The Fact Checker

Did Obama "lie" about Ayers?

The McCain campaign claims that Barack Obama "lied" about his relationship with the former Weather Underground leader Bill Ayers. It would be more accurate to say that he "told the truth slowly." ( 4:48 PM ET) | More »

Dan Balz's Take

Clinton, in Her Element

Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton waves to supporters as she takes the stage at a rally in Hendersonville, N.C., May 2, 2008. (Associated Press)

By Dan Balz
KINSTON, N.C. -- The time is short and so her days are long. Most begin very early in the morning. They almost always stretch late into the night. Rallies. Town hall meetings. Small gatherings. Rope lines. Local interviews. Network heavies. Hotel arrivals after midnight. It is an endless rotation, repeated over and over and over again.

Hillary Clinton heads into yet another pre-primary weekend knowing the script by heart. Back to the wall. Running out of options. Needing a victory. Her slim hopes of winning the Democratic nomination depend on victories -- and more. She needs Barack Obama to stumble, again. She needs superdelegates to start swinging back in her direction. She needs to overtake her rival in the popular vote. She needs a break on Florida and Michigan.

But at this point in the long race, Clinton has found a groove, pushing forward relentlessly, demonstrating with each stop that she will not yield until she is finally defeated.

She has throttled back on some of the hot rhetoric that marked her closing days before the Ohio primary. She is less pure fighter than she was in Ohio. But she is no less resilient or determined. North Carolina Gov. Mike Easely, who has endorsed her candidacy, said Friday morning Clinton is "as tough as a lighter knot," a regionalism that refers to the hardest spots on a piece of pine wood. That brought a smile from the candidate.

Clinton has found a home -- and a potentially receptive audience -- among rural Democrats. The rural strategy worked to precision in Ohio, where she swept virtually everything outside the big cities. Her Indiana and North Carolina schedules reflect the same approach. Small towns. Middle-class and working-class. Older voters. Women.

In Ohio they had seen the worst that economic upheaval can deliver and she played to their plight. In Indiana and North Carolina, she is focused on the strain almost every working family is feeling now, touching whatever chords she can with her audiences.

In Indiana on Thursday, surrounded by daughter Chelsea and mother Dorothy Rodham, she spoke at length about concerns that women and parents have. In Kinston Friday morning, she talked agriculture and the programs she helped organize in upstate New York to help growers find markets for their products.

Her core message, as she says now repeatedly, is "jobs, jobs, jobs." Her secondary message is that she delivers. "When I tell you I'll do something, I'll do it, or move heaven and earth" trying, she said. And there is also a heavy dose of reassurance that she will be a president who will represent the needs of working families.

That, above all else, is what lies behind her proposal to suspend the gasoline tax this summer and slap a windfall profits tax on the oil companies to pay for it. "I want the Congress to stand up and vote," she said Friday. "Are they for the oil companies or are they for you?"

Congress may never come close to answering that question, given the opposition of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, but that is of no matter to Clinton. She only wants voters in Indiana and North Carolina to know where she stands.

The pace can be punishing but she offers few public signs of the exhaustion she and Obama must feel. There is an occasional scratchy voice. When it struck Thursday in Indiana, she turned the microphone over to her daughter for a detailed recitation of how her health care plan would help a woman in the audience who was injured on the job.

Clinton attacks the rope line with more gusto than her husband, who invented the genre in modern campaigns. Methodically moving along the metal security barriers, she signs endless autographs on everything imaginable -- placards, scraps of paper, photos, books. "Ha Ha! Hillary," she scrawled in large letters on the T-shirt of one young man in Terre Haute.

She roared when someone asked her to sign a placard that read, "I've got a crush on Hillary." She laughed even harder over a T-shirt worn by another man with Bill Clinton's likeness superimposed over a painting of Jesus. She signed boxing gloves -- one red and the other pink -- and posed endlessly for photos.

The rope line in Terre Haute late Thursday was dominated by women of all ages, who are as passionate in their support of Clinton as Obama supporters are for their candidate. "I'm going to pray for her everyday and this country, because we're in trouble, said Linda Nicoson, who was wearing a T-shirt plastered with Hillary buttons.

Asked what she though of Obama, she said, "I don't think he knows enough about the country. We can promise anything, but until we get in the White House we can't do anything, and he doesn't know what's behind closed doors. That woman does."

A few feet farther along, 85-year-old Martha Love waited to pose with Clinton. "I think she's got more up here" -- she pointed to her head -- than anybody we've had yet," she said. Her daughter Janet beamed. "Mom's as strong [for Hillary] as anybody could be," she said.

This is Kentucky Derby week and there were many references to the horserace as Clinton campaigned in southern Indiana and across the border in Louisville, Ky., where one sign at her headquarters said, "Clinton in a Derby Mile," and another said, "I'm bettin' on the filly." The candidate picked up on the theme. "I just wish I could be here for the Derby," she said. "Chelsea's going to be here. I want everybody to place a little money on the filly."

That is still a bet with long odds. But Clinton makes clear every day she intends to run the race to the finish line.

Can Clinton clinch North Carolina? She IS supposed to be catching up, you know...

They will want to throw the bumbs out given the economy and the wars, no more clintons, no more bush, no more dynasties' dirty looks.

I just want to reply to the comment posted by "Darrell" by saying that I am with you all the way,I will be voting for Hillary Clinton on May 20th when Kentucky holds our primary.I hope she wins in every state that hasn't voted yet.North Carolina will be her biggest challenge, but Hillary is a fighter and she has proven that she won't back down from any challenge. My 25 year old daughter got me interested in this primary by talking to me constantly about why she supports Hillary.I was a John Edwards supporter then when he dropped out I didn't really know who I would vote for.But after listening to what Hillary has to say about the issues,I realized I would be a fool not to support this woman. As a man,it is hard for me to admit it but she is smarter than any of the men I have voted for over the past 30 years.I do intend to vote for John McCain in the general election if Hillary is denied this nomination. There is no way I will ever vote for Barack Obama.I am a christian and I have heard the angry ranting of his pastor,Rev.Wright, and there is no way I could vote for a man who sat in the pews of that church for 20 years and says he never heard these angry anti-american sermons.I would never let my kids or grandson sit in a church that believes it's o.k to scream "GOD DAM* AMERICA".I have also noticed how rude and negative some of his supporters are.Like the one who posted the comments that Kentucky and W.Virginia are not states, that we are the armpits of the U.S.A.,but I also noticed whoever posted those comments didn't have the nerve to post his or her name,or even make up a fake one. That looks like a coward to me.I guess whoever posted those comments is un-educated,as they like to call those of us who support Hillary. Ky is a state I am proud to call home.Maybe that Obama supporter has never heard of Fort Knox,Mammoth Cave,The Kentucky Derby,or the Kentucky Wildcats just to name a few well known places or events in Ky.I guess the Obama supporter who left those comments doesn't know Ky.was the birthplace of Pres.Abraham Lincoln, but they probably know it is the birthplace of Miley Cyrus(Hannah Montana).I hope every person in Ky.,W.Virginia,and Puerto Rico has read those nasty comments and cast their vote for the ONLY hope the democrats have of winning the general election, that is Hillary Clinton.I also wanted to reply to another comment posted by an Obama supporter who said that Hillary is the reason we are paying 4.00 for a gallon of gas;maybe they were in diapers in the 90's and don't remember how low gas prices were under Bill Clinton.Gas prices are 3 times higher now than they were under Bill Clinton,I remember gas getting as low as .95 cents.Hillary wants to help lower gas prices right now by supporting the gas tax holliday, which Obama is against. He says it will only save 28.00,well that is 28.00 more we would have in our wallets. If they don't give us a break on gas during the summer then people will be paying 5.00 a gallon by labor day.To all of those in Indiana and N.Carolina, all we have to do is listen to these 2 candidates and the solution is clear, let's all vote for the candidate who can win in November, let's all vote for the candidate who has been a public servant for 35 years, let's all vote for the candidate who can relieve our economic woes, let's all vote for the candidate who can bring our brave men and women home from Iraq, let's all vote for the candidate who is not afraid to take action against Iran if needed, let's all vote for the candidate who will keep us safe and stand up and protect Israel, let's all vote for the candidate who cares about ALL of us no matter what race or gender we may be-I know Hillary is that person and that is why she is getting my vote.I have not forgotten the comment Obama himself made about rural americans clinging to guns and religion because we are bitter.I may drive a pick-up truck with a gunrack in the back and go hunting and fishing sometimes, but it's not because I'm bitter it is because I am an outdoor sportsman. I don't go to church because I'm bitter,I go to church to be uplifted by the word of God and to fellowship with others. It seems to me that if you are a bitter church goer then you must have been listening to Rev.Wright, his ranting would make anyone bitter.Kentucky will go blue in Nov.if Hillary is our nominee,if it's Obama then we will stay red.Keep on fighting for us Hillary,I promise that Kentucky will keep fighting for you.GOD BLESS HILLARY CLINTON!

Yes, Hillary is in her element. Always fighting and moving forward. Many who dislike her do so on the basis that she likes "power". This may be so, but many, like me, would like to give all the power needed to her.
She sure deserves this power. A power that we know will be backed by knowledge, substance, grit, fortitute, and a profound comittment to GET things done. She has a brilliant intellect and is ambitious and I have no doubt in my mind she will deliver and would want to leave behind a legacy of accomplishments. That is what her life has been all about. Always the A+ student, top 100 lawyer, top at her game, top mom, top daughter and top wife even in the face of humiliation. Mr. Obama is another politician who claims to be an outsider. Nothing could be further from the truth. He has a mediocre record, is inexperienced and his identity is a question mark. I think of him as "caught in between", between races, between religions, between cultures and who knows what else. Unfortunately, we are learning too late of his deep and long associations with questionable characters. Some of these clearly outline decades of indoctrination of racial divisionism, hatred, anti-semitism, and radicalism. It is either that or stupidity (NOT) or political convenience and opportunism. Either one of these shows a MAJOR and FUNDAMENTAL FLAW IN THE CHARACTER AND JUDGMENT an ingredient that is so fundamental to consider and without which we can not discuss ANYTHING else.

Hillary Clinton has it all: experience, a knowledge base over and above the average candidate, intellect that borders genius, but most importantly common sense. This woman can help get America back to being great. A tall order! Those of us in the medical community know of the severe crisis in healthcare that needs to be addressed STAT. The other huge huge issues are the occupation of Iraq, economic situation of most Americans, and environmental concerns of enormous consequences. Clinton is the only one that can take on these issues and be successful.

Posted by: Jackson | May 4, 2008 9:35 AM | Report abuse

First, I want to say the "dead" post is brilliant, we cannot forget our soldiers and I think them (and their families!) for their service. Second, Sen. Clinton did not vote to authorize war, she voted to give her President the power -- if needed -- that power was abused by Bush and he is responsible for the consequences of Iraq. Third, the rules are that Michigan and Florida can petition the DNC for an alternative way to be counted; and, last but not least, Sen. Obama did not keep his name on the ballot in Michigan because there was not time to change his decision to skip Michigan voters because he thought he could not get their votes, but he did keep his name on the ballot in FL because he, belatedly realized those votes might count in the end. You can look at this only one way: He was not smart enough to know the rules of his own Party. I say the majority of the delegates in both states go to the smartest candidate -- Sen. Clinton.

Hillary will be "in her element" as President. And I am in my element supporting her all the way!

Posted by: Uma | May 4, 2008 3:29 AM | Report abuse

I have analayzed this situation very carefully. And the one thing I have have learned is that people who degrade other people to make themselves look better have a complex and that is what they do to make themselves feel better. It is true some people get cheated though no fault of thier own by people who think they know oh so much and don't even have a clue. Yes, it true there have been many mistake made. Yes, we probably could have saved many lives before the war started if we had done something sooner. And no I don't think I know everything, but if I know I am right, yes, I will try to let someone know. If they are to ignorant to listen that is not my fault. Yes, this world has many issues that need to be addressed. And some have already been taken care of in a sense. This election should not be about race or gender. And I hope and pray that some people will come to thier senses before it is to late. The only hope our Democratic Party has is Hillary. We don't need the rebels leading the world. I hope some of these young people come to thier senses and quit being brainwashed by Obama. Sure he might offer them something now but when he is in office it will be a much different story. And yes, I think Rev. Wright summed it up rather well. Obama is a typical poltiician. At first I took into consideration Obama's views. But when I saw him teach our young people to show disrespect to our elders I decided then and there this was not the messsage our youth needed. And our youth don't need to be taught anti-war. What kind of individual would not be willing to stand for thier country. I have heard some of the comments that Obama has made and his wife also. They are Anti-American, people is this what we need to represent us. It's time we get real we all can sit or stand at keyboards and blow of steam but what does that accomplish. We need more soldiers out in the fields that are willing to go the extra mile it takes even though they don't have exzactly what they need to pull something off and still succeed and they do it by the grace of God. Not a God ---- God! We need to get America back to morals, something many don't have left at this point and work together to save what we have left because it's not looking good for any of us. Maybe Rev. Wright was posessed with satan when he carried on that way, let's pray that he gets better. You know that Satan attacks God's people when they are doing good . Let's pray that Rev. Wright gets better and don't let Satan attack him again. And let's also pray that Obama will quit trying to posess our youth, beating in thier heads they have a right to be against war. Face it God doesn't wish it to be this way. And things won't get better until we start trying to work together to bring ourselves together. We need to realize that more is not always better. To much drama and not enough action. I going to support Hilllary because I know she is like me, When the going gets tough the tough keep going and trust me that is definately what our country needs now. I think Obama is already ready for a vaction, or at least that is what some of his supporters said. Do you think he is going to the Bahams the week he is elected? I am not being mean I am being honest, To many times we see politicans promise everything and we get nothing. Hillary knows whoever wins is going to have a tough job and it's going to take someone who is tough to make our country better. Hillary hasn't give up yet, even though she has had to deal with all this malaroky. So that means she's tough. O.k. youth, 9 out 10 times when you have an issue who solves it? Mom or Dad? Obama will be like most dad's he'll say ask your Mom. So why not elect MOM?

Attention To Al Hillary Supporters From DarrellP!!

Hillary should not quit this race just to make the Gender-biased media or the Obama's Campaign and supporters happy. Obama is not experienced enough to be President, the only reason Obama is ahead is because some of the Republicans crossed over in some primaries to help Obama become the nominee to make it easier for McCain to win the general election, when that time comes if Obama is the nominee, these same Republicans and Independents will go back to party lines and vote for McCain, So in the long-term, Obama has not gained anything but a sure lose to McCain, because after The Republican Swiftboat Machine get through with him, he'd wish he stepped down and gave the nomination to a more experienced candidate like Hillary, the Swiftboaters will eat Novice Obama alive, causing us to lose the General election for sure, at least we have a better chance with Hillary bringing home the Presidency for our party.

I'm suggesting that all Hillary Supporters not unite behind Obama or the DNC if Hillary is not the nominee, because the way she was biasedly and unfairly treated by the Gender-biased media and the Obama campaign, All Hillary supporters at that time should either stay home, vote for Hillary as a write-in Candidate, vote for Mcain, or Nader, this is to protest the DNC, the media, and Obama's campaign for not being fair and balanced towards Hillary,

If Hillary was losing fair and square, I would not be calling on all Hillary supporters to do everything they could in the general election to help block Obama's Presidency, but since they did not want to play fair, We should not unite the party around Obama who's truly not prepared to take on this office and be able to clean-up and fix the mess Bush will leave behind, Hillary is prepared now to step up to the plate, and start turning this Country around on "Day One" of her Presidency as oppose to Obama who needs a lot of "On The Job Training" before he could even start doing the duties of the President.

Obama should be the one to step down and let someone with experience and know-how like Hillary to fix America's ills, and then in four more years, Maybe just Maybe gave Obama a chance to continue fixing and enhancing what Hillary has done in her 4 or 8 year term to turn this Country in the right direction, Obama is still very young in age and on the national Political scene, so he would have his chance to be President again, but for now, Obama needs more time in the Senate in order to strenghen his skills in Congress and than run for President after gaining a little more experience.

I hope all Hillary Supporters follow my lead, if Obama get's the nomination, try and block his Presidency and vote for Hillary as an write-in candidate, vote for McCain, Nader, or Stay home in protest of the DNC throwing Hillary under the Bus to nominate a less experienced candidate than Hillary, I'm also considering leaving the Democratic Party and going Independent if Hillary does not get the Nomination, I just can't back a candidate who I don't trust or have confidence in to do the job of uniting this country and fixing the mess Bush will leave behind, I hope other strong Hillary Supporters will follow my lead, no uniting this party around Obama or the DNC, go Independent if you have to like I will if Hillary quits, forced, or pressured out of this race. I see that many males and a few females are still having a problem with women trying to become President in this country, the glass ceiling is still so ever present when it comes to a woman trying to run for the highest office in the free world, so some voters, the DNC Leadership, and some in Congreess would rather put up a inexperienced male candidate over an experienced woman candidate to be President what a shame, well, I will not support it, I'm voting for a candidate soley based on his or her experience to do the job effectively, not on race or gender, Hillary meets that standard and criteria now.

Go Hillary!! Never Ever give-up, Never quit, fight until this nomination process is decided by the Superdelegates, because you or Obama can't win the nomination without the Superdelegates approval, and let the chips fall where they may. I still think you can win the nomination at the DNC Convention, don't get discouraged, because a lot of your strong supporters are still behind you, and have your back, this Presidency is worth staying in the race at all cost, because the steaks are too high just to turn the nomination over to a Novice Senator Obama, who has a lesser chance of beating McCain than you do, you will give McCain a run for his money, and that's what this party needs is a tough strong fighter to bring home the Presidency for our party, a whinning and complaining when things don't go his or her way want win this election for the Democrats that show a sign of weakness under pressure, we don't need a President like that, exspecially dealing with foriegn and domestic digniteries and policy issues afecting the smooth operation of this county's affairs.

TO THE OBAMA SUPPORTER WHO SAID THAT KENTUCKY AND WEST VIRGINIA ARE NOT STATES: APPARENTALLY YOU ARE NOT VERY EDUCATED WHEN IT COMES TO U.S HISTORY OR GEOGRAPHY BECAUSE YOU WOULD KNOW THAT KENTUCKY WAS ONE OF THE FIRST STATES FOUNDED IN THE UNITED STATES,AND IF YOU WERE A COLLEGE BASKETBALL FAN THEN YOU WOULD KNOW KENTUCKY WON THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP NOT THAT MANY YEARS AGO.WHERE DO YOU THINK THE KENTUCKY DERBY IS BEING HELD AT TODAY???IN THE STATE OF UTAH!?!?!? GIVE ME A BREAK.EVERYONE KNOWS THE KENTUCKY DERBY IS HELD IN THE STATE OF KENTUCKY.WHERE DO YOU THINK KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN RESTAURANTS GOT STARTED!?!?! IN THE STATE OF VERMONT-APPARENTLY THESE SMALLER STATES LIKE VERMONT AND IDAHO SEEM TO EXIST SINCE OBAMA WON THEM.THE ONLY REASON YOU ARE SAYING THAT KENTUCKY IS NOT A STATE IS BECAUSE YOU KNOW OBAMA DOES NOT HAVE A SNOWBALLS CHANCE IN HELL OF WINNING HERE.BUT EVEN OBAMA KNOWS THIS IS A STATE HE WILL HAVE TO COMPETE IN BECAUSE HE HAS BEEN POURING HIS RECOURCES INTO THIS STATE.APPARENTLY YOU THINK ALL OF KENTUCKY IS A BUNCH OF REDNECKS LIVING IN TRAILERS WHO KNOW NOTHING ABOUT POLITICS! I GUESS YOU DON'T REALIZE WE HAVE SEVERAL BIG CITIES,LOUISVILLE,LEXINGTON,BOWLING GREEN AND WE HAVE 2 VERY KNOWN COLLEGE BASKETBALL TEAMS THE UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY WILDCATS AND THE UNIVERSITY OF LOUISVILLE CARDINALS.OBAMA CAN THANK HIS SUPPORTERS FOR BEING SO RUDE BECAUSE I AM SURE THOSE WHO LIVE IN KENTUCKY AND WEST VIRGINIA WHO WERE THINKING OF VOTING FOR OBAMA MAY CHANGE THEIR MINDS WHEN THEY READ THESE COMMENTS SAYING THAT THESE 2 STATES DO NOT EXIST AND THAT TKENTUCKY AND WEST VIRGINIA ARE ARMPITS.I GUESS GUAM IS A STATE SINCE OBAMA WON THEIR CAUCUS TODAY AND YOU DIDN'T MENTION MONTANA OR S.DAKOTA SO APPARENTLY YOU THINK OBAMA WILL WIN THOSE STATES-UNLESS HE LOSES THEN YOU WILL BE SAYING THEY AREN'T STATES EITHER!!IT DOESN'T REALLY MATTER WHAT YOU SAY ABOUT KENTUCKY AND WEST VIRGINIA BECAUSE HILLARY IS GOING TO RING HIS BELL IN THOSE 2 UPCOMING PRIMARIES JUST LIKE SHE DID IN OHIO AND PENNSYLVANIA-AND JUST FOR THE RECORD I JUST FINISHED WATCHING THE ENTIRE SERMON REV.WRIGHT GAVE ON APRIL 13,2003 ON HANNITY'S AMERICA ON FOX NEWS AND IT REPLAYS AT MIDNIGHT EASTERN STANDARD TIME,THOSE WHO WATCH WILL SEE IT WASN'T JUST A "SNIPPETT"OF A SERMON AS OBAMA HAD ORIGINALLY SAID I WATCHED THE ENTIRE SERMON AND IT WAS ALL ANTI-AMERICAN AND HATE FILLED,I COULDN'T COUNT THE TIMES REV WRIGHT SAID GOD DAM* AMERICA.THE PEOPLE IN THE PEWS WERE LOVING IT THEY WERE JUMPING AND SHOUTING AS IF THEY HAD THE HOLY SPIRIT!!!I WOULDN'T VOTE FOR OBAMA NOW NO MATTER WHAT.IF HILLARY LOSES I WILL VOTE FOR JOHN MCCAIN,I WOULD RATHER VOTE AGAINST OBAMA THAN NOT TO VOTE AT ALL BECAUSE JUST LIKE HIS PASTOR OF 20 YEARS HAS SAID-OBAMA IS JUST A TYPICAL POLITICIAN WHO IS SAYING WHAT HE NEEDS TO SAY TO GET ELECTED-THAT IS WHY HE DIS-INVITED REV.WRIGHT WHEN HE ANNOUNCED HE WAS RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT.WE ALL KNOW ABOUT HILLARY'S BAGGAGE,BUT I WOULD RATHER VOTE FOR THE CANDIDATE I KNOW THAN THE ONE I HARDLY KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT.WHO KNOWS MAYBE REV.WRIGHT WILL REVEAL A LITTLE MORE TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ABOUT BARACK OBAMA!

No Paul, I am not joking. And Obama is no JFK. He is simply not ready.

To Humming Bird, I am happy you read the full post. I would have to say it deserves some attention. You should also do more than read it in order to condemn my thinking. Try giving it a little open minded thought. I am not pro Obama, I am pro America, including you - I am serious when I say think about it from your and your children's best interest.

To clarify, I am saying that America squanders the opportunity for itself. I say nothing about anyone taking their "toys" (and you say I am nasty? - he is fully grown and as experienced as Hillary and not a boy you know).

Please don't try to put words in my mouth. You are also trying to put the words of Wright in Obama's mouth. I think it is not appropriate for you to be confusing the issue for others in that manner.

In terms of disavowing Wright - I think Obama did not want to be nasty at first and he was truthful in what he said when he called him the embarrassing Uncle - I know exactly what he means because I have one too - just not one that is public like this.

Unfortunately, Wright did not know how to leave it be and instead decided to push things to the point where Obama could not leave Wright with a respectable way out. Again, that is Wright's issue not Obama's.

And the JFK comparison stays. Wright's comments about JFK have nothing to do with the comparison I am making to Obama. Please don't confuse the point I am making with something of your own indirect concoction.

And suggesting some how Obama should wait his turn? You are joking right? I guess JFK should have waited his turn? One of the greatest criticisms leveled at him was his youth and inexperience. Sure, and let Nixon win already then? I supppose he could then have cleaned up Nixon's mess earlier.

I thought America was a democracy and meritocracy, not a dynastic succession or based on seniority.

And Paul... regarding your lengthly post above. I can see how much you believe in your guy however I believe he does have extensive baggage (Wright, Ayers, Rezko, just to name a few) therefore his "character and moral compass" are in question. This is not NEW politics. It's business as usual. BO stayed in his church for 20 years because it helped his political ambitions in the community. After "words" got in the way, his "uncle" Wright was no longer and asset and he terminated the relationship.

I would give up quoting JFK as well after BO's longtime mentor Reverend Wright made fun of JFK in his weekend extravaganza by mocking his New England accent, "ASK-EEESK not what your country can do for you, ASK-EEESK what you can do for your country." See if you can find a copy of the video, it is very disturbing.

regarding "...squander the opportunity"? Do you really think if America chooses to take a pass on Barack this time around that he is going to take his toys and go home? For gosh sakes. Let the guy grow up a little. He's got 2 decades easily in
front of him. Give him some time. Just maybe he is not the person for the job at this point in history. His turn will come.

Paul, it was not a comment on his intelegence, although I can see how it sounded that way. He is just not very articulate when he doesn't have a prepared speech... neither is George Bush - and he's white. I notice these things no matter the color of the individual.

Please do not assume my comments have anything to do with BO and his skin. And I will give you the courtesy in return of not assuming that you are using the race card intentionally to intimidate.

Superdelegates and voters:

Obama will not will against McCain. It is time for us to put our ego's aside and do what is right for the country. If you want to see a democrat in the white house, Hillary is the only one that will get there. The Obama's are too controversial, to inexperienced (as obama said hisself in his opening speech DNC 2004), and is connected to the wrong groups. The video released on utube friday was investigated and determined completely false by MSNBC. It had been doctored and released to smear Hillary. This is another example of the company Obama keeps!
This is not over. Voters and Superdelegates just need to throw every vote to Hillary and it will be over!! Do It!

Someone commented earlier that the "blue collar voters" have donated more money to Obama than Hillary,if that is the case then why has she won this group of voters by a 70 to 30 margin over him in 26 out of 29 states that held primaries!?!? The only 3 states where Obama won the blue collar voters are Wisconsin,Utah and Vermont, and Hillary didn't even compete in Utah or Vermont.I am a "blue collar voter"who sometimes can't afford to donate with the high prices of gas and groceries, but I still donate to Hillary everytime I can spare any extra money, even if it's just 10.00 at a time.Hillary is a fighter, and she will get things done in the white house.Puerto Rico, your vote does matter.Just like my vote matters in Kentucky,a state that normally is overlooked in these presidential primaries.
The Obama supporters are so negative, they want us all to give up on Hillary and not have a chanve to vote. They are praying that he will win in Indiana and N.Carolina and that Hillary will drop out,so we don't have a chance to be heard. But they don't know or see Hillary as we do.We know she is not a quitter and that she is greatful for every vote she gets, and every donation,no matter how small, and she will stand in line for hours showing us her appreciation by signing autographs and taking pictures with her supporters.I know she will not drop out because I believe she will win in Indiana, all of the polls have her leading in Indiana now.She will probably lose N.Carolina, which is expected but it will not be a 20 point loss. She has done an excellent job of closing the gap.I know that she is the stronger candidate. We sure don't see Obama sitting down and taking tough questions from Bill O'Reilly!Obama won't even debate Hillary, much less go and debate Bill O'Reilly, which I must admit I was surprised that she held her own against him.She answered every question, and even though he didn't agree with most of her positions,he still admitted that he was impressed that she held her own against him.She is the candidate who can win debates against John McCain and win in the general election. If the super delegates think that the youth vote, african american vote, and far left liberal elitist voters can win the election for Obama, then I think we have another John Kerry on our hands.Because without the blue collar,non-college graduates, senior citizens, and reagan democrats"modertates" there is no way he can beat McCain. We all know that McCain will more than likely win Florida(a swing state)because he has the Governor backing him,and the voters of michigan may be so upset that their votes didn't count in the primary, that they vote for McCain or stay home in november.I am glad that "Time" printed this article, highlighting Hillary's strength. As for the comment by "lizard3" wh said the article was biased I guess he spends most of his time watching the "Hillary bashing"on MSNBC.I suppose he doesn't think Chris Matthews is biased for Obama.Hang in there Hillary!!!You have proven what a strong candidate you are because the MSM has written you off time and again, but you always come back stronger!!! I will be voting for you on May 20th,and I hope this goes all the way to the convention.American's need a president who will fight for them and help with this horrible economy,Hillary is that president. P.S Hillary wasn't the only one who voted for the war, what about John Kerry,Edwards,Chris Dodd,Joe Bieden etc.Pretty much everyone who started out in this democratic race other than Obama who wasn't a U.S senator when the vote came up. KENTUCKY LOVES HILLARY!!!!!!

Wow, see the nice pantsuit Hillary is wearing. With that light blue pin stripe pantsuit, and a dash of sparkiling green/blue eye shadow on her upper eye lid and a dark red lipstick she looks a tint of Tammy Fay Baker, the evangelists wife. But Bill Clinton with his pastel and bright orange or yellow colored ties usually looks like a used car salesman. I warn you to keep both your hands over your kids closed eyes, before you ask both Hillary and Bill to stand side by side, since it is going to be awfully scary for the kids to watch. James Carville is not doing his job in selecting the right outfit for this couple.

Call it what you want. I am just telling you what the Republicans will do. They are not nice people. Isn't that what Hillary is saying, she is doing what the Republicans will do to Obama? Well I think I can speak to what they will do to her. That is not really the point and you know, your suggestion that somehow Obama is dumb and can't put two words together is much more nasty. It can also be read as a racial kind of statement and there is also a hint of a Rovian mentality there - he is known as a gifte speaker and the Roviann approach is to attack your opponent's acknowledged strength - do you know what Swift Boat means and comes from or not? My final comments.

To the Humming Bird. I disagree and the reason Obama says umh sometimes when he is talking is because his brain is in gear and he is thinking. He is looking for the right words to express what is in his heart and on his mind. He is not speaking from some memorized nasty talking points such as Clinton does with her nasty lying eyes casting about the room nervously so no one can tell what she really is thinking and what she is trying to do.....

I think I could take this a step further for the Republicans .....

If Hillary is the candidate, it is open Clinton season during the short weeks of the Presidential campaign. The time will be filled with this kind of thing - there will be a blast from the past and also the Bosnia lie. Every time she said the words Bosnia sniper fire in a clip - with the final clip being the one that is available from the actual arrival, then a reading of what she said in her book, and finally, her stupid reply to George S. in the last "deba(cle)te. And of course, the 6o second clip will have her nose growing throughout until it obliterates her face. That will be "Clinton in her element". And, like Pinochio, she will start to grow ears and a tail and she will turn into the Republican Donkey.

My post gone? Here it is again.

BOTH the Clinton's and the Obama's are consumate politicians. I will not list here the lies that have been perpetuated by the BO himself, his campaign, or his supporters as for example the DOCTORED "War Room" video. Unconscionable.

Senator Hillary Clinton is resilient, courageous, brilliant, and compassionate. She also knows what town she is in while she is campaigning and that the Great Lakes are not in Oregon. She listens fully and is present with people. She also knows how to talk. None of this "Ummm Ummm what I mean is Ummm Ummm"

Even my 15 year old daughter noticed while listening to BO on NPR the other day. I was driving her to school and from the back seat she piped up, "Mom, Obama doesn't seem to know what he is talking about. He keeps stopping like he isn't sure himself what he said." The next President of the most powerful nation in the world?

This article is spot-on that Hillary won't quit. That's because the millions of us who voted for her want her to continue. We love her, respect her and know she will do good work for us and our country.

So grow up, get a life, and let our democracy continue. It's not over until everyone has their say by casting their vote. That's how this works. May the best candidate win.

Senator Hillary Clinton, 44th President of the United States of America and about time.

Go Hill Go!

"Obama will bring Democrats to defeat against McCain come November. Why is this so hard for the Obamacans to see? He is too divisive and too extreme. He has no experience. His character and judgment is dangerously flawed. There has been a drip drip drip of questionable associations. He is toast.

Clinton may not be perfect, but she is tenacious and she knows what she is doing. She has the experience and is already doing better in the polls in important states such as Fl, OH and PA against the Republicans.

Posted by: JFB | May 3, 2008 4:22 PM "

------------------------------------------------------------

Really? Imagine what the election would look like if Hillary was running against McCain. I have said many times, Hillary keeps saying that she is proud that all of her baggage has been picked through and she is fully "vetted". That is a naive statement.

She will get swift boated by the baggage she has or if not the baggage she has that we know about, then baggage still in the closet. Or, manufactured baggage constructed by the Republicans such as Hillary has constructed in the Wright fiasco and the flag pin question etc.

I am starting to see why it is important for Hillary to stay on the attack - lest someone start to look at her baggage. Need to keep the discussion on the other guy's bad not your own. Even if you have to fake the other guy's.

You need to remember she is someone who will lie in public no less and continuously such as she clearly did about Bosnia. Imagine what she is like when she thinks people are not looking or not in the room. As an aside here, I think there is no excuse for her lame answer to the lame question posed by George S. - "I remembered it differently during the campaign than I wrote in my book - its embarrassing but I did get it right in my book - have a look at that."

As if she could still not remember what happened! And in a way she really did not confirm she lied or what the real truth was. What would your mother say to you if you said that? Hillary seems to think you and I are so dumb (and she so smart) that we won't catch on to her. Someone who thinks like that obviously has more baggage that she is not telling us about. And she thinks she can keep hiding it.... No way, the Republicans are making the ads already.

And, in the pre-internet and tabloid press era, in which many stupid foibles of the Clintons surely occurred, things were not looked at and grasped by the media the way they are today. Imagine the impact of a photo or video clip or sound bite with Bill and one of his liaisons. Replaying Monika or better getting her to make statements during the election. Believe me it can happen. The press will feed on this the entire election season with no time to actually deal with the issues. And the press will marvel at how its surfacing is deserved because it was how she beat Obama with the help of people like you doing poorly considered posts to support her.

Voting for Clinton, because she says she is "vetted" is risky - a bit like unprotected sex. The baggage she has can go viral - you don't want that. What is more, there are two people that can be attacked - Bill and Hillary who have boat loads of baggage. You can distance yourself from your pastor, but Hillary knows what Bill is and most importantly, everyone knows she had the chance to make the tough decision and make the break when Bill took advantage of Monika. Yet Hillary did not - why not? And you may have a thousand good answers, but there is little time available in the general election and the press would be having a field day with this for months. You know, it is not possible for her to distance herself from her spouse.

The Republicans will put out even the stuff that everyone knows about again as a "refreshing" reminder of what the Clintons are about. There is no law that says aired baggage can't be rehashed and re-aired. Many voters will be intrigued because as much of this goes back to earlier generations as is new (there is so much there) and many voters under 30 may not be aware or have seen some of this stuff. Where will it leave them? Voting for McCain or abstaining.

In contrast, it has been months in the Democratic campaign and there is precious little Hillary and McCain could dredge up on the Obamas. What is there, has largely been manufactured out of thin air and it is about what others said that is trying to be made out to be what the Obamas are about.. And I think since the election runs right after this nominee race, what has been manufactured will seem old to the electorate in the general.

Obama, with his powerful movement for change and with virtually no baggage from the past, is the winning choice. I think that he is ahead in the nominee race (and he is no matter how you look at it) and he will win the nomination because of this.

I think it is clear that he will go on to win the Presidency because of his stronger character, moral compass, focus on the challenging issues of America and particularly his audacity to tackle the status quo. He really does lead a movement that favors a rebirth of truth, justice and the real American dream for all.

You might, as others do, try to say that is just words and pie in the sky - well I can tell you, so was JFK's putting a man on the moon and equal rights amendment. So was JFK's ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country. That, is the real power of America, not bombing countries out of existence.

I believe Obama is not a typical politician - he is potentially much more and he was born to lead America at this time. The important question is - will America take up this generous and much needed opportunity?

Okay, so you are more skeptical. I would say okay, maybe Obama is just another politician, but then again it is undeniable that he might be something much more and he is leading a grass roots movement for change. Why squander the opportunity?

And, frankly, the politics of the past and being just another politician is not good enough for America today and going forward. Let's not get "too wise and old" about this - America can't afford to miss the possibility (I think the reality) of Obama being a new breed of politician and leader truly uniting and leading the United States of America.

America will get what it deserves out of this election - if its garbage in then its garbage out. America needs more than that, and to achieve it she needs to truly see the reality of the situation and vote differently for a different politician and different politics. If she does not, she will get more of the same.

I believe America will have the courage to vote for a new politics, a new discourse and a new future based on truth, justice and the real American dream.

ALL of you who vote for Obama are throwing your vote to McCain because Obama cannot beat McCain. We've all seen that polls are unreliable and the Obama/McCain one is way off. The republicans have tapes of Obama in Wright's church during some of those terrible sermons and plan to use them in the fall. They also have more info about Rezko and Ayers just waiting on the chance to use them next fall.
I'm a democrat but will not vote Obama because I would not take my child to hear Wright's sermons AND KEEP THEM IN THAT CHURCH and most of you wouldn't either! If his fatherhood iS of the likes, how will he be a leader for the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

First of all Barack continues to drain his pipes of voters during the last 30-35 days and as proof he lost Ohio, Texas and Pennsylvania. All huge states.

In short he is bleeding right now and his 25 Points lead in North Carolina even though the state's registered democratic voters is 42% black, he now lead in single digit.

Before PA he was also ahead in Indiana by 5%-12% and now it looks like he'll lose the state.

When a candidate wins the popular vote in a given state but still lose delegates, that's clearly a screwed system that the DNC Chairman Dean has to correct. When black districts get more delegates for the same number of voters compared to white districts but given more delegate allocation that is not democracy.

Bottom line the next President of the United States whether a Republican or Democrat should win two of the battleground states of Florida, Ohia and Pennsylvania.

Hillary can win them all but Barrack cannot...

Conclusion: Barack is a VERY RISKY BET...

SWING STATES: New Quinnipiac polls out today show Clinton dramatically outperforms Obama in the critical swing states of Ohio and Florida.

In Ohio, Clinton beats McCain by ten points (48-38), while Obama loses to him by one point (43-44).

In Florida, Clinton beats McCain by 8 (49-41), while Obama loses to him by one point (42-43).

Hillary also tops McCain by 14 points in Pennsylvania (51-37), while Obama's lead over McCain is in single digits.

Wow, what the heck happened to my post? Here it is again:

I like Obama most, McCain second, Hillary third.

Barrack Obama will win. He'll be the first black president of the Untied States because:

1) The Iraq war was wrong, costly, and now unpopular. I think it is obvious that our next President will mostly likely be Barrack Obama. He will be the first black President of the Untied States for the following 5 reasons:

1) The Iraq war was wrong, costly, and now unpopular. Voters will throw the hawks out.

2) The economy and consumer confidence are hurting. Voters will throw the bumbs out.

3) We have enough post-60's voters now where many more voters can see right through race-baiting commercials. By the time of the nomination they will see through the attacks against Obama calling him a Muslim AND a Christian extremist.

4) Huckabee... I mean, Hillary did not pick up the delegates she needed in Texas or Ohio or Pennsylvania (states that favored her) and even lost delegates in Texas. She lost a long time ago when her advisers led her to disaster on 10 contests in a row following Super Tuesday.

5) Obama continues to inspire new ovters and those of us who are tired of 16 years of Bushes and Clintons. Let's give a candidate who has earned their way up a chance for a change.

Let's get real here. The Obama campaign started their use of reverse racism as soon as Hillary was declared the winner in NH. Obama surrogates went on cable shows to explain Obama's loss as a result of the Bradley Effect, where whites tell pollsters they will vote for the black candidate and then vote for the white candidate in the privacy of the voting booth. This was outrageous, labeling Hillary supporters racist, yet no one in the press called them on that. Within days everything either Clinton said suddenly became racist, no matter how much of a stretch. The Obama campaign is the most divisive I have seen in my lifetime. I will vote for McCain before I would ever vote for such an inexperienced, divisive candidate.

The race horse Barbaro captured the hearts of the country, with his big strong heart, and his fleet foot, he was able to come from behind to beat horses much bigger than he.

Hillary Clinton is strong and determined woman, in some ways she could be compared to Barbaro, but she will not stumble in this race. She has come from behind and has the strength of heart, and the tenacity to win this race. It will be her opponent that will stumble and fall this time.

Hillary is the only democratic candidate that is capable of beating Obama. A vote for Obama means 4 more years of Bush's policies, and the Iraq war. Don't be fooled by Obama's idealistic slogans of "hope" and "change", for elitist Obama, they are just empty words.

Obama Supporters,

Could we please let the "he has the most delegates" argument die? That's not going to matter if he loses the remaining contests. The DNC wants to win. They are not going to make Obama the nominee just because he garnered more delegates before the American people knew about Reverend Wright.

If the upcoming contests prove that he has lost the overwhelming support of the voters, he will be asked to bow out gracefully. You are dreaming if you think the DNC will hand him the nomination knowing he's a sure loser! Let's just get real here, thios isn't about him, it's about beating McCain, it's about ending the war and it's about the Supreme Court. It's much bigger than Obama.

Obama wants to focus on anything but his own character and judgment. He cannot erase a 20-year relationship with a racist and anti-American pastor who he considered to be his "mentor and spiritual adviser," by merely making a public denunciation required by his falling poll numbers. This transparent gesture won't fool anyone but his most ardent supporters. The press has really let us down regarding Obama by not vetting him sooner. Perhaps they will make up for it by investigating the nature of Obama's religion; black liberation theology. Why? Because anyone who would subscribe to such a racist theology for 20 years, is not fit to be President of the United States. Rev. Wright cites James Cone as his theological mentor regarding the theology Obama has been soaking up for the last 20 years. Here, in his own words, is James Cone's description of Obama's so-called religion:
"Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community. Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love."

It amazes me that there are those who say Hillary is damaging the Democratic Party. Did Reagan damage the Republican party when he took the primary into the convention over Gerald Ford? Did Ted Kennedy damage the party when he took the primary into the convention against Jimmy Carter? Or what about Brown of Calif. taking the primary to the convention when running against Bill Clinton. The problem is that back then journalists, pundits, delegates, etc., allowed the process to go forward without calling for candidates to drop out or giving one candidate such biased coverage that it made their staying in the race practically impossible. Also, to those of you who consistently post that Obama has already won, that is just not true as he DOES NOT have enough delegates to win.....not unless Hillary Clinton gives her delegates to him and/or until he collects 2,050 of his very own. Until then, please remember that neither candidate can claim victory. Super delegates can also change their minds. If the primaries were tallied like the general election, Hillary Clinton would have had this sewn up on Super Tuesday....yes, the big blue states DO count in the general election. I am in Ohio and Clinton beats McCain by 9 points here and Obama loses by 1....go figure that up on your delegate calculator.

Posted by: RH | May 3, 2008 9:28 AM | Report abuse

Those who oppose Hillary want this thing over with quick. Our family has a personal policy that goes like this " Anyone who tells us that something has to happen right now, save a real threat to personal safety, should be put off, because it usually means that they know they only have one shot to make a sale and if one has time to think about it, it is unlikely it's going to happen." Obama really does only have one shot and a real critical look at the whole picture is really not in his favor. It is in his own interest and those that are emotionally involved in "the movement" to get this over with before the American people can get real handle on the stakes. Although movements are quite valid and important to move political leaders transforming their ideas and policies, movements are not best served by the politics of government and neither is political office compatible with movements. Once the winner steps into that office, that all goes away and the President must serve the whole country. Middle America gets this and expects this. That's why Hillary is steadily gaining in a Campaign that realistically began on Super Tuesday. A campaign that also is now more closely relevant to the one that will start sooner than anyone had imagined.

Who do you think the GOP want as the nominee of the Dem Party? Hillary Clinton. Isn't that why they are doing her job at the moment, swift-boating Obama over Wright? Of course. Why? This is a big question. Even Fox News can figure out that it is probably because they think she is an easier target that Obama is in the presidential campaign. Certainly, nobody will be that stupid enough to suggest it is because they like Hillary for some strange and sadistic reasons. Yuk! Even Republicans have a better taste than that.

It is just ironic that a lot of the supers cannot see this political hint.

Oh, and Linda? The whole Sinclair thing? You do know he failed a polygraph test, don't you? The media still won't let go of the Rev. Wright bone; do you think they wouldn't jump on this in a heartbeat if the story was credible?

Michelle (learn to spell, dunce) certainly does look angry. Such thick lips! And so black, so terribly black! She looks ready to kill white people and eat the flesh off their bones. Why isn't she white? She's be a lot nicer and less angry if she were white. Oh why, why, why isn't everyone white?!? It's just so hard having people on this planet who are different! Oh well, at least everyone in heaven is white. So's God. And the Easter Bunny (wuvwy, fwuffy wittow Easter Bunny xoxoxo not bad and black and angry like Michelle nonono gollum).

I haven't heard Michelle raise her voice once. The only screaming is coming from the stereotypes in your angry head. Get ready to be a lot angrier when Hillary loses.

What about Hillary's $108 million fortune with some dubious charity donations and book keeping? I don't think the Republicans will give her a pass on those.

They will shredd her.

Posted by: Anonymous | May 3, 2008 3:54 AM | Report abuse

What is she planning to do exactly? So she wins NC and Indiana by, lets say, 60% each. Would that change the math? No. Even after the much trumpeted win in PA, her net gain of delegates is just 12.

Her win in PA resulted in narrowing Obama's delegate lead by just 12. So, we know that her wins in all remaining primaries are not going to change anything substantial. At the end of it all, Obama will still stand with the lead.

So, if she is any smart, she would know that there is simply no way she can overtake that lead(unless she wins by 25% margin in each and every one of those remaining primaries. That brings us to the possibility that she may argue to the supers that she will be less likely to be swiftboated because she hasn't got Wright problem.

Well, we are not sure about that. She may not have a Wright problem but she sure has, Paul, Lewinsky, Mark Penn and Blackwater, Whitewater, Little Rose, the suicide of Vincent Foster in mysterious and never fully explained circumstances, a possible violations of election law, etc etc.

I trust that the GOP machine will do their usual job of finding dirt well on Hillary.

Ironically, the Wright controvery that is being waged at the moment will help him in November. People would have seen it all and heard it all by then. It is nothing new. It won't be shocking anymore and will just become tiring.

LindaGR -

An insult from someone as ignorant as you is actually a compliment. With that I bid you good night.

Hillary Rodham Clinton will be the next president of the United States so get used to it! Give 'em hell, Hillary.

Treetopflyer are you as ugly as Mitchell?? Do you hate America like she does? Do you hate white people like Obama and Mitchell does? Did anyone tell you when you were a child to "get off the tree you monkey!!" Well here is to you Obama Jr (my middle finger that is)!!

Posted by: LindaGR | May 3, 2008 2:44 AM | Report abuse

The only reason Andrew endorsed Obama is because he has a crush on him. He heard about Larry Sinclair and is hoping Obama will play the flute with him. Well, Mr Andrew you may just get your wish!!

LindaGr - Because, you short-sighted, instant gratification-addicted, gimme now and you'll pay later idiot, the 30 pieces of silver dollar you so cheaply sell yourself for will cost:

300,000 highway construction jobs this summer
More dangerous (unmaintained) highways and bridges
Your car repair and/or hospital bill which will make it the most expensive 30 bucks you've ever gotten

It's easy to see why Hillary supporters call Obama elitist. For them, anyone who THINKS is an elitist. Whatever happened to sending Crawford's village idiot back home? Tired of having a beer with him? (You all got to have your beers with him, right? Just like Hillary's going to invite you to the White House to down shots and bowl, right? You think she isn't going to - hasn't already - eat off fine china and waltz with dignitaries? Once she has your votes, you are DOG DIRT to her, and you know it!)

Try to remember this. We are selecting someone to run the country. This person will be the best protected, most powerful person in the world and if you want to talk with him/her, you can make an appointment for 12:03 PM to 12:05 PM, Feb. 17, 2013 just like everyone else. You do NOT want someone dumb as you, you WANT someone smarter than you. FDR was an elitist, born into a wealthy family, crippled with polio, and he saw the country through the Great Depression, gave us Social Security and kicked the Nazis' a$$es! We should be so lucky to have such elitist presidents these days.

Larry Sinclair has already filed a lawsuit against Obama. Obama has not denied that he had sexual relations with this man and smoked crack with him.

Mitchell Obama seems very angry lately. To be fair she always appears angry and upset. Therefore we cannot blame it on the loses they have in the last five contest. Does this mean that she is going back to hating America?? If she hates America so much why does she not leave to Africa?? A survey shows Mitchell is not preferred choice as First Lady. If Obama would have been elected for President (being sarcastic because it will never happen) he would have to lock her out of the White House.

Seriously speaking, she is one freaking UGLY woman!!

It does not make sense why Obama would be against fighting to help some of us from the rising of high gas prices, this summer. He says we will just be saving about $30. Mr Obama, please explain this to the truck drivers that put in thousands of miles a week on their trucks. And people that have to travel 65 to 100 miles one way just to get to their jobs. My husband does not travel nearly as much but does put in 1500 miles a month. Even if it is $30 it is better than nothing! Obama is so out of touch with the average working class because he has never been one. He had wealthy grandparents who loved him so much they send him to private schools, boarding school, Harvard. They took care of all his needs hence he never had to worry on how to pay for gas at the pump and any of his bills while attending school.

What I do not understand is why Pelosi & Reed would be against this idea. Is is because a Republican (McCain) thought about it first and Hillary agrees with it? Is it because the Democrats hate Hillary so much that her politics are getting in the way? Or is it just because Obama did not think about it first? Excuse me Ms Pelosi and Mr Reed have you not been watching the news? He never thinks of anything first. He copies everything Hillary says or does. Hillary was the first one to come up with a plan on Healthcare, green collar jobs, getting us out of Iraq, revisiting NAFTA, saving Social Security and etc.. He has just followed suit.

I've been reading about how the Operation Chaos people are fretting now that their devious plot is working to make her appear stronger. What's also become obvious is that she's every bit as nefarious and brutal as Rush's own minions.

I am beginning to relish the idea that, should the neoCons help Hillary steal the nomination, she and Bill would have no trouble at all grinding McCrazy into pulp and devouring him for breakfast. Then they'd get what they've been voting for---PRESIDENT HILLARY CLINTON IN THE WHITE HOUSE. Eat that, Dittoheads!!! Oh, and thanks for supporting the Democrats!

OBAMAS BAGGAGE

He and Wright have divided black democrats.

His waffling around with the Wright issue has labeled him as a hypocrite to many.

His refusing to debate has shown he can't stand up to a challenge.

He has offended Florida and Michigan voters by not wanting their votes to count, and he would lose these two states in the general election.

He has lost the big states, indicating McCain would beat him there.

Many are concerned about his muslim relations or "secret" intent.

Racial ranting has brought out the "race card" in some whites, who would not have considered it at all otherwise.

His San Francisco remarks show very clearly he is a phony.

Last but not least, his close 20 year association with the bigot Wright probably shows more about his true character than anything.

His rise to fame is over, and he is on a slide downhill. Had his true character been known at the outset, Clinton would have had a level playing field and Obama would have been history months ago. Too bad.

I think you're right about Senator Clinton. She is in her element. What's very apparent is the more the Obama camp tries to dish dirt the better she looks. She's an intelligent, articulate, person. The more dirt that comes out about Obama the worse he seems on the campaign trail. He's afraid to go one on one with her in a Lincoln-Douglas debate and it shows from the first excuse he gave about not being a good way to reach people. They sure twisted that excuse in a hurry. This man has had a very short political life compared to Senator Clinton and already he's handed the Republican plenty of dirt with his lies (all on tape)and bad judgment. All the rich special interest groups buying up prime time slots will render him a lier and a politician who doesn't even know his own party. The record is now overwhelmingly convincing that he can not beat McCain and Senator Clinton can. Younger people vote emotionally older people vote smart.

AC:
"Hillary is at her best when she's divided everyone,"

No, she's at her best on a level playing field. Obama's questionable character was not known until March 13. Had his dealings with shady characters and the hate-filled racist Wright been known at the outset, the voting results would be different today. No question about it. Obama should apologize.

The birth of the modern environmental movement started in 1970. Congress passed lots of legislation for safe water and air. Then we had The Three Mile Island accident. Soon we had so many environmental laws passed it got to be impossible to build a new oil refinery or nuclear energy plant. We had really cheap gas prices back then and most cars only got around 15 mpg.

In the early 90s, Saddham invaded Kuwait. If he had kept going, he could have taken the whole Saudi peninsula. The question is: why did we fight Iraq?
The answer is oil. Everyone should know this by now.

We are forced to import lots of oil from the Middle East. Congress won't let anyone build a new nuke plant or a new refinery to turn oil into gasoline. It is Congress that regulates oil and gas and how much it is taxed.

Now the Democrats want to starve the world by turning corn (food) into ethanol (fuel). Why? They will tell you they are doing it for the environment. This is the biggest lie you have ever been told by a politician. Only McCain is against ethanol factories.

Whatever you do - don't encourage any Democrat to raise taxes. They will only be too happy to oblige. Then the oil companies will just jack up the price another dollar a gallon. Guess who gets screwed?
