Obama to Head to Indiana

Senator Barack Obama boards his campaign plane in Philadephia, en route to Evansville, In. (Jahi Chikwendiu / The Washington Post)

By Shailagh Murray
PHILADELPHIA -- Sen. Barack Obama is a big sports fan, so it's not surprising he's not spinning a potential narrow loss here as a "moral" victory.

"Let me cut to the chase,'' Obama told reporters during a stop at Pat's King of Steak, a famed South Philly cheesesteak haven. "A win is fifty plus one. So if Sen. Clinton gets over 50 percent, she's won the state. I don't try to pretend I enjoy getting 45 percent and that's a moral victory; we've lost the state."

But he added, he is winning overall, in total states, pledged delegates and popular votes.

"We've competed in every state, win or lose. When I hear arguments about, well, he hasn't won this state or that state.... Part of the reason ... is we've decided we could get more delegates by campaigning in five small states. That was a decision based on the notion that this was a delegate race.''

The candidate will jet off momentarily for Indiana, the next big battleground state. He'll hold a late-night rally in Evansville with Hoosier native John Cougar Mellancamp. Obama staffers boarded the campaign wearing new election day T-shirts: "Stop the drama, vote Obama."

Hey
I am watching this primary from the far north of Canada, and its an amazing thing to see. I don't get the criticism of Hillary for staying in the race just because she's behind in the polls. I mean if that were the logic, than Obama should never have launched a campaign months ago when she seemed unbeatable. the voters in states like Penn. and Indiana really get to matter if she stays in, and surely that counts for something.
Any way, you folks are lucky to have such fine candidates, each bringing something to the table. don't get caught in the internal fight too much, either of them will be a welcome relief to your northen neightbour when one of them hopefully takes up residence at Penn. avenue.
cheers.

With 82% of the vote in CNN is giving Clinton 40 delegates. Obama 37. A gain of 3! Three delegates!! Oooh Aaah! Clinton can't kept her campaign out of the debt and she's the one with, "Solutions for America"? Kept throwing away your money Clinton backers, Hillary needs you to pay her debts.

P.S. If Clinton steals the election and, "obliterates" Iran, starting a nuclear shooting war, the dead will be on every Clinton backer that wanted a woman president or insisted on portraying Obama as some dangerous extremist.

===============

That's odd considering Sen Obama recently granted Sen Clinton his permission to run "as long as she likes". Perhaps he's reconsidered.

Obama is great at delivering prepared speeches with the use of a teleprompter, having studied Jeremiah Wright's mesmerizing techniques from the pews for 20 years. But he is halting, tentative, and weak when delivering impromptu remarks or answering debate questions. Obama loves to lecture white people on what is wrong with American society in his left-wing socialist agenda-Black Liberation Theology-opinion. His campaign is devoid any particular policy. "We are the 'hope".. of the future," sayeth the silver-tongued Obama."We can remake this world as it should be." Believe in me and I shall redeem not just you but your country with -"Hope" "Change" & "Words."

#1.HAMAS "HOPING" for "CHANGE" with OBAMA
#1. 04/14/08-JERUSALEM -Hamas has expressed "hope" Sen. Barack Obama will win the presidential elections and "change" America's foreign policy. "We like Mr. Obama, and we hope that he will win the election Ahmed Yousuf, Hamas' top political adviser in the Gaza Strip said., "I understand American politics and this is the season for elections and everybody tries to sound like he's a friend of the Israelis" .
#2."If you look at Barack Obama's [diverse] audiences and look at the effect of his "words," those people are being transformed from what they were," "This young man is the "hope" of the entire world that America will "change" and be made better."said Louis Farrakhan.
#3."We live in isolation, and because of that isolation we fear one another. Barack is the only person in this race who understands that. Before we can work on the problems we have to fix our souls. Our souls are broken in this nation. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual; uninvolved, uninformed."YIKKES!!!

#4. 07/22/07 - Hamas Manifesto reprinted on Rev. Wright's church's newsletter that defended terrorism as legitimate resistance Compares charter, calling for murder of Jews, to the Declaration of Independence.

#5..Sen. Obama enjoys a friendly relationship with terrorists Bill Ayers & wife, Bernadine Dohrn.
In 1969, first condemned the United States for its pervasive racism, then formally declaring war against what the Weathermen called "AmeriKKKa. ......Rev. Wright would understand.

Tony Snow comment:Hillary Clinton's trying to make the argument that he is really not quite ready for prime time.

Not ready, in the context that Obama won't get into the gutter with her, as she lies, schemes, distorts, and would sell her mother to attain what she deems as her entitlement, the presidency.

Damn!

While the storm clouds gather far across the sea,
Let us repudiate a land that's so called free,
Let us all be hateful for a land that's so called fair,
As we raise our bitter voices in a solemn prayer.

God Da-mn America,
Land that I loathe.
Stand astride her, yet despise her
With a chip on a shoulder from above.
From the plantations, up to Harvard
To the Jews rich from our blood
God Da-am America, keepin' us down down down.

From Tony Snow, former White House press secretary under President Bush, on "Larry King Live" following an appearance by Sen. Hillary Clinton.

LARRY KING: What did you think of Sen. Clinton?

TONY SNOW: On substance, there's not a huge difference between her and Barack Obama on key issues. It comes down to personality. For many Obama voters, it is "we like him." Hillary Clinton's trying to make the argument that he is really not quite ready for prime time. ... There are things in his background that he has to rectify. I think she fairly artfully laid out some of the themes that are going to go on.

But she's also right, this is not a campaign that ends tomorrow, although a lot of people want it done tomorrow. This is going to go through June.

KING: What about the suggestion of Republicans in [Clinton's] Cabinet?

SNOW: Barack Obama's figured out a couple of things. No. 1, people want optimism. No. 2, they want a sense of national unity. So she's laid out that she might have Republicans in. But there's nothing in the record the last few years to indicate that Sen. Clinton ... is going to reach out to Republicans or agree with them on much of anything.

KING: Who's going to win [the Pennsylvania primary]?

SNOW: I guess Hillary's going to win. But it's interesting, her biggest opponent right now is not Barack Obama. It's conventional wisdom, because everybody's trying to set a margin. The fact is, you win, you win. And the argument that she's been making -- I think it's pretty compelling -- you win the big traditionally Democratic states. If Barack Obama's getting ahead in Republican states, do you have a candidate who's going to be able to propel you to victory?

KING: How do you see November?

SNOW: I think [Sen. John] McCain's going to win, actually, because I think security and the economy both break his way.

But on the Democratic side ... you have got this charisma and emotion on the part of Obama. Can people stay in love with him from now until November? If so, it makes him a stronger candidate. If, on the other hand, the more you learn about him, the more you fall out of love, that's a campaign that could collapse.

Meanwhile, with Hillary Clinton, you have somebody who is battle tested. You have a political machine. You have a lot of experience. And you're going to have the ability to do whatever it takes to try to pull the party together. If you need that kind of machine operation, I think she does better.

Joey:

It would not take "pigs flying" necessarily. She only needs 521 delegates to reach 2,025 (less after today's primary dust settles). Of course, he only needs 377 delegates. Since neither seems likely to obtain that amount before Denver, a brokered convention seems likely. After the first ballot deadlocks, all bets are off.

Posted by: | April 22, 2008 8:18 PM

And if pigs could fly, HillBilly could win. What do you think the vote margin will be like in North Carolina? Oh, maybe about 150, 000. Sorry, game, set, match.

94,000 votes would not be a "narrow" victory -- in fact, she would be in the lead with total POPULAR votes cast nationwide -- if she could keep that lead all the way to the convention, she at least has an argument that Obama cannot close the deal.

If HRC supporters find solace in a narrow PA victory, more power to them. Mathematically speaking, though, there is a very low likelihood that she can win the nomination. Did you see the NYT delegate meter? Take a look. Time to throw in the towel. Caroline for Secretary of Education!

"not a Hillary Clinton supporter" but using her supporter's defamatory rhetoric, implying that Obama supporters are "maniacs", rather than thoughtful and well-educated.

Posted by: mari | April 22, 2008 7:57 PM

Yeah, I guess if you don't take into account all the caucus state votes (not yet released, which Obama won, except maybe Nevada), and if you don't take into account Michigan, since he wasn't even on the ballot (respecting the Party decision). And if you ignore that he will totally wipe that out in two weeks. But then, you can always dream.

Posted by: mari | April 22, 2008 7:55 PM

I am not a Hillary Clinton supporter. His ads did, indeed, run in Florida prior to that primary. As for her name being the only one on the Michigan ballot, that is not true. Gravel's name was on the ballot too. There was also a choice for "uncomitted" if Obamanics wanted to vote "against" Hillary. Those are the facts.

Posted by: | April 22, 2008 7:52 PM

That's just like a Hillary supporter -- trying to manipulate the process by counting votes in "primaries" that weren't even contested and, in one, where her name was the only one on the ballot. All this after Hillary agreed that they wouldn't count and then when she conveniently needed the votes changed her story. Hillary is nothing but a dishonest and desperate candidate, so it's not surprising that those who support her have similar traits. Give it up -- Hillary has lost!

Posted by: | April 22, 2008 7:48 PM

If she beats him by more than 94,000 votes, then SHE will lay claim to the total POPULAR vote count!!!
