To the Cheers of Her Supporters, Clinton Vows, 'I Never Quit'

A supporter holds up a sign saying "Don't Quit", left, as Democratic presidential hopeful, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.), campaigns at King's College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., April 1, 2007. (AP.)
By Perry Bacon Jr.
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. -- Can the wife of an ex-president, backed by hundreds of people who have donated $2,300 to her campaign, really be an underdog?
Hillary Clinton is trying. She walked onto the stage here as the theme music to "Rocky" played, after earlier invoking the fictional boxer in a speech.
"I know what it's like to stumble. I know what it means to get knocked down, but I've never stayed down. I never will -- and neither will you and neither will America," she said Tuesday at meeting of the AFL-CIO in Philadelphia.
"Senator Obama says he's getting tired of the campaign. His supporters say they want it to end," Clinton added. "Could you imagine if Rocky Balboa had gotten halfway up those stairs and said, 'Well, I guess that's about far enough,'? That's not the way it works. Let me tell you something, when it comes to finishing the fight, Rocky and I have a lot in common. I never quit. I never give up."
At nearly every event now, Clinton or one of her backers her accuse Obama of trying to end the voting process, while her supporters shout, "No!" and "Don't quit!"
"He said it was like a movie that has gone on too long," Clinton said, referring to an Obama joke from last week about the long primary contest. "Well, we haven't even gotten to the part that includes Pennsylvania," she said here to loud applause.
Clinton may be an underdog in the Democratic race, but not here; she leads in every poll. And Obama advisers have encouraged supporters to stop trying to push Clinton out of the race.
They're right to do so. As Clinton campaigns around the state, nothing gets louder applause than her pledges to keep campaigning, which seems to have galvanized her crowds, which are full of women over 40.
"There's a sign over there which says don't quit," Clinton said. "I thought the Democrats and Americans believed in letting people vote. I am doing everything I can to make sure that, from Pennsylvania to Puerto Rico, people have a chance to vote."

Seems it's Hillary against not only Obama but CNN, ABC, MSNBC and other media. Who's doing the new polls? What are they asking? Are they as biased as the media? I'm a news and political junkie and used to watch them all. I'm sick of the Hillary bashing and the Obama gushing. My husband and I have never voted Republican but if Obama is the Dem. choice, that may change. I can't believe he could sit in that church and allow his children to hear that vitriolic language if he didn't agree.

Straightmedia, excuse cousin trouble. Obama (didn´t) said (say) that Dick Cheney was his cousin! One of my own cousins were Winston Churchill. As a matter of fact he was my 8th cousin but he wasn´t aware of that important fact. When I tell my freinds that this famous man was my cousin they think that I am crazy and I don´t blame them.

They may all be his cousins. Obama already
said Republicans were the "party of ideas"
for the last 15 years...
Obama won't even stand for universal
health insurance for chrissakes. Ideas,
indeed. Bad ideas...

Too many people, such as sexist old white men (like Patrick Leahy)are calling for Senator Clinton to step down. That is not the way democracy works. It is not even the way a race works. We don't quit at the 300 yard line in a 500 yard race; we don't stop the game in the 7th inning.
I want a president who never gives up the fight for what is right for the American people. Senator Clinton has every right - even the responsibility to work and campaign until the last vote is counted.
She continues to overcome obstacles - such as the biased media - and she presses on. That is the determination I want in a president.
Posted by: Kansas28 | April 2, 2008 3:30 PM
Correction: Obama didn´t said that Dick Cheney was his cousin! However 8th or 10th cousins are hardly not even relatives at all.
Posted by: royrichard | April 2, 2008 3:20 PM
Today in Pennsylvania Barack Obama said that McCain is his cousin. That´s a GREATER LIE than the firing at Clintons visit to Bosnia. Why did he really mention it?!
Facts about the Ancestry of Barack Obama, compiled by William Addams Reitwiesner: "The following material on the immediate ancestry of Barack Obama should not be considered either exhaustive or authoritative, but rather as a first draft". That meens it´s not even certain that it´s true!
But that´s not my point. Whay did he lie about McCain? Is his purpose to try to achieve sympathy from somebody?
Posted by: royrichard | April 2, 2008 3:09 PM
FACTS:
We cannot compare the Democratic and Republican process of selecting a candidate. The Clinton/Obama scenerio is totally different than McCain/Huckabee. Neither Democratic candidate has enough delegates to reach the 2024 goal. Senator Clinton has every right to stay in this race.
Obama had his chance to wrap this up with Ohio and Texas.....he didn't.
If Obama wins Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Indiana then the Democratic party should step in and stop this process.
This process has been tame compared to others in the past. The problem is the Democrats have two very strong candidates. Even if the primaries go into June it will not hurt Democrats chances of winning the general election. They have the economy, Iraq war, healthcare issues in their favor.
I see a lot of hatred on this board. Hey guys, Obama and Clinton are both politicians. They will say whatever they think the people want to hear. Clinton has more history than Obama, but his record is not clean either.
Hillary Clinton is running, not her husband.
My last point....every one wants change, but it won't happen. Lobbyist and special interest groups will always be a part of Wash DC. Democrats and Republicans will always have their differences.

To you. Others thought that of the two, only
Obama claimed the self-credibility mantle.
Hillary has been branded a liar for 16 years -
it's baked in at this point. All Pols lie, including
Obama. The difference for Hillary is, she has a
track record of fighting for Progressive values
like universal health care. Americans know
she will go to war on her issues. She has
walked the walk.
Obama, is new to everyone. Impressions on him
are shallow and alterable. If he talks racial unity
but it turns out he has been patronizing a race-
divisive lunatic for 20 years, that hurts him.
And he knows it - which is why his story about
involvement in TUCC keeps changing.
If you don't think it will turn out to be a problem for
him amongst Caucasians in the remaining primaries,
suit yourself.

A widely forwarded e-mail claims that Obama's bills are more substantive and numerous than Clinton's. Don't believe it.
Summary
A misleading e-mail has been making the rounds, alleging that Clinton has fewer legislative accomplishments than Obama, and that they are less substantive. We've had questions about it from a number of readers, and blogs have jumped into the fray.
So what's the real story on the Senate careers of the Democratic presidential candidates?
We find that the e-mail is FALSE in almost every particular:
• It sets up a face-off between apples and, well, broccoli, comparing only the Clinton-sponsored bills that became law with all bills sponsored or cosponsored by Obama, whether they were signed into law or not.
• It includes legislation Obama sponsored in the Illinois state Senate, a very different legislative body.
• It tells us that Obama has sponsored more legislation than Clinton, when in fact he has sponsored less.
• It implies that Obama has passed more bills into law than Clinton, when the opposite is true.
Contrary to the e-mail's assertions, Clinton's and Obama's contributions are not qualitatively different, and quantitatively, CLINTON HAS THE EDGE..
AND THE RECORDS?
Here's how FactCheck.org tallies the real breakdown of bills
sponsored by the candidates in the U.S. Senate.
Years in Senate ----------------------- Obama: 3 ------ Clinton: 7
Bills Sole Original Sponsor-------- Obama: 129 --- Clinton: 358
Bills Passed by Senate-------- ----- Obama: 7 --- Clinton: 32
Bills Signed into Law ---------------- Obama: 2 --- Clinton: 19
Bills Sponsored, per year ---------- Obama: 43 --- Clinton: 51.1
Bill passed by Senate, per year--- Obama: 2.3 --- Clinton: 4.6
Bills Signed into Law, per year--- Obama: 0.7 --- Clinton: 2.7

Most, if not all, the people we vote in the white house has been politicians. As Hillary, they are honest that they are politicians. So, we know that they have their warts, and so forth, when we elect them.
Obama, on the hand, is a liberal democrat by his record, but with his words, tries to disguise himself as 'change'.
Obama and his supporters are playing typical dirty politic; his supporters play the bad cop and Obama plays the good cop. No matter what, the bad cop/good cop routine are very much coordinated!
Obama is anti-white and anti-american, divisive and devious.

Hillary Clinton has purhaps not realised that the Internet is transforming the way we engage with this never-ending presidential campaign.
However, can anybody tell me if Barack Obama has made any obvious contributions to American welfare? He is not that young. He should be discounted in the media and on the internet as a narcissistic person who makes bombastical statesments in order to draw attention to himself rather than to comment on issues of the day. Obama goes basketball, holiday, bowling for photo attention etc.etc.. while Hillary Clinton meets with disgruntled truckers despite spitting rain. He has learnt to keep his chin high and his eyes are looking down at you. No real human feelings.
And media like CNN continuelsy kicks Chelsea Clinton´s ankles to hurt as much as possible. Great media and not truthworthy internet Obama-followers.

A supposed quote in the article from Hillary-land: That's not the way it works. Let me tell you something, when it comes to finishing the fight, Rocky and I have a lot in common. I never quit. I never give up."
THAT IS NOT WHAT SHE SAID. She said "...I never quit. I never GET up."
Watch the tape. It is very clear. Try to get your quotes right. The point is she is saying words given to her by others and she doesn't even know what they mean.

AN OPEN LETTER TO HILLARY CLINTON
BY JUANITA BROADDRICK
'DO YOU REMEMBER?'
SUNDAY OCT 15, 2000
As I watched Rick Lazio's interview on Fox News this morning, I felt compelled to write this open letter to you, Mrs. Clinton. Brit Hume asked Mr. Lazio's views regarding you as a person and how he perceived you as a candidate. Rick Lazio did not answer the question, but I know that I can. You know it, too.
I have no doubt that you are the same conniving, self-serving person you were twenty-two years ago when I had the misfortune to meet you. When I see you on television, campaigning for the New York senate race, I can see the same hypocrisy in your face that you displayed to me one evening in 1978. You have not changed.
I remember it as though it was yesterday. I only wish that it were yesterday and maybe there would still be time to do something about what your husband, Bill Clinton, did to me. There was a political rally for Mr. Clinton's bid for governor of Arkansas. I had obligated myself to be at this rally prior to my being assaulted by your husband in April, 1978. I had made up my mind to make an appearance and then leave as soon as the two of you arrived. This was a big mistake, but I was still in a state of shock and denial. You had questioned the gentleman who drove you and Mr. Clinton from the airport. You asked him about me and if I would be at the gathering. Do you remember? You told the driver, "Bill has talked so much about Juanita", and that you were so anxious to meet me. Well, you wasted no time. As soon as you entered the room, you came directly to me and grabbed my hand. Do you remember how you thanked me, saying "we want to thank you for everything that you do for Bill". At that point, I was pretty shaken and started to walk off. Remember how you kept a tight grip on my hand and drew closer to me? You repeated your statement, but this time with a coldness and look that I have seen many times on television in the last eight years. You said, "Everything you do for Bill". You then released your grip and I said nothing and left the gathering.
What did you mean, Hillary? Were you referring to my keeping quiet about the assault I had suffered at the hands of your husband only two weeks before? Were you warning me to continue to keep quiet? We both know the answer to that question.
Yes, I can answer Brit Hume's question. You are the same Hillary that you were twenty years ago. You are cold, calculating and self-serving. You cannot tolerate the thought that you will soon be without the power you have wielded for the last eight years. Your effort to stay in power will be at the expense of the state of New York. I only hope the voters of New York will wake up in time and realize that Hillary Clinton is not an honorable or an honest person.
I will end by asking if you believe the statements I made on NBC Dateline when Lisa Myers asked if I had been assaulted and raped by your husband? Or perhaps, you are like Vice-President Gore and did not see the interview.

One last thought on the idea of Hillary as Rocky. It seems that no one here has mentioned the obvious flaw in that comparison, which is that, yes, Rocky may have gone the distance, but in the end he LOST to Obama... er, Apollo Creed.
The parallel seems apt, of course. Hillary, like Rocky, knows she's outclassed and is fighting to the end not to win (which she can't), but to satisfy her ego and inflict as much damage as possible on her opponent. The problem between that movie and real life is that, by continuing to selfishly damage the eventual party nominee, Hillary's doing the most harm not to Obama, but rather to the Democratic Party and the future of this country.
Rocky was a heroic figure; Hillary is a spiteful, unpatriotic narcissist who would rather see four more years of GOP rule than to allow someone who's beaten her fairly to proceed to his well-earned win in November. And this is the person that we should want to have as America's first woman president? Why?

ralphdaugherty: "whatmeregister polluted the thread with this: "She said more than a week ago that she expected to be releasing them "within the next week.""
"She said she'd be releasing her taxes around April 15. What a whiner."
Poor Ralph,
You really need to keep track of your own candidate's statements before you start worrying about what the other guy said. Bloomberg News quoted Hillary as saying on March 24 that she would release her records "within the next week," not "around April 15." And she still has no explanation as to why she can't release the records from 2001-2006 immediately; those were already filed long ago.
A friend in the IRS mentioned to me that one possible explanation for the footdragging is that the Clintons might be trying to refile those prior years' returns, amending them as "married filing separately" instead of "married filing jointly" so as to avoid any embarrassing disclosures involving Bill's questionable finances (Yucaipa, Ron Burkle, Dubai, etc.). She said that, should Hillary and Bill want to refile separate sets of tax returns for those years, it would require IRS permission and significant refiguring to calculate the tax liability of each Clinton individually. Once they're refiled, Hillary could then release HER returns without having to reveal any details about Bill's sources of income. Apparently this is a very rare procedure. If we ever do get to see those returns we'll know if my friend's theory is correct.

People who vote for Obama. Do any of you put your hand across your heart to the Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag? Do any of you stand and look at the Flag of the USA when speaking the pledge?
I attended the caucus in Texas. Two Obama people were next to me as the opening Pledge was spoken. They Both held their heads and eyes downcast to the floor. No words were spoken.

svreader,
Obama got more delegates in the second part of the Texas Two-Step than Hillary (99-94) and got one more delegate in Mississippi and one delegate less for Hillary (originally 19-14, now 20-13 and the results are certified). Isn't that great news!! And guess what? It is not an April Fools' joke (unlike your belief that Hillary will get the nomination). Have a nice day.
Sincerely,

Senator Clinton continues to accuse Senator Obama for urging her to drop out of the race and that his campaign is trying to block a MI & FL re-vote - Senator Obama has unequivocally stated the opposite in both cases. When is Senator Clinton going to stop twisting the truth. She has a huge credibility problem.
My guess is that she is continuing to participate in the race to secure her the VP spot. Nothing wrong with that - more integrity and grace will be more beneficial if she wants the VP spot. I expect a lot more surprises from Senator Clinton as the race continues - just wait for her tax returns to be released.

I can't wait til she squeeks by in PA, but garners fewer delegates, as in Texas, then gets spanked badly in NC and less badly in IN. then we'll see hillary quit alright. No one will give her a dime then and she'll be out like a light.

NEO-CONS FOR HILLARY ! ! !
Pretend that you're a Democrat (Hillary supporter)
Smear Obama with any of the following:
1. He's a Muslim
2. He's not Black enough
3. He's not White enough
4. He's not patriotic
5. He's a racist
note: never address any "issues", instead smear him with any association: his pastor, someone who endorses him, his wife, his father, etc. always make racist commments (i.e. compare him to Jim Jones), put his middle name in capital letters...and MOST IMPORTANT repeat it over and over (check FoxNews for latest smear)
remember: Americans are stupid! (look how we got them in the Iraq war!)
if you repeat anything enough, they'll believe it.
then
SAY IF OBAMA IS NOMINATED, YOU WON'T VOTE DEMOCRATIC IN NOVEMBER
* note: this is generally true, but if Hillary is nominated, it doesn't matter who gets elected...you can vote for whomever you want....McCain is slightly better, but both are in our lobby's pocket, i.e. both Clinton and McCain will put America in our WARS
THE NEOCON LOBBY OWNS BOTH MCCAIN AND HILLARY.
but not Obama
WE MUST STOP OBAMA !

Hillary, do not let for a minute any of these dirty Chicago politics influence you and I know that you see through this smokescreen what the real motivation is: FEAR!!!
FEAR because the Rev. Wright issue has not really gone away and smart Americans will recognize this when the vote is given.
FEAR because the UNKNOWN Obama is unraveling to us to show all the many contradictions he creates.
FEAR because Obama really, really does not want to appear and do another debate with Hillary.
FEAR because all of the underhanded deals and opposition to block a Florida and Michigan RE-VOTE would come back to haunt Obama.
FEAR because all of the dirty deals with REZCO will surface as the trial goes on. Fear because he could be summoned to release his State records as a Senator.
FEAR because all of his radical leftist alliances will come to the surface and it will be revealed who Obama really is.
FEAR because Americans will come out of the trance they are and realize that this candidate is sadly who he is.
FEAR because Americans will think carefully about what Obama and Change really means.
Fear because JUDGEMENT, CHARACTER AND TRUSTWORTHINESS would be revealed as characteristics that Obama does not have.
FEAR because of the implications of his potential radical agenda on the safety of our nation and radical policy changes that could create a major problem with the Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations. What about a radical change in policy that could affect our relationship with the moderate muslim countries and our allies?
Fear because this candidate does not have a track record of deeds that can help us make a decision based on true accomplishments rather than taking him at his words or promises. History has a way of repeating itself and can we afford to throw the future of this country into the hands of an UNKNOWN?
FEAR because the truth is that Obama is the weaker candidate and he will lose this election in November. The Republicans are ready and fully loaded.
FEAR because the TRUTH will be revealed about the dirty political tactics used in the CAUCUSES by the Obama surrogates to scare and coerce participants to vote. This process will be unraveled for a process opened to fraud and many Litigations could follow!!!
So, America open your eyes to the real thruth behind this charade that is Obama and give your vote to who we know can win this election: Hillary Clinton!!!

Hillary has already established herself as a second rate liar. Now she is competing with George Bush on the "I'm not a quitter" platform. The Republicans and Bush refused to "quit" on the war and they don't want Hillary to quit this nomination contest. Rush even has a strategy to try to keep Hillary in the race. Even Obama suggests that she stay in as long as she likes.

We need a leader who stands for everyone. We need to tart talking about issues of identity and how our potential leaders will take up real problems that the youth face.
i am a fat girl, and while it bothers me in heath issues, thats about it. but i became aware recently that people dont respect skinny people. those kids we call bean poles, anorexic, tiny and make jokes about their stick like appendages have feelings too. and while our society has come a long way towards being sensitive about the obesity problem, nobody cares about the thin people. they think that since theyre thin, they have no problems, so a little teasing wont hurt, right? wrong. it hurts regardless of what u look like. and i just wish people would keep that in mind. confused

Obama bashers on the subject of him being "law professor" (note, not Professor of Law, those are different things):
Statement Regarding Barack Obama
The Law School has received many media requests about Barack Obama, especially about his status as "Senior Lecturer."
From 1992 until his election to the U.S. Senate in 2004, Barack Obama served as a professor in the Law School. He was a Lecturer from 1992 to 1996. He was a Senior Lecturer from 1996 to 2004, during which time he taught three courses per year. Senior Lecturers are considered to be members of the Law School faculty and are regarded as professors, although not full-time or tenure-track. The title of Senior Lecturer is distinct from the title of Lecturer, which signifies adjunct status. Like Obama, each of the Law School's Senior Lecturers has high-demand careers in politics or public service, which prevent full-time teaching. Several times during his 12 years as a professor in the Law School, Obama was invited to join the faculty in a full-time tenure-track position, but he declined. Can I call you an idiot when Hillary drops out? Then she collects her $5 Million with months of interest added from her campaign?
Come back right here and I will on that day!
Understandable woman want Hillary to rise, but what's with you? Got a hankering for Bill again?
Many reference Bill is beneficial to Hillary.
Will Bill have same importance as Vice President? Is he sitting in on policy meetings like NAFTA AGAIN! Will Bill be at the State Department fiddling around? Bill talking to Congress. Bill going anywhere on Air Force 2 on his whim?
Who is paying for Bill flying around now?
Some new Federal position title created for Bill, he'll need a large staff!
The guy who pulled his pants down for selfish pleasure in the wrong places, yes, you want him in the White House again?
Ralph, some personal choices aren't forgivable.
I don't want Bill back in the White House, too bad for Hillary. Their behaviour in the past caused this problem today.
Not too bad for her actually, the $5 Million loan will gain interest!

Dave27 wrote: "Early February Hillary said she loaned her campaign $5 million because her campaign was running out of money, and couldn't pay her staff."
You are doubly mistaken. She said she loaned her campaign $5 million to be competitive for Super Tuesday. She wanted to do more ad buys than she had campaign donations for.
Also, the staff was always paid, some volunteered to go without pay to help out but were paid anyway.
Let's just say I trust Hillary a lot more than you.

Obama says he has no Illinois records
http://www.pantagraph.com/articles/2007/11/15/news/doc473b8492b009e593715711.txt
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Barack Obama, who's been scolding Hillary Rodham Clinton for not hastening the release of records from her time as first lady, says he can't step up and produce his own records from his days in the Illinois state Senate. He says he hasn't got any.
"I don't have - I don't maintain - a file of eight years of work in the state Senate because I didn't have the resources available to maintain those kinds of records," he said at a recent campaign stop in Iowa. He said he wasn't sure where any cache of records might have gone, adding, "It could have been thrown out. I haven't been in the state Senate now for quite some time."
Obama's statement that he has no papers from his time in the Illinois statehouse - he left in 2004 - stands in stark contrast to the massive Clinton file stored at the National Archives: an estimated 78 million pages of documents, plus 20 million e-mail messages, packed into 36,000 boxes. While any file from Obama's time in the state Senate would be far smaller, the idea that no papers exist at all is questioned by one historian.
"Most of those guys do keep this stuff, especially the favorable stuff. They've all got egos," said Taylor Pensoneau, a historian who has written about Illinois legislators and governors and worked with them as a lobbyist for the coal industry. "It goes in scrapbooks or maybe boxes. I don't think it's normal practice to say it's all discarded."

The reasons why Obama is winning the nomination against Clinton and why he will win the general election against McCain are the following...
With McCain, we have someone who lives for wars and who is missing the heros of WW-II (see the reference to Churchill in one of McCain's publicity). We also have someone who didn't object to the idea of starting a war under false pretenses.
With Hillary Clinton, we have someone who is associated to too many scandals with her husband before, during and after the White House:
- Most number of convictions and guilty pleas by friends and associates
- Most number of cabinet officials to come under criminal investigation
- Most number of witnesses to flee country or refuse to testify
- Most number of witnesses to die suddenly
- First first lady to come under criminal investigation
- Largest criminal plea agreement in an illegal campaign contribution case
- First president to establish a legal defense fund.
- First president to be held in contempt of court
- Greatest amount of illegal campaign contributions
- Greatest amount of illegal campaign contributions from abroad
- First president disbarred from the US Supreme Court and a state court
Before Bill left office, he gave favors in exchange of money... For example, shortly after beeing pardonned by President Clinton, fugitive financier Marc Rich had his ex-wife giving $400 000 to the Clintons library foundation: Source:
http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,98756,00.html
The Clinton foundation received recently a $31.3 million donation after Bill expressed enthusiastic support for the Kazakh leader's, undercuting both American foreign policy and sharp criticism of Kazakhstan's poor human rights: Source: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/31/us/politics/31donor.html
The reasons why Obama is winning against Clinton and why he will win against McCain are that voters are sick of people starting wars for false pretenses and they are sick of corrupted politicians (I include the Clintons and some of their pundits who have been allies in their past scandals).

I'm still counting days and waiting to see Hillary "sniper-fire" Clinton's tax returns.
Initially she said she will release them before April 15th. Then she said she will release them at least three days before PA primary.
I want to know why she is hiding her tax returns.
I want to know where she made he millions.
Some say she and her hubby made money writing books and doing speeches. If that is the case, then whats with the delay? If all is legal and cool, then why hide the returns?
Hillary "sniper-fire" Clinton cannot be trusted.

The advantage of the Democratic race going on a long time is that in each state many new voters are being registered, and that's very good.
The disadvantage to Obama is that he may lose his big lead, and all his bragging rights, and the ultimate thing may happen to him which is a total loss of credibility as a politician.
Go Hillary Go! Hillary has Guts. The cry's for her to drop out look like cowardice.
I'd love to see what change Obama would bring as a Senator. He did promise the people of Illinois, he would serve his full term if elected Senator.

Day by day Obama is being vetted -- slowly because he has David Axelrod the vicious mayor Daly Press Agent, placing all the press claiming Obama is something he's not.
Then he buys a lot of media so those venues and news networks do not want to bite the hands that feed them. Americans are not that stupid. Obama may have had the press on pins and needles for a long time, because he was accusing poeple of racism, but the truth is sinking in about Obama and he's a fraud.
He says one thing and his voting record proves another, those are the true facts. Sometimes people are very good con artists.
Obama is scared to death the election will go on too long and his claims of being New and different will be see for what they really are, BS.

I'm glad she's not quitting. Why? Because when the lights go out and it's time for someone to be the President, I want someone who knows their stuff, knows the situation, and can offer solutions (even if they're not the best). I don't want a guy waiting for his speech writer or a teleprompter.
Look at the past debates, you'll see who the more capable candidate is. She's not likable, but in terms of health care, foreign policy, and the economy, she knows her stuff. You're not hiring a drinking buddy, you're hiring a President.
Bush campaigned on change - he promised to be a uniter - and look at the change that has happened in the last seven years.

From Newsweek --
A misleading e-mail has been making the rounds, alleging that Clinton has fewer legislative accomplishments than Obama, and that they are less substantive. We've had questions about it from a number of readers, and blogs have jumped into the fray. So what's the real story on the Senate careers of the Democratic presidential candidates?
We find that the e-mail is false in almost every particular:
It sets up a face-off between apples and, well, broccoli, comparing only the Clinton-sponsored bills that became law with all bills sponsored or cosponsored by Obama, whether they were signed into law or not.
It includes legislation Obama sponsored in the Illinois state Senate, a very different legislative body.
It tells us that Obama has sponsored more legislation than Clinton, when in fact he has sponsored less.
It implies that Obama has passed more bills into law than Clinton, when the opposite is true.
Contrary to the e-mail's assertions, Clinton's and Obama's contributions are not qualitatively different, and quantitatively, Clinton has the edge.

Did Barry show good judgement when he hooked up with Rezko?
Did Barry show good judgement when he went to a racist church for 20 years and chose its racis pastor as his "spiritual advisor?"

I am a greatly distressed at the level of personal vitriol within the Democratic Party. The Obama-Clinton Primary has clearly demonstrated that the Democratic Party is truly not the "big tent" party it holds itself out to be. Perhaps, just maybe, the Democratic Party is not "big tent" enough to cater to the personal interests of African Americans and White women. As an African American from New York, I am supporting Obama. I, along with 90% of the African Amercians in the US, supported former President Clinton for two terms. Then when his term was over and the Clintons moved to New York, I, along with 90% of African American in NY, supported Hilary Clinton for US Senate, even when her most ardent critics during her US Senate Campaign were White women. The Clintons have enjoyed a long tenure in public office and African Americans (and others) have been their loyal supporters. It is time to let others enjoy that public life experience. The Clintons were deeply revered in the black community. But the constant attacks by White women and others in the press against Obama may cost the Democratic Party the general election and ultimately cost Hilary her US Senate seat in NY. I wouldn't want to see either event happen. You have a right to support either candidate. I sincerely hope that you find a way temper the venom and invective that you constantly express against Obama. If you don't you may find that it may have the unintended effect of destroying the Democractic Party and casting Hilary in the role of villian for years to come.

HILLARY'S POOR JUDGMENT leaves AMERICANS FOOTING THE BILL:
THE WAR IN IRAQ IS HAVING SERIOUS NEGATIVE EFFECTS ON OUR ECONOMY and those who voted for the war (i.e. hillary) should be to blame, in part, for the state of the US economy.
Look how the WAR IN IRAQ is affecting the US economy...
$3,000,000,000... 3 billion dollars PER WEEK! That is the amount America is paying for the Iraq War PER WEEK, money that should have been used here, at home.
Add to this:
Interest. We are financing the war with borrowed money (e.g. treasuries) that carries interest; so in actuality, the war is costing the United States MORE THAN 3 billion dollars PER WEEK.
Higher oil and energy prices. Instability in Iraq is adding roughly 30 dollars per barrel as a premium.
High oil prices mean high utility bills. Due to high oil prices, demand shifts to other sources of energy - gas, coal, etc. - and greater demand will raise the equilibrium price of all sources of energy -- Can you say high energy bills?
Higher oil prices (a raw material used in the production of many goods, fertilizers, gasoline, diesel, plastics, etc.) mean higher prices of goods and services -- Can you say INFLATION?
Higher oil prices mean a higher trade deficit because most of our oil comes from foreign sources. A higher trade deficit means more money is leaving the country than is coming into the country -- Can you say Goodbye to your hard-earned money!
Our dollar is weak and getting weaker. Since we have a trade deficit and is growing in large part to the rising cost of imported oil, the value of goods and services we import exceeds the value of goods we export. You know that foreign car you're thinking of buying or the computer you're using, or that trip abroad you've been thinking of taking....well, guess what? It is going to cost more, Ceteris Peribus, because the dollar is weak and getting weaker.
Lastly, how do you think the world views our country since the argument was made for war? The evidence was weak and circumstantial, yet we rushed into war with Iraq thanks to hillary's authorization.

Obama Supporters are desperate. Fo so long Obama had reporters against the ropes accusing people left and right of racism, mostly wrongly so. he presured to have Imus fired, not that I disagree, but Bill Clinton's remarks' were not racist, and ferraros were arguable. The clear message to the press was
don't vet me like you would another candidate or you may be fired.
So Obama with less experience than anyone in modern times to run for President had it so easy for the longest time.
Now that people are realizing he's not who he claims to be, and is a wall Street Big Bank candidate, who basically does the opposite of what he promises, he wants it to end now, while he's ahead.
Problem is he also played a shell game using legal jargon and quoting rules, when offered so many viable solutions to give millions of people in FL and MI a say in this election. But he does not want all states to vote. Americans don't like people who take away the freedom to choose a President, so that's backfiring.
I bet if FL and MI had been counted way back when Obama would have been long gone, and he's scared to death as people learn more and more about him that his supporters will drop away like flies.
That's OK. Hillary is a great canidate, and I think she will restore the USA to peace and prosperity and Obama is a Bush clone, and talented con artist.

I'm tired of hearing Obama supporters buying so blindly into the whole "kitchen sink" argument against Hillary. You might as well take Obama campaign's playbook and recite it word for word without any type of critical thinking. If you look at this campaign, what strikes me is that both sides, especially their surrogates, have been equally negative and have equally gone after personal attacks and innuendos. Unfortunately, that's politics. The difference is that the Clinton's don't pretend to be "above" it. If you're in politics, you're "in" it.
In all this talk, it always seems that the underlying message is that somehow Obama should be protected or exempt from negative attacks for fear that somehow it will make him less competitive, or because he hypocritically claims to be above the fray, all the while slinging mud just the same. The fact is, this is a presidential campaign. All campaigns, both general and in the primaries, are brutal and have historically been brutal. That's the nature of the competition, so if you have such high aspirations and want the nation's top job, it's your duty and requirement to show that you can take all the punches and still come out on top. Hell, if you can't take it from Hillary, then how do you expect to survive what the Republican's have in store or what your opponents on the world stage will bring, once you get into the White House. I don't think any of them will be holding anything back.
The last interesting observation I've been seeing throughout the campaign, is that even though both Obama and Clinton will both be historic firsts (whoever wins the nominations) what makes him historic seems to provide a shield that deflects criticism and attacks while what makes her historic actually invites criticism and attack. Just the mere accusation of racism condemns the accused to "guilty until proven innocent" purgatory by both the media and public no matter what the merits of the charge may be, while charges of sexism are just brushed off with "no one's sexist but...what a b**ch. Why can't she be nice like a real lady?"
Think of our perception, as a society, of what's "acceptable" bahavior for a women in public:
If she attacks, she's vicious
If the demurs, she's weak
If she doesn't show emotion, she's cold
If she show it, she's "emotional"
If she has a plan, she's calculating
If she doesn't, then she's unprepared
It's funny how first Clinton's reviled for all those years for having too much influence in the White House and now, she's berated for not having enough. Because, you know, what experience comes from being "ONLY the wife" of a president?
Throughout this process, no-one's held any punches for her, not the Republicans, not the media, and least of all Obama. But she is still here, alive and kicking, and ready for the next fight. Now, that's true grit. That's presidential mettle.

I have to smile when I see Senator Clinton associating herself with the traditional supporters of organized labor such as the AFL-CIO... Because I immediately think of her daughter, Chelsea.
Chelsea Clinton works for a New York Hedge Fund called the Avenue Capital Group. This is a company which invests in the distressed debt market and which also happens to be run by folks who have been big financial supporters of her parents.(So much for getting her job on the merits.)
Investors in distressed securities typically make an assessment not only of the issuer’s ability to improve its operations but also whether the restructuring process increases the investors' wealth. This typically means things like stripping out pension assets and moving high wage jobs overseas.
Avenue Capital Group and firms like it profit from downturns in the economy and foreclosures and bankruptcies. There are more than a few voters in Pennsylvania, Indiana, North Carolina and beyond who have a right to hear how Hillary Clinton rationalizes her daughter's chosen professional career with her pro-working man rhetoric.

Disclaimer: I think Hillary would be a horrible president. She made the wrong call on Iraq, she has no qualms about bending the truth when it suits her, and she ran her own presidential campaign into bankruptcy way back in January, the first month of primary season. Not someone I want as commander-in-chief, not someone I want representing our country, and not someone I want in charge of our nation's economy.
HAVING SAID THAT... In the last few days I have come to hope that she will stay in the race. Hillary Clinton has worked very hard to discredit Senator Obama and to turn her supporters against the Democratic Party. The result is that many of Clinton's supporters are convinced that Barack Obama is the devil and that John McCain would make a much better president. This is why I want her to stay in the race: she needs to hang on until she is fully, 100% discredited. Until it is blatantly obvious that she is acting purely out of personal ambition. Until she becomes such a longshot that even her most tenacious supporters are embarrassed for her. I want her to stay in the race so that she can make increasingly desperate moves: tales of her Bosnian heroism were the start, but there are preliminary signs that she's starting to play the gender card by having her surrogates launch accusations of sexism. She needs to become desperate to the point of foolishness, then she needs to make ridiculous excuses for why she didn't win, and then she needs to concede gracelessly.
In short, she needs to stay in the game until she has completely discredited herself, so that after she is gone her former supporters will question the things she told them: that Barack is worthless, that McCain would be a good president. The Democratic Party can still come together -- it can come together over the smouldering remains of Hillary Clinton's political reputation.
So you go, Hillary. Run like you've never run before. Launch your "kitchen sink" attacks. Convince your donors to threaten Pelosi. Tell your supporters to vote Republican. Regale us with stories of your heroism Bosnia. And whine about how the mean old boys won't let you be president. Don't hold back. Simple failure is not good enough -- you need to go out in a blaze of inglorious silliness, and you seem to be making every effort to do so. More power to you.

A good thing to look at is the intense effort by the "Hillary Haters" in Pa. and NC. From what I can figure, these are the same "Left Wing" groups, in conjuction with many Repubs, that are Hell bent on destroying the Dem party for years to come, and 2008 in particular. To name them is important, so here are a few-Moveon, Huffington Post, The Nation, Daily Kos, and The Media [Taken as a whole].

This (Atlantic) magazine has been critical of the senator from Illinois for his closeness to Wall Street; his unwillingness to lay out an ambitious progressive agenda on healthcare, housing and other domestic policy issues; and for postpartisan rhetoric that seems to ignore the manifest failure of conservatism over these past seven years.
CREDIT CARD INTEREST RATES:
Obama has a way of ducking hard votes or explaining away his bad votes by trying to blame poorly-written statutes. Case in point: an amendment he voted on as part of a recent bankruptcy bill before the US Senate would have capped credit card interest rates at 30 percent. Inexplicably, Obama voted against it, although it would have been the beginning of setting these predatory lending rates under federal control. Even Senator Hillary Clinton supported it.
Now Obama explains his vote by saying the amendment was poorly written or set the ceiling too high. His explanation isn't credible as Obama offered no lower number as an alternative, and didn't put forward his own amendment clarifying whatever language he found objectionable.
Why wouldn't Obama have voted to create the first federal ceiling on predatory credit card interest rates, particularly as he calls himself a champion of the poor and middle classes? Perhaps he was signaling to the corporate establishment that they need not fear him. For all of his dynamic rhetoric about lifting up the masses, it seems Obama has little intention of doing anything concrete to reverse the cycle of poverty many struggle to overcome.
LIMITING NON-ECONOMIC DAMAGES:
These seemingly unusual votes wherein Obama aligns himself with Republican Party interests aren't new. While in the Illinois Senate, Obama voted to limit the recovery that victims of medical malpractice could obtain through the courts. Capping non-economic damages in medical malpractice cases means a victim cannot fully recover for pain and suffering or for punitive damages. Moreover, it ignored that courts were already empowered to adjust awards when appropriate, and that the Illinois Supreme Court had previously ruled such limits on tort reform violated the state constitution.
In the US Senate, Obama continued interfering with patients' full recovery for tortious conduct. He was a sponsor of the National Medical Error Disclosure and Compensation Act of 2005. The bill requires hospitals to disclose errors to patients and has a mechanism whereby disclosure, coupled with apologies, is rewarded by limiting patients' economic recovery. Rather than simply mandating disclosure, Obama's solution is to trade what should be mandated for something that should never be given away: namely, full recovery for the injured patient.

Ignoring reality and slogging on despite what your actions are doing to your party and your country is not admirable. Hillary is disingenuous at best and a liar at worst. She, with her vast foreign policy experience, has already succeeded in making herself a laughingstock in Ireland, Bosnia, Macedonia, etc. She still isn't being upfront with Americans about her tax returns, white house records, donations to Bill's library, Nafta, FEC problems (Peter Paul), and that's not even getting into past scandals: filegate, pardongate, travelgate, whitewater, etc., etc., etc! The question isn't should she get out, it's why did she ever think she could outrun her past and get in in the first place.

Obama has too much unknown to voters. Whenever there is a revelation of his "dark" side, his answer is never convincing or satisfactory. He is not an honest or straightforward individual that even qualifies as a presidential hopeful.
People need to wake up to reality!

Let me give you the short version.
Obama is unelectable.
Posted by: svreader | April 1, 2008 7:25 PM
Obama supporters will do anything to supress the truth about him.
Its not going to work.
Obama's guaranteed to lose the national electon.
It would be nuts for Democrats to nominate him, regardless of what the current vote totals are.
The more we find out about Obama, the more we find that his "accomplishments" aren't his at all, but that he was given credit for the work done by others to make him look far more impressive than he actually is.
Obama is like a "Potemkin Village"
He looks good on the surface, but there's nothing behind it.
He's spent his entire political career running for office, and strong-arming people into putting his name on bills he never even did any work on.
The WP says so themselves in their recent article.
The NYT says "big image, little results"
All this will come out before the general election.
As will the truth about how his negligence led to people who voted for him freezing in slums in his district that Rezko, and in the rest of Chicago, that Rezko got $100M to repair, but never touched.
He can't win the general election.
But he can cause Democrats to lose it.
Everyone interested in the Presidential election should read the article that there's a link to at the bottom of this message.
Its from a Chicago reporter who's known Obama since the beginning of his career and has followed Obama's career ever since then.
The take-home message is that Obama is a total fraud, a manufactured product of the chicago politicial machine.
It tells about him stealing credit for bills he never worked when he was in Chicago, just like he did in Washington.
It talks about "Obama's Slums" and fact that Barry didn't care one bit about the people who elected him.
Its about the fact that Chicago Barry Obama is the one of the most clever con-men in the world and the biggest fraud that's been put over on the American public since Bush.
Its filled with facts about Obama from someone who has known him for years.
The title's cute. Obama isn't. He's a fraud.

Well, Hillary supporters have well and truly shown themselves to be the most idiotic of the three voting blocs, I give them credit for at least mastering the "cut and paste" functions on their computers (and, of course, masters of hateful and racist arguments)...
....I need to not look at these blogs, as I unfortunately don't have the patience for the Clinton morons....(and I do mean the obvious bloggers, not the 98% that are probably very nice and normal people).

From DD --
Just Embellished Words: Senator Obama's Record of Exaggerations & Misstatements
Once again, the Obama campaign is getting caught saying one thing while doing another. They are personally attacking Hillary even though Sen. Obama has been found mispeaking and embellishing facts about himself more than ten times in recent months. Senator Obama's campaign is based on words -not a record of deeds - and if those words aren't backed up by facts, there's not much else left.
"Senator Obama has called himself a constitutional professor, claimed credit for passing legislation that never left committee, and apparently inflated his role as a community organizer among other issues. When it comes to his record, just words won't do. Senator Obama will have to use facts as well," Clinton spokesman Phil Singer said.
Sen. Obama consistently and falsely claims that he was a law professor. The Sun-Times reported that, "Several direct-mail pieces issued for Obama's primary [Senate] campaign said he was a law professor at the University of Chicago. He is not. He is a senior lecturer (now on leave) at the school. In academia, there is a vast difference between the two titles. Details matter." In academia, there's a significant difference: professors have tenure while lecturers do not. [Hotline Blog, 4/9/07; Chicago Sun-Times, 8/8/04]
Obama claimed credit for nuclear leak legislation that never passed. "Obama scolded Exelon and federal regulators for inaction and introduced a bill to require all plant owners to notify state and local authorities immediately of even small leaks. He has boasted of it on the campaign trail, telling a crowd in Iowa in December that it was 'the only nuclear legislation that I've passed.' 'I just did that last year,' he said, to murmurs of approval. A close look at the path his legislation took tells a very different story. While he initially fought to advance his bill, even holding up a presidential nomination to try to force a hearing on it, Mr. Obama eventually rewrote it to reflect changes sought by Senate Republicans, Exelon and nuclear regulators. The new bill removed language mandating prompt reporting and simply offered guidance to regulators, whom it charged with addressing the issue of unreported leaks. Those revisions propelled the bill through a crucial committee. But, contrary to Mr. Obama's comments in Iowa, it ultimately died amid parliamentary wrangling in the full Senate." [New York Times, 2/2/08]
Obama misspoke about his being conceived because of Selma. "Mr. Obama relayed a story of how his Kenyan father and his Kansan mother fell in love because of the tumult of Selma, but he was born in 1961, four years before the confrontation at Selma took place. When asked later, Mr. Obama clarified himself, saying: 'I meant the whole civil rights movement.'" [New York Times, 3/5/07]
LA Times: Fellow organizers say Sen. Obama took too much credit for his community organizing efforts. "As the 24-year-old mentor to public housing residents, Obama says he initiated and led efforts that thrust Altgeld's asbestos problem into the headlines, pushing city officials to call hearings and a reluctant housing authority to start a cleanup. But others tell the story much differently. They say Obama did not play the singular role in the asbestos episode that he portrays in the best-selling memoir 'Dreams From My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance.' Credit for pushing officials to deal with the cancer-causing substance, according to interviews and news accounts from that period, also goes to a well-known preexisting group at Altgeld Gardens and to a local newspaper called the Chicago Reporter. Obama does not mention either one in his book." [Los Angeles Times, 2/19/07]
Chicago Tribune: Obama's assertion that nobody had indications Rezko was engaging in wrongdoing 'strains credulity.' "...Obama has been too self-exculpatory. His assertion in network TV interviews last week that nobody had indications Rezko was engaging in wrongdoing strains credulity: Tribune stories linked Rezko to questionable fundraising for Gov. Rod Blagojevich in 2004 -- more than a year before the adjacent home and property purchases by the Obamas and the Rezkos." [Chicago Tribune editorial, 1/27/08]
Obama was forced to revise his assertion that lobbyists 'won't work in my White House.' "White House hopeful Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) was forced to revise a critical stump line of his on Saturday -- a flat declaration that lobbyists 'won't work in my White House' after it turned out his own written plan says they could, with some restrictions... After being challenged on the accuracy of what he has been saying -- in contrast to his written pledge -- at a news conference Saturday in Waterloo, Obama immediately softened what had been his hard line in his next stump speech." [Chicago Sun-Times, 12/16/07]
FactCheck.org: 'Selective, embellished and out-of-context quotes from newspapers pump up Obama's health plan.' "Obama's ad touting his health care plan quotes phrases from newspaper articles and an editorial, but makes them sound more laudatory and authoritative than they actually are. It attributes to The Washington Post a line saying Obama's plan would save families about $2,500. But the Post was citing the estimate of the Obama campaign and didn't analyze the purported savings independently. It claims that "experts" say Obama's plan is "the best." "Experts" turn out to be editorial writers at the Iowa City Press-Citizen - who, for all their talents, aren't actual experts in the field. It quotes yet another newspaper saying Obama's plan "guarantees coverage for all Americans," neglecting to mention that, as the article makes clear, it's only Clinton's and Edwards' plans that would require coverage for everyone, while Obama's would allow individuals to buy in if they wanted to." [FactCheck.org, 1/3/08]
Sen. Obama said 'I passed a law that put Illinois on a path to universal coverage,' but Obama health care legislation merely set up a task force. "As a state senator, I brought Republicans and Democrats together to pass legislation insuring 20,000 more children. And 65,000 more adults received health care...And I passed a law that put Illinois on a path to universal coverage." The State Journal-Register reported in 2004 that "The [Illinois State] Senate squeaked out a controversial bill along party lines Wednesday to create a task force to study health-care reform in Illinois. [...] In its original form, the bill required the state to offer universal health care by 2007. That put a 'cloud' over the legislation, said Sen. Dale Righter, R-Mattoon. Under the latest version, the 29-member task force would hold at least five public hearings next year." [Obama Health Care speech, 5/29/07; State Journal-Register, 5/20/04]
ABC News: 'Obama...seemed to exaggerate the legislative progress he made' on ethics reform. "ABC News' Teddy Davis Reports: During Monday's Democratic presidential debate, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., seemed to exaggerate the legislative progress he has made on disclosure of "bundlers," those individuals who aggregate their influence with the candidate they support by collecting $2,300 checks from a wide network of wealthy friends and associates. When former Alaska Sen. Mike Gravel alleged that Obama had 134 bundlers, Obama responded by telling Gravel that the reason he knows how many bundlers he has raising money for him is "because I helped push through a law this past session to disclose that." Earlier this year, Obama sponsored an amendment [sic] in the Senate requiring lobbyists to disclose the candidates for whom they bundle. Obama's amendment would not, however, require candidates to release the names of their bundlers. What's more, although Obama's amendment was agreed to in the Senate by unanimous consent, the measure never became law as Obama seemed to suggest. Gravel and the rest of the public know how many bundlers Obama has not because of a 'law' that the Illinois Democrat has 'pushed through' but because Obama voluntarily discloses that information." [ABC News, 7/23/07]
Obama drastically overstated Kansas tornado deaths during campaign appearance. "When Sen. Barack Obama exaggerated the death toll of the tornado in Greensburg, Kan, during his visit to Richmond yesterday, The Associated Press headline rapidly evolved from 'Obama visits former Confederate capital for fundraiser' to `Obama rips Bush on Iraq war at Richmond fundraiser' to 'Weary Obama criticizes Bush on Iraq, drastically overstates Kansas tornado death toll' to 'Obama drastically overstates Kansas tornado deaths during campaign appearance.' Drudge made it a banner, ensuring no reporter would miss it." [politico.com, 5/9/07]

African-American superdelegates said Thursday that they'll stand up against threats, intimidation and "Uncle Tom" smears rather than switch their support from Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton to Sen. Barack Obama.
"African-American superdelegates are being targeted, harassed and threatened," said Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II (D-Mo.), a superdelegate who has supported Clinton since August. Cleaver said black superdelegates are receiving "nasty letters, phone calls, threats they'll get an opponent, being called an Uncle Tom.
"This is the politics of the 1950s," he complained. "A lot of members are experiencing a lot of ugly stuff. They're not going to talk about it, but it's happening."

Obama Supporters --
How you support Obama when he let the people who elected him in Chicago freeze in slums in his district his friend and campaign contributor Rezok got $100M to repair or replace?
Before you send any more of your, or your parent's, hard earned money to Barry Obama --
Please Watch this report on Obama, Obama's slums, Rezko, and $100M of wasted taxpayer money, from NBC news, Chicago's most respected TV news program.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDHsHM0laT8&feature=related
How do you explain away the fact that Barry Obama never followed up on the 11 slums that his friend Rezko was supposed to repair in Obama's district in Chicago, and continued to do nothing about the 40 slums that Rezko was supposed to repair or replace in Chicago, even after Obama joined the US Senate?
From the Chicago Sun Times:
For more than five weeks during the brutal winter of 1997, tenants shivered without heat in a government-subsidized apartment building on Chicago's South Side.
It was just four years after the landlords -- Antoin "Tony'' Rezko and his partner Daniel Mahru -- had rehabbed the 31-unit building in Englewood with a loan from Chicago taxpayers.
Rezko and Mahru couldn't find money to get the heat back on.
But their company, Rezmar Corp., did come up with $1,000 to give to the political campaign fund of Barack Obama, the newly elected state senator whose district included the unheated building....
The building in Englewood was one of 30 Rezmar rehabbed in a series of troubled deals largely financed by taxpayers. Every project ran into financial difficulty. More than half went into foreclosure, a Chicago Sun-Times investigation has found.
"Their buildings were falling apart,'' said a former city official. "They just didn't pay attention to the condition of these buildings.''
Eleven of Rezko's buildings were in Obama's state Senate district....
Rezko and Mahru had no construction experience when they created Rezmar in 1989 to rehabilitate apartments for the poor under the Daley administration. Between 1989 and 1998, Rezmar made deals to rehab 30 buildings, a total of 1,025 apartments. The last 15 buildings involved Davis Miner Barnhill & Galland during Obama's time with the firm.
Rezko and Mahru also managed the buildings, which were supposed to provide homes for poor people for 30 years. Every one of the projects ran into trouble:
* Seventeen buildings -- many beset with code violations, including a lack of heat -- ended up in foreclosure.
* Six buildings are currently boarded up.
* Hundreds of the apartments are vacant, in need of major repairs.
* Taxpayers have been stuck with millions in unpaid loans.
* At least a dozen times, the city of Chicago sued Rezmar for failure to heat buildings.

Wow - I never cease to be amazed at the comments these news articles generate. I think it is fully legal and ethical for Senator Clinton to stay in the race until the convention.
With that being said, I also have to admit that it does her cause no good to stay in, especially since she is at the point where she regularly uses lies and "dirty politics" to keep her campaign afloat. Quite frankly, many of us tire of her antics and drama - that's why some of us have vocalized our desire for her to concede the race.
I am amused at the extensive cut-and-paste postings here describing Senator Obama as a liar, a charlatan, or worse. I think your arguments are weak, at best. Please, then, humor my rebuttal:
If Obama is as you claim, then can you please explain your views on the following items:
1) Senator Clinton has delayed the release of her tax returns. Why is that?
2) Senator Clinton has claimed - on many occasions - that she survived possible sniper fire while landing in Bosnia. Did she actually LIE about it, or is there a reasonable explanation for her "misstatement"?
3) Senator Clinton loaned her campaign $5 million, while Obama is literally swimming in MANY, SMALL donations. If Hillary Clinton is the more popular candidate, then why has she been losing the "money primary"?
4) Senator Clinton is currently behind Senator Obama in pledged delegates, popular vote, and number of states won. He also is the official winner of Texas (check Wikipedia for verification). Hillary Clinton can claim only that she is ahead in superdelegates, but at the current rate of votes lost, by the convention she may be behind Obama in those, too. Given that, then why should I believe she, not Obama nor Mike Gravel, is more electable?
5) This one is the whopper, so please be ready: outside of Hillary Clinton being a) a woman; b) Caucasian; and c) a former U.S. First Lady - why should I vote for her and/or donate to her campaign? How is she professionally superior to Senator Obama and Senator Gravel?
I'll be checking this blog regularly - please convince me that my preference for Senator Obama is simply because of a lack of information and/or brainpower.
Thanks.
- Greg Hodges, Ph.D.

Here's how he's actually run his campaign.

He's even worse than Bush.

And for you Dems, just a last note: I am not one of you Losers! I am with the candidate that is leading on all the last polls: Sen. HERO John McCain!
You can keep attacking each other, just destroy your party, do our dirty job, let us go to America with clean hands.
And another note: I am voting for Hillary on the open primary we have here at our state. Me, and all the Republicans and Independents we know. Some will vote for Obama as well, so we keep you fighting and destroying each other, hahaha.
That is so funny to watch... The Dems losing the election to themselves...

Again, HATE Lady supporters are schizophrenic and keep doing their denial thing. Sorry, but you won't have free socialist healthcare for you, and you will have to go to some sanatorium in Canada, where you can stay rocking on a chair, drolling, and saying: "Hillary is winning, Hillary is winning..." while you wait for the nurse to bring your schizophrenia medicine...
Keep fighting HATE Lady! Stay on the race down to the dirty end! We greet your effort to devastate the Democratic party forever!
Thank you for giving to us the election we thought would be hard to win!
I think we should build a statue for the HATE Lady as she saved America from Obama and herself and made Sen. McCain the 44th President.
Well, we can't build a statue for her, or we will have HALF of this Country coming to show their hate for her at that place, every and each day.

If you want to call the facts anger and hatred do as you will... These are the facts. Your candidate is a fraud.
If you like frauds, then like Obama being so close to Rev Wright, that says sometyhing about you.
Frankly I never sit in a room with people who are racists, and not call them out, and I don't want someone who says he's every greeat thing people want to hear, then learn he is the exact opposite.
We all have our own sense of morality.

This is Hillary Clinton: Whitewater, Travelgate, Monica Lewinsky and impeachment, renting out the Lincoln bedroom, the loss of the Rose Law Firm billing records for nearly 2 years until they were miraculously found in the White House living quarters, removing files from Vince Foster's office following his suicide and before investigators could get there. Her stalling to release her full tax returns and earmark requests from her time in the Senate, as well as her Clinton library donors. Her apology to the African American community (for her campaigns racist comments) which came days too late. Her decline to return $170,000 in campaign contributions from individuals at International Profit Associates, or IPA accused of widespread sexual harassment, and whose CEO is a disbarred lawyer with a criminal record. Lets not forget her campaign eventually returned some $850,000 to Hong Kong businessman Norman Hsu who was found to be a fugitive in a 15-year old theft case. He was indicted for fraud related to his campaign contributions in 2007. Her failed inclusion and diplomacy with congress on her universal health care bid. Her subsequent surrender and alignment to the health care industry. Her flip flop on NAFTA. Her flip flop on Iraq. Her flip flop on Florida and Michigan. Her exaggerated foreign policy experience. Her dealing the race card better than Republicans could. Clinton photo with Rezko. Clinton photo and prayer breakfast with Rev Wright. Her lies about Bosnia. Her failure to get the endorsement of close friend Bill Richardson. Her flip flop on pledged delegates and superdelegates by encouraging party elite to vote against the will of the people - "I believe strongly that in a democracy, we should respect the will of the people and to me, that means it's time to do away with the Electoral College and move to the popular election of our president." - Hillary Clinton in 2000

Hired Pen, half the Democrats know Obama is not who he claims to be anymore... and that number is growing every day.
I'm just a voter who wants someone better than Bush. Resko was a fund raiser for both Bush and Obama, and Obama get's his funding from Wall Street (Oil and Defence Profits); Big Banks; and Suisse Banks (terrorists and Drug Dealers) so he's a Bush Clone.
Ever been conned by a really good con man?

With all the "accidents" that happened to the friends, supporters, and officials around the Clintons during the 90''s, would Obama really pick Hillary as his vice presidential choice?

Hey dyck21005 and CassZives, anger and hatred gets you and your candidate nowhere. Do you really think that anything you've written o this blog is going to get anyone to vote for Clinton?
If you are going to spew venom at least be funny about it. Why don't you head over to another blog and try this line: "I heard Obama fathered not one but TWO black children."
Not only is this funny, but it is a lot closer to the truth than the spin you are copying from the Clinton website.

Clintonians, the Anti-American party, can keep posting their long posts. Nobody is reading those anymore, because we know that anyone that posts anything supporting the HATE Lady, is a hired-pen. Clintonians live on a schizophrenic oblivion. They were planning to have a nice life in DC, on a well paid job at people's expense, and now all their dreams are gone. If the HATE Lady manages to win the Dem nomination, she will LOSE to Big Mac, as the new polls are showing her trailing Sen. McCain in all the States, even the Blue ones...
I just hope she really stays down to the end, so she can make sure that the Democratic party gets totally destroyed.
Thanks again HATE Lady!

DON'T BE DUPED !!!
Large numbers of Republicans have been voting for Barack Obama in the DEMOCRATIC primaries, and caucuses from early on. Because they feel he would be a weaker opponent against John McCain. And because they feel that a Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama ticket would be unbeatable. And also because with a Clinton and Obama ticket you are almost 100% certain to get quality, affordable universal health care very soon.
But first, all of you have to make certain that Hillary Clinton takes the democratic nomination and then the Whitehouse. NOW! is the time. THIS! is the moment you have all been working, and waiting for. You can do this America. "Carpe diem" (harvest the day).
I think Hillary Clinton see's a beautiful world of plenty for all. She is a woman, and a mother. And it's time America. Do this for your-selves, and your children's future. You will have to work together on this and be aggressive, relentless, and creative. Americans face an even worse catastrophe ahead than the one you are living through now.
You see, the medical and insurance industry mostly support the republicans with the money they ripped off from you. And they don't want you to have quality, affordable universal health care

im sick and tired of the media sayin that obama wanted her to get out the race.lets really tell the truth it was the media and hillary that ran that one in the ground.in my oppion hillary should leave the race hillary and bills proublem is that there to compeittive for there own good and they dont want ot give up the power for the good of the party.and another thing i want to get off my chest is am sick and tired of the media and hillarys people sayin that they should stop fighting it wasent obama who started the bikering hillary started that if obama defands his self on what hillarys sayas they sayas that hes not stickin true to his campain if he dont defend his self he consider weak so tell me your smaeter than i am what would you do i would fight back just like any human being would do.
