Obama Adviser Critical of Clinton Resigns

By Peter Slevin and Perry Bacon Jr.
Updated: 1:39 p.m.
CHICAGO - Samantha Power, an outspoken foreign policy advisor to Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), stepped down this morning after calling Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) a "monster" in an interview with a Scottish newspaper. She said Clinton was "stooping to anything" to win the Democratic nomination.

In a statement released by the campaign as Obama prepared for a day of campaigning in Wyoming, Power called her remarks "inexcusable" and said she was resigning from her unpaid position "with deep regret."

"She made a decision to resign and we accepted it," Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs said aboard the senator's charter.

"Last Monday, I made inexcusable remarks that are at marked variance from my oft-stated admiration for Sen. Clinton and from the spirit, tenor and purpose of the Obama campaign," Power wrote. "And I extend my deepest apologies to Sen. Clinton, Sen. Obama and the remarkable team I have worked with over these long 14 months."

In a conference call earlier today several Clinton supporters suggested that Power should step down.

Later in the day, the Clinton campaign called attention to another interview Power gave while on book tour in the U.K. Power downplayed her candidate's campaign pledge to withdraw all troops from Iraq in 16 months, telling the BBC yesterday that his proposal was "a best-case scenario."

"You can't make a commitment in March of 2008 about what circumstances are going to be like in January of 2009," she said. "He will, of course, not rely upon some plan that he's crafted as a presidential candidate or a U.S. Senator. He will rely upon a plan - an operational plan - that he pulls together in consultation with people who are on the ground to whom he doesn't have daily access now, as a result of not being the president. So to think - it would be the height of ideology to sort of say, 'Well, I said it, therefore I'm going to impose it on whatever reality greets me."

Obama's Iraq plan calls for removing all U.S. combat troops from Iraq in 16 months if he is elected president, by withdrawing one to two brigades (around 3,000 soldiers) at a time. Clinton has also said she would also withdraw one or two brigades month, but has not set a firm timetable for all combat troops to be out of Iraq.

Power's remarks were the latest controversy involving one of Obama's policy advisers. The candidate spent the days before the primaries in Ohio and Texas explaining a meeting between Austan Goolsbee, his top economic policy adviser, and Canadian officials, who said Goolsbee suggested Obama's rhetoric against some free trade agreements was simply political rhetoric. Goolsbee denied making the remark. Susan Rice, who served in the State Department in the Clinton administration but now advises Obama on foreign policy, spoke yesterday of an ad in which Clinton touts her ability to handle a crisis at 3 a.m. by saying "they're both not ready to have that 3 a.m. phone call."

I agree that it is inappropriate to falsely claim that Obama is a Muslim, although I don't believe that being a Muslim in and of itself should be anything about which someone should be ashamed. I do think, however, it is important for America to better understand the kind of "Christianity" which has so fascinated Obama for the last 20 years. Obama claims to belong to a Christian Church called Trinity United Church. He considers the just-retired pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, to be his "mentor and spiritual advisor." According to the church's website, their members are "unashamedly Black and unashamedly Christian," and swear allegiance to the mother continent, Africa. Obama's church gave the racist and Jew-hating Louis Farrakhan a "lifetime achievement award" last November. Rev. Wright teaches Black Theology, and thinks about everything pretty much in terms of black versus white. He called 9/11, for example, a "wake-up call to white people." Commenting on the recent murder of Natalie Holloway, he decried the press coverage by stating that "one 18--year-old white girl from Alabama gets drunk on a graduation trip to Aruba, goes off and gives it up while in a foreign country, and that stays in the news for months." Rev. Wright likes to throw around the name of James Cone a lot when it comes to his theology. James Cone is another proponent of Black Theology. Here are just a couple of James Cone's quotes: (1) "To be Christian is to be one of those whom God has chosen. God has chosen black people." [Black Theology and Black Power, pp. 139-140]. (2) "While it is true that blacks do hate whites, black hatred is not racism." [Black Theology and Black Power, p. 15] (3) "All white men are responsible for white oppression." [Black Theology and Black Power, p. 24] (4) "Theologically, Malcolm X was not far wrong when he called the white man "the devil." [Black Theology and Black Power, p. 40] (5) "If there is any contemporary meaning of the Antichrist, the white church seems to be a manifestation of it." [Black Theology and Black Power, p. 73] **** Need I go on? These are the kinds of concepts that Obama has been soaking up for 20 years. The focal concern or center of black theology is the white oppression of blacks. Therefore, the usual theological discussions about God, Christ, and salvation are much less relevant. Although I respect anyone's right to belong to any religion they wish, this does not sound like a positive form of "Christianity" for any of those who are not members of the "chosen people." And, maybe Obama needs to be a little more candid about the brand of "Christianity" to which he adheres.

to paixetjoie:

i would not generalize the entire group of supporters for Clinton nor Obama (nor McCain for that matter) on what is presented in an online blog.

thats what blogs are for: pissing and moaning about this and that with little evidence or credibility in witty and incredulous quips (often with blatant disregard for punctuation and spelling). its not like its a true census of supporter's intentions or anything, so don't take it too seriously.

She is a monster!!!!!!! She was just calling a spade...a spade!

Posted by: bridgetteoneil | March 8, 2008 8:02 AM

If Senator Clinton is so power hungry she will do or say anything just to get elected, how about "CALLING YOUR OPPONENT 'A MONSTER'" IN ORDER TO GET ELECTED?

How about running for president after only a year or so in the US Senate and now the inexperience is exposed so early in the campaign? If it had not been for the Media giving Sen Obama a free pass, he would have tripped himself out long ago! How about running on a speech? How about not even being prepared to face some advertisy? How about not knowing what a Sr Advisor is doing on behalf of the campaign? Does this sound like someone who is prepared to be president? Not at all! But because Sen Obama feels HE MUST BE PRESIDENT, well he'll just run anyway. If he does not get his wish granted to him, he will call his opponents MONSTERS, and complain that his opponent is calling him to actually explain his own claims for the presidency!

Oh yeah! Senator Obama is living in a glass house and yet he can afford to throw out stones! And then he is now complaining that a stone just shattered his glass walls!

Now, Senator Obama's supporters seem to only be mean spirited on this board. They are full of hatred. If you disagree with your opponent, why do you need not only to hate her, but to shamelessly display your hatred for her? See, I was saying earlier, I do not want Sen obama to just arouse feelings and emotions in me and hope that I will vote for him. No wonder, his supporters on all boards I have visited online are just full of hate! Ms. Samantha Power's behaviour is actually in line with what I am witnessing online. So, is this coming from top down in the Obama Campaign? I need to know. Senator Obama, please explain to me!

Now go ahead and vote for Senator Clinton in PENSYLVANNIA AND WYOMING!

Posted by: paixetjoie | March 8, 2008 3:20 AM

Ms. Samantha Power ia a very intelligent woman. I watched clips of her interview on YouTube and I truly admired her ability to analyze and articulate internal affairs issues. A professor at Harvard and an author, she is an asset to the democratic party.

When you see someone of her level of academic achievement get frustrated to the point of calling someone she later said she admired a MONSTER, it is an indication of the level of frustration currently besetting the Obama Campaign.

Anyone with average intelligence knows and should expect that a campaign at this level is not a cakewalk and that it is possible to lose despite one's best efforts. Unless ONE FEELS ENTITLED TO SOMETHING, it is difficult to see how such intelligent people are having a hard time accepting this simple fact of any competitive engagement such as an election. The Obama campaign believes that THEY ARE ENTITLED TO THE PRESIDENCY AND THEREFORE SEN CLINTON IS A NUISANCE FOR TRYING TO TAKE IT FROM THEM.

I also think that Ms. Power's loss of cool during this interview gave me a window into the Obama team. This is the way they talk internally and it just came out when she lost control.

I am surprised that she apologized for "SAYING". A person with integrity should feel remorse for even ENTERTAINING SUCH THOUGHTS ABOUT ANOTHER PERSON. If Ms. Power has always so admired Sen. Clinton, I want to know what does she admire in Sen Clinton? Is it her achievements? Is it her ability to fight and break through where others think a woman would never go? And then tell me why now she is a monster for fighting back? I remember when senators John Edwards and Obama used to TEAM AGAINST SEN CLINTON DURING DEBATES past. Sen obama called Sen clinton untrustworthy, tied to lobbysts, tied to special interests, practicing divisive politics, dishonest, etc. He also called her "silly" for raising a legitimate question. All Sen Clinton did was to call him on issues that many of us wanted Sen Obama to answer: (a) THE JUDGEMENT ARGUMENT - You cannot afford a mansion, buy what you can afford. Do not get involved with Rezko; (b) CHANGE POLITICS AS USUAL: how about PERSONAL INTERESTS vs SPECIAL INTERESTS; (c) VOTING PRESENT: Take a position! this is a calculated political move to avoid taking a position knowing your ambition to run for president; (d) US SENATE RECORDS: If Sen obama is so concerned that the was on terror was abandonned for the war in Iraq, how come no meetings / hearing over NATO / Afghanistan for over 1 yr; (e) We do not know Sen Obama's records. We only hear a speech. Now we learn HE PLAGIARIZED. What do I tell my 19 years old daughter who is in College about integrity if President Obama (if elected) can do it & not be called on it? (f) NAFTACanadaGate: This is typical Washington Politics, right? Did he say he wants to put an end to this? (g) First he said no one spoke to the Canadians. then he said his top advisor spoke as a private party; well I have a question: IF YOUR SR ADVISOR CAN TALK TO FOREIGN GOVT WITHOUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE, WHO THEN IS IN CHARGE OF YOUR CAMPAIGN? WHO CLEARED HIM? Now I ask: Is Sen Obama just a front? Who are behind him calling the shots? What kind of Administration will this be? Maybe one day we'll wake up and the US has entered a TREATY with another country and Pres. Obama was not aware 'cause one of his Sr. Advisor did it without his knowledge; (h) Now we are learning that whatever he said he will do to end the war in Iraq, Ms. Power says that's not what he will necessarily do. So why should I then believe in what he is saying now? (i) Ms. Power said Senators Obama & Clinton are both not prepared to answer the 3:00 AM phone call. Well, she should only speak of her candidate. My reading: She knows that Sen. obama is not prepared to answer that phone call!

Please see that all these things would probably be INSIGNIFICANT otherwise, but BECAUSE SEN OBAMA CAME RIDING A WHITE HORSE, THEN I WANT TO MAKE SURE HE IS NOT JUST TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. Most of the times, it is! He set the bar very high for others but he refuses to be held to it!

Now all I have left with is SPEECHES with plagiarized content by the way! Give me something solid, not just poetry! Do not just try to raise my emotions so high & hope that we'll vote you in before I wake up!

I hear that African American Superdelegates are being HARASSED AND THREATENED INTO DROPPING SUPPORT FOR SEN CLINTON AND SUPPORTING SEN OBAMA. I am calling Sen Obama to RENOUNCE THIS AND REJECT SUCH SUPPORT. The only reason these black superdelegates are being COERCED to support Sen Obama is because THEY ARE BLACK! THIS IS DIVISIVE POLITICS. Senator Obama MUST REJECT SUCH SUPPORT PUBLICLY AND IMMEDIATELY to prove his INTEGRITY AND COMMITMENT TO BRINGING THE NATION TOGETHER. Now he may not be the one doing that. But those who are doing it are doing it FOR HIS BENEFIT. if someone brings drug money as contribution, I believe he will return it as soon as he finds out. Likewise, SUPPORT OBTAINED THROUGH COERCION MUST BE RETURNED AND REJECTED. This will send a clear message that Sen Obama has integrity and does not encourage or seek to benefit from such DIVISIVE POLITICS. As for Rep. John Lewis, a long-time friend of the Clinton's, I would not want him as a friend. A friend is loyal! Today he jumps to back Sen obama. Tomorrow, he will abandon Sen obama for a better opportunity!

Now, vote for Hillary Clinton, shall we!

Wall Street Journal Editorial,

Senator Clinton has said she'll make her tax returns public only if she wins the Democratic nomination. Mr. Clinton has said he'll disclose his future donors only if she is President. Once again they're trying to block disclosure until it's too late to inform the judgment of voters.

GEORGE HERBERT WALKER BUSH

...Like Nixon, George Bush was deeply involved with supporting the Nazis in the Republican's closet. In fact, support for the Nazis was a Bush family tradition which goes back more than six decades and, once again, to Allen Dulles.

Loftus and Aarons write: "The real story of George Bush starts well before he launched his own career. It goes back to the 1920s, when the Dulles brothers and the other pirates of Wall Street were making their deals with the Nazis. . . ."

THE BUSH-DULLES-NAZI CONNECTION

"George Bush's problems were inherited from his namesake and maternal grandfather, George Herbert 'Bert' Walker, a native of St. Louis, who founded the banking and investment firm of G. H. Walker and Company in 1900. Later the company shifted from St. Louis to the prestigious address of 1 Wall Street. . . .

"Walker was one of Hitler's most powerful financial supporters in the United States. The relationship went all the way back to 1924, when Fritz Thyssen, the German industrialist, was financing Hitler's infant Nazi party. As mentioned in earlier chapters, there were American contributors as well.

"Some Americans were just bigots and made their connections to Germany through Allen Dulles's firm of Sullivan and Cromwell because they supported Fascism. The Dulles brothers, who were in it for profit more than ideology, arranged American investments in Nazi Germany in the 1930s to ensure that their clients did well out of the German economic recovery. . . .

"Sullivan & Cromwell was not the only firm engaged in funding Germany. According to 'The Splendid Blond Beast,' Christopher Simpson's seminal history of the politics of genocide and profit, Brown Brothers, Harriman was another bank that specialized in investments in Germany. The key figure was Averill Harriman, a dominating figure in the American establishment. . . .

"The firm originally was known as W. A. Harriman & Company. The link between Harriman & Company's American investors and Thyssen started in the 1920s, through the Union Banking Corporation, which began trading in 1924. In just one three-year period, the Harriman firm sold more than $50 million of German bonds to American investors. 'Bert' Walker was Union Banking's president, and the firm was located in the offices of Averill Harriman's company at 39 Broadway in New York.

"In 1926 Bert Walker did a favor for his new son-in-law, Prescott Bush. It was the sort of favor families do to help their children make a start in life, but Prescott came to regret it bitterly. Walker made Prescott vice president of W. A. Harriman. The problem was that Walker's specialty was companies that traded with Germany. As Thyssen and the other German industrialists consolidated Hitler's political power in the 1930s, an American financial connection was needed. According to our sources, Union Banking became an out-and-out Nazi money-laundering machine. . . .

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.........

banking scandals where have we heard that before with the bush family...

BCCI, Silverado, SubPrime Mortgage banking/drug money laundering...

oh yeah, Omama is allover this, he's strong on "the past," he's a bs artist.

Great advice! That's what I plan to do this weekend: Enjoy the sunshine, go to an outdoor art and music festival, walk the dog, go to church on Sunday, and pray that obama sticks to his positive message of hope. In case we had forgotten the Clintons' lust for power, we sure have been reminded once again.

ABOUT TERRORISM, and fooling you oncet'

If personal motives, such as control of public perception, existed for the president to have covered up his "indirect" involvement with Sheikh Mahfouz, then Bush's claimed reason for the 911 report censorship could be a lie. Willful presidential deception would have occurred when Bush stated as the reason for his censorship, the need "to protect intelligence 'sources and methods'".

In politics, truth is often stranger than fiction: Sheikh Mahfouz's sister is actually one of four wives of Osama bin Laden, making the two men brothers-in-law, a fact that former CIA Director James Woolsey revealed in 1998 Senate testimony. Thus, Osama bin Laden is sleeping with the sister of Bush's business partner. Really.

Oil-related business deals between George W. Bush and several powerful Saudi Sheikhs, from 1979 to 1991, lacked both ethical integrity and Congressional intelligence oversight, since Bush used the same Saudi-controlled global banking network that was also used by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency and by Osama bin Laden. once a CIA asset. Yet, several abbreviated FBI and Congressional investigations later, this explosive truth still remains mostly hidden from the American public.

Consider the facts. For decades the current President's father, former President George H. W. Bush, has had publicly close ties to the oil-enriched Saudi royal family in regards to both politics and business. Then consider that the bin Laden family is the most entrusted of all families by the Saudi Royal household. For many decades, every Saudi King has granted the bin Laden's giant construction conglomerate exclusive contacts to restore all castles and holy sites within the country, and for numerous public works and infrastructure projects.

Also, consider that soon after bin Laden's September 11 attacks, it was public knowledge that 15 of the 19 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia, as was critical funding for bin Laden's al Qaeda network and for his earlier Arabic anti-Soviet fighters in Afganistan. Al Qaeda's predecesor was, in fact, bin Laden's 50,000 highly disciplined "Arab-Afghan" mujahideen, who were the most elite among Ronald Reagan's famous "freedom fighters", that were covertly given massive U.S. CIA support.

What is not generally known is that in years past, George W. Bush had several important business relationships with principle cohorts of Osama bin Laden's long-term financial sponsor, the powerful Saudi multibillionaire and banker to the king, Sheikh Khalid bin Mahfouz.

Bush's Deal with Saudi Sheikhs: A Reason to Cover-Up
This amazing story centers around and begins with the fraud-enshrouded Saudi National Commercial Bank (NCB), until recently owned by Sheikh Mahfouz. Following Osama bin Laden's U.S. Embassy bombings in Africa in 1998, Secretary of State Madeleine Albright told the Saudi Arabian Defense Minister, Prince Sultan, that Mahfouz had channelled tens of millions of dollars into terrorist accounts in London and New York. While treasurer to the Saudi King, Mahfouz plundered 2 billion dollars of the 21 billion dollar National Commercial Bank, of which he was then president.

The Saudi National Commercial Bank was affiliated with a global network of many Mahfouz-connected banks, including the InterMaritime Bank of Geneva and New York, whose vice-president brokered a 25 million dollar investment into George W. Bush's Harken Oil and Gas in 1987. Thus, the InterMaritime Bank was once related to the current President Bush through its Mahfouz-connected VP, a man named Dr. Alfred Hartmann. The InterMaritime Bank was also involved in multiple covert CIA operations.

During the 1980's, Sheikh Mahfouz's banking syndicate performed major CIA-inspired banking operations for such former CIA assets as Osama bin Laden, as well as for Saddam Hussein, Manuel Noriega and other drug dealing generals, such as in Pakistan. Much of this is documented in the 1992 U.S. Congressional testimony of Senator John Kerry.

George W. Bush, for his part, had important business relationships not only with Dr. Hartmann, but with a total of nine prominent individuals that are central to Mahfouz's financial empire, including both the "Godfather of Saudi Intelligence" and his partner, a billionaire Bush campaign donor.

If George W. Bush and Sheikh Mahfouz were ever coexisting in each others financial network, then the question is begged as to whether any personal or political reasons exist for the President to have censored the Saudi section of the Senate's report on bin Laden's September 11 attacks.

When two principal individuals are directly connected to the same group of nine persons -- with each of the the eighteen subsequent relationships having zero degrees of separation -- then one would say that a "network" exists that profoundly connects the two principals in question.

...c'mon Mike McConnel, tell the truth you little hummer....

punk.

Crisis --
I wanted a Clinton/Obama ticket because I thought it would unify the Democratic Party.
However, I'm having second thoughts as I learned more about the real Obama.
I learned that Obama did a lousy job for the people he represented in Chicago, and I've learned more about Obama's relationship with Rezko the Slumlord, the one that Obama lied about during the debates.

Back in 1996 when he was 35 and making his first foray into politics, he hired a fellow Harvard Law alum to review the applications of his 4 potential opponent's in the Democratic primary and nitpicked their applications to death. The result, he had all 4 disqualified, including a popular incumbent who had held the post for several terms, and ran unopposed.

Doesn't sound like the candidate of Change and Hope and Unity. More like what a Monster would do.

Posted by: David2007 | March 7, 2008 8:16 PM

Hillary Monster Clinton -- chews up "hope", spits it out and grinds it into the dirt.

Posted by: zb95 | March 7, 2008 8:07 PM

Monster is too nice of a word to use for Hillary. She as per me is King or Queen Monster. She will do anything to get elected. I am not sure why people like her. May be people are scared of the notion that this Monster if not elected will destroy them. That is the only justification I can derive after seeing the results of Texas and Ohio. Many of our people are as illiterate as people of third world countries. We need to acknowledge that truth. Otherwise there is no explanation whatesoever for her rise from the ashes.

Samatha Power is no political hack. She is a Professor at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government and a winner of a Pulitzer Prize in 2003 for her book "A Problem from Hell: America and the Age of Genocide" and she is correct, Hillary Clinton is a "Monster -- Willing to do anything to win."

Wow, you can always tell who's had a couple drinks before they post something (and also those who probably should).

I'm so addicted to this primary and so are all of you. Following primary news is an escape drug, it's just an easy way to take our minds off the fact that we still have the president we have now.

But now there is a lull, it's 7 weeks till the next big one. I can't wait that long! Imagine 7 weeks of meaningless stories like this article passing for front page news, pages upon pages of made-up scandals and he-said she-said.

I say everyone take at least a 1-week break from the news, go out and see the sunshine. Go for a walk with your loved one, play with your kids if you have any, see a good movie, read a good non-political book. You'll thank me later.

We continue to see kinks in the 'SHINING Armor' of Barack HUSSEIN Obama. This last kink appears to be from one of his TRUSTED
political advises. I would be concerned that
this particular comment shows how HIS entire 'TRUSTED' campaign THINK. This same ADVISER readily admitted that HUSSEIN Obama would not and could not commit to removing the troops from IRAQ until he had CONSULTED with his commanders on the ground AFTER he was President.

The issue about the NAFTA was not a rumor because there was a WRITTEN letter that followed with the offical from Canada. It was used to BACK CHANNEL to the powers that been in Canada. HUSSEIN Obama... stated that there was NO TELEPHONE call to discuss the issue with Canadian Officals. READ.. TRUE STATMENT... because it was a written memo back channeled to the Government in Canada.

Read between the pages regarding HUSSEIN Obama. He preaches change, for the good of the American People... tries to be a combination of MLK and JKF. But is NEITHER.

Watch and listen to his speeches... he preaches volumes... but has no substance to what he is saying. He has NO PLANS on how he will LEAD THE CHANGES needed in our Government BY THE PEOPLE FOR THE PEOPLE.

It is impossible for HIM to make any needed changes the running of the GOVERNMENT on Washington WITHOUT getting rid of the OLD GUARD from BOTH PARTIES on the HILL.

The entire issue is getting re-elected for the next term. PERIOD.

Basically some of the OLD GUARD have been wheeled to the Capital Building and are allowed to DIE in Place... Because they have the money and party clout to be re-elected time and time again.

The American PEOPLE ARE so Naive that they will listen to any used 'CAR SALEMEN' that tells you how great the car is KNOWING THAT IT HAS A BAD VALVE. This is what HUSSEIN trObama has done on the campaign trail...

When Obama told his campaign staff to "go negative" he neglected to mention that doesn't mean to expose to foreign journalists the trash-talk of Obama campaign inner circle.

Thank you, Scotsman, for revealing some of the nature of the "off the record" and "behind the scenes" things that the Obama surrogates say. The American press is in love with Obama and repeats those kinds of things instead of exposing them and those who say them.

I'm sure a few people are already working on a book called "How to Steal a US Presidential Election, Step-by Step, for Dummies." In the next few months (or maybe just few weeks), all chapters are going to be filled. It's just a matter of who gets the book out first. Already, people critical of the Clintons are being forced out left and right. CNN (guess who owns CNN?) has become a Clinton advocate. Puerto Rico is changing delegate selection rules in mid-nomination. Florida and Michigan are being forgiven for their blatant rule violations. This is all understandable -- Obama is trying to fight special interest groups and special interest groups are just fighting back. This is democracy at its best.

Some Food For Thought:

Large numbers of Republicans have been voting for Barack Obama in the DEMOCRATIC primaries. 1) Because they feel he would be a weaker opponent against John McCain. And 2) Because they feel that a Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama ticket would be unbeatable.

Hillary Clinton has actually won by much larger margins than the votes showed. And lost by much smaller vote margins than the vote totals show. And her delegate count is actually much higher than it shows. And higher than Obama's.

Maybe the media, and some sharp, aggressive investigative reporters, and academics would like to look into this. I hear there has been an astonishingly high rate of this type of cheating of the DEMOCRATIC primary voters going on. Few if any of these Republican voters plan to vote for Obama in November.

Sounds like a major scandal to me. And what can the DNC, and the super delegates do to correct this outrage against Hillary Clinton, the Democratic party, and the Democratic process.

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama:

Dear Madam, and Sir,

A Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama ticket is what we want. And that is what we need to take back the Whitehouse. We want a smart, tough, idealistic, seasoned veteran of many battles fighting for the American people (Hillary Clinton). With a young, passionate, smart, open-minded, hard-working idealist fighting for the American people (Barrack Obama). The DREAM TEAM!

You are both fabulous candidates. And we, the American people are very fortunate to have each of you. Taking back the Whitehouse is critical for the American people, and the world at this time. And I think the American people have been saying loudly, and clearly that a Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama ticket is the best way to do this.

I think the American people have made it very clear that they feel Hillary Clinton is the one best able to lead the ticket against John McCain at this critical, and desperate time in America, and around the world. These dramatic comebacks are testament to Hillary Clinton's skill, and experience as a fighter for the American people. They are also a testament to the strong desire of the American people to have both of you fighting for the American people at this time of midnight in America.

Typical of the Clinton's is an uncanny ability to see and understand what the American people want. And then to try and get it for them. Even if they have to go through three political near death experiences to try and get it for the American people. This is classic Clinton's. They are the best I have ever seen.

We are desperate out here. Millions of us are suffering greatly. And tens of thousands of us are dying needlessly every year. Men, women, children, and babies. We need help! As Hillary Clinton said "It's not a game". We need the two of you together on our side fighting for us, and for the American dream for all. Not fighting against each other anymore.

It's time for you Senator Obama to join forces with Hillary Clinton as her running mate so that we can all focus our energies, and resources on taking back America for the American people.

Sincerely

Jacksmith...

Martin's comment above about Senator Clinton contending Barack is not ready to be commander-in-chief, but then saying she is willing to have him as her Vice-Presidential nominee is entirely consistent. The Clinton camp is willing to say virtually anything to try to dupe some voters, including superdelegates, and win the nomination. They realize they would need to win as many supporters of Barack as possible, so they are quite willing to suggest the possibility of him becoming the Vice-Presidential nominee to use him and his supporters to her political advantage.

This is a potential win-win strategy for the Clinton camp. Undermine Barack as much as possible so Senator Clinton may win the nomination, or undermine Barack as much as possible, so if he wins the nomination, but loses the election, she will be annointed by the media as the frontrunner in the Democratic party in 2012.

I encourage all readers to watch video of SP interview on the BBC. She may be a prize winning writer but she is a pathetic and naive spokesperson. Forget about the MONSTER comment. Here is the person who is very very close to OBAMA (adores him!) clearly says: "... here we are in March 08 and no one knows what would be the situation in Jan 09 ... and he would do whatever ..." Doesn't this say something still unknown about this guy? He would make any kind of promise to get elected now but would do things differently when the time comes. That's is the old style politics at its worst and not the new transforming politics he promises. How can you trust him?

Also if OBAMA is answering the 3 am call after consulting Samantha we are in serious trouble because the lady cannot think straight.

It was tragic today for the Obama campaign today regarding Samantha Powers speaking to a foreign press regarding the Obama campaign and representing Barack Obama as his lead foreign policy adviser. It has gone against his philosophy and the way he states he will run his campaign. How much has she told the foreign governments? I too, wonder how many other advisers he has that would jeopardize our security as a nation? I am so glad she resigned as this would indeed jeopardise our security overseas and how the world sees us as Americans. Our nation is strong and we need to keep it as a leading power in the world and the only way we can do that is with a President like Hillary Clinton. Super delegates need I say more? The statement made as to a knife fight was uncalled for by Barack Obama and should also be retracted. Inexperience in running a campaign is no excuse. With running a country we cannot take chances, and running a country as a true leader will only can be done with Hillary Clinton as President. Americans now more than ever, realize who the next President of these Unites States will be. Pennsylvania will show finally who America wants as President not only to protect our nations' security overseas but here in our own country.

CLINTON'S NAFTA-GATE

Posted: Thursday, March 06, 2008 3:37 PM by Domenico Montanaro
Filed Under: 2008, Clinton, Obama

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
Per the Toronto Globe and Mail, in a story that was the lead on the paper's front page today, that call to the Canadian embassy was actually from the Clinton campaign, not Obama's:

"Mr. [Ian] Brodie, [PM Harper's chief of staff], during the media lockup for the Feb. 26 budget, stopped to chat with several journalists, and was surrounded by a group from CTV. The conversation turned to the pledges to renegotiate the North American free-trade agreement made by the two Democratic contenders, Mr. Obama and New York Senator Hillary Clinton.

"Mr. Brodie, apparently seeking to play down the potential impact on Canada, told the reporters the threat was not serious, and that someone from Ms. Clinton's campaign had even contacted Canadian diplomats to tell them not to worry because the NAFTA threats were mostly political posturing. The Canadian Press cited an unnamed source last night as saying that several people overheard the remark.

Hillary should release her tax returns or concede immediately.

Or else . . . .

I think better advice is Obamamessiah's "advisors" should stop granting interviews. He's only got so many toes to give.

Posted by: JamesSCameron | March 7, 2008 7:04 PM

Please note that this is a totally unbiased comment from an individual that does not have a dog in this fight. There are two (2) minorities fighting it out for the Democratic nomination for President. Indeed Senator Obama is ahead on the delegate count. He is a minority race (although he is actually bi-racial which I believe has been mentioned). Mrs. Clinton is a minority in that she is a female. Which playing card is stronger, the race card or the female card? If Senator Obama was campaigning against a black female he would be at a disadvantage since the race factor would be negated however the gender factor would still be there. Vice Versa, If Mrs. Clinton were to be campaigning against a white male she could always play the gender card as a female.

For what its worth and probably not much, I am of the opinion that in this instance the race card is a much better hand than the gender card.

After all is said and done, Obama will and should be the Democratic Candidate based on his delegate count. I also believe that he will be a much easier opponent for the Republicans to defeat in November.

As a Clinton supporter, I don't think Obama is a monster. However, there is no question that a large number of his cult fans, er. supporters are monsters and more. I can nver vote for Obama, given this is what his so called inspiration does to people.

A whole bunch of people on this board in the above posts think that Clinton is a monster because Clinton's handlers objected to an Obama advisor calling Clinton a monster. If the irony of this is not 10 feet thick, I don't know what is.

How can a group of people claim to being attracted to a candidate because that candidate is somehow preaching a different kind of politics that does not involve character assassination, and the same group of people then spew unbelievable amounts of venom at the opponent of that candidate, on any thing that candidate says or does, simply becuase that candidate is standing in the way of their cult hero? If this is not idolatry gone mad, what is?

The ironic thing is that a whole bunch of these self same Obama supporters say things like "the right wing Christians would crucify Jesus if Jesus was reborn today and started some of the things like love to all, including non-Christians, Gays, and so on". Yet, these same Obama supporters are absolutely stone Clinton and her supporters to death, as in some ghastly Saudi justice system.

Why apologize? Clinton IS a monster -- pond scum in fact. She cares not a whit about her nation or her party -- only herself. She is smart enough to know (1) she can't overtake Obama in elected delegates; (2) she can't overtake Obama in popular vote; and (3) the super delegates will NEVER destroy the Dem party by overruling grass roots voters.

So if there is ZERO chance to be the 2008 nominee, why is she trashing Obama and praising McCain? She wants to run against McCain or some other GOP candidate in 2012, something she thinks she can do if McCain wins. If Obama wins, it would be 2016 at the earliest. Guess what -- after her shameful lies, racial inuendos and deserting her party, she will NEVER EVER be the Dem party nominee.

What about her illegal, risk-free back-dated commodities trades? What about White Water? Where are her tax returns? What did she have to do with the death of Vince Foster? What about lying about her NAFTA positions? What about lying about which campaign contacted Canada with reassurances about NAFTA? What about responding that "So far as she knew Obama isn't a Muslim?" What about darkening his picture on websites? What about sending out the picture of Obama in African garb to imply he's a Muslim? What about saying McCain is ready to be president but Obama is not? How does being married to a President or Governor give her ANY experience? What has she ever done on her own? Why do nearly 50% of Americans hate her so much? Because she is pond scum -- and "monster" is just another short hand way of saying that.

IF you want the occupation to end, then you need to call it that and hold the Military_Industrial_Complex responsible for creating the fiasco, when a sound alternative energy source and a presence in that region and a continued embargo, would have handled everything most efficiently.

IF YOU WANT TO BRING THE USA BACK TO WHERE IT WAS,

you have to fix the infrastructure and hold some people accountable for this fraud, and call it that...arresting and prosecuting, and getting the intelligence industry out from under the president and his "team,"

there is no difference between congress and the executive branch....that goes against the constitution....

why does the National Guard exist?
why is there a "right to bear arms?"

I suggest you quit being meek and acting as if you need permission to support the Constitution and instead ask why the quasi-elected president of these United States doesn't uphold his oath of office?

why do republicans hate america so?

they don't, they're simply put _ignorant_ of their effect.

they don't care about you or their eefects on the world.

because you're not real to them, they haven't encountered you...in some centuries. Do you think bush was feeling for the men and women dying in Vietnam? How could he, no one in his class was _over there_....Rummy Cheyney?

in a certain sense it is "business as usual,"

_they_

are old fashioned rulers.

They rule by ruleset, not by understanding what is happening.

Their words, and actions reflect a lack of appreciation or deeper understanding of what the world is going through...as a whole.

The prattling about democracy for Iraq as Africa is busy going up in flames and aids, and we sell them arms to further inflame their tribal wars....

the thoughtlessness, is evident in that they didn't realize that what the administration was saying was an _obvious_ lie, in light of what was going on in the rest of the world.

The mindset that they have and use is _inherited_.

It's olde European manipulation of wealth by the wealthy...they're not even American in a way...they are Stuarts...royalty. Bush Sr's uncle was part of the West Indies Spice company, which is multiple centuries old and why Poppy was involved with CIA in trying to depose Castro...in the early 50's...family business...not United States.

Rupert Murdoch is of the same molde even if he's newly rich...Austrailian owner of the media who attempted to monopolize it about 10 years ago...all he got was FOX and some others but not controlling interest in World media...they stopped that in California, as he tried to buy up several newspapers and some newscasting agencies.

Newer minds, unfettered by class belief, can see the effects that deals have on "the people," because in an enclosed society...one that has reached it's borders, we affect each other.

For the olde rich, the inherited,

part of the mindset is _they_ "the people" are not of our class and we are not affected by _them_ "the people."

ANY engineer can tell you that all parts of a ecological system affect each other.

Hell Heisenbergs uncertainy principle, tells you that.

READ THIS:
Just as the Iran-Contra scandal evolved to include drug smuggling, the Iraq War also is closely related to drug smuggling. While the Bush regime has so far managed to keep the drug smuggling aspects of the war from reaching the media, evidence is beginning to emerge. The evidence comes largely from a former FBI translator turned whistle-blower, Sibel Edmonds. Hired to translate intercepted messages soon after 9/11 this Turkish lady first blew the whistle on the FBI for dragging its feet. She has state emphatically that she has seen documents that prove the Bush administration was fully aware of the terrorist attack before 9/11. While ATTORNEY GENERAL JOHN ASHCROFT, has imposed a gag order on her, this courageous lady has only been able to speak in generalized terms. However, she has repeatedly stated that when viewed as an international drug smuggling operation the picture becomes clear.

Sibel Edmonds has provided a huge clue in her generalized statements, a clue that points directly at the BUSH FAMILY and DICK CHENEY. Haliburton the oil services company formerly headed by CHENEY has a long history of involvement in drug smuggling and gunrunning especially through its Brown and Root subsidiary. Brown and Root also has a long history of providing cover for CIA agents. In the late 1970s Brown and Root was implicated in drug smuggling and gunrunning from oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico built by Brown and Root and using ships owned by Brown and Root. In the 1990s Brown and Root was implicated in smuggling heroin to Europe through Russia. The heroin originated in Laos.

The Russian incident surfaced in 1995 after thieves stole sacks of heroin concealed as sugar from a rail container leased by Alfa Echo. Authorities were alerted to the problem after residents of Khabarovsk, a Siberian city became intoxicated from consuming the heroin. Alfa Echo is part of the Russian Alfa group of companies controlled by Mikhail Fridman and Pyotr Aven. The FSB, the Russian equivalent of the FBI firmly proved a solid link between Alfa Tyumen and drug smuggling. The drug smuggling route was further exposed after the Ministry of Internal Affairs raided Alfa Eko buildings and found drugs and other compromising documentation. Under Cheney's leadership of Haliburton, Brown and Root received a taxpayer insured loan through the Export-Import Bank of $292 million dollars for Brown and Root to refurbish a Siberian oil field owned by Alfa Tyumen. The Alfa Bank is also implicated in money laundering for the Colombian cocaine cartels.

I am so glad she resigned as this would indeed jeopardize our security overseas and how the world sees us as Americans.

Grackel cackles:
"There's not much difference between McCain and Hillary."

That's a joke, right? McCain is a Bush clone. Does anyone here think that Clinton will turn off key portions of the Constitution? Turn the country in a corporate fascism-ruled nightmare? Ignore the economy until it breaks completely? Turn off habeus corpus? Torture war prisoners, assuring the pain and suffering of *American* prisoners of war? Such a liar, she'd pretend the war is going great and the economy is just fine? Vote against children's health care on the ludicrous premise that it would hurt the BUDGET? Her husband left Worst. President. Ever. with a budget surplus. Think Hillary will turn around and ring up high deficits?

"You're the moron."

You're too stupid to vote. Learn what's going on, or take a vacation. You're one of the reasons we're stuck with Howdy Doody and Cheney the Dick.

HILARY CLINTON IS A MONSTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: lesliedesign2k | March 7, 2008 6:30 PM

I don't see what the problem is. She IS a monster. Ever see what she can do to a small village? It's DISGUSTING.

(What did you think "It Takes A Village" was about, anyway?)

Posted by: BABucher | March 7, 2008 6:27 PM

Hillary Clinton IS a monster.

She is an Obama-eating, happy, election-winning, brilliant female policy-detail spewing monster in a pantsuit who will kick butt while having fun on comedy shows and lighting up the screen with that big, mischievous grin of hers!

Obamatons fear her. Ha ha. Now that is funny.

This is the best election year ever. It's like "American Idol" or "The Apprentice". It's a reality show called "The Candidate".

Don't forget to send donations, however small, to www.hillaryclinton.com. Let's keep this show on the road... Every state they hit, they sign up more Democrats and reintroduce Red Staters to Democratic ideas and values!

Hillary Clinton caught lying, again!

This time, it's about NAFTA, again!

'Clinton Campaign Major Deception Alert: The chief of staff to Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper said that an official from Senator Hillary Clinton's campaign told the Canadian embassy in Washington to take her criticism of the North American Free Trade Agreement with a ``grain of salt,'' the Canadian Press reported. Why wasn't this revealed BEFORE the Ohio primary?'

See Samantha, you don't have to resort to name calling. You just have to tell the truth. Let people use their brains to think up their own opinions of Hillary. Why limit the people's imagination to just one word"?

Posted by: kevinschmidt | March 7, 2008 6:27 PM

Hillary Clinton is a monster because she hasn't released her tax returns yet (she's not required to release them), and the Obama campaign can't wait until April to get them... they have a Ken Starr wannabe on retainer waiting to go on a fishing expedition and he's charging by the hour. Fortunately, Obama's willing to squander poor black folks' money on their obscenely-expensive campaign, including on investigators and lawyers.

DISPATCHES FROM THE GROUND WAR ...

HILLARY TELLS A MONSTER OF A MISREPRESENTATION ....

According to the Associated Press:

Clinton Revises Remark on Women in Miss.

Mar 7 04:07 PM US/Eastern
By SARA KUGLER
Associated Press Writer

'What I said is what I learned is that neither Iowa or Mississippi had ever elected a woman statewide and I REFERENCED THE FACT THAT I WAS THE FIRST WOMAN ELECTED STATEWIDE IN NEW YORK and I told the Iowans that they had a chance to try to change that and now in Mississippi giving Mississippi voters a chance to change that,' Clinton said in the radio interview."

COMMENT: Mrs. Clinton's claim to be the first woman elected statewide in New York shows either the ignorance of a carpetbagger or a willingness to lie about virtually anything in order to get elected.

New York's former Lt. Governors (all elected statewide) are:

Mary O. Donohue (R) Lt. Governor 1999-2007
Elizabeth McCaughey Ross (D) Lt. Governor 1995-1999
Mary Anne Krupsak (D) Lt. Governor 1975-1978

You really want to see a monster? Have Obama ask Hillary time after time in their next debate when she's going to release her tax returns. Time after time. Time after time.

Then stand back and watch her come unhinged. Now THAT'S a monster.

Posted by: waterfrontproperty | March 7, 2008 6:23 PM

None of this matters anymore. There's not going to be a need for any more primaries.

Its over for Obama.

Obama will either drop out of the race or be defeated by huge margins if he's foolish enough to say in after this.

This clip is from Chicago's most respected TV news station.

I'm sorry to burst Obama's supporters bubble, but Obama's much worse than any of us thought. He wasn't even any good at being a state senator.

Nobody in their right mind will support Obama now that we know what a lousy job he did for the people he represented in Chicago, and how he let down the people who trusted him.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDHsHM0laT8&feature=related

According to his own local Chicago Newspapers and TV stations, he was a lousy State Senator.

If he couldn't even handle being a State Senator, why would anyone in their right mind trust him with the Presidency???

Speaking of trust, don't forget Obama's WHOPPER of a LIE during the debates when he claimed to not even know Rezko and that the only connection he had with him was two hours of legal work when he was an associate at a law firm.

Compare that to the fact that Obama knew Rezko for 17 years, that Rezko was a major campaign contributor to every campaign Obama's run, and the "sweetheart" deal Rezko gave him on his house.

It really is "game over" for Obama.

Sorry. Even I didn't expect him to be this incompetent and corrupt.

Gee! When did it become a crime to call something by its proper name? Ms. Power was only using the formal name of the woman as it appears in the dictionary.

Posted by: InHarmsWay | March 7, 2008 6:18 PM

I am always been for the Democrats and now I am extremely disappointed. Is it possible that nobody inside the party has enough moral authority to stand up and call for an end to this political suicide? I have read enough math to understand that it is virtually impossible that Sen. Clinton will reach Sen. Obama as for the number of delegates. Then someone should step up and tell her that for the greater good of her party and of the nation she should get back. I have always been for the Democrats but now I think that they are preparing McCain's presidential chair. I have always been for the Democrats but I start to believe that if they are not in condition to put an end to this useless fight, they shall not win the Presidential election since they will not be able to rule the country anyway. How should they govern the US if they cannot even put order in their own party?
We should concentrate less in the two candidates, Sen. Obama and Sen. Clinton, and start to watch the party and the superdelegates. Until when will they wait to take a position? Until when will they permit this waste of resources, money, human energy? We should start to put pressure on them, we should not tolerate it further: it is time that they assume their own responsibilities!!!

It seems to me that I remember Hillary's comparing Obama to Ken Starr. "Monster," that's laughable: Starr, that's a gutter-level insult.

Posted by: elprimojpvh1 | March 7, 2008 6:17 PM

What bothers me the most is that people like her, a professor at Harvard in her zeal, has let her mouth and not her brain guide her. In my time, 1950s, Professors were people to admire and trust their good judgement as well as their knowledge of their respective fields. I had a professor of Classics and Classical archeology who used to say to his students, "If you graduate from a reputable University you should have some knowledge of all subjects. Drfinetely, this Harvard Professor, like the previosu President of Harvard, Mr. Sommers, do not belong in the professorial ranks. Calling a presidential candidate a "Monster," is not only undignified but pure nonesense. I always thought highly of Harvard, however, lately, I am so proud I did graduate from UCLA, and I shall advise my grandchildren not to apply there.
Another disappointing professorial stupidity was committed last Friday on Bill Moyers Journal, when Ms. Jamieson, Dean of the Annenberg School of Journalish at the University of Pensylvania, gartutiously added that Mr. Obama was raised by his grandparents. Three days before that incident, Mr. Obama was being interviewed on National Television and stated the following: " My father abandoned me and my mother at the age of 2, and I was SOLELY raised by my mother." Whos is lieing here? Ms. Jamieson, or Mr. Obama? Academia is becoming too condescending to the public winds, something that is against what it is supposed to avoid. We do not teach what is politically correct but what IS CORRECT!

Posted by: maitami | March 7, 2008 6:16 PM

Of course Hillary is not a monster: what a silly, stupid, infantile remark by Samantha Power. God help us, if she is a typical example of one of Obama's foreign policy advisers. All the more reason why he shouldn't be in the White House.

Posted by: Couzensjanet | March 7, 2008 6:14 PM

Senator Clinton is a monster who will say anything, do anything in the power grab. No moral compass, anything goes. Do her supporters really endorse this sort of lowest common denominator politics? Americans have in the past elect political "hitmen" who act in ways we would never act and then we look the other way. I mean really, George Bush...two
terms? What the hell was at least half of America thinking?
Senator Obama: You are the candidate of rationality and reason. Take the high road, don't get down in the mud with her. Take your campaign to the next level. Be assertive with your stance of a calm, principled candidacy and presidency. She can't a campaign nevermind the country. Go after her on that basis. Take her apart as a debater takes apart an opponent. Attack her positions. Don't be reactive. Tell America of your vision. What does the future look like embracing the politics of hope rather than the politics of fear (as preached by Bush, McCain and HRC).

Posted by: okjoel | March 7, 2008 6:13 PM

Its appears to me that Hillary Clinton needs to take her lithium pills on a more regular basis. One time she's happy, the next she's crying, the next she's angry, the next she's honored to be on stage with Obama, less than 48 hours later she's cursing him and then she's spewing hate and then she's praising John McCain and smiling , then she's filled with hate toward Obama again, and then she's all smiley and jokey.I think she's got multiple personality syndrome. And you want this mental case with her hand on the button to launch an H-bomb? Oh, sorry Russia- I was having a bad day and feeling melancholy. Hey, you can't bomb the U.S. I was just having a Sybil moment.

Posted by: majorteddy | March 7, 2008 6:09 PM

Today we officially have a campaign race. We are finally arguing about something with substance, namely, who stinks the least!

Don't worry about having to hold your nose come Election Day, I have clothes pins for sale. Any takers? They're real cheap. I got them from government tax breaks designed to increase the destruction and harvesting of ancient forests for the benefit of the corporatocracy, and our our little dirty habit, which is mass consumption of small convenient disposable items. That includes our flimsy, over priced, over taxed homes too.

Ain't our government a big fat waste of our time and money?

Long live Lakotah!

OOPS, SHE FLIP FLOPS AGAIN ....

Clinton Revises Remark on Women in Miss.

Mar 7 04:07 PM US/Eastern
By SARA KUGLER
Associated Press Writer

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - Democratic presidential contender Hillary Rodham Clinton tried to backpedal Friday from comments she made in October suggesting Mississippi was a backward place for women's progress.

Speaking to radio station WJZD-FM in Gulfport, Miss., the former first lady said the comments she made about the state in the run up to the Iowa caucuses "were not exactly what I said," even though they came directly from an interview she gave to the Des Moines Register in October.

Clinton was on a campaign swing through Mississippi before Tuesday's Democratic presidential primary.

The newspaper quoted the New York senator discussing Iowa and Mississippi being the only states that have never elected a woman governor or sent a woman to Congress. ...

If Hillary claims experience in foreign affairs, then let her share responsibility for her husband's immoral inaction on Rwanda, when hundreds of thousands of Africans were slaughtered while the Clinton White House refused to act.

(According to the British Guardian newspaper: "President Bill Clinton's administration knew Rwanda was being engulfed by genocide in April 1994 but buried the information to justify its inaction, according to classified documents made available for the first time. ...

"It took Hutu death squads three months from April 6 to murder an estimated 800,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus and at each stage accurate, detailed reports were reaching Washington's top policymakers." [http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2004/mar/31/usa.rwanda])

Read above for the true NAFTA story, as we know it so far.

On Canadian news sources, in reference to the possibility that Clinton's side talked NAFTA to Canada's govt,, all claims are surrounded by "allegedly", "purportedly", "denied". Brodie, the alleged source of the Clinton call info, doesn't recall any such thing.

I know Obamans would like to turn this around to point at Clinton, but you're batting zero right now.

Meanwhile, there is a memo describing Obama's position, which Canada doesn't deny. They just say the person who wrote it misunderstood.

I thought Obama decried rumor-mongering.

Posted by: hitpoints | March 7, 2008 6:01 PM

The lady was being overly polite when she referred to Hillary as a "Monster". Reviewing Hillary's methodical playing of the "Race card", and "The Perpetual Victim" against Obama; her inability to control her own campaign finances; and, her recent commentary on: Iraq; Pakistan; Energy Policy; her stated intention to confiscate the profits of American energy companies; the need for her to control the 14 Trillion $ American Economy from her White House Politburo, since she has declared the free-market to be a failure (this from a woman who hasn't managed so much as a corner vegetable stand, or for that matter her own marriage; but, of course you could count Whitewater, and her tenure as "Madam" and Bimbo Containment Chief for Bill's White House Brothel); her Marxist statement in San Francisco: "We're going to have to take more from you, and give it to others for the common good."; Illegal Immigration; Taxes; Infanticide; Massive new Government spending; Multi million $ Senate earmarks for supporters of Hillary's Presidential campaign; Garnishing of your wages to fund her coveted Socialized medicine program; and, the Clinton's history of emasculating the military, verifies that this grievously flawed woman would be the female version of the Jimmy Carter debacle that gave us the Ayatollah Khomeini who ushered in rampant Islamic radicalism; block-long lines at our gasoline stations; a severely hollow military; and, a record Misery Index. Only much worse. Considering all of Hillary's recent gaffes, e.g. "I voted FOR IT (referring to the Bankruptcy Bill); but, I was glad to see that it didn't pass."; and, her increasingly frequent crying jags, one has to wonder if excessive use of Botox has affected her mental stability. It's no wonder that her campaign staff is shielding her from reporter and audience unscripted questions. The prospect of Madam Hillary as President; in a word: TERRIFYING. Greg Neubeck

Posted by: gneubeck | March 7, 2008 6:00 PM

Oh, nonsense, teecrisis: Power's attack on Clinton wasn't off the record at all. She uttered the needless insult and then added "that's off the record" -- which is not how off the record works. The correct way, which Power knows, has known for years, is to set ground rules for the interview at the start, not to utter some stupid and unpleasant remark and then tell the reporter not to use it.

Power's post-booboo remarks with their oily praise for the Clinton she'd just been stabbing in the back make it clear she's a shallow hypocrite as well as a badmouthed backstabber.

Was she promised some senior appointment in thanks for her help in the campaign these past 14 months? Since she's supposed to be an expert on international ffairs, can we now hope the Obama campaign will make it clear that she's to get no high-level appointment to a government under Obama administration?

So much for the high-minded oratory of the Obama camp, so much for the lofty (and false) rhetoric of "Change!"

This is just old fashion anger and mean spiritedness.

Obama should be thankful this fellow elite Harvard egg-head, the founder and executive directer of Harvard's Carr Center for Human Rights Policy, is gone.

Michael Ignatieff, the Center's Directer whom Power personally recruited advocated in and April 2002 op-ed in the London Guardian that the U.S. commit its military forces to military duty on the ground in Israel to force a peace settlement on them and the Palestinians.

This position was reinforces by Power in a interview at Berkley two weeks when she said the about the US's involvement "it may more crucially mean sacrificing--or investing, I think, more than sacrificing--billions of dollars, not in servicing Israel's military, but actually investing in the new state of Palestine, in investing the billions of dollars it would probably take, also, to support what will have to be a mammoth protection force..."

What? Are Arab nations in the region broke all of a sudden, or does she harbor that elite Harvard notion that it is always the US's responsibility to shell out the dough.

Now, Obama has made great hay about knowing when to use military force, about not attacking nations who are not enemies of the US, but he has, until now, a close intellectual adviser who would have the US attack its own allies and shell out BILLIONS of the taxpayer's hard earned dollars to do it.

I will grant you that our alliance with Israel has been strained from time to time, and our alliance with Israel and other nations needs to be reviewed, refined, or terminated when it is in the best interests of the nation, but come on! Using our military and money to force a settlement on the opposing parties is egg-headed nonsense of the sort that gets our young men and women killed and bleeds our treasury for unrealistic and unattainable plans.

Even Ignatieff, who has since moved on to real world politics in Canada, has had a "come to Jesus moment" about elite institutions like Harvard when he wrote:

"As a former denizen of Harvard, I've had to learn that a sense of reality doesn't always flourish in elite institutions. It is the street virtue par excellence. Bus drivers can display a shrewder grasp of what's what than Nobel Prize winners."

These are the sort of people Obama surrounds himself with for foreign policy expertise?

I think Obama is ok...good speaker...lots of potential. Would he make a good President? Maybe -- I don't know.

I can't stand Hillary Clinton. I think she is arrogant. I thinks she is as phoney as a 3-dollar bill. I am sick and tired of her husband. I think she would the most polarizing President since - ummm -- the current idiot.

Anyone who looks at the empirical evidence can only come to one conclusion--Power is right. The Clinton's feign innocence and proclaim themselves the victims of all sorts of conspiracies. They, however, play the same sort of politics that Rove does. Only those who sweep facts under their ideological rugs can't see this.

stegam5,
Lets face it she is a monster. If Obama is afraid to say it I will. She is trying to destroy all hope for this country by operating a campaign that is focused on her own ego. Half of the country doesn't like her or her husband, so the characterization of her being a monster is correct. Let' not forget how Bill put disgrace on the office of President by chasing women and then lying about it. And, When he got caught he looked like an idiot, and took the attention of government from real issues like terroism.
