Obama Debate Complaints Greeted by Clinton Mockery

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton does a school cheer with students at a campaign rally at Radnor Senior High School in Radnor, Pa., April 18, 2008. (Associated Press)

By Perry Bacon Jr.
RADNOR TOWNSHIP, Pa.-- A day after Barack Obama complained about the questions he was asked Wednesday at a Democratic presidential primary debate, Hillary Clinton mocked him.

"I know some of my opponents' supporters and my opponent are complaining about the hard questions, but having been in the White House for eight years ... that was nothing," Clinton said at a rally at a high school in this Philadelphia suburb. "I'm with Harry Truman on this: If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. Just speaking for myself, I'm very comfortable in the kitchen."

Clinton had earlier told the FOX 29 Morning Show in Philadelphia "We need a president who is going to be there fighting for the American people and not complaining about how much pressure there is."

"I know he spent all day yesterday complaining about the hard questions he was asked," Clinton said. "Being asked tough questions in a debate is nothing like the pressures you face inside the White House."

Clinton has loudly complained about the press and the questions she received in earlier debates, lamenting during one that she was constantly asked the first question and that reporters were too soft on Obama.

"Her blatant hypocrisy here is stunning," said Bill Burton, an Obama spokesman.

OBAMA SCARES ME. I think he hates America and everything we stand for in this country. He's really good at flashing his winning smile and telling people what they want to hear, but the truth is he is no friend to America!

It's encouraging to me to see so many Democrats echoing those same sentiments. It gives me hope that he hasn't fooled everyone.

I read twenty-six pages of a ....I don't know what to call it but it DEFINITELY was NOT a debate. PA votes are coming up and everyone was looking forward to a GOOD debate between these candidates before that due time, and George and Charlie screwed it all up. Page after page I was beginning to WONDER where The Substance was going to be introduced. Instead, I got associates and flag pins. Some issues weren't even brought up. The entire show should've been about the issues, what's going to be done for this country.

Those were stupid questions. I couldn't believe it. The flag pin question should've been replaced by a substantive question. That was a waste of a question for the debate among others. George and Charlie screwed up a potentially good debate. They sure did.

Obama, continue to move forward.

Posted by: Obama2008 | April 20, 2008 12:53 AM

Why are the Obama supporters complaining about the debate? Obama and Clinton are running on the same platform, agreeing on maybe 98% of the issues. Also, we have seen 20+ debates already, so it was refreshing to see a debate about character. C'mon, Obama supporters don't be so militant.

DON'T BE DUPED !!!

Large numbers of Republicans have been voting for Barack Obama in the DEMOCRATIC primaries, and caucuses from early on. Because they feel he would be a weaker opponent against John McCain. With Hillary Clinton you are almost 100% certain to get quality, affordable universal health care very soon.

But first, all of you have to make certain that Hillary Clinton takes the democratic nomination and then the Whitehouse. NOW! is the time. THIS! is the moment you have all been working, and waiting for. You can do this America. "Carpe diem" (harvest the day).

I think Hillary Clinton see's a beautiful world of plenty for all. She's a woman, and a mother. And it's time America. Do this for your-selves, and your children's future. You will have to work together on this and be aggressive, relentless, and creative. Americans face an even worse catastrophe ahead than the one you are living through now.

You see, the medical and insurance industry mostly support the republicans with the money they ripped off from you. And they don't want you to have quality, affordable universal health care. They want to be able to continue to rip you off, and kill you and your children by continuing to deny you life saving medical care that you have already paid for. So they can continue to make more immoral profits for them-selves.

Hillary Clinton has actually won by much larger margins than the vote totals showed. And lost by much smaller vote margins than the vote totals showed. Her delegate count is actually much higher than it shows. And higher than Obama's. She also leads in the electoral college numbers that you must win to become President in the November national election. HILLARY CLINTON IS ALREADY THE TRUE DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE!

As much as 30% of Obama's primary, and caucus votes are Republicans trying to choose the weakest democratic candidate for McCain to run against. These Republicans have been gaming the caucuses where it is easier to vote cheat. This is why Obama has not been able to win the BIG! states primaries. Even with Republican vote cheating help.

Hillary Clinton has been OUT MANNED! OUT GUNNED! and OUT SPENT! 4 and 5 to 1. Yet Obama has only been able to manage a very tenuous, and questionable tie with Hillary Clinton.

If Obama is the democratic nominee for the national election in November he will be slaughtered. Because the Republican vote cheating help will suddenly evaporate. All of this vote fraud and republican manipulation has made Obama falsely look like a much stronger candidate than he really is. YOUNG PEOPLE. DON'T BE DUPED! Think about it. You have the most to lose.

The democratic party needs to fix this outrage. Everyone needs to throw all your support to Hillary Clinton NOW! So you can end this outrage against YOU the voter, and against democracy.

The democratic party, and the super-delegates have a decision to make. Are the democrats, and the democratic party going to choose the DEMOCRATIC party nominee to fight for the American people. Or are the republicans going to choose the DEMOCRATIC party nominee through vote fraud, and gaming the DEMOCRATIC party primaries, and caucuses.

Fortunately the Clinton's have been able to hold on against this fraudulent outrage with those repeated dramatic comebacks of Hillary Clinton's. Only the Clinton's are that resourceful, and strong. Hillary Clinton is your NOMINEE. They are the best I have ever seen.

"This is not a game" (Hillary Clinton)

Sincerely

MY FELLOW "BITTER", STUPID, WORKING CLASS PEOPLE :-)

If you think like Barack Obama, that WORKING CLASS PEOPLE are just a bunch of "BITTER"!, STUPID, PEASANTS, Cash COWS!, and CANNON FODDER. :-(

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think Barack Obama with little or no experience would be better than Hillary Clinton with 35 years experience.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience can fix an economy on the verge of collapse better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) led the greatest economic expansion, and prosperity in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience fighting for universal health care can get it for you better than Hillary Clinton. Who anticipated this current health care crisis back in 1993, and fought a pitched battle against overwhelming odds to get universal health care for all the American people.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience can manage, and get us out of two wars better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) went to war only when he was convinced that he absolutely had to. Then completed the mission in record time against a nuclear power. AND DID NOT LOSE THE LIFE OF A SINGLE AMERICAN SOLDIER. NOT ONE!

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience saving the environment is better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) left office with the greatest amount of environmental cleanup, and protections in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with little or no education experience is better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) made higher education affordable for every American. And created higher job demand and starting salary's than they had ever been before or since.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience will be better than Hillary Clinton who spent 8 years at the right hand of President Bill Clinton. Who is already on record as one of the greatest Presidents in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that you can change the way Washington works with pretty speeches from Obama, rather than with the experience, and political expertise of two master politicians ON YOUR SIDE like Hillary and Bill Clinton..

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think all those Republicans voting for Obama in the Democratic primaries, and caucuses are doing so because they think he is a stronger Democratic candidate than Hillary Clinton. :-)

Best regards

jacksmith... Working Class :-)

p.s. You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you don't know that the huge amounts of money funding the Obama campaign to try and defeat Hillary Clinton is coming in from the insurance, and medical industry, that has been ripping you off, and killing you and your children. And denying you, and your loved ones the life saving medical care you needed. All just so they can make more huge immoral profits for them-selves off of your suffering...

You see, back in 1993 Hillary Clinton had the audacity, and nerve to try and get quality, affordable universal health care for everyone to prevent the suffering and needless deaths of hundreds of thousands of you each year. :-)

Approx. 100,000 of you die each year from medical accidents from a rush to profit by the insurance, and medical industry. Another 120,000 of you die each year from treatable illness that people in other developed countries don't die from. And I could go on, and on...

Clinton didn't complain about questions being too hard. She complained about Obama getting an easy ride. Obama wasn't complaining that Hillary wasn't asked difficult questions but he was.

Obama complains about how mean they were to him in Wed. debate. Yet they still have not unveiled so many of the really ugly truths about Obama. My guess is the media is saving it to help McCain, bury Obama come Nov.
For the Blacks, and all of the so called intelligent college grads, and upper income people, who think Obama, is your hero, WAKE UP. He wrote letters on behalf of his good friend Rezko, syrian born with lots of friends whom were in tight with Saddam. Rezko took on a Black silent partner, so that he could get the grants intended for the minorities to rehab buildings in Obama's District. Rezko received 100 million dollars to rehab 30 buildings. That's 3.3 million per building. 11 of these buildings were in Obama's district. Obama's pal Rezko, did some repairs on the cheap side. He never bothered to repair the heating systems and people did not have any heat that winter. Obama denies knowing anything about this. This is a small district that you can easily walk, and there is NO WAY, that someone living, or working, in the area, would NOT know about the slums, that the Govt would soon board up, and condemn, and even foreclose on. What happened to the 3.3 Million DOLLARS that should have gone to rehab each building. Rezko received the 100 million with the help of Obama. He denies knowing Rezko that well. I wonder what kind of money he would help someone he truly knew. HYMMMM.
Compare this to, Bill Clinton, giving Harlem NY grants, and today its a beautiful, neighborhood, with many new condo's, businesses, offices, stores and restaurants.
If Obama, cannot see to it, that things run properly, in his very small District, than how does he expect to run an entire Country.

I have to say that Mr. Obama's supporters posting here, are the most immature, uneducated hacks I've ever come across. Did you all just come out from under your rocks or, are they just rolling around in your heads passing for brains?
Obama isn't fooling the people who pay attention to his race-baiting, back-stabbing, behind the scenes despicable attempt to smear anyone who gets in his way. This man is a product of people who have some pretty awful agendas.
Thank you ABC for your excellent debate. I saw another time, the round about way Obama speaks and never says a thing.
Why would anyone want such a dope for president, is beyond me. I will work hard to see it doesn't happen.

Posted by: amazed | April 19, 2008 12:09 AM

On a video on a Penn. t.v. station they just said that Obama had people waiting for tickets to hear him speak and that they are refusing to hand out anymore tickets. What? Why? I mean, what about the people who really want to hear him? I think he is afraid that someone might ask him a question he can't answer, or um's his way thru, I mean my God, he cries about the heat from the debate now he's afraid of those racist gun-toting, God fearing, typical white people?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Posted by: guess what i just heard | April 18, 2008 10:36 PM

I too was frustrated by the inane questions. If the absence of a flag pin is deemed important, though, then why was Senator Clinton not asked why she was not wearing one during the debate? That to me speaks volumes about the lack of quality of the moderators.

Posted by: Paul in Michigan | April 18, 2008 10:18 PM

Didn't Hillary tell Barbara Bush that she does not stay in the kitchen to make cookies. Now she claims she likes the heat in the kitchen. She will stay in the kitchen as long as somebody else bakes the cookies for her.

Posted by: Tamika | April 18, 2008 10:14 PM

Bill Clinton had Charlie Gibson's daughter do 'internship' in his Oral office. George Stephanopolis was taking care of Hillary while Bill Clinton was working on Monica. Now these two jokers were put as 'moderators' for the debate. What a democratic and unbiased system our country has in the process of electing our officials for office. Now we have Hillary hanging around with some pasty white thighed altar boys in mocking Obama.

Posted by: Mel Blasbeck | April 18, 2008 10:11 PM

We know who likes the heat in the kitchen, hells kitchen and who is it that likes the fire and heat and who would mock it when she gets there?

Posted by: MissClarity | April 18, 2008 10:06 PM

George Stepanopolis was curious about our economy when he asked Obama the following question:

Senator Obama, why are you not wearing a lapel pin of an American flag made in China? How are you planning to improve the economy of China if you don't buy those lapel pins?

At the same time George complemented Hillary on her dresscode.

Senator Hillary, thank you for wearing the Armani pantsuits made in Italy. Thank you also for wearing those pearls imported from Japan. Thank you for promoting world trade.

This comment line should be preserved for posterity. I think it epitomizes everything that is wrong with American politics.

Democrats, please calm down and don't blow this election. Don't let Hannity, Rove, and Limbaugh - or Stephanopoulos and Gibson for that matter - decide our primary election agenda. Run on positives - the actual programs you support and what you would do if you were elected. Accept the election results.

At this point, Hillary is too far behind to win. Trying to win "ugly" is only making a large number of people like her even less. Look at the polls, people! Obama's positives have gone down, but Clinton's went down even more. This is the classic case of the crabs in the pot grabbing the one crawling out and dragging it back in.

Stop the Drama. Vote Obama.

Posted by: Chuck | April 18, 2008 7:26 PM

If only we had known that issuing flag lapel pins to all Americans (and requiring that they wear them at all times) would solve all of our problems - all from little red, white and blue pins made in China!

Of course, that "issue," plus aging 60s radicals, Rev. Wright, and "Bitter-gate" (along with "Sniper-gate" and your negative poll rankings on the question of truthfulness) are crucial questions that should take up the first half of a critical campaign debate.

Thanks for your laser-like focus on the real campaign issues, Senator Clinton. You are an inspiring leader, ready on Day One.

So many of you probably don't realize who is really behind MSNBC. Telemundo purchased MSNBC and has an agenda. Clearly. The ruling party was overthrown in Mexico. They had power for 70 years. Since they can no longer control Mexico then the USA is the next best thing. This party are now the owners of MSNBC and the American people are being pulled by the nose of the very Mexicans they hate so much. It is absolutely hillarious!

Posted by: Interesting To Note | April 18, 2008 6:02 PM

The reason the Republican Party do not have superdelegates is because they choose not to.

They think the way that we do things are stupid.

If we had the same system as the Republicans, under their guidelines, then Hillary would already be the nominee.

The reason we do have superdelegates is because in 1980 Kennedy took Carter to the convention - the way Hillary is planning - and contested the electoral votes. The votes were slightly in favor of Carter so they gave the nomination to Carter. Basically, the party felt in their heart that that was not the right thing to do. So what they did is they came up with the idea of the superdelegates and the condition of their vote was supposed to be that they vote for who is the best person for the party, the nomination, and most likely to win in the General. Their entire purpose was not to vote as the electoral votes indicates or the popular votes indicate, they are supposed to consider what is best for the party.

That is why it is so interesting, which so many of these young people don't understand, is that Kennedy went with Obama. Things that make you go hhmmmn. Still has a little bit of a grudge I guess.

Yes, there was no sniper flying around Clinton in Bosnia. But that place was a troubled zone, and never in recent past a first lady visited such a troubled foreign place. That is just sufficient to understand her guts. Old Clinton administration people around Obama know that well. But they simply use to diminish her - dishonestly.

Why talk about Bosnia, even in her own home country, being a first lady, she had been asked to wear bullet proof vest during her bus campaign in 1994.

Those who complain of tough questions to Obama, should remember the attacks Hillary endured during her public life. Read about her in Wikipedia. Her run for presidency has never been a fairy tale.

The number of people with a negative view of Hillary has steadily grown as the campaign has worn on. Were she to be given the nomination by the Super delegates, does anyone think that trend would be reversed? Talk about someone who is unelectable!

Great recent post that sums it up:

HOW TO COMPLETELY BLOW A PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN.

This will be taught in communication and political science classes starting next spring. She will be forever remembered in history as the modern day Tortoise and Hare Story.

Hare expected to win without a doubt
Hare loses first race and places third
Hare regroups and barely wins 3rd race
Hare loses races 4-15
Hare attempts to change into Duck/Image Change
Hare turns nasty/Interjects race
Race backfires on Hare/Hare cries
Hare's crying wins next race
Hare attempts to change into Eagle/Image Change 3
Tortoise takes lead and never looks back
Hare attempts to change rules of race
Hare changes back and says it's a real Hare
Hare lies and says it was shot at while running
Hare lies about hospital patients
Hare lies about Irish Peace Plans
Hare lies about shooting guns
Hare's right hand image maker has MAJOR conflict of interest
Hare doesn't fire right hand image maker/demotes him
Hare lies about going to church
Hare gets other Hares to help gang up on the tortoise to slow him down
(Doesn't work)
Americans are tired of the hare

Tortoise wins, all with a smile on his face

Ahhhhhh, the silly season of politics

Reading these comments I begin to understand how a man like Bush managed to be elected TWICE to the highest office in America.

Rational thought is buried under junior high school insults and serious debate is made impossible as people stop thinking and talking feeling that it is appropriate to respond with pat platitudes and mud slinging.

Doesn't anyone realize that this immature behavior has cost the American people dearly? Our children are dying in a war that was begun without seriously looking at the information available, our homes are being taken by the banks who offered loans that were unpayable, our high priced health care system excludes the middle class who cannot afford insurance, college tuitions are out of the reach of the middle class, gas prices are cutting into food budgets and jobs are being cut in ever increasing waves...

We need someone who can address these issues and bring the country together to solve them before we face another Great Depression. For those of you who missed the last one... it's an experience you can do without.

Whether that person is a Democrat or a Republican, wears a skirt, a pants suit, a sports jacket or a toupee, drinks beer or soda pop... is irrelevant.

Whether that person can command enough respect to cross party lines and get things done is what we need to know.

Lapel pins and husbands who are unfaithful are tabloid fodder that takes attention from the real issues and brings on emotional outbursts. Take care, America, if you don't vote carefully this time around, you will pay for it even more than you are now...

The whaaaaah-cry-baby-Obamadrones are sheep, okay.

For heavens sake, don't you get it? He is a charlatin!

Don't you think we want the best democrat too?

Don't you think that we did consider him?

He has gone against everything he said he stood for.

He has no substance.

He ridiculed Hillary when she had true emotion about caring for this country.

Everyone tries to so "oh, he is so cool" WTF? Are you kidding me? He has no composure! The way he has completely fallen apart and attacking Hillary, we can only imagine what he does and says about her and us who support her behind closed doors. Oh yeah, we now know what he thinks about us.

This loose cannon is supposed to have his finger on the button? Representing us?

Beyond the fact that he clearly was not able to answer any of the questions with any detail. Beyond the fact that he lied to us three different times. Even trying to get away with saying that he had something like completely denounced/divorced himself from Rev. Wright - and when George questioned him on it - he backed tracked; for heavens sake, that was a major part of his supposedly great Race Speech saying how he could NOT denounce Rev. Wright. He is so used to lying and all his sheep sucking it up that he simply cannot control himself.

I read that he spent the entire day before held up in a hotel room - preparing. Hillary, spent the entire day before and day of --- AT EVENTS!!! People!!!! WAKE-UP!!!

The superdelegates have no, you know whats, and they are afraid to do what they should, they just want to be re-elected and they are terrified of what they saw the Obamadrones do yesterday by attacking ABC, George, and Charles. You have to contact them and tell them why we need Hillary and not Obama!

Also, he talks so much gibberish that you can barely understand him when he does talk, he gave three different answers on taxes. PEOPLE HE WANTS TO RAISE THE SS TAX!

People are saying well, if the superdelegates "take it away from Obama" - well, you know what - they are NOT "taking it away from Obama" because even after all the people who now want their votes for him back, all the biased media, all the millions and millions of $$$'s he has spent - HE STILL CANNOT GET TO THE MAGIC 2024!!!!

If the superdelegates do "give it to Obama" then you can guarantee that I will vote Republican! I completely breaks my heart, let me tell you, but clearly Obama would be a worse choice.

People you must speak up now, the USA is on the verge of losing everything. We are at a point that we will never be able to come back from.

I agree that the questions weren't hard, just absurd. Hillary thrives on division and "fighting". I still think Bill would have had a less divisive presidency without Hillary hiding financial documents, telling him to lie and picking fights with anyone who could bear the listen to her.

GWB has lowered the bar so much that the experience question isn't even relevant anymore. All three candidates are better than where we are now. Even still, the other candidates seem to prefer swimming in the mud.

Call the rest of the undecided representatives and senators instead - and ask them why they have not voice their support for leaders like Obama. If enough people tell our politicians that real issues matter more than trivial media tricks (Besides one voter from PA, who cares why Obama doesn't wear a flag pin?).

When her Social Security is cut so we can keep funding an endless, useless war, she probably won't be thinking much about a flag pin.

Just goes to show that Obama was right that Clinton had learned the wrong lessons from the GOP. People are running away from Clinton for the same reason they are running to Obama - they are tired of the non-stop grade school politics, especially now that the country is basically burning to the ground. Obama really is the only adult in the room.

"Mocking"....sure seems the media likes to use flowery and dramatic adjectives to sell newspapers.

If you read the article without the headline, it doesn't have the negative slant the writer wants you to have when you walk away from it.

Sad that so many people fall for it - and the evidence of that is the negative reactions directed toward the subject of the article.

The main media is complaining when their favorite Obama got the tough questions, but no one is complaining in the previous 20 debates when Hillary got tough questions. Now we can see how pro-Obama the press is. I wonder through this campaign, how much the ordinary citizens can have their voices, because it's manipulated by the press. Hillary not only has to fight against Obama, but the press. It's so one sided that it seems like we are living in a communist country. I hope ABC, as well as other "independent" media can stand to their beliefs and don't let the majority of the press crush you.

Obama is not fit to be President of the United States. Of all the people in this country the Democrats come up with a freshman senator! There isn't a sports organization, college, university, corporation that would take a freshman and make him CEO. Why would the American perople do it? Sign of the times. Ignorant stupid American Idol, and other reality? show mentality. Americans have lost their substance so if Obama should be president then America got what it deserved.
Oh one more thing. The democrats have been in charge of the congress during the the time the economy tanked.

What on earth is all this "indignant" reaction to ABC's debate about? Please people, we are talking about looking at hiring someone (and it is that) to do the toughest job in the world and we are afraid to ask the really tough questions that linger in the minds of many, many people? I can read about the plans of both people on their websites, ad nauseum, and I can read the opinions of those plans or things less tangible about the candidates in columns, but I want to see how these people can handle the really tough, revealing questions that show a person's character, on-point, without a speech or teleprompter. This was a very tough, stark (no applause - love that!) debate that pushed issues we have with both candidates and those that will certainly be pushed by the Republicans. This is not a job for the faint of heart, or light of spirit, otherwise we all would be applying. Then again, looking at how Obama's income quadrupled since he started running for President in 2007, maybe it would be a good move financially for alot of us. (Sorry, couldn't resist!) :-)

I sat thru the entire debate and tried very hard to keep an open mind. Afterall, one of these two people could be the next President. The only problem I had with the moderators was not nailing the candidates on a direct answer to a specific question every time. All in all, I think Hillary won this one. She seemed to maintain her composure (a good thing when times are tough as a President) and answer most of the questions, more so than Obama. She did loft a few bombs his way and one can argue it was personal, but I thought maybe there's another reason: maybe she really knows that if he is the nominee, that the Republicans will make mincemeat of him with his questionable ties to Rezko, Ayers, Wright, and his revealing comments behind closed doors when cameras aren't rolling and teleprompter is off. If the Republicans can destroy the character of two very good, credible men (Gore, Kerry) without much to work with, what on earth will they do to this guy? Afterall, isn't it MOST important that we elect anyone except a Republican who still thinks Sunni's and Shiites are reversed and thinks GWB's policies are "OK"?!

Divide and conquer - Governance 101.
Get off the internet and volunteer for real change.
Given a choice of two (or more) evils, I like to keep it interesting and pick the devil I don't know.
Can a relatively green Barrak H. Obama be any worse than the idiot incumbent? Or a guy who took punji sticks up the butt for 5 years? (You think current Iraq vets have PTSD? Imagine how crazy you'd be if you spent 5 years as a POW...) Or a super intelligent lawyer-woman scorned?
Once you start digging into a person's past, you're bound to find some dirt. If someone's not dirty, they probably never left the porch.
There is no way Barrak is as dirty as the other two career politicians.

At least he was subdued and refrained from "mud slinging". Mr Obama was very well-controlled and he deserve credit for not "stooping" so low, like Hillary...Good for him that he did not go down to her level. Clinton's supporters felt thet she won the debate, NONSENSE.She was pathetic and did not follow the democracy that this democratic party had spoke to both of them before. I am not an Obama supporter, but he stood firm , so he should not be whining about anything it was not necessary. The accusation was wrong. He was only talking about the debate...it was kind of bias though. Goergie used Sean hannity's line. Who is Georgr???Charlie is a republican...So it was thre against one. They let Hillary escape.....

Orchestrated gumpff.
Hannity wrote the script.
Hillary learned her lines.
The sad Flag Pin character was schooled due to her lack of knowledge of this political farce.
The Gibbon did his circus cage tricks.
Staphalococulus infected the procedings and when he was slow in responding Hillary was on her toes to prompt him!! { Because she had learned her lines and the choreography off by heart]
Little things like- "Oh Senator Clinton does not want to talk about that"[ Lots of nods from Hillary!
Off the cuff answers - No way!

Obama for one moment was the fall guy.ok
But he won the debate !

But,to be fair if Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts are not competing in January I feel Hillary has all the chances of getting the nomination. -Oscar for Hillary- Leading Lady in the comedy of the year. Academy award. performance said the press.
Best supporting actress award for Chelsea- How did she keep a straight face!
The Gibbon, Hannity and Staphalococulus are also in with a good chance of getting bestscreen play and directors awards if somebody can ask Woody Allen and Clint Eastwood to take a back seat this year.
Total Hogwash the whole affair.

The AP reports that Hillary "complained" about her treatment in a debate last October and "complained" that she always got the first question in a February debate:

But it wasn't so long ago that Clinton was the front-runner and complaining about her treatment in debates. After a debate last fall, her campaign compiled clips of her being targeted, and called it the ''Politics of Pile On.'' In late February, Clinton complained that she always got asked the first question. [AP, 4/18/08]
Actually, Hillary never "complained" about getting asked tough questions from moderators in October. She said that she understood why her opponents were targeting her and she welcomed it. She said, "I think they are piling on because I'm winning. And I understand that." Hillary added " I anticipate it's going to get even hotter, and if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. I'm very much at home in the kitchen."

According to PolitiFact, Hillary's comment that she almost always is asked the first question was true. Hillary said, "I just find it kind of curious that I keep getting the first question on all of these issues. But I'm happy to answer it."

Posted by: Jay | April 18, 2008 3:48 PM

Didn't Senator Clinton ask the question as to why she was asked questions first in one debate?

Will a candidate ever be able to stand on their own platform without comparing themselves to their opponent? If you are the right candidate, show me. But show me without comparing because this is how I can believe you and trust you as a leader.

Posted by: nichole | April 18, 2008 3:45 PM

I agree with the McCain fan's assessment that a debate between two unelectable candidates is a boon to the other side. We saw this in 2000, again in 2004 and this is just an instant replay of the same old hoax.

Why is it that every 4 years we're given a laundry list of people to vote against, but no one to vote for?

Where the US corporate media most disgracefully abandons the American people is in refusing to present us with real alternatives.

I'd vote for Kucinich or Paul, or better yet, an independent ticket that includes both. I'm sick of the clowns both parties parade about that sound like they are on parole from a mental ward. With 300 million people to pick from, it sure seems like we ought to be able to do better than this.

But it was only a few times and it was a battle zone(the year before) and there were people there in battle gear (they call them uniforms) and maybe next time I won't be so tired (at 9 in the morning). Sounds like a ten year old saying I'm sorry I got caught, not I'm sorry I lied and besides it's not my fault. How stupid does she think we are...but considering some of the posts I've seen supporting her and attacking Obama, I guess she and old Bill may be right. Whatever it takes, right! Lie,cheat, Tonya Harding would be proud.

"All these white people need to stop hating on Obama. Obama the only one who can save this country and the stupid white men trying to stop him.

Posted by: Ra'Neishia"

Interesting Ra'Neishia...you claim to support Obama but apparetly don't subscribe to his political view that we should put race behind us and come together. Are you a hypocrite or has Obama's own lack of conviction (I give you his association with Rev. Wright) helped you realize that Obama isn't really concerned with uniting the races to create one America. You don't seem interested in healing when comments like "stupid white men" come out of your mouth.

The truth is Ra'Neisha, you probably benefitted nicely from the Clinton years and, if Obama wasn't running, you would be kissing Hillary's @ss in gratitude for the work she and President Clinton did for our nation in the 90s. Instead, you are giving over to base instincts, voting more on skin color than issues, and belittling a candidate who helped make your life better all of those years.

It's amazing how many African-Americans (note I am mention race but I'm not resorting to name calling like Ra'Neisha's "stupid white people" comment)loved Bill Clinton then and considered him the first black president and now reject him outright. Your lack of gratitude and short memories are disappointing, even appalling.

Obama will never win the election. When you end up with McCain, your chickens will come home to roost.

Here's the biggest problem with the Far Left in regards to their complaints...They didn't care one iota that HRC was treated terribly and has been treated unfairly for the past 15 months. So at this point they don't have a leg to stand on. They forsook "fairness" and became just like the hideous FAR RIGHT in their demeaning and often genderbased attacks. They didn't stand up against BIAS then and so to now WHINE & WIMP over Obama finally being asked tough questions, well, their argument is null and void. The Obama Cult has turned the Democratic Party into a cesspool and they LOVED IT as long as it favored their completely empty, stuttering, stumbling candidate.

It's fine to be so immature and to ADORE something that's not worth anything, but most of us left that childishness and clique mentality behind us, after High School. Luckily High Schoolers are not old enough to vote, but sadly the Obama Cult is.

All they want to do is tear down the Clintons so when Obama is asked tough questions and CAN NOT ANSWER they cry foul! They are a complete embarrassment.
And Obama can not win and will not win, but even that doesn't phase the Cult.
All they really want is for the STRONG WOMAN set out to make SYSTEMIC CHANGE in AMERICA, all they want is for her to lose.

SUBSTANCE & ISSUES? Um yeah, Obama was also ASKED questions about real issues and yet again he stuttered, broke a sweat and looked like a FOOL. Without a teleprompter the guy is nothing more than a BAD EXTRA in a BORING FILM.

He can't answer UNLESS he imitates what Hillary said seconds earlier. This guy is a joke and a total fraud. He's also a RACIST and that is clearly a FACT. He's also an arrogant, rude, condescending person who has let his head get far too big and now he thinks he truly is the GOD, that his followers believe him to be. He's also a sexist. His entire campaign was built on

RACISM
SEXISM
and EMPTY SOUND BITES

Obama has no substantive things to say on any issue. He "runs out the clock" and talks in circles like a dog chasing his tail, he runs in circles until people have lost track of what was even discussed. He's black. Uh yeah, wow, cool, so am I. Should I be President now? No. He is NOT READY in any regard to be our leader because he does not LEAD. Hillary can lead and has plans to take action.

Her misty eyes and moment in New Hampshire was heartfelt and had nothing to do with compalining about the media.
ALSO she didn't actually "cry", that's hyperbole.

After New Hampshire Obama's camp played the race card and it is fully documented by the New Republic in a brilliant article called "RACE MAN". Every detail of them faking "racism" by everyone who ever uttered disapproval of him.

RACISM? My ass. This guy is a TOOL.
He's nothing more than words...Words Matter? Except apparently his words DO NOT matter UNLESS it's borrowed rhetoric from his speech writer or Deval Patrick.

That is truly pathetic. I will not vote him if he wins the nod. No way in hell.
I would never vote a racist fraud who can't answer questions and who offers up a bogus Health care Plan full of Corporate Loopholes. No way. A guy who cozies up to special interests and kisses the NUCLEAR POWER and all this he does without any Media Scrutiny. He's a fake. I don't trust him and he is NOT to be trusted. He has offered the black community NOTHING, no promises at all and that's one of the funniest things about Obama. How does he get away with that? He has offered no one of any color ANY REAL PROMISE, except the lie about not raising taxes. Yeah right. hahaha.

Honestly, I am shocked and disturbed by his entire existence in politics...he's a ZERO.

Hillary is specific and talks about things that are real to the American middle class, the backbone of any democracy.
In effect, Obama is a spoiler who is only helping Republicans control the country another eight years. We don't need rock stars; we need a leader capable of righting the wrongs done in the past eight years.
Of the three left standing, Hillary is best able to do what is needed. She's the best, by far."

I agree 100%
We need Hillary now, at this crucial time when things have absolutely HAVE TO GET DONE. HRC is the one to do it and I know she will work herself into the ground to make sure she does it for us!

I can't say that about Obama or McCain. Obama is a flimsy candidate and not one I am willing to gamble on. I also don't like the media forcing such a phony on me and the American people in general. They gave this idiot a free pass and now he's come this far when he shouldn't have come this far because he is NOT a leader, he's a follower with a teleprompter.

We need SYSTEMIC CHANGE and Hillary will give that to us.

I wish people would stop being petty and thinking the presidency is a joke. It's not! It's so very very real. We need Hillary and I have trust and faith in her candidacy. Now more than ever after witnessing what a boob and how weak Obama really is...

McCain is a racist!! He is supported by John Magee, Pat Robertson, Rush Limbaugh and Jerry Falwell and Hal Turner; all known racists!!!!"

See how ridiculous that sounds!! Will you neo cons get off the idea that Barack Obama is some kind of militant Muslim terrorist? I know you people are a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic, but your drivel just hides your real motives.
Just get over it, say you won't vote for any Black man or woman, Hispanic man or woman, Asian man or woman, or Native American man or woman. Just admit you are part of the right wing fringe element of neo con hate mongers who vent on these boards because you lack the courage to espouse your racist fear mongering filth in polite society.
Oh by the way. Get used to saying President Obama.
Also by the way, those Hillary supporters calling Obama a liar, here are Hillary's greatest hits:

"Men are weak. Men are vile pigs! Rise Hillary, rise!
Clinton '08, '12"

The mere fact that you are voting for someone strictly because they are the same sex as you just displays your complete lack of thought. I'm all for equal rights, and I'm all for making sure women are given the same opportunities as men...but just because Hillary is the first woman to take a stab at becoming president of the US doesn't necessarily mean she is the right person for the job.

Take off your blinders. Don't vote because she is a woman. Vote because you agree with her policies.

PS. Don't agree with her policies just because she is a woman, either.

Obama and the Country of Doom

Obama spells doom for this country. Not only because of his dubious affiliations with mob members like Rezko and criminals like Auchi, but because of his lack of experience and bias education especially his bizarre religious affiliations. He is like silly putty; able to change his ideas for the public as needed so as to achieve his goal as supreme leader.

His intentions are unclear, but his affiliations are clear. Being surrounded with people like the violent Ayers, or the Hiteresque Wright, or his American hating wife Michelle, or his Kenyan half brother Islamic Jihad terrorist Abongo "Roy" Obama, or his Jewish/Israeli hating best friend Rashid Khalidi, or his close advisor Robert Malley who advocates supporting and helping the terrorist group Hamas, or Mr. McPeaks, Obama's military advisor who open believes American Jews are the "problem." and "Christian Zionists were driving America's policy in Iraq to benefit Israel," or Obama's super delegate and major long term supporter Senator Meeks who openly hates and distrust all whites and gays or Obama's most dangerous affiliation to Mr. Auchi who was Saddam Hussein right hand man and made billions in Iraq and has been a important supporter and behind the scene man throughout Obama's rise to power.

And besides all this questionable laundry in Obama's life, another serious question is why is Obama protected and promoted by the media? Is this also being directed from behind the scenes? The American public has been fooled before and I guess those in power know we can be fooled again. (Kennedy's assassination, Martin Luther King's assassination, the invasion of Iraq...).

The fact that Obama has made it this far demonstrates the collective lack of discriminative intelligence and education of this country. And nothing demonstrates this better than how well Obama plays his black card; which plays on our fear of being labeled a racist.

Instead of nitpicking candidates about 'he said' and 'she said', citizens should focus on what they are saying and if it makes sense in light of current problems faced by this country. All the three candidates (McCain, Clinton and Obama) have gone to the stretch in making false statements and then re-correcting them later on.
I feel that the earlier the Dems decide their candidate the better it will be for the final race.

For all the Hillary supporters who are saying they are going to vote for McCain, just why are you supporting Hillary in the first place? Is it because she is a champion for women's causes and fight for the working class? Just how will voting for McCain advance your cause? If you are voting for McCain just because you are voting against Obama, isn't that just silly? Is voting against Obama so important that you are voting for everything your candidate is against?

Posted by: anthony | April 18, 2008 3:12 PM

You're right Jeffp, Hillary did lie again during the debate and Obama took the high road and defended her! Also, when explaining her "Bosnia" lie, she would have been more credible if she simply would have said "I Lied". Hillary also wants everyone to "overlook" the "Bosnia" story, yet wants to keep hammering Obama on his "Bitter" comment! This is all so ridiculous and alot of Clinton Nonsense!

Posted by: Briskwood | April 18, 2008 3:11 PM

If past relationships are so important why don't the same people complaining about Obama complain about the Bush/ Bin Laden relationship. How about the Bush/ Rumsfeld/ Hussein relationship in the early 1980's and many others these crooks have and have had.

I don't like any of the candidates because of their relationship with the CFR. That organization is openly against American Sovereignty.

Hillary Clinton is the worst case scenario for our country. Obama, McCain, & even Nader would be better choices.

Senator Clinton can't even be trusted with her own recollections and falsley remembers sniper fire on her trip to Bosnia.

She never had the self respect to divorce Bill after he cheated on her while they were married.

She flips & flops & takes huge sums of cash from Washington lobbyists.

She is an inferior product & only a fool can't see through her act.

The person that said we had to much TV time and got all of our info from the TV and news, where do you get your info? Do you know Hillary or Barrack personally? Notta. Neither do we, be we are trying to make a personal decision for us and our children and grandchildren. Yes, we get our info from the news, TV, and debates, I will assume you do to. All I have left to say is
GOD BLESS AMERICA AND ALL AMERICANS.
But we have the power given to us to make choices that will make America blessed. We have had it for many many years. Use it, use it wisely. It is a gift.

Obama thinks the American flag lapel pin "became a substitute for true patriotism" and he decided he was not going to wear that pin on his chest. "Instead" he said "I'm going to try to tell American people what I believe will make this country great and hopefully that will be a testimony of my patriotism."
He later said wallet photos of wife and children have become substitutes for true love of families and got rid of his. Instead he will tell his family what he believes will make them great people and hopefully this will become his testiment of familial love.

Obama breaks into a sweat, stutters and looks ALL FEAR, whenever asked a tough question. He is a total wimp and completely unready to be the Leader of America. Get real, this guy is a joke and it's not funny anymore.

Last time he was asked questions HE WHINE and that was many months ago and only ONCE, now twice, has he even been asked any tough questions. His entire FREE RIDE has been the most creepy thing I've ever seen in politics.

Who is this guy? What is he about? What will he do?

He's a racist! I feel bad for his granny and his mother who wasted their time raising such an ungrateful piece of crap. Apparently WHITE WOMEN are not on his list of "worthy". But he can then write books about some lame father who abandoned him and a Racist Bigot Pastor?
Also Rev.Wright is a BIG FRAUD too. He talks trash about white people, rich white people and yet he is RICH and has bought a mansion in an almost EXCLUSIVELY white neighborhood. That's pathetic.

What a SHAM!

They are all nothing more than blow hard opportunists.

Hillary Clinton will make SYSTEMIC CHANGE and I have no doubt about it.
I don't have time to be a sexist and overlook the only candidate who truly offers us Health Care (without loopholes). The only real candidate who can be asked about any ISSUE and explain it clearly, including her actual plans to make it happen.

Obama can't do that. He stutters, breaks a sweat and looks SCARED. Yep, he's a wimp. He is for sure a wimp and lately he acts like he is a Stand Up Comic.
He's a joker and I am shocked by how CONDESCENDING he is...he makes me sick.

Clinton is saying that Obama is whining about the debate? Wasn't it Clinton who brought up the SNL skit to illustrate how unfair the media was being to her in debates? That's not whining? How about the now infamous "Why do I always have to go first?!" That wasn't whining?
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black...Oh, yeah that was in SC.

Posted by: Sueb2 | April 18, 2008 3:01 PM

Obama never said the questions were "hard" - he said that for the first 45 minutes the questions had nothing to do with the issues that voters are most concerned about. And he was absolutely right.

Hillary is always ready to distort and misrepresent anything that is said by anyone else.

We need an honest president for a change.

Posted by: Tex | April 18, 2008 3:01 PM

Actually, when all the candidates are members of the CFR, the only thing that matters is who will betray the CFR, in order to do what most regular Americans would do. That is, keep ONLY "our" interests in mind when making decisions. NOT David Rockefeller's.

If you don't know D.R. read some of the quotes from his memoirs. They are nauseating and truly unbeleivable.

Posted by: george | April 18, 2008 2:59 PM

LIES! Obama did go after Clinton int hat debate 3times, so stop lying for your empty, fraud of a candidate. He attacked HILLARY 3 times with rubbish while on the defensive. While fumbling and unable to actually answer any of the questions. He pretends all the time to be this cool guy concerned about the issues! YEAH RIGHT, how about you replay all 4 debates of Obama and Hillary and see WHO IS REALLY DISCUSSING THE REAL ISSUES! Not Obama, unless you think by just repeating what Hillary already said...yeah, he is a FAKE and a PHONY. Obama is a joke.

And for two days now all he has done is WHINE and make condescending remarks about Hillary. Condescending and ARROGANT and people see that and now people are leaving his side.

Obama is a chamelon who changes colors when it suits his needs. His supporters and Liberal media has hijacked this election without giving a serious thought of the challenges that we face today. Scripted speeches, dishonesty and slogans of change will not solve problems. Obama is deceitful, dishonest and calculating. He surrounds himself with American flags but never sings Allegiance to the Flag. He coddles corruptions in Illinois, and in particular corrupt and indicted slumlord, Rezko, but wants to change Washington. Obama's judgement is flawed to embrace racists and divisive pastor Wright, He subjected not only himself but also his children to the hatred and racial speeches of his pastor. How can the liberal media and his "MOONIE" supporters fail to acknowledge that we cannot condemn Madrassas in fundamentalist countries without condemning Obama's church that preach hatred and destruction of America? Obama and his wife, Michelle, are truly influenced by pastor Wright, this is evident from their words and actions. Michelle says that she was not proud of America until her adult life and Obama belittles the hard working people of small town. Women, Hispanics, Latinos and Asians will never support Obama. We will surely lose this election if Obama is the nominee.

Posted by: UTO | April 18, 2008 2:56 PM

I hate to tell all the Obama supporters this, but the truth is, the President of the United States of America has absolutely NO BUSINESS with terrorists such as Bill Ayers who conspire to overthrow the government of the USA. It is not the American way, hate to tell all you America-hating Obama supporters. If you look into his past, he also has connections to Muslim terrorist organizations in Africa through his father - case in point - the deadly Kenyatta regime - which has killed many British nationals in Africa. If Obama can't stand the heat when he is questioned about his terrorist ties to Ayers and others, he can get out of the kitchen.

I think you are all silly.

1. John McCain is far to old to be an effective president, at anytime he could have a heart attack, stroke, or cancer

2. Hillary is a political hack, and is far to corrupt from years of bitter politics.

3. Barack is young and full of energy. Intelligent and fit for the job.

It should be a fairly simple choice.

Posted by: Clinton | April 18, 2008 2:54 PM

Every question in the debate was fair and relevant.

If we had just focused on the economy, foreign policy, the war, etc. Obama would have few legitimate comments. The man has no real record. He is a first term senator with two year's experience who chairs a Senate committee that has yet to hold a meeting, and his every policy position is stolen from Hillary and then tweaked slightly to make it appear to be his own (even then then changes are for the worse rather than for the better). Obama is like the contestants on "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader" and, like them, he has to use cheats and steals to finesse an answer--then feels proud like he came up with it himself.

The supposed grilling Obama received concerning Rev. Wright, Will Ayers, the flag pin and so on are relevant---he has no real record of which to speak other than as a do-nothing state senator from Illinois who spoke out in one speech against the war. Obama is no prophet. He just pulled one line from an old speech AFTER the tide turned in his favor and blew the context out of proportion to make himself look like a steady opponent to the war. He was not even a U.S. Senator at the time and there was no real risk to him in making a statement opposing the war. Anyone can be brave when there is no consequence. He didn't even get national attention at the time. Only now, five to six years later does his one time speech against the war figure into the national conscience. I can't believe the press and the public allow themselves to be duped by this self-appointed "visionary."

Obama's annoying one issue mantra, "I opposed the war in Iraq" is played out now and he has nothing even remotely substantial on his record to recommend him, and he speaks so often of making change that I feel he should be a toll booth worker and not a presidential candidate.
