Barack Obama

And Now, Indiana

By Shailagh Murray
NEW ALBANY, Ind. - It's all about Indiana. Even Barack Obama says as much.

"Now it's up to you, Indiana," Obama told a crowd in Evansville, after fleeing Pennsylvania on primary night. At a New Albany town hall this afternoon, he told supporters, "You have the opportunity to choose who your standard bearer will be." Local campaign organizer Randy Stumler introduced Obama in New Albany and urged the audience, "It's up to us to make the change."

Speaking to reporters after the event, Obama said he saw key differences between Indiana and Pennsylvania. For one, his home state of Illinois is right next door. "People are a little more familiar here with me in Indiana," he said. He isn't starting off 20 points down, as he did in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Texas.

He conceded that a run of gaffes and other unwelcome developments made his climb in Pennsylvania all the steeper. "We were 20 points behind before the Reverend Wright controversy, we were 20 points behind before my bitter comments, we were 20 points behind when we had momentum and everybody here was talking about how we were going to be locking up the nomination," Obama said.

But there were some bright spots in his 10-point Tuesday loss, Obama pointed out. "Among all these groups that people have been focused on, you know, blue collar workers or, you know, white working class folks, we did better in Pennsylvania than we did in Ohio," he told reporters. "So we're continually making progress. We haven't gone backwards. We're actually going forwards."

Obama also noted that age may be a bigger factor than class, in defining Democrats who remain resistant to him. The good news for him is that Indiana is a younger state than Pennsylvania. "The problem is that, to the extent there is a problem, is that the older voters are very loyal to Senator Clinton. And I think, you know, part of that is they've got a track record of voting for not just Senator Clinton but also her husband," he said. He needs to communicate more effectively with elderly voters, Obama has concluded. "Then I think that we will end up doing very well here in Indiana," the senator said.

I have been searching to find out how you all feel about Sen Obama and the Dem(s). I am happy that you all are expressing your opinion. I am from Texas and I am sad that we could not stop the Hill-Billary Machine. The 3 AM Ad scared the H_ _ _ out of "The Don't Mess With Texas" Folk. She and Bill claim they won and Sen Obama ended up with more Delegates. She can't add
so how can she balance a budget.

A member of her Campaign Finance Committee just jumped ship and joined Sen Obama. I read an article in this cycle that a China
group is donating to her campaign so how will she be forced to un deal with them. I
feel she will do anything to get elected and I mean anything. I was a supporter of the Economic Era of Bill Clinton but I was also morally scared by his "Oval Office" stuff. If he had been any where else. What kind of people are they?

Sen. Obama is not hauling out their garbage but believe me the Rove Machine will. Sen. Obama needs to reconcile his
decision to stay in the Church once he found out about Rev. Wright. But God knows
even Rev. Wright and his comments will Pass. The new Ads in North Carolina will surely serve one purpose, only if we fall for it. They can not stop you from voting. Sen Obama's gaffe about "Bitter" Comments
will also pass. Sen McSame offers more War,
More Shame, More of our innocent Men and Women dying in Irag. The irony we were all
upset over the loss of life on 9/11. And we take comfort in "No Attacks on American Soil". Well the truth is why would they need to attack here when if they wait we will send our Young Men and Women to them.
Along with our Tax Dollars.

The reason the Republicans are attacking Sen Obama is they know he will Bring our Troops Home in a Safe and Timely Manner. He will not evoke War in the region but attempt to negotiate Peace. They would rather have Clinton because she has already said she would Strike at anyone.

Can you imagine what China would do if Bush
did not go to the the Games? They have him by the Balls. We have borrowed from them remember.

God Bless America. Obama '08

Bitter and ready to fight, may I not with Blackwater. Think about it. You feel me up Priest of God, or a Black Man whom has tested all . Where are you people going, and what in the hell are you thinking. You have thousands of dead since 911 and are not sure whom did it. Forget the intellectual impostors whom no it all and have pockets filled with cash. The world id watching.

The media has failed in this campaign.
The issues between the democratic candidates have been obscured and obliterated (pardon the term). It is obvious to me that Hillary is the most dishonest politician to-date. Her tactics are reprehensible. She floated Rev. Wright's footage, she has lied and clawed her way to where she is.

The press barely picked up on the millions she and Bill have made, and there have been sound reports of off-shore dealings that Bill has made. Nothing reported or commented on.

I would like the comments which have been floated by the Clintons to be vetted. Why are the charges picked up as truisms and gone over and over. When Barack answers one of Hillary's sleazy charges, he is charged with "going negative."

When she is questioned about why she IS NEGATIVE, then you hear (from the press). "well, that's all she has. She's desperate." Or, "she's a fighter". Why doesn't someone say, "those are unethical tactics"..Is the press so tainted or looking for a story that they can't see what's what.

In conclusion, this whole campaign instead of being an enlightening experience, has become depressing and depraved. The other aspect is, if running this campaign is any indication of how the candidates would run the White House, can we get a sense of what this country would be if HRC won? God forbid.

Neither Obama or McCain can fix the ever deeper financial trouble America''s facing. But unfortunately maybe one of these will be the next president because America is still too macho to have a female president, even though HRC smarter, more thoughtful and sensible than either of the guys. So the dollar will sink more, prices of everything will rise more, taxes will be higher despite whatever politician promises on campaign trail, wages will stagnate, and everybody get pinched hard financially except the very riches who make money outsourcing globally. Obama was sleak in getting lots of fervent supports using his hope/change pitch. But he gradually revealed his true self by using the same old dirty politics which divided the democratic party. You can only fool some of the people some of the time. Despite sleazy attacks from left and right on the Clintons. History will remember them as decicated public servants who done public mostly good. Which ex president ever took office in poor black neighborhood? How many presidents ever engineered recovery to great propsperity all at the same time turning big deficit into big supluses? Of course our young "educated" supporters of Obama won't know that and won't value that until one day they face the painful reality of without a job in this capitlst society with minimum finacial safety net. Clintons of course have their humanly flaws, but I believe them to have better integrity than 70% of the population. Eager stone throwers are usually sinners themselves, like that Republican congressman Barr who tried to impeach Bill but having three extramarital affairs himself. If American smart and care about their pocket book, vote for HRC. Vote for Obama will more likely lead to a more divisive country rather than hope of unity as already evident in this campaign by the often nasty tones of Obama supporters in their attack against HRC. Face it, HRC not quitting is not only because she's not a quitter, but also because half of the voters not fulled by the Obama and media hype stand by her. All too often Media tried to put HRC away by showing phony poll numbers to create an air of inevitability, and most times the real vote results proved them wrong.

Hillary Clinton has a health plan, an economic recovery plan, an education plan, a military plan--but, then, so do Barack Obama, John McCain, and millions of Americans, myself included. Great plans of all sorts can be had on the Internet at a click of the mouse.

What voters need to bear in mind when they go to the polls is not whether this or that plan is better than the another, but whether the candidates possess the political skills to get their plans enacted.

According to the U.S. Constitution (Article II) the President of the United States is not empowered to unilaterally pass into law any of those great plans that the three presidential candidates are offering the Nation. First he or she must convince Congress to enact and fund the plans. (Article I).

The most important qualification for a Chief Executive, therefore, is not the ability come up with plans, but to be able to reach across party lines and work with members of Congress and political leaders of all persuasions.

A good example is Abraham Lincoln. Compared with his opponents in the 1860 presidential race, Lincoln had no preconceived plans to deal with the turmoil then facing the Nation and scarcely any political experience. Four terms in the Illinois House of Representatives and one term in the U.S. House was all. (Less than Obama) What Lincoln had that his highly-experience opponents lacked was the ability to work with Congress and win the support of the best and brightest politicians of the day, Republicans, Democrat and Whigs alike. Half his cabinet was comprised of former political enemies.

By Lincoln standards, then, it would appear that the highly divisive, confrontational Hillary Clinton would not make a good President. That former officials in her husband's administration are not endorsing her--Bill "Judas" Richardson, Dick Morris, Robert Reich; that so many influential Democrats in Congress are enthusiastically backing Barack Obama--Ted Kenney, John Kerry, Chris Dodd--does not speak well for Hillary's political and social skills.
.
Note that of the 20 bills she managed to get enacted during her eight years in the Senate, 16 were for ceremonial stuff, like naming court houses and post offices, honoring individuals, and congratulating lacrosse teams.

Then factor in the inevitable meddling of her scandal-tainted husband, her de facto running mate, and a Hillary Clinton administration would invariably come to grief (maybe another impeachment) within its first year.

The relatively inexperienced Barak Obama and, more so, the independent-thinking John McCain would be more in keeping with the Lincoln model.

I have come to the conclusion that anyone who supports HRC does so at their own peril! If you think for one second that she will do anything for you or this country (except continue along the Bushco philosophy of RAPE AND PILLAGE) then you are sadly mistaken. HRC is a mean and sadistic manipulator and her supporters must be masochistic because they like being USED AND ABUSED. The only reason she gives the appearance of even having a moment for you (ACTING like she "cares" which is only an ACT and not a very good one at that) is because she wants to USE YOU to get your VOTE. That is the only thing you mean to her - a vote. So if you want to be USED AND ABUSED, go ahead - that is your business. And if she manages to STEAL this nomination, you will DESERVE everything she "gives" you which will be more rape and pillage of this country and your tax dollar!

Talk about "closing the deal"! What's wrong with the Clintons? They can't close any deal because too many people - old and young - know that they are simply LIARS, CROOKS AND SNAKES. Who wants that for a POTUS? No, no, not I!!!! P.S. And there are too many of us supporting Obama that even if Billary steals this nomination, she will absolutely not win the GE. Furthermore if she thinks we will have forgotten about her slimy methods in 2012, she is sorely mistaken - WE WILL NEVER FORGET! Someone give them that message!!!

To loveUS

The reason is morals have degraded and those of like kind don't find much faault with each other. Obama received a lot of free passes in the media, however...
Tuesday's primary was the first since Obama's Wright and San Francisco fiascos where exposure of Obamas close
relationship to shady characters and his negative remarks about small town people have shown his true character. He lost Pennsylvania by almost 10 percent, even though he FAR outspent Clinton on advertising. They both had baggage, but Obama's is now in the open and Clinton now has a more fair shake, except likely for North Carolina. The unfortunate thing for Clinton is that had Obama's character been better known in the earlier primaries, the results would be different today.

We democrats need to remember that "real people' are voting to keep hillary alive in this contest. Hillary isn't keeping herself alive, nor the media. Voters are. For those who want this over? Why? This is an amazing contest. We are all thinking about issues like never before. In the end we really have two great choices. I would prefer hillary, but i am more than happy to vote for obama. Neither is bad. Both are smart, articulate and will hopefully work their asses off for us.

OBAMA STILL TAKES OIL MONEY

By Dan Morain

Sen. Barack Obama continued accepting donations from oil company executives and employees last month even as he aired ads in which he stated he took no oil company money, his campaign finance reports show.

Obama has taken at least $263,000 from oil company executives, family members and employees since entering the presidential race last year, including $46,000 last month. At least $140,000 has come in chunks of between $1,000 and $2,300, the maximum permitted under federal law.

Texas oil executive Robert L. Cavnar of Milagro Exploration and his wife, Gracie, have helped the Illinois Democrat raise at least another $50,000 by helping host a fundraiser earlier in the campaign.

Other oil industry donors have included Sinclair Oil President Ross Matthews of Texas and John B. Hess, chairman of Hess Corp., a New York-based oil producer and retailer with operations worldwide.

Hess, who has given to other presidential candidates, including Sen. John McCain, gave $2,300 to Obama last year, as did his wife, Susan. Hess gave $14,000 to Obama's Senate run in 2003. The oil executives did not return phone calls.

In the weeks leading up to the Pennsylvania primary, Obama aired a campaign spot in Indiana and Pennsylvania that sought to reinforce his theme that he would change the Washington culture, while also tapping into voter distress about the high price of gasoline. In the ad, he called for a windfall profits "penalty."

"Since the gas lines of the '70s, Democrats and Republicans have talked about energy independence but nothing's changed -- except now Exxon's making $40 billion a year and we're paying $3.50 for gas. I'm Barack Obama. I don't take money from oil companies or Washington lobbyists, and I won't let them block change anymore," says the spot, which aired as recently as April 8.

Obama's ad is factually correct. He does not take money from oil companies. A 1907 federal law bars all corporations from giving money to political candidates. However, oil company employees can make donations.

As the ad aired, Obama took $12,400 from oil company executives and employees in increments of $1,000 or more. Altogether, people who identify themselves as working for oil and gas companies donated $46,000 in March.

Obama spokesman Ben Labolt said unlike Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and McCain, Obama refused to take money from federal lobbyists and political action committees.

"He accepted no contributions from oil and gas company political action committees, or from those who are paid to lobby Congress on behalf of oil and gas companies -- the money that is intended to purchase influence and access on behalf of corporate interests," Labolt said.

Clinton countered Obama's ad with one detailing his oil company-related donations from employees and executives of Exxon and other major petroleum companies.

Factcheck.org, part of the Annenberg School of Communications at the University of Pennsylvania, also chastised Obama for airing the spot.

"From our perspective, if there is a distinction between oil company PACs and lobbyists, and their executives, it is a mighty fine line," said Sheila Krumholz, director of the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics, which tracks campaign donations. "They all represent the same interest -- oil."

Bill Mintz, communications director for Apache Corp., a Houston-based oil company, said his decision to give -- he contributed $2,300 in February before Obama's ad aired -- was neither solicited by his company executives nor by Obama's campaign.

Mintz said in an interview that the Obama ad did not make him regret his donation. But he also said the spot underscored what he saw as a persistent problem in the political discourse over energy.

"I don't think either party is addressing the country's and world's energy needs realistically," Mintz said. "We're not going to produce our way out of this and we're not going to solve the problem with conservation and alternative energy."

Hillary has $100 Million in her chest that can only be used in the General Election against McCain.

Obama CAN NOT win against McCain. The majority of states he won against Clinton are solidly Republican, and Obama can forget Florida and Michigan in the GE.

Please....wake up people. The honey moon is over !

Posted by: Julie from Georgia | April 24, 2008 11:18 AM

This is a good article, but it's a little misleading to say that Obama is seeking to "win back" blue collar workers in southern Indiana. He didn't ever have these workers and out-of-workers, so it's a matter of winning them in the first place.

The Clintons who are trying for another spell in the White House are kind of a default position for many of us. Obama has got to get himself better known in parts of the state beyond the Chicago or Illinois media effect. If he doesn't he won't make it. If he does he will win (but not win back).

Another good article on some of this in some other newspaper is

I don't want to be party or to have to deal with the implications of such in my life. The more people learn what black theology and Nation of Islam mulsins are the more it will devide.

Our president surly has no place on that kind of position. This will not unite the races anymore than a KKK president would.

HRC is not a leader - she behaves like a scam artist who panders to whatever audience she is speaking to (I'll bet that was her first shot of Whiskey in decades), is willing to play whatever cards will get her ahead (invoking Bin Laden in a scare ad extremely similar to the Bush terrorist ad with the wolves). Haven't we seen this movie before?

Does anyone think that she would just leave those ways behind if she got elected?

Here are a few features in our national leader that SHOULD trump all other traits and issues, are in stark contrast to HRC, and are the Obama trademarks:

1.) Forthcoming. Remember what this word means? Obama does. Obama gives answers without skirting the questions, daring to talk to Americans like adults, and in more than sound bites, challenges them to consider the situation in its full context.

2.) Honest. He says what he thinks despite the audience. e.g. When speaking in Detroit to a group of automakers, he was pushing much higher fuel efficiency standards and alternative fuels. And despite their lack of enthusiasm, switching to some new products may just save those companies.

3.) Leadership. Leadership is not achieved simply by standing in front. Being a leader is knowing the issues, assimilating ideas, then bringing people together, and yes, inspiring them to better themselves and their country. The other campaigns discount Obama's speaking ability on a regular basis, but when someone can convey so well what it is they are thinking, it becomes impossible to believe they are making it up - contrast that to Bush and Clinton.

4.) Judgement. This is the most important of all. Experience without good judgement means nothing. Obama has an impressive depth of knowledge and balanced judgement. His race speech spoke volumes to his understanding of such a complex situation with centuries of history.

Obama should be our next president.

People are losing site of the fact Hillary would be ahead if Micigan and Florida voters were counted. They will be in November and they will remember being disqualified.

Racism, yes it's alive and well and has been taught at Trinity church since 1979. Black Theology has been taught there since 1979. Black Theology teaches black people their problems are because of "white" people. Look it up, please. Also look up Nation of Islam, wikipedia.org/wiki/Nation_of_Islam, Black Muslim
and read the platform, this is in line with Black Theoeogy. Look at this link it shows Trinity has been teaching/preaching :http://chronicle.uchicago.edu/000316/hopkins.shtml , Why is everyone turning a blind eye to this?

Black Theology and Black Muslim have nothing to do with religon. Black Theology and Black Muslim is a MOVEMENT. Please read the links and decide for yourself. Black preachers of all dominations are teaching Black Theology, again, not a religon a movement.

hey "you might be an idiot"

35 years of experience =

- 15 years as a corporate attorney defending corporations against the ordinary folk like me

- 10 years on the board of the union-busting WalMart

How you make an "elitist" out of a community organizer? Same way you swiftboat a war hero to defend a draft-dodging moron -- you just keep REPEATING THE SAME THING TO CONTROL THE ASSES....ER MASSES.

"You might be an idiot" if you don't look deeper and do your research and you just repeat what you've been told.

and "You are an idiot" to distort where Obama is getting his money. I give a mere 25 bucks a month. Everyone i know gives that or more. There are 1.5 MILLION OF US. You can't deny that and try to paint him as being in the pocket of the special interests.

And on that note: last i checked, mark penn was a lobbyist!!!

You Clintonites are so blind to the facts, it's insane.

Posted by: i am an idiot i guess | April 24, 2008 12:22 AM

I really think that John McCain, whose wife has $100 million, and the Clintons, who made $100 million in just 8 years are out of touch. Obama was making $12,000 as a community organizer before working his way to law school. He knows exactly what we're going through.

Pennsylvania and Ohio, which are key states in November, will both go for Obama if just 65% of the people who voted for Clinton vote for Obama. These are states that want their economies back. Florida will be tough for Obama, but I wouldn't be suprised if he pulled off a win in Texas, which is changing rapidly. California, New York, New Jersey are a lock.

He will win a few smaller states. Obama is going to see some support by the corporate folks with the real power because they know more Bush will mean an eventual collapse of their corporations and profits, and it ain't good for anybody.

Thank you for saying that Obama fled PA. None of the TV commentators seemed to notice that Obama NEVER GAVE A CONCESSION SPEECH. Besides conceding the race, the purpose of a concession speech is to thank all the supporters who worked for a candidate. Obama showed a lack of appreciation by not saying a simple thank you to all the organizers, campaign workers and voters who supported him in PA. He never said a thank you to the politicians in PA who endorsed him or the newspapers who endorsed him. He used his equal time on TV after Hillary's victory speech to give a campaign rally speech in IN. Maybe his campaign managers thought that was smart, but it was dumb to not even say one sentence about PA -- at least to say thank you to all the people who went door to door and worked his phone banks and did his mailers and got the vote out for him. Why is a campaign that is supposedly based on hope, the future, and all that other b.s. attracting so much hate? The Clinton-haters need to get over one thing -- she has alot of support and your candidate can't close the deal. I think the NC GOP ads are the tip of the iceberg.

Notice how it's always "about" the states that Hillary should or could win, and NEVER about the states Obama should or could win.

Why isn't it about NORTH CAROLINA where Obama will trounce her. I'm hoping for a 20 point spread. You know how disrespectful the media will be... "oh there's lots of black folks there so it doesn't matter." If it's not that, then it's "oh, its a caucus so it is a bunch of activists" or "oh its a red state and dems won't win there in nov."

The media does keep this bloodlust alive. And the reason? not to hard to figure out. The good ole' Murdoch boys out there. Media is all RIGHT WING controlled. So, naturally they'll help their own by destroying us.

Too bad HRC just doesn't get it. She's so blinded by this kamikaze mission, that she can't see the forest from the trees.

and oh yeah, thanks for whoever keeps reminding us....

SHE VOTED FOR THE WAR

Posted by: Good points | April 23, 2008 11:28 PM

bad economy (it's the economy stupid) + unpopular war + 16 years of clintons and bushes = Obama over McCain in Landslide.

Posted by: eljefejesus | April 23, 2008 11:25 PM

I agree with the comment about the Media.

The media is losing credibility:

The news of Hillary's survival has been greater exagerated.

But it's not just fox news.
It's ABC and CNN.

Not that CNN would whor* itself out for ratings (ahem, lou dobbs, cough cough).

First there was "fair and balanced" in quotations by fox news.

Now there's CNN, america's biggest poser of a respectable news medium.

And the ABC debate... the people have spoke about that one on the blogs.

It's all good for Hillary, she may yet coerce a vice Presidential spot out of the Obama campaign despite the bitter pill she would become to entice Republicans to unite against her... then again, not gonna happen.

Obama will beat McCain in 08 by a landslide.

MY FELLOW "BITTER", STUPID, WORKING CLASS PEOPLE :-)

If you think like Barack Obama, that WORKING CLASS PEOPLE are just a bunch of "BITTER"!, STUPID, PEASANTS, Cash COWS!, and CANNON FODDER. :-(

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think Barack Obama with little or no experience would be better than Hillary Clinton with 35 years experience.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience can fix an economy on the verge of collapse better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) led the greatest economic expansion, and prosperity in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience fighting for universal health care can get it for you better than Hillary Clinton. Who anticipated this current health care crisis back in 1993, and fought a pitched battle against overwhelming odds to get universal health care for all the American people.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience can manage, and get us out of two wars better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) went to war only when he was convinced that he absolutely had to. Then completed the mission in record time against a nuclear power. AND DID NOT LOSE THE LIFE OF A SINGLE AMERICAN SOLDIER. NOT ONE!

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience saving the environment is better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) left office with the greatest amount of environmental cleanup, and protections in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with little or no education experience is better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) made higher education affordable for every American. And created higher job demand and starting salary's than they had ever been before or since.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience will be better than Hillary Clinton who spent 8 years at the right hand of President Bill Clinton. Who is already on record as one of the greatest Presidents in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that you can change the way Washington works with pretty speeches from Obama, rather than with the experience, and political expertise of two master politicians ON YOUR SIDE like Hillary and Bill Clinton..

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think all those Republicans voting for Obama in the Democratic primaries, and caucuses are doing so because they think he is a stronger Democratic candidate than Hillary Clinton. :-)

Best regards

jacksmith... Working Class :-)

p.s. You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you don't know that the huge amounts of money funding the Obama campaign to try and defeat Hillary Clinton is coming in from the insurance, and medical industry, that has been ripping you off, and killing you and your children. And denying you, and your loved ones the life saving medical care you needed. All just so they can make more huge immoral profits for them-selves off of your suffering...

You see, back in 1993 Hillary Clinton had the audacity, and nerve to try and get quality, affordable universal health care for everyone to prevent the suffering and needless deaths of hundreds of thousands of you each year. :-)

Approx. 100,000 of you die each year from medical accidents from a rush to profit by the insurance, and medical industry. Another 120,000 of you die each year from treatable illness that people in other developed countries don't die from. And I could go on, and on...

Posted by: jacksmith | April 23, 2008 11:14 PM

Obama is human. Hillary is reptillian and false.
Give yourselves the chance to recover from 2 terms of Bush and Co. ripping off the American taxpayer - after all who pays for war and who has profited from it?
America can't afford to fund an international police force. It only fuels animosity.
If you can save on military spending to the tune of billions per week, what will you choose to invest that in? Jobs? Housing? Medical Care?
It's not about gender or race - Margaret Thatcher? -uuggh, Mugabe? -groan, it's about the individual you choose to represent you.
Good luck America.
Good luck America

As I see it, I don't think Mr. Obama is electable. He simply lacks any applicable experience at running anything close to the Federal government such as a State or some sort of large company. He is an outstanding speaker.

By the way, Mrs. Clinton nor Mr. McCain seem to be any better qualified. We have a field of bad choices this election cycle.

I am an "uncomitted," white, educated, older woman voter from Metro Detroit who supports Obama because of his ability to speak rationally, unite not divide, take a position that is not always popular, listen to others'views, etc. In other words, he has good character which I am not seeing in the Clinton camp right now. I may be disenfranchised in Michigan, but I still pay my taxes to a government that is the laughing stock of the world. We need Obama right now!

How's worshiping at the church of "God Damn America" for 20 years a stumble?? That is something that he chose to do and should be resigning from the Senate, not trying to get into the White House. How come we spend billions fighting terrorists and allow such people to serve in the Senate and run for presidency?

I support Obama, but the party switchers in this campaign went 2-1 for Obama and around 70% of new voters went for Obama.

Hillary was supposed to win Pennsylvania all along and Barack had to spend millions in light of all the controversies to cut that deficit in half. I can admit it was still a big loss, but for the Hillay campaign to spin this as some miraculous victory is just plain laughable Spin.

Eveyone in this country says they hate negative campaigning, yet it still works. Hillary's kitchen sink strategy will only get stronger and Obama still needs to stay above the fray and stay on message. He should not be afraid to respond forcefully to Hillarys GOP tactics, but he should not initiated it.

Keep the high road Obama! Stay focused, maybe adjust your stump speech a bit, and enjoy victory in June!!!!

Please don't take this literally. Please keep in mind this is pure, over-the-top, emotional hyperbole. But what I literally was thinking today was "why won't Hillary die?"

She's smacking her lips 'cause she thinks she smells blood. No, Hillary. We won't let you steal America's hope to feed your bloodlust. We, as a country, need Barack Obama now. We do not need more self-entitled royal families figure-heading for the ruling class of international bankers, insurance execs, big pharma, military-industrial-media complex kingpins, and globalists.

There have been a huge number of "conversions" of Republicans to the Democratic party. Rush Limbaugh is calling for them to do that and vote for Hillary. If that doen't tell us who the Republicans are fearing most nothing will.

I heard about the large voter turnout, and over 300k registered to vote democrat. Are the replublican up to there old tricks again. Registering democrat to vote for Hillary. U know Obama was expected to take more counties than he did. Its unethical, as many of Hillary and Bill's affairs are. Its sad that the country embraces this crook and pathelogical liar.Drag her out by her short hairs.

Posted by: Larry | April 23, 2008 9:31 PM

I read the Democratic Party is already planning retribution against Hillary Rodem Clinton. It will be more than dragging her out by her heels. It is over. The media is just loving all this crap and keeping it alive. Makes them seem important. I guess. Mostly the media is stupid, some of the stuff they say. Democratic party will pick Obama and support him in the nomination, else the Black Americans will retaliate and vote for John McCain.

Posted by: Carolina | April 23, 2008 9:25 PM

Indiana does not have the large "older, white woman" demographic that Ohio and PA have. Indiana is one of the yougest states demographically. I, however, am an old white woman, didn't graduate from college, make under 50,000 a year, catholic--so how come I'm going to be voting for Obama on May 6? Because he is our chance to restore trust and transparency in and to our government. He will have coat tails to help get a substantial majority in congress. He will get us out of Iraq CAREFULLY taking into consideration the facts on the ground. He will not start another war in the Middle East which Clinton and McCain have been threatening. There's more, but, I'm old and tired and so sick of this primary campaign.

Posted by: Sueb2 | April 23, 2008 9:25 PM

And now Indiana? We in NC have more than twice the delegates as Indiana. Could it be because Hillary is going to get smoked here? Could it be that the media have been talking her up to keep the story alive and the money coming in? Hillary has been played for a fool by Rush Limbaugh and the media. I almost feel sorry for her. Almost.

No Obama didn't flee, he moved on to the next contest. Hillary should have won that state and she did. Obama could have won it if he didn't stumble, so what. Obama can win in November, period. Obama is still in the lead and will be at the convention. Hillary will have to be dragged out on her heels. The superdelegates need to get with it and cast their votes so this can all end. I am getting sick of it. I am 24 and am waiting on my voter registration papers. I live in Ok and my vote really doesn't count because I am a democrat, but I will not even go if Hillary gets this nomination. Obama needs the nomination now, so he can get his party behind him and start campaigning against John McCain or we are going to put another republican in the white house. VOTE OBAMA 08!!!! AND GET ON WITH IT!!!
