spoke directly to the people in Ohio, Texas, Vermont and Rhode Island in her message. When there is a bias in the media that is obvious.... as this was, it is hard for the Network to deny
that it was scripted to influence the March 4th primaries and attempting to give unfair advantage to one candidate over the other.
Saturday Nite Live Died........

When will the arrogant and naive Obama supporters wake up and join the real world?
Hillary's not afraid to fight, because she's fighting for you!

Ok I tried my label tonight at a Swing Dance with some younglings. Seems to work for them.
Gen Y (1983-2001?) is now the Obambi generation.
I am a demographer so these things matter too me.
Gen X and Gen Y make a boy (XY) and is just too hand-me-down. Try it out on some of the kids see if it works. The end of the X was denoted by a baby boom from late births by babyboomers. Also there teen years were full of the internet.

Hint for Clinton Supporters:
- I am a former Republican.
- I voted for Bush in 2000.
- I sat out 2004.
- I joined the Obama campaign in November.
- Today I made over 40 calls to Ohio and Texas.
- Tomorrow morning I am driving 8 hours to - Columbus Ohio to canvass and support the 5000 out of towners like me in Ohio supporting the local Obama team.
- While you are all here, we are out there getting 10,000 to 20,000 out to see Obama speak.
I've worked SC, VA, MD, DE and OH (tomorow).
In not one of those states did I come across a Clinton supporter that was from out of state.
I am not sure why there is so much hatred for Obama. How will many of you be able to join the party when Obama is nominated?
Will you seriously support a Warmonger as President over Obama? What did Obama do again?
By the way, don't come to me with liteweight policy talk. I am not for Obama for his speeches. I know his policy/platform inside out and I know for a fact (because I read it) that his Senatorial record is much stronger than the experienced Clinton.

As for the rest of the actual thinking people on here... how bad did she disrespect the people of Ohio tonight?
She could have been there, talking to them if she wanted their vote, and done her 30 second bit on SNL by satellite....... just another mistake on the Clinton campaign trail that has driven their own personal bus into the ditch, too.
Hill, sweetie, we have a special saying in Texas that I'm sure you'll love....

Hillary has no more chance to win than Mike Huckabee. This is a no incumbant election, we HAVE to win! Party leaders need to consider how to discipline her for the damage she is now doing to the Democrats' chances this November. Enough!
Sen. Reid: Are you paying attention? Step up, the party needs you. Impeach Hillary from the senate!

I'm an Obama supporter and I hope she has a good time on SNL. She deserves a consolation prize. And we Obama supporters would have loved it if it were Obama instead. But the White House will do for us. You can't always get what you want, but you get what you need.
Posted by: wpost4112 | March 1, 2008 10:53 PM
wpost4112, I like how you think!
Also, I would like to note something else here. Last week, a poster here thought it wonderful that Clinton attended the funeral of the Dallas policeman (cancelled her campaign event, etc.) and thought it was just nasty that Obama could not take the time to go back to Illinois to attend the service for the Northern Illinois University victims. I would like that particular poster to know this: Clinton made sure she had press for her cancelling her campaign event, and for her attendance of the event...all to gain more Texas votes. Obama did indeed attend the service for the Northern Illinois University victims - but did NOT want the press there as he felt it was NOT appropriate. THAT is what you call personal, not political! P.S. I know this because I read 10 - 15 of the larger national newspapers...you can get them online!

She is such shrill, immoral, liar that will say or do anything. I feel I need a shower after watching her and her campaign spew their filth.
If she decides to keep running, there will be no choice but to run ads showing a montage-- the corrupt Hill and Bill, Whitewater, Monica, the Futures investment, destroyed documents, allegations of rape and cover-up, Jennifer Flowers, stained Blue Dress, Impeachment, Corruption, Mark Rich calling 3 am offering a bribe, Hill/Bill agreeing to grant a pardon, tax returns, the library donors. The horrible sexual abuse and cover up of a young intern named Monica..., and then trying to destroy her. Karl Rove was suckled at the breast of his fellow low life, provocateur, immoral bat-hag, Ann Lewis.
The press has not been hard on these two corrupt thugs. Just the opposite.
She is toast... go out with a little class....

the call at 3 am will be answered like this
"I find it curious that you chose to call "ME" first, But I am happy to take your call I find it strange that I am always the first one to be called. Not the speaker Not the chief of staff but me. I am still happy to take your call even though it is 3 in the morning and I have an early morning But I am not complaining"

I started out in this campaign supporting Hillary. But given how it has gone, if she gets the nomination, I might just sit this one out. I wouldn't vote for McCain, unless she does something even stupider than she's done so far.

Damn. I was hoping they'd parody the "3 am" ad, with the voiceover continuing on to:
"Unfortunately, when the call comes in, the White House line is busy"
Cut to image of Hillary asleep, and in the background, image of an old man with the phone pressed to his mouth, quietly whispering "oh yeah?...what color?.....mmmmmm, I love thongs...."

I am not sure why the world has gone GA GA for barrack. I mean this is a very simple choice who do you want to elect to the office? Someone who has the experience of running a country for the "LAST 35 years" or someone who is an irreplenishable source of inspiration for the country and the world and is MAKING people actively involved in politics and just MAY unite us. But he is just speechmaker and I hear they are all plagarised and that voice is not even really his.

On behalf of all loyal Republicans, thanks!

SNL doesn't need to parody the "3 am phone call ad", though it would be easy to do. And McCain's campaign doesn't need to worry about it. If Hillary gets the nomination, the McCain campaign can run the same ad, intact, without comment, as their own.
What kind of bozos does she have running her campaign, anyway? It sort of explains how her ratings have fallen over the past few months, when they make stupid decisions like this one!

Today's bleat from the Clinton campaign--this time from Hillary mega-contributor Walter Shorenstein, founder of the Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, who claims that HRC is losing because the media is biased against her--tells me two things.
First, that there is a cultural commonality of victimhood that unites Clintonites-they are never responsible for their failures, their mistakes, or their lies, ever ("not one time," as Bill would, and did, say).
Second, that the media is actually bending over (and not necessarily backwards), to accomodate this kind of bullroar in order to placate the fading bulls of the Democratic establishment.
Maybe real estate developer Shorenstein should remember the words of broastcast legend Edward R. Murrow:
"We cannot make good news out of bad practice."
You cannot make good news with a bad candidate either.

I'm an Obama supporter and I hope she has a good time on SNL. She deserves a consolation prize. And we Obama supporters would have loved it if it were Obama instead. But the White House will do for us. You can't always get what you want, but you get what you need.

For the record: To posters who are demanding equal time on SNL for Sen. Obama--he was on a few months back. Attempt to be fair-minded. Sen. Clinton is now getting the equal time that you claim he should have.
I voted for Sen. Obama in the primary but have since changed my mind and now support Sen. Clinton. I can understand how his supporters would be displeased with Tina Fey's advocation of her candidacy last weekend, however.

isn't it about time again for Hillary to pretend to shed a tear on behalf of our dear country? or some such self-serving tripe?
guess she usually waits until the night before the voting to do this in front of the cameras...
I wonder what Bill will do with himself if Hillary gets the big desk...train interns I guess
Obama Obama Obama

Obamaphiles are so petty, jealous, and easily threatened. Hillary gets a good review on SNL, and they all get into a snit, whereas, as several others have pointed out here the remainder of the media lackeys have been in an idiotic swoon over Obama for weeks on end.
By the way, Michelle wanted Barack to quit smoking if he ran for president. I hear he's still lighting up. Can't you just see it? President Obama is in conference with several foreign leaders and has to excuse himself to go outside and stand 30 feet from the doorway to get a nicotine fix!!!
Now wouldn't that look hip and cool?

Obama appeared on SNL in the dinner party skit.

Democrats, let's stay together. I don't like much about Hillary's campaign lately, but we love the party, her supporters and Barack's have so much in common. We need to stick together..
Don't waste your energy preaching unity. 95% of the people who say they're going to stay home in November or vote for McCain are just lying to themselves or posturing. They'll cry about unfair treatment for a month or two and eventually come to their senses and vote for Obama. As an Obama supporter -- and someone who finds Sen. Clinton highly distasteful -- I would do the same thing if Hillary somehow pulled it out. It's been an intense, bloody battle, but when it came down to pulling the lever, I couldn't live with myself if I voted Republican after these past seven years.

Well, what can I say?
When you are a JOKE, flaunt it! ;~)
Maybe Bill can get into the Act.
Bill, Cigar, Oral Office...
LOL! :-)

Great new ad!! Go Shillary!!

This is a great coup for Hillary!!! Can't wait to see her tonight on the show.
As for Obama, this lifelong Democrat will stay home in November if he's the nominee. Experience and preparedness DO count for something.
Posted by: beacool | March 1, 2008 10:23 PM
Maybe they will show a montage of the Clinton campaign thus far, followed by her waking up, and Bill telling her it was all just a bad dream.

Democrats, let's stay together. I don't like much about Hillary's campaign lately, but we love the party, her supporters and Barack's have so much in common. We need to stick together and avoid bombing Iraq with Johnny Mac, who won't even denounce and reject Catholic-hating and Jew-bashing Pastor Hagee. If we stay together, we'll have judges who aren't shills too, which would be nice.
JakeD, you are loved in the eyes of Obama. Peace!

SNL is not partial.
Barack Obama was on Saturday Night Live on November 7th 2007....
Check your facts.

The next time Obama is on SNL, the same two or three sock puppeteers will cheering them on.
What I'd like to know is why Anne Kornblut thinks it necessary to turn this site into TV Guide. Shouldn't she be, you know, doing some real reporting such as asking the candidates about the glaringly obvious gaps in their policies?
Allow me to quote:
Our democracy depends upon the fourth estate to fulfill the uniquely critical role of informing voters about the important issues facing our nation," Shorenstein wrote. "Yet far too often, the campaign coverage has been biased, blase, or baseless."

You know, this could really be kind of a big deal. If she's a hit, the clip will be all over the Internet and there will be massive press about it on Monday. If she's a flop, there won't be quite as much press but what there is will confirm her as tragically unhip.
Swinging 20,000 under 30s from Obama to her could be enough to win her Texas. Hitting a home run on SNL three days before the election could do that.
I thought it was whack when we had elections turning on hanging chads in Florida. Now they're turning on Amy Poehler.

Good move by Hillary. I am an Obama supporter, but am impressed by how she is battling now. She's done one thing that was totally over the line -- suggesting that John McCain is better prepared to be president. That's the kind of thing that makes it inevitable that after Tuesday, when she has at best picked up a handful of net new delegates, but has instead quite possibly fallen further behind, a lot more super delegates are going to move to Obama to put an end to this blood-letting and start focusing on November.
Wilco are awesome, btw. And they are huge Obama supporters. Should be some good tv tonight!

Hope she has fun when SNL spoofs the 3 am phone call ad by having, hmm, say Monica or Paula or Gennifer or whoever on the line, looking for Bill. Crisis, indeed. Sorry, I couldn't resist it -- that ad just cries out for a Clinton bedroom moment and if SNL DOESN'T do it they'll be branded as wimps. Lol ... I'll be in bed anyway but I'm sure the Clinton News Network will replay the scene 184,000 times, right after their 256,000th showing of the 3 am ad.

While I am not for Hillary I have to wish her the best of luck tonight with the show. She does have many "characters" that she has protrayed in the last two weeks, Lets see, there is Honered to be on stage with Barrack Hillary, ashamed of Barrack Hillary, Giggly at that Barrack Hillary, Mad at Barrack Hillary, Sarcastic about Barrack Hillay, ...etc.
Posted by: ggrud | March 1, 2008 9:52 PM
Regarding hatred between the Democratic candidates' followers, do not discount the fact that many of the most egregious hatred-baiters are Republicans stirring the pot.
JakeDuh, I'm looking at you. How did Romney work out, by the way?
Posted by: steveboyington | March 1, 2008 9:40 PM
I cannot wait!! Go Hillary! i also want to make something clear: I do not hate Obama supporters, but there seems to be so much hatred coming from your side. Peace!
Posted by: pamfloro1 | March 1, 2008 9:35 PM
I'm just going to make a wild guess that her time on SNL won't be as sunny for her as it was when Obama made his Halloween appearence. For those outraged Obama supporters who still feel it's all so unfair, why not read some of the many negative anti-Hillary commentaries that the WP offers.
Posted by: chriszick | March 1, 2008 9:28 PM
Gosh, I'm old enough to remember when SNL was a comedy show -- making fun, on an equal opportunity basis, of all politicians -- rather than a boring shill for the candidates that its entertainers happen to favor. That show hasn't been worth watching for years, and apparently those in charge have found a way to make it even worse.
Posted by: lydgate | March 1, 2008 9:24 PM
Hillary does SNL? Too rich! Let me guess, she's once again "found her voice" and decided to go into standup comedy.
How embarassing. This is what she's paid millions to those two crooked consultants for? What a huckster!
Posted by: Dahveed1 | March 1, 2008 9:24 PM
It's sad that she is that desperate. I guess not much else seems to be working.
Posted by: rdprivate | March 1, 2008 9:23 PM
Great. Can't wait! Hope it's better than Huckabee's appearance.

RasKente: "Wow, shouldn't Obama get equal time? How can a network give free air time to one candidate in a tight race?"
I THE THINK THE BETTER QUESTION IS: HOW CAN MOST OF THE NETWORKS AND MAJOR NEWSPAPERS LIKE THE WAPO ALONG WITH THEIR BIASED (FOR OBAMA) REPORTERS GIVE OBAMA MOSTLY POSITIVE PRESS AND HILLARY MOSTLY NEGATIVE, MEAN SPIRITED, AND IN THE TANK FOR OBAMA PRESS AND COVERAGE??
AT LEAST SNL IS NOT REQUIRED TO BE "FAIR"...BUT OUR MEDIA IS AND SHOULD BE...THEY'VE PROVIDED MISERABLE AND BLATANTLY BIASED COVERAGE OF THIS CAMPAIGN. THEY ACTUALLY CALL THEMSELVES REPORTERS! WHAT A JOKE! I WONDER WHY OBAMA DOSEN'T CHASTISE THEM AS WELL FOR GOING ALONG WITH THE WAR IN IRAQ...THE MEDIA DID OUR COUNTRY A DISSERVICE BY NOT PROVING MORE CRITICAL COVERAGE/ANALYSIS ON THE DECISION TO GO TO WAR...AS THEY ARE SIMILARLY DOING NOW WITH OBAMA...BY NOT PROVIDING MORE CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF OBAMA'S RECORD AND THIN RESUME.
I WILL ENJOY SNL! GO HILLARY!!
Posted by: ogdeeds | March 1, 2008 9:19 PM
Ah, well, those who demand equal time for Senator Obama should relax; he does not need an extra exposure on the entertainment media since he has been on the receiving end of so much positive news media content and pundit opinion/analysis for a long time.
Indeed, the media have facilitated and exploited Mr. Obama's populism so that in this respect there is a symbiotic relationship between the two sides--they feed off each other.

She'll probably show up in her jammies and a pillow; maybe she'll release her tax returns . . . NOT! OBAMA '08!!!

Watch Wilco (Chicago-based band and Obama supporters) give Obama shout-out during the musical breaks. You heard it here.
Obama '08.

Well lets just say Obama supporters are too stupid to be clever. After all you all are supporting a ridiculous candidate to lead out country. Why should SNL waste its time are you all.
