Dan Balz's Take
Decision Time for Clinton

Hillary Clinton arrived back in Washington early Wednesday morning after a tumultuous and deeply disappointing Tuesday night with no good options, just hard decisions.
The irony is that she produced the split decision in Indiana and North Carolina that everyone said would be enough to keep her candidacy alive. The cruelty is that the "experts" were wrong. By the time she was declared the winner in Indiana, it was clear she had lost virtually all room to maneuver.
I sent a message to one of her most loyal supporters early Wednesday morning asking what are her realistic options? "She has only one option," he replied. "Gracefully exit and help unify the party to beat [John] McCain." How quickly, he was asked. "I would advise them to figure out how to do it as soon as this weekend," he replied.
Another veteran Democrat who has backed Clinton was equally pessimistic in his private assessment. "It's hard to see a path toward the twin goals of Hillary winning and the party uniting," he wrote. "Her strategy cannot be to destroy the village in order to save it. The superdelegate dam is about to break. Hillary losing [George] McGovern is like LBJ losing [former CBS News anchor Walter] Cronkite."
Dealing in analogies of unwinnable wars is where the Clinton camp found itself Wednesday morning. What was mostly implausible on Monday appeared even more implausible Wednesday.
The decision by McGovern, the party's 1972 nominee, to defect to Obama represented a major psychological blow to Clinton's candidacy. On the October day when he endorsed Clinton, McGovern told me he regarded Obama as "another Lincoln." He had decided to support Clinton because he believed Obama was young enough to have a long future -- and, in his estimation, because he believed Clinton could be a better president than was her husband.
At the time, his decision was a blow to the Obama camp, where officials had hoped his obvious admiration for the Illinois senator would translate into a high-profile endorsement. Now McGovern sees Clinton's continued candidacy as a threat to party unity and to the Democrats' chances of winning in November. Clinton's desire to keep going will run smack into that sentiment in many corners of the party.
Two other Democrats described Clinton's options is dire terms. "Withdraw with honor and grace, or lose without either, forever cementing her -- their -- image as selfish, indifferent to party or cause," wrote one of them. The other put it this way: "Wait for him to blow up, which is unlikely given his track record. Or, blow up the party, which party leaders are unlikely to let her do."
Two Democrats made a similar point, which is that that race did not change fundamentally as a result of what happened in Indiana and North Carolina, and yet Clinton emerged in far worse shape than she was the day before the voting.
"The race is, as it has been for some time, in the hands of the superdelegates," wrote Mark Mellman, a Democratic pollster. "They seem inclined to support the candidate who wins the most pledged delegates, which will be Obama. To shake that psychology she has to demonstrate that Obama is unelectable. She failed to do that last night, and doesn't have many other opportunities. So at this point she seems largely dependent on a direct, clarion call from Heaven -- which could take the form of a ghastly, but highly unlikely, mistake by Obama."
The other strategist, Jonathan Prince, who was a top adviser to John Edwards's campaign, agreed that the fundamentals Wednesday were as they had been Tuesday: Obama was and is ahead in the delegate count; both still need superdelegates to win the nomination. To gain the nomination she needed and still needs to convince superdelegates that he is a risky choice. To do that, she would try to point to continued victories and Obama's continued weaknesses among white, working-class voters
"Now, that imagined scenario is off the table," he wrote. "Which leaves only this one -- stay in the game, stay focused and hope that he raises doubts again so she can convince superdelegates he's too risky. Basically, she needs an extra-electoral event to push super-
delegates her way (extra as in extra-terrestrial)."
The options are limited for Clinton because she is at a huge financial disadvantage. The campaign announced that she has loaned her campaign another $6.4 million, on top of the $5 million she provided in January. But she will be no match for Obama. As one strategist put it months ago, the one reason candidates quit campaigns is that they run out of money. Clinton could face that in the weeks ahead.
Her route to the nomination also depends on a favorable resolution to the question of seating the Florida and Michigan delegations -- and counting their votes in the tally of popular votes. The Democratic Committee's Rules and Bylaws Committee does not meet until May 31 to try to deal with that problem. Given Clinton's precarious situation, it is more difficult to envision an outcome that is as favorable as Clinton needs.
The last six states will award just 217 pledged delegates and there is no realistic prospect for Clinton to overtake Obama in that count. That leaves it up to superdelegates. Clinton will meet with a group of them on Wednesday and Obama will meet with a group on Thursday.
Pat Edington, a former DNC member from Alabama who was in town for Clinton's Wednesday fundraiser, said the New York senator should stay in the race through the end of the primaries, in part to give the remaining states a chance to participate. Calls from Clinton supporters back home were almost unanimous in that view, she said.
Edington is an old friend of Clinton's and has raised more than $300,000 for the campaign. She believes that, whether in the White House or in the Senate, Clinton will go down as "one of the greatest fighters" the party has ever seen.
But even in encouraging Clinton to stay in, she does not discount how dire her situation is now -- or the care that must be exercised in the days ahead. "She has to be very positive from this point on." Edington said.
Edington, like other Democratic insiders, does not want to see the party ruptured by this battle, and she made clear she would be ready to rally behind Obama at an appropriate time. "I am for Hillary," she said. "But if Obama is the nominee, you will think I gave birth to him."
No one will try to force Clinton out of the race. Campaigning in West Virginia early Wednesday afternoon, she said she would stay in "until there is a nominee." But what she needed on Tuesday did not happen, and she must now rewrite her script for the final stage of the nomination campaign.

To JakeD:
I was away and therefore I wasn't able to respond to you in quick time. Anyway, it's never too late.
Your Superbowl analogy is way off the mark. The two things aren't of the same equation. Why are you so stubborn not to accept the reality?
Look at the superdelegates. One by one they are abandoning your favorite and joining the Obama bandwagon. You think they are wrong as well? Look man, the math doesn't add up which ever way you look at it. Why don't you understand that simple truth.
Hillary can play the game till the final whistle is blown. But do you think that will somehow change the inevitable outcome? Why do guys like you regard Obama as an enemy or an outcast? After all, he is a Democrat as well. Hillary and Obama had a fair fight. But the party faithfuls have made the choice. Why is it so difficult for you guys to accept the truth and move on?

What makes Hillary Clinton think that Barack Obama can't get to White voters? It seems the media is so busy portraying him as an African American, they neglect to tell people that his mother was a White working class woman from Kansas and that his White grandparents, raised him. As to Rev. Wright, Bill Clinton invited him to the White House to pray with him after the Monica scandal. There is a picture showing Bill shaking hands with Wright. Why not show that to the American people? Hillary has lied on so many occasions that I have lost track and still some people can't see her for the self-serving person she is. Who wants Bill Clinton in the White House again so we can have another scandal.

Two other Democrats described Clinton's options is dire terms. "Withdraw with honor and grace, or lose without either, forever cementing her -- their -- image as selfish, indifferent to party or cause," This is a terrific analogy and this is where the clintons are truly at in this race. Staying in their constant 'state of denial' and leveling more political terrorist blows will ultimately provide them with "LOSS OF 'ALL' RESPECT BY THE MAJORITY DEMOCRATIC PUBLIC AND LOSS OF ANY 'POLITICAL FUTURE' FOR THEM BOTH"! They would have been so much better off trying to unite this Party than to be seen as SELFISH, DIVISIVE, AND EXTREMELY ARROGANT!

Hillary Clinton continue to fight is her ego problem. She is a self-important, deceiver, liar, and an extrame selfish person. She never think about voters, Democratic Party. Her issues and arguments are all "PERSONAL" (Her NH tears in front of reporters in the coffee shop. She won NH.), the tools to reach and preside in The White House. She wants to be THE QEEN OF WHOLE WORLD. She wants to write another chapter of her own "LIVING HISTORY". Continuing stay as long as she can, she may write more and makes more money. (To pay off debits.) even she knows now she will be the loser.
Remember congress impeachment of Bill Clinton's womanizing in The White House? Publishers asked each one to write a book. They not only paid off legal debts but also made tens of millions of dollars. I have not heard they share a pency to the girl who made them celebrities.

A SOLUTION FOR AMERICA II
If my first plan doesn't work for the American people, this will be my second proposal.
America will then need least 6 or up to 50 Presidents. Fifty States, fifty divided nations. We will start off with a president for all Native-Americans,(AKA "OWNERS AND FOUNDING FATHERS OF USA")European-Americans (AKA "White People"), African-Americans (AKA "Black People"), Hispanic-Americans, (AKA "Illegal Immigrants"), Asian-Americans (AKA "SMART PEOPLE"), and Arabian-Americans (AKA "Terrorists"). Or everybody can just pack up there S..., families and belongings and return to where we all came form. What do you think? YAKSHEMACH!

Obama, Clinton, and McCain.
My vote is on sale for $33,000,000.00 Dollar. You can't blame me for not proposing my offer. I was inspired by the proposal made by one of the DNC "Superdelegate" early today.
My Deadline is November of 2008
Great Success

I WILL START OFF WITH A "STIMULUS PACKAGE" OF $1,000,000.00 MILLION DOLLAR FOR EACH PERSON. THIS IS MY PERSON BELIEF, IF WE CAN SPEND BILLION OF DOLLARS IN IRAQ AND OTHER PARTS OF THE WORLD (FOR MOST FOLLY REASONS), WE CAN BEGIN HELPING OUR AMERICAN PEOPLE EVEN MORE. Clinton's arguments for staying in the nomination race are racists ... To suggest that anyone would not vote for an east indian in Louisiana, a chinese in washington state just because of their color or race is absolutely the lowest in desperation ... I have lost respect for this family ... I purchased all of their books ... and held them in high esteem until what I have seen in the last week or so
Posted by: Gone | May 9, 2008 2:51 PM
Hillary should stay in the race. The longer she stays in, the more damage gets done to the Democrat party. Heck, if she could somehow get all of the superdelegates to throw out Hussein, it would virtually destroy the democrat party!
GOOOOOOO Hillary! Don't quit now! (Quit in October)...

Things were better in the 90s. The 1890s.
Why do you think they call it the WHITE House?
Not everyone has a role.
A hardworking white person. Just like you.

Obama didn't do much here in Chicago, if anything, he blended right in with the corruption that's been rampant for ages. Just look at his pal Tony Rezko, Obama was able to purchase his mansion thanks to the sweet deal with Rezko, (almost forgot Nadhmi Auchi he helped in that deal too) Tony Rezko, who was also a slum lanlord, among other things. Some of these slum buildings were located right in Obama's district, not very far from his own home. During one Chicago winter people living in one of these slums (in Obama's district) had to go as long as 5 weeks with no heat, this was just one of the problems the residents had to deal with. But Obama played the blind man about all this. But we're suppose to believe he can bring Change to entire Country.
Now He's a first-term U.S Senator, and a great majority of this time has been spent on campaigning and running for President. So not a great deal there either.
There's a lot more things I could have touched on, but this alone is enough for me
to ask, how can people believe that this is a person who has the qualifications and experience necessary to hold the highest office in this Country? Especially during a time when we have so many serious issues going on.

A SOLUTION FOR AMERICA
WE NEED MORE THAN ONE PRESIDENTS. Since Americans are so racist and full of hate. We need more than one presidents. A president for the Native-Americans, European-Americans (AKA "Whites"), African-Americans (AKA Blacks), Asian-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, and a president Arab-Americans (AKA-Terrorists), and Others. The "White House" can than become "The United Nations House of Human Diversity". This is what "They" meant by the "melting pot". Vote "AL-QUSO 13" for YES, I AGREE or "AL-QUSO GET-OBL" for I DISAGREE.

Posted by: Stan | May 8, 2008 2:44 PM
It's clear now that Obama's going to win the nomination. But even though I'm a loyal Democrat, I will never vote for Obama unless he provides satisfactory answers to the following questions:
1. You knew very well throughout your entire 20 years at Trinity Church that the views expressed by Wright at the National Press Club - the USA is the US "KKK", on 9/11 the chickens came home to roost, the US government is responsible for infecting blacks with the AIDS virus, it is Israel's fault that there is a struggle with the Palestinians - were the views that Wright had always advocated from the pulpit.
2. You knew very well from the time you first had any contact with William Ayers that he had admittedly bombed the Pentagon.
To most middle of the road Americans, if the answer to either of these two questions is "Yes", Obama shouldn't be President due to his assent, by his action or inaction, to those with anti-American views. If the answer is "No", Obama shouldn't be President due to his ignorance and gullibility. Does Obama have any adequate argument why these factors don't demonstrate that he should not be President? I have yet to hear them so far.

You are claiming it is IMPOSSIBLE than Obama is a secret Muslim lying about being a Christian in order to become President of the United States?

Hillary continuing in the race is not for herself, but for the sake of the Democratic Party. Because as soon as Obama gets the nomination the Republican Party will start exposing him( drugs, murder, gay sex, tied to Kenya terrorists...) Please go to Larrysinclair0926.wordpress.com. for more info.

I personally do not wish to have a Muslim (albeit "reformed") run our country during these times. Adolph appealed because he spoke to the depression disenfranchised. His hidden agenda didn't remain hidden long. Nope. Let's leave the middle east where it is and elect someone, anyone with absolutely no middle eastern ties, no matter how vague. I applaud Hillary for her bravery and pray good sense prevails and she wins the nomination. Or, God help us! We will become a Muslim world ... then suicide would become a viable option.

Hillary Clinton can now ammend her resume and add 'also ran for president of the United States'. Now the biggest question for her is how to get off the moving train without falling between the wheels. Obama's campaign is in full swing going into the general election. Whereas Hillary is trying to auction off her pantsuit collection on EBay to make money for her troubled campaign.
The last time she went to a restaurant with her entourage, she did a dine and dash trick and walked out without paying tips. Now she claims she has injected another 6 million dollars into her campaign. But still people are not being paid for the services they render to the campaign. Her whole campaign has become pathetic

I'm not sure why people think Obama is really "new politics" when his campaign has been making personal attacks against Hillary by questioning her integrity. The idealists who support Obama need to see politics for what it really is. Maybe Obama believes in achieving his goals "by any means necessary" which is why he's only a good politician, not a great one.

Why is everone referring to Barack Obama as African-American? Surely to qualify for African-American both you father and mother must be African-American? He is equal white and African-American. Just curious.

Not according to rules of ethnicity in the US, which dates back to the days of slavery. Doesn't matter that his parents were bi-racial. (1) drop of negro blood is what defines an African American. Don't know if that includes blood transfusions.

The votes had not been all counted, yet Sen. Clinton stood at the microphones and spoke as if she had just won the nomination. She was not even close. The numbers were not yet all counted in Indiana, still she spoke as if she was the winner. She lost big time in North Carolina not because of people of color as some have suggested but because natural born citizens of the UNited STates have taken a stand against the business as usual in Washington, D.C. Every body knows that Sen. Clinton can never catch up to Sen. Obama's total delegates. Sen. Clinton needs to end her agony now before it becomes even more unbearable.

Better go llok up your Rezko trial info.
Obama was identified as "the politician" Rezko's "straw donor" donated to.
Straw donor, as in: The NAME of a real person, listed as donor of the cash, WHO was not in reality, the donor of the cash. (Generally used to coverup up SOURCES of campaign funds - so that the donors cannot be CONNECTED to FAVORS done by the candidate. (check Chicago Sun Times nsp.)
p.s. do some searching on the web & you will also turn up articles about Obama's campaign finance reports while he was in the Illinois legislature ... listed the law firm he worked for previously, but was not active with at the time ... as the source of his income for one year ... listing the firms hundreds of clients as the sources of income...when, in fact, he had ONLY ONE, NOT LISTED, source of income that year ... a guy/Company named Blackwell (Not the Iraq Blackwell).
i.e. aka: money laundering.

Kip:
While I realize and understand the demographic trends of successful campaigns and am not ignoring the importance of the majority of the constituency, I am merely saying that I believe minority groups and special interest groups have taken on a much more prominent position in American politics. I agree that the national focus of today's legislature has been directed away from the majority of people in many cases, however that is no reason to assume that these minority groups are receiving that attention unfairly.
Also my first post was mostly an ad hominem against the blogger id "dirk". While I am not downplaying the role of white citizens (the majority of voters in America), I was merely stating that "dirk"'s comment that those "other people" have no right to vote was a disgusting remark to have made. I am not black, but I was offended by the blogger's personal attitude.

Nope, I don't. But Tom Ridge, former DHS head himself, admitted that the government manipulated the terror threat matrix in the run-up to the 2004 election. I don't think anything is beyond them - fearmongering is a very potent weapon. Anything to maintain the regime. Heck, was Pearl Harbor a conspiracy to get us into WWII? We may never know.

My skin color is white. Those were supposed to be racist "code words" ... the only possible BENEFIT to the Clintons being that ... white people ... would get the "message" ... & Vote against Obama.
Whatever those "words" may have meant to you, I can tell you that NO "white" people would RECOGNIZE them as "code" for ANYTHING. If the Clintons "meant" them to be "code" .... wouldn't most of us white people HAVE to KNOW the "code" in advance?
Have you read the post about what I saw on TV? We HAVE just the ONE snippet: Clinton saying: Jesse Jackson won the SC primary. The MEDIA ... given 2 opportunites to provide us with THE QUESTION, asked on the first instance, AND, asked in the second instance, months later .... DID NOT PROVIDE them.
Lyndon Johnson DID get the civil rights legislation passed. That is a FACT. Jesse Jackson DID lose the SC Primary.
NOW, IF anybody wants ME to take those as ... racist ... remarks, then they are going to have to EXPLAIN, POINT OUT, SHOW ME/ US .... how you figure?

Our vaunted GDP is Las Vegas: we're all sitting around betting on which company will make more money for them - by exporting what's left of our manufacturing base to China. Which, I may add, is laughing all the way to the bank.
I won't be drawn into a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent whose only recourse is Ctrl-V. I can copy and paste too, but that doesn't make my arguments any more persuasive.
My point is - vote for whom you want. I'm voting my conscience. And it's none of the above. We have a choice in this country, at least until the October surprise results in the rest of our freedoms being taken away. Wait for the terrorist strike on US soil right about then. It'll happen.

A "superpower" is not made just by nukes alone - or does that mean North Korea is a superpower??? The Soviet Union was a one-dimensional superpower only by virtue of its arsenal. A true superpower is one because of its overwhelming superiority in economic, military, diplomatic and cultural might. Our military is being funded by loans - the war in Iraq is the first one we've fought on credit, and your children and grandchildren will pay for it decades from now. The US economy was bailed out by sovereign wealth funds - the Chinese and the Gulf states. There's nothing more sad than a superpower holding out the tin cup like a beggar. Our diplomacy has deteriorated to the point where our only option is "do what we say or we'll bomb the crap out of you."
W is running out the clock on the most disastrous 8 years this country has seen. I can almost guarantee that we will see some pretty heinous stuff once he leaves office - stuff that was swept under the rug until he left, much like he did in Texas.

elme - I'm Black. Believe me, it wasn't the media that made me think Bill's comments were racist!! I was a Clinton supporter. The second the words came out of his mouth, I looked at my husband and we both let out a "What the hell did he just say??". My phone started ringing almost immediately. The damage was done before the media had a chance to spin that. Take the "bitter" comments, multiply them by 10...and that's how pissed off Black people were about Bill Clinton's Jesse Jackson comment and Hillary's comments about Lyndon Johnson. (I do think the "fairy tale" issue was over played by the media..but then again, I don't know many people that said that statement played a part in thier decision to switch to Barack.)
I think it would have done a lot of good if either of them would have immediately apologized or at least acknowledged their statements were poorly worded and caused a lot of ill feelings. I think a lot of Black people liked them enough to forgive and move on. Instead, they tried to play victim, pretend like it wasn't a real issue (even more insulting), and refused to take any responsibility. Now she's all but written the Black vote off and her race-baiting has only gotten more blantant and more offensive.
One of my co-workers had an excellent analogy to explain the Clintons. She says.. they're like the friend that always came to your house when you were a kid, played with your toys...but then pretended like they didn't know you in front of the cool kids at school. Maybe they don't tease you, but they don't stand up for you either.
I don't think the Clinton's are racist. In fact, I know they are not. But it's pitiful that they seem to be soliciting and welcoming the racist vote.

Dan Balz/Washington post,
How can you actually consider "one of her most loyal supporters" (paragraph 3), or "veteran democrat" (paragraph 4) to be valid sources? You can not just invent a vague "person" and write whatever your opinion about the current issue is. If in fact the above mentioned people do exist and have those opinions, then there has been a gross editing mistake. I advise you to include names in situations like this in the future, otherwise your publication will surely lose what little credibilty it still has.
Sincerely,
Samatha N. Walsh

The 24/7 coverage on Cable News/Talk shows have been consistent with the Print part of The Media as well. I am hoping these SDs and others will wake up before it is to late.

Wright & his protege Obama overlook ONE REAL BIG FACT in the HISTORY of America:
It took a WHOLE LOT MORE ... WHITE-Skinnned PEOPLE to Speak Out, Stand Up, and FIGHT for the right of ALL Americans to be Free, and, judged not on Skin Color but on the content of their character....than it did dark-skinned people.
Those white colored Abolitionists; those white soldiers who died fighting for the North in the Civil War; those white people who spoke, and marched, and died with the dark colored people in the Civil Rights marches in the 1960's.
Wright and Obama BLINDLY overlook that fact; they dishonor all the REAL Civil Rights Fighters black and white.
Posted by: elme | May 7, 2008 10:23 PM
This is hor$3$#!t.
Your candidate lost, according to rules she agreed to. She claimed originally that putting her name on Michigan's ballot was for their benefit (so they wouldn't feel forgotten), not hers (so she could be nominated). If Hillary wants to play by Republican rules, let her run as a Republican. She chose the party. She agreed to the rules. She lost. The time to gripe about them was before the primary season, when she felt secure in her inevitability, not at the end, when she's lost.
Hillary acknowledges only one rule - "I must win". All others are negotiable, to serve that end.
Some of you are really sickening in your posts. Blacks should not be allowed to vote? You call yourselves Democrats? There is a literally Stalinist sense of entitlement I'm getting here; that power for your candidate is the only good, any means necessary to secure that end are legitimate and all those who oppose are evil enemies.
You make me sick.

ONCE AGAIN READ THIS !!!
Obama's Book - Quotes from his book(s)
Notice the last one!! Scary
These passages from Barrack's books:
From Dreams of My Father:
I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.
From Dreams of My Father
I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and
animosity against my mothers race.
From Dreams of My Father:
There was something about him that made me
wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.
From Dreams of My Father:
It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty
to the black masses, to strike out and name names.
From Dreams of My Father:
I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my
own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that
I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of
Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.
From Audacity of Hope:
I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.
QUESTION: DO YOU THINK THE WINDS ARE SHIFTING? AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, WHAT DOES HE THINK?!! AND THIS MAN IS ACTUALLY GOING TO TAKE CHARGE OF OUR NATION.. OH TO THINK HE WILL BE THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF... SCARRRY VERY SCARRRRY !!!!!!

Decision Time for Clinton?
It was decision time for Clinton weeks ago. She expected to be coronated with the nomination and in her misguided belief she ran a poor campaign that had no plan or money past Super Tuesday. If she can't run a campaign that had celebrity name recognition in its favor how can she run the country? Super delegates might question how she could run a good campaign against the Republican Swiftboaters who will throw the kitchen sink at her when she can't beat an honest Black man with a funny name and a crazy minister? Hillary may try hard but her plans and decisions are not winning plans or winning decisions. The time for her to get out has past, the longer she stays in the more she shows herself as a sore loser.

Obama needs to quit standing behind his prejudice black sheet. He is poison. He big mouth about white Reagan democrats, uneducated Hillary supporters, gun-toting, religious clinging, typical white woman(his grandmother, who raised his ungrateful ass), six-pack joes, along with his glassy-eyed militant flunkies. He is a divider and this country will be truly divided when the lame jackasses in the DNC try to raise him to President.
This country will pay big if they elect this little whiny ass to office. Blames everything on others for his mistakes!
He is the most prejudice politician to run for office I have been disgusted to watch.
But he has you children who think they know ()*& and don't. Now I know why the Democratic mascot is an ASS!
As would be in the words of the Reverend Wright, GOD DAM THE ******* AMERICAN DNC!!!

There's a reason she is running out of money. Same thing happened to Romney. No money = no support. Hillary's money all came in large donations by a few people and corporations. Obama's is coming from a groundswell of many, many donors. There's the writing on the wall for you.
I'm unaffiliated in MD and despite our "democratic" system that started out offering us some 20 "choices" at the beginning, I still have yet to cast a single vote.
I'm tired of voting AGAINST people. My advice: we should all vote our conscience and WRITE IN someone we want to vote FOR, not one of these choices we're stuck with. That is democracy. We need some more parties that actually represent people. Green, Labor, Pro-Life, Guns, Religious Right, whatever. Anything goes. I'm going to write in Al Gore when the time comes in November.

It boggles my mind that the man everyone's hailing as the one to bridge divisions is actually an extremist leftist liberal.
Call me a cynic, but I think only a centrist could bridge the gulf between the left and the right.
As a non-American, I think it would be funny if America elected Obama despite his links to Rezko, Auchi, Wright and Ayers.
Ayers is a Communist and Wright sounds like the Ayatollah.
There's an adage that says "You can tell a man by the company he keeps".

This unpleasant situation was brought about by Sen. Clinton herself by voting in favor of the Iraq War and the resolution on Iran. She could not recognize the change in the direction of the wind.
As the primary season progressed she kept on shifting her position on issues including the Iraq war. Bill was indeed bad for her campaign. I am sure she knows that HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY. Her Bosnia story must have reminded her of that maxim.

Weakening the Democratic Party...Division increasing .... ?
Don't blame Hillary:
Like she said today .... If --- the Dem party had the same RULES as the Repub party she would have already been the Dem Candidate ... months ago ... & been running against McCain all this time.
BLAME: The StUPID Dem Party Rules, AND Insist they be CHANGED.
BLAME: The DEM Party SELL-OUTS:
IF you was a ... Republican ... & you WANTED ... to Divide the Dem Party ...
Could YOU think of a BETTER Way to do it ... than ... RUN a black man, against a white woman?
IF YOU was a Dem Party LEADER ... WITH ... a BRAIN, and, you started off the campaign season with Clinton ALL BUT ELECTED PRESIDENT ... as close as the Dem party has EVER been to: A SURE-FIRE WIN ... would you say, oh, OK ... let's just let this FRESHMAN Senator ... give it a try TOO? ... duh...huh...huh, okey dokey let's just run a black man against a white woman.
NOT only NO, but HELL NO! YOU would NOT do that.
The problem is, dear children, the rich have gotten Sooooo much richer they are now able to BUY themselves a WHOLE BUNCH of SELL-OUT Democrats.
Problem for those Sell-out Dems is: The internet. We will find out who they are AND we WILL throw them OUT.

It is not time for Hillary to stop running for President.
We need good leadership for a better future in America.
Our country has been run into the ground by George Bush Jr.
Stop the war, high gas prices, job loss, poor education, and the illegals from coming into our country.
The way the election was won in North Carolina was illegal, just like when Bush was elected President, both times.
Do we as a people have any rights or is it just a political game where we are all being used like puppets. Are we just rolling over and turning our heads because we are to busy with our own lives to be bothered? The way the country is run effects every aspect of our lives and we should be more concerned with what is going on.
Obama is a joke of a candidate and never should have gotten this far.

Clinton Supporters: Do you support Senator Clinton more than you support the principles of the Democratic Party (fair wages, affordable healthcare, quality education, etc)? If Senator Obama is the eventual Democratic nominee, it is hard for me to understand how a vote for Senator McCain is somehow a show of support for Senator Clinton if she does not win. What I know for sure, is that I do NOT want a third term of Bush policies, and that is EXACTLY what we will get if Senator McCain eventually wins the general election.

uhh, and JakeD. I am dying to know what football game does McCain's primary problems remind you of? Seems like someone is not closing the deal that strongly - I thought everyone was behind him.
*************************
In the GOP primaries in North Carolina and Indiana, the basically uncontested Republican nominee did not gain more than 80 percent of the vote.
In Indiana, McCain earned the backing of 78 percent of Republican primary voters, with exited candidates Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney gaining 10 percent and five percent respectively. Congressman Ron Paul, who is still in the race, has received seven percent of the vote.
The numbers were even worse in North Carolina, where McCain won 74 percent of the vote, with Huckabee earning 12 percent, Paul earning seven percent, and four percent of Republican primary goers simply voting "no preference."

i'm not an embracer of the clintons any longer on a personal or political level. nevertheless they represented me, our party and the nation. their service was through trying times. i choose to look back with the fondness i felt most of that decade that feels like a lifetime ago. they fought the good fight along side me. their service to this country, the same as mr. mccain's. should be honored. i welcome them to the fight of our lives as the balance of this nation's and our planets's existence hangs in the balance.
let us unite first as one democratic party and then as a country. let's all keep our eyes on the prize. in the words of lincoln, 'united we stand, divide we fall".

As a young person, this man inspires me like no one political figure has since I've been alive. He's the kind of person I read about in my history books that I've been waiting for. You older people had the Kennedys, FDRs, MLKs, etc. These people INSPIRED people. So much so that people had to DIE. Where the hell is my fireside chat? Who's going to tell me it's not what my country can do for me, but what I can do for my country? What the hell? Instead, we got some guy who doesn't know where Korea is and is trying to foster a war to prepare for the 2nd coming. Great job, old people! Awesome work!
A president doesn't do the dirty work, he makes his cabinet and administration do it. He doesn't have experience. Well, I've had about enough of "experience" than I can handle. White men aren't going to vote for him because he's black. Well, no Democrat has won the white vote since LBJ and if voters are going to be haters, well, God help them. Obama says there's hope for you too. That's right, we STILL LIKE YOU YOU HATERS! I LIKE THE CRAP OUT OF YOU!
Every year, a big batch of young people get old enough to vote and so help me God, I will get out there and make sure every Democrat or potential Democrat in the country registers. And we'll all be better for it because people die for our right and it's about time that young Americans started thinking about their country instead of drooling over Britney Spears.
You can't make everyone think the same thing, nor should they, but the party is going to come together and the GOP is scared. Look at them! Hey media - be part of history and listen to the man!
Obama's smart! Don't be scared! He's inspirational! He's going to change this country and, yes folks, he's black!
Congratulations America. You grew up.

He didn't take the big states, the States the Democrats need to win in the Fall to win the Election. Florida and Michigan will be voting then too. Then we have the fact that Obama will not be able to back away from debates with McCain, like he did against Hillary recently, he didn't like a few little questions in that last debate, what's he going to do then? Cause I got news ,he'll get more than those. Actually, McCain won't have to do anything, his surrogates will do the attacking for him, there's probably more stuff that's bound to come out on Obama, since the media didn't vet him till late in the game. They already may have things ready and waiting. What he faced against Hillary will be like a skip through the roses compared to what he's going to get from Republicans and we see how well he holds up under just a couple questions. He doesn't do well at all, unless it's a pre-written speech or he gets the questions in advance. He's Toast, might as well get use to saying President McCain

SOMEBODY's got a lot of ...'splainin' to do...Lucy...
Since ... Obama's had 2-to-5 TIMES as much $MONEY from the start of this campaign season...
...AND... just about ALL the "Mainstream Media": NBC ... MSNBC ... CNN ... CBS ... FOX, The New York Times, and most of the rest of the Newspapers in the USA ... Putting out Pro-Obama/Anti-Clinton PROPAGANDA for him....
.... HOW COME Obama's only ahead by about 0.25% in the Popular Vote?
Doesn't that Make Clinton the STRONGEST candidate, BY FAR?
Suppose ... the Repubs start giving McCain 2-to-5 Times More MONEY than Obama has --- WHEN the general election comes up ...
....&suppose ... NBC ... MSNBC ... CNN ... CBS ... FOX, and most of the rest of the Newspapers in the USA ... start PUSHING for McCain .... do ya THINK Obama will come in within 0.25% in the popular vote?
Clinton DID it ... WITHOUT the media on her side. She DID it WITHOUT 2-5 TIMES MORE MONEY.
Obama can't do it. The MEDIA will not be on his side when the General Election comes up. BECAUSE the MEDIA is OWNED & CONTROLLED by the $$$BIG MONEY PEOPLE:
NBC/MSNBC = GE (2nd largest corp. on earth)
CBS = Westinghouse
CNN - AOL TIME Warner
They're backing Obama NOW - to get rid of Clinton so McCain ---The REPUBLICAN will Win.
