McCain Sees the Doc

Republican presidential candidate, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., speaks to reporters in Phoenix, Ariz., Monday, March 10, 2008.(AP.)
By Michael D. Shear
Sen. John McCain went to the doctor's today as reporters intensified their grilling about the 71-year-old Republican nominee's medical condition.
"He is perfectly fine and we'll do the full health release in a month or so," communication director Jill Hazelbaker said.
If he wins in November, McCain would be the oldest president elected to the office. In addition to his age, McCain was diagnosed in 2000 with skin cancer and had surgery.
McCain told reporters today that "Everything's fine...Like most Americans, I go see my doctor fairly frequently," according to the Associated Press.

ha! "CHOOSE" ?!
can I afford health insurance... sure.
if I CHOOSE not to pay for my already mandatory car insurance.
if I CHOOSE to never put gas in my car and drive to work.
if I CHOOSE to eat cheap noodles once a day and drink tap water to survive.
if I simply CHOOSE not to pay for anything extra in life like a phone, heat, the occasional date, access to the internet etc...
maybe then I can feel better about my CHOICE to opt out of health care.
until then... I'll just continue to be a part of the middle class.
a class that is apparently supposed to feel bad for not being poor enough to be poor and not being rich enough to understand why no one thinks anything is wrong with the US health care system.

Well, that is good that he is getting medical check ups as a potential presidential candidate should. Like others that have commented, millions of Americans are without health insurance simply because they can not afford it. People at lower to middle incomes have to cut corners, and insurance is just one item. Employers have not picked up this benefit, and many employers have outsourced our jobs, so what happens next? Housing first skyrockets, then plummets because of the mortgage scandal, and people are now without homes. Rentals are just as exhorbitant, oil prices keep rising increasing everything we buy including food costs. Does anyone in Washington care about the people here in the US? The rich get richer and to "H_LL" with any one else it seems. Profits are at an all time high for the major corporations while the people are struggling to make ends meet.

I thought Thompson looked old. McCain looks positively ancient. I think people whose last sighting of the good senator was circa 2000 will be jarred a bit.

"Plenty of those people CHOOSE not to have health insurance"

=============
"Plenty" is slippery. So's "CHOOSE".
How many of 45 million constitutes "plenty"?
If I don't hock my house to buy health insurance, did I "choose" to do without it?
I don't think anyone condisers the problem to lie with healthy, wealthy people not buying insurance, do you?

mcamele:
Why do you think that "Most Americans do not have insurance at all . . ."? The highest estimates I've seen are 43 - 46 million Americans do not have health insurance (and most of those can get State-provided ER care at least). Plenty of those people CHOOSE not to have health insurance. But, don't tell me, you actually think the U.S. has the highest number of infants who die as well?

"Everything's fine...Like most Americans, I go see my doctor fairly frequently,"
Unfortunately, most Americans do not see their doctors frequently...unless they have the best insurance OUR money can buy like the Congress has. Most Americans do not have insurance at all and don't have access to doctors for health problems let alone routine visits...Perhaps that will change after November.

Gee, must be nice to have taxpayer-funded health care. Unfortunately, "most Americans" are on their own, and do not see the doctor frequently.
Glad John McCain likes the government health care that we're buying for him.
