Obama: 'Be Nice to Clinton Supporters.'
By Matthew Mosk
PORTLAND, Ore. -- Sen. Barack Obama showed every sign of confidence that he has secured the Democratic nomination during a high-dollar fundraiser at a posh club here last night.
Obama predicted a victory in Oregon and said he believed the resulting delegate haul would "put us over the top."
"We will be able to say we have won a majority," he said. "But we have a lot of work to do ahead of us."
For the past several days, Obama has been moving closer to declaring himself the party's nominee, even as Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has been campaigning aggressively to soak up delegates in the few remaining primaries. At an event in the timber-country town of Roseburg, Ore., he twice slipped into past tense when referring to Clinton's bid and the primaries.
Already, top fundraisers for Clinton and Obama have begun private talks aimed at merging the two candidates' teams.
At the fundraiser, he told a boisterous crowd of about 300 supporters that a win in November would require a unified Democratic Party, adding: "That means all of you have to be nice to Clinton supporters."
Not everyone in attendance was firmly sold on Obama. Christine Cha, 41, a radiation oncologist at the Oregon Clinic, said her husband was completely on board, but she continued to relate to Clinton. She said appreciates "how hard it is for a woman to try and break the ultimate glass ceiling." She didn't mind the tough primary, saying, "I think the process is very important. It's good she's giving him a real run for it so he is tested now."
On the other hand, there were many who said they had fallen for the senator, including Jeff and Annie Strain, both in their late 30s, who drove more than three hours from Seattle to attend the event.
And there was Julia Brim-Edwards, 46, who became a Republican in 1979 and worked on Capitol Hill for Republicans including then-Sen. Bob Packwood of Oregon. She ran her husband's campaign for state treasurer (he's Randall Edwards, a Democrat), and said he won the primary by only a few hundred votes. She had not changed parties to help him. But in April, she says she switched parties for Obama. "He will fundamentally change the country," she said. "He's very unique."
Michelle Obama introduced her husband at the event, in the wood-paneled University Club of Portland, and she expressed some surprise at where the two have found themselves after 15 months of campaigning. "So here we are," she said. "Probably not where we were supposed to be, ever. No one put their money on Barack Obama."
At which point, a woman in the crowd shouted, "I did!"
"And look what you've done," Michelle Obama smiled.

Attention Clinton supporters who will support McCain if Obama is nominated:
Attention Clinton supporters who will support Clinton running on an Independent ticket if Obama is nominated:
Attention Cynthia Ruccia, organizer of a national group called Clinton Supporters Count, Too has said, "If Hillary Clinton isn't going to be our nominee, then we are going to actively campaign against (the Democratic Party) and vote for John McCain." :
Who do you all think Hillary Clinton is going to vote for if Obama is nominated?
Do you think that she as a Democratic candidate wants to see a Republican in the White House?
Do you think the Democratic Party is going to help Clinton fund a run against their own nominee to help a Republican win the presidency?
One final question is for Hillary Clinton: Why aren't you strongly taking the position against your supporters who threaten a Democrat becoming the next President?

I just met and spoke to the first Clinton supporter that would vote for McBush if Obama gets the nomination. I told her I was baffled and wanted to know why, which didn't get me anywhere. I am a supporter of Obama but will hold my nose and vote for Clinton given the lesser of two evils; I wasted one vote on Nader and helped GW into office so I will not sit out or do a write in. The one thing I truly believe is we cannot allow Bush the 3rd to be elected, our country may not be able to take it.

Gary - What you are doing is spiteful. You hate McCain and you know he will be the worse possible thing for our country but you don't care because you did not get your way. That is sad because Obama may not be perfect be he is superior to McCain and his old policies. The party did not betray you, you betray america by voting for another republican.

As we draw a close to this democratic primary season it is mathematically evident that Sen. Barack Obama will be the democratic nominee. Unfortunately I think many of the Clinton supporters and especially women have become spiteful. I will explain. Regardless of how the media may or may have not treated Sen. Clinton it is absurd for women to feel that if she doesn't win then they will either sit out of the general election or vote for John McCain. That would be equivalent to putting a loaded gun to your head and pulling the trigger. It is spiteful to knowingly vote for another Bush term where all of our right (not only women's) will again be trampled on by an old man. To put us through that for 4 more years would be ludicrous. More importantly though, women see Mrs. Clinton as the closest they've come to being in that level of power and a means to give women more opportunities. By voting for McCain women would be denying the same type of opportunity to another worthy minority and giving it to another one of the WASP boys. It's hippocritical for women to take that "my way or the highway attitude" rather than working with all democrats to support any eventual democratic candidate. To not support Obama who is closer to Clinton's policies and to vote for McCain who is a world away from policies benefiting all of us would be unforgiveable.

Funny how the Hillary supporters are saying they would rather vote for McCain. I don't believe them. Would they really do that? How petty and irresponsible. Once their disappointment fades and they have a chance to consider what that really means they will change their mind.
I like McCain. Actually sent him money once because he spoke out against the religious right. But the Republicans have to be held accountable for the Bush years and how stupid they have become. The Republicans can't be allowed to benefit from their tragic mistakes.
Obama has that ability to communicate that Reagan had. Hillary supporters are upset because they haven't been able to make dirt stick on him. Well - consider what that brings to the office of the president. The Clintons carry so much baggage that they would never get anything done. They are proven, unabashed liars - even their cynical supporters think so but they rationalize that it is just a part of the game.
As Americans we must not make the same mistake of voting only for the familar. As a rule - never vote for the son, spouse or sibling of a famous politian whether they are Bush, Clinton or Kennedy.
I (reluctantly) registered as a Democrat because Obama's message for change resonates with with the 'better angels of (my) nature'. Having recently read 'Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln' - Obama reminds me of Lincoln. He appears to have the empathic intelligence that Hillary doesn't. He is a smart man who doesn't pander. His message treats the listener with respect. He acknowleges that there are more than one side to an issue and seeks cooperation rather than a fight. Even though I may not be so enthusiastic about all his policies, I have to go with the candidate who seems most likely to bring honor and civility to our politics.
If Hillary supporters won't get past their bitterness to support Obama. I (and other independant voters) will fill the gap.

Obama is a slick politician and his supporters are sick. If Hillary Clinton is robbed of democratic nomination, I and millions of her supporters will either vote for McCain, write Hillary in as our candidate or not vote all. Obama and his supporters... take your dumb racist asses to hell!!!
_______
Another county heard from. Thank you, typical supposed clingon supporter.
You know what cracks me up when these folks say there are 17 million people who vote for obama? Where are these supporters donations? How come 17 million (right) supporters can't keep her financially competitive? Surely they haven't all maxed out their contributions.

I am saddened to see the number of negative and mean spirited comments here. Regardless of who is running or who wins, America as a country cannot win and live up to its potential unless we are more united. Granted, we all have differences, but we are all Americans, and while we may not utterly fail if we are divided, we will not be nearly as strong and effective on the home stage or the world stage. One of the attributes I like about Senator Obama is his desire, and on many occasions, his ability to bring out the best in Americans. What is more patriotic than getting people to question the status quo and look for solutions that improve America? A person of no less stature than Thomas Jefferson encouraged this. No, I don't believe Obama is perfect, but he is smart, intelligent (the two do not necessarily go together), listens and considers others' viewpoints, and most of all, he has integrity. I am a passionate Obama supporter, but I will vote for Hillary if she gets the nomination. And, while I have serious concerns about some of McCain's positions, particularly his deference to more ultra
conservative Republicans-- if he should win the election in November, he will still be my president. The environmental, economic, health, and education problems in this country leave no room for petty partisan politics. If we don't unite to find solutions, the only people who will win are the rich "takers" in America. And, if the environment gets bad enough, even they, with their billions, won't be able to purchase clean air and unpolluted water.

It seems to me that both parties have lost their bearings.
Obama's latest speech: " we can't drive our SUV's, we can't eat everything we want and expect other countries to say nothing.
Obviously he is running for Premier of the one world government that he supports. (as do the others).
They ALL need to get their collective heads out of their nether regions and make America what is once was.
The way they are ALL campaigning, it seems like they are more worried about what other countries think of us, rather than getting serious about the problems that this country is facing.
I feel that this country is ready for a female Presidential nominee, just NOT this one. She should be ashamed of even being in the Senate, let alone campaigning for the highest office in the land.
I also feel that this country is more than ready for a black MAN in the White House, but, Obama is not the one for this country at this time and place.
McCain is so far out of touch with reality, it scare me just thinking that he would be in close proximity to the "Red Button".
In short, both parties do not listen to the voters, just their corporate owners.
Just my opinion!

Hillary apparently can't see the forest for the trees. It's all over. All we need is for the fat lady in the pantsuit to say goodbye. Does she not know what a graceful exit is? It's time for her to capitulate before she's hooked off the stage.

"Hillary has a honesty problem". Really and Obama doesn't. Please get real, he has lied so many times that I've stopped counting. Only when he is caught does he own up to the partial truth. "ie, Wright-didn't know he said those things (really after 20 years in Church AND Chicago". Just one lie of many.
Sorry Mr. Dean and company, you have tried to shove this candidate down our throats from day one. I can not vote for McCain but I will not vote for Obama, so I will write in Hillary's name and vote down ballot Republican to send the message to the DNC.

You guys who are so avid about Clinton must not read the news or see the things she says. Are you all just blindly following family/regional ties or what? Obama has had to spend most of his campaign defending attacks and trying to clear his name because people like the ones in the Clinton campaign have spent all their time to trying to slander him and make up childish sob stories rather than discuss any actual facts. And McCain? Yea that's the kind of two-faced president everybody wants. Nothing's going to change unless you people let it and the reason nothing ever happens is because you're all too blind and too jaded by past presidents doing just about nothing to even consider that it might possible for a man like Obama to actually deliver on promises and work towards change rather than policy. Bush can talk about appeasement all he wants but all he's done his entire 8 years is "appease" naive Americans who don't have enough technical/political/financial knowledge to understand even a portion of the suggested actions. The thing ruining the country isn't the president it's that Americans are too scared to take a chance on a great thing anymore and they'd just prefer if the president was white. And of course the women are going to support Hillary cause she's a woman and "we don't have an equal life" and all that nonsense. Get a college degree and work hard dog days like men and work to supply your husband with a brand new 300$ wallet and million dollar wardrobe and a $4000 engagement leather belt and you'll live the same lives men do. I'm voting Obama '08 cause if anybody else gets in office, nothing's going to get done, just another 4-8 years of appeasing naive, ignorant, uneducated people with short-sided policies that do little more than look good on paper.

People who say if their candidate doesn't win the primary they will vote for McCain are fools who don't really support anything their candidate believes in and are acting like spoiled children.
This is democracy, you win some you lose some, but going over to the other side, to a side with a candidate who opposes everything the you like supports, that my friends is the dumbest, most selfish thing I have ever heard.
You losers run to McCain and if he wins you'll only have yourself to blame when we live through another fours years of hell.

Obama is just a nice guy! No real nor solid value. He thought just being nice to us, Hillary supporters, we will vote for him. We want more than that. Support us now in counting all Michigan and Florida votes as is. Take a chance of losing; and if Obama still wins then he will get our votes in general election. But I don't see any sign that he would accept the integrity of all primary votes, therefore he is not fit to be President. Mr Obama, I don't trust you.

I have read this entire thread, and I see that there are many people who say that if their candidate isn't the nominee, then they'll vote Repug. It goes both ways.
I, myself, am neutral. Both Democratic candidates are very good, and we WILL need to unify behind one of them in order to prevent this country from spiralling into the abyss. The nomination could still go either way, but listening to the subversive people saying "My candidate or no one!" will only cause us to spend the next several years in grief and torment.
Well, that or Canada.
I have some foresight, though. I believe that Obama, saying that we all need to "play nice", is preparing us all for a joint ticket. I get a very strong feeling that is what is going to happen.
So, c'mon guys. Let's not make this personal. The Repugs want us to remain divided, but we cannot, and must not tear at our own throats. Let's face it, both candidates have similar stances, have a similar voting record, have similar experiences, thoughts and policies.
Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton '08 AND '12! Can you get behind it?
I can.

I want my daughters to have a better example of leadership in the first woman president than Hillary Clinton. Clinton supporters who claim this is some sort of misogynist conspiracy know less about their party than they do about politics.
Hillary's campaign was poorly managed. They didn't get as much out of their dollar as Obama's did, they were constantly focused on image (hers and Obama's) in a time when people are paying a lot more attention to real issues than they ever have, and her campaign as a whole still fails to recognize that the negative campaigning ultimately doomed them more than any other factor.
And I'm terribly sorry but she's shifty. The Clintons always have been. There's a reason nobody ever dredged up BS like flag pins and what the preacher said on the Clinton's. Nobody ever needed to. There were and still are plenty of skeletons in that particular closet. In a campaign where the other leading candidates at least give lip service to campaign finance reform, Hillary is hauling a truckload of undisclosed campaign donors with her on her bid for the White house and telling us it would be "hard" to do anything about campaign finance issues.
And yes, she has demonstrated some uncomfortable similarities with Bush. She has an honesty problem. She plays the "repeat it until it's true" game even when it's clear nobody is buying it. She confuses mule-headed stubbornness with conviction. She will throw ANYBODY under the bus to get what she wants. She appeals to the worst in humanity through identity politics, negative campaigning, and by confusing cynicism with realism.
Now you tell me Clinton supporters, what have I side against Hillary here that's sexist or untrue? Is it that hard for you to imagine that we might actually have perfectly reasonable and well-informed opinions? I'm willing to hear yours for Clinton and against Obama but all I ever see out here on the 'net is BS and in spite of myself having a reputation for fairness and calm demeanor under intense political discussion, trying to talk to you in person about Hillary vs. Barack is a challenge in keeping the opposite party on the happy side of the hysteria zone.
It is no coincidence that so many of the Clinton diehards are boomers and female. After eight years of Bush, this is no longer a decision we can responsibly make based on how the candidate makes us feel about the boxes we put ourselves in.

I do admit Obama can and should make a stronger case to the rural voters, some of whom just want to be persuaded and whose minds aren't closed to his candidacy.
That being said, Audrey, Blu and others who think like you, PLEASE LEAVE THE BIG TENT IMMEDIATELY!! and report to the McSame Republican Outhouse where you already belong.
Real Dems shouldn't waste any time more time trying to convince these types of people, since they WILL NEVER vote for Obama whether it served their interests or not.
So what! The Dems will lose these haters, good riddance, but Dems will gain lots more in Independent and Rep voters who are willing to think for themselves so we won't be BUSHwacked by believing the S$%#&!! being shoveled from the Rep Outhouse again.

I repeat my question to Obama supporters (I'm one). Do you personally know one person who believes as these supposed clingon supporters believe? Do you know one person who supports clingon and will not vote for Obama in the GE? I don't. I'm trying to find one.
I maintain all this shouting is from a very small minority of rabid followers, republicans, and people with undemocratic agendas who will make no difference in the GE.

Nana, since when has one iota of this campaign against Hillary been based on the fact that she is a woman? Redirect your anger elsewhere because there has not been a systematic anti-woman agenda at the DNC.
Posted by: nate | May 19, 2008 10:13 AM
It is late to consider the Hillary supporters. I have seen all I need to see about Obama and much of it has been from his supporters. The DNC ripped a gash in their "big tent" and lost a 40 yr association and identity with the women of this country. They have replaced us with the college crowd. They believe they have new, additional voters but cannot understand that they now have just a replacement of voters and that women have fled the chains of the Dem Party and will begin to work hard for ourselves and not to help the Dem party look good anymore. The DNC can get their funding from "the endorsers" and the college kids who live still with their parents and whose enthusiasm will "move on" to the next big celebrity cause soon. I'm just "not ready to make nice" after the disgusting display of disrespect for women and for the free elective process we are supposed to have.

That says it all! There are more important things at stake than party unity. If Obama is the nominee I will do what ever I can to help defeat him in November.
Posted by: Blu | May 19, 2008 9:32 AM
I too once thought that Hillary was the one UNTIL I started seeing her for who she really is. She has no one to blame except herself for her pending defeat. At the beginning people saw a stubbornness in her (like Bush)with her refusal to admit her Iraq vote as being a mistake. An inability to tell or face the truth (like Bush) A divisiveness in her tactics (like Bush) over the last few months of the campaign. Her loyalty is reserved only for herself or another Clinton. That being said, mark my words, she is not in this for you die hards who are threatening to vote for McSame. Because she knows that no one could really be so dense as to vote against their own future interests. SHE WANTS OBAMA/SOMEONE TO PAY HER CAMPAIGN DEBT!! So she can run again in the future. For ONLY that is what truly matters to her now. It's not you or any issue. When and if her debt is paid, she will act as if she ALWAYS!! supported Obama. Dems Watch and Learn (again & again,..sic)

Since the media has failed voters and Obamas refuse to explain or tell the truth, Maybe you can explain Obamas relationship with Ayers, Gadaffi Syrian tycoon, Antoin Rezko, Saudi Arabian Scheiks and Nadhami Auchi, Iraqi billionaire, global arms dealer who was best friends with Saddam Hussein, and the main financial backer for Saddam's Iraqi -Saudi oil pipeline, and stood trial with Saddam Hussein for conspiring to assassinate Iraqi President Qasim. VOTERS are concerned why CNN & MSNBC refuse to question those relationships, coupled with Obama's 20 plus yrs with Rev. Wright shows a serious pattern, which Obama seems quite comfortable with people who really, really, really HATE U.S of America. If you question him or his values or policies, you're part of the "divisive, distracting" practices voters associate with Washington. Them's the Obama Rules.

ABSOLUTE MUST READ BEFORE YOU VOTE FOR OBAMA
http://www.dontvoteobama.net.
BOYCOTT CNN & MSNBC for manipulating the Presidential election with the biased pushing of obama before researching.
Hillary Clinton's plummets Obama in West Virginia and raises serious doubts over Barack Obama's ability.
It is a fact that no Democrat has won the White House since 1916 without winning West Virginia, Obama lost West Virginia by more than 40 points, an enormous fall, voters who went against Obama -- white, rural, older, low-income and without college degrees -- don't just live in West Virginia. They live everywhere in the country, in places Obama needs to win in a general election. In anticipation of the West Virginia primary, college students for Obama were hurling insults at farmers and truck drivers. Now we hear pained remarks from the Obama camp that many white men won't vote for any black. Oh really? No one was complaining during the early races in Iowa, Maryland, Virginia and Wisconsin, when most of the white male participants backed Obama. That was before the Rev. Jeremiah Wright ugliness became public. Obama's inability to persuade working-class white voters to back him points to serious problem for him in the presidential election. A large percentage of voters who backed Mrs Clinton said they would not vote for Obama in the presidential race if he becomes the nominee. Disrespecting the nearly 17 million who have supported Clinton is politically unwise, but turning them into "the enemy" is insane. Bill Clinton presided over the longest peacetime expansion since World War II. His budget surpluses put his so-called conservative predecessors and successor to shame. Wouldn't a vow to build on the Clinton legacy, rather than dismantle it, be a better tack for the Obama campaign? More proof Obama is to inexperienced and as a political elite out of touch with everyday America, Obama received glowing, it's-over-he-is-the-nominee coverage for the past six days, and that amounted to nothing in West Virginia. One has to wonder if the giddy praise and tingling feelings jolting up the legs of ALL at CNN and the Chris Matthewses, Keith Olbermanns cable news "Wright-free zones" of the world amounts to a hill of beans. Voters have figured out the biased media and no longer relying on them for truth!

Okay, little survey here. I really am curious. I live in Michigan and I'd say there are 30-40 democrats in my life whose opinion I know about the primary. Some supported Hillary at first.
I don't know one person who plans to vote for hillary. Does anyone actually know anyone who plans to vote for her?
I think that's why I find all of this so funny. Who are these people if not republican operatives?

Ignore all comments on politicians' character. The question is: do you want four more years of the same policies that put us where we are today? Yes or no.

Hmmmm let's see....Hillary Clinton supporters are supposedly racist, bitter, uneducated, divisive, etc., etc..
Sorry but after the Obama camp has showed itself for what it is - elitist, vulgar and violent, no way in hell is he ever going to get my vote, no matter how much he begs his own to make nice. Obama is an enigma, yet you can't question him because otherwise you are labeled a racist. I'm tired of the ugliness this man and his cronies have created. McCain gets my vote in November, if Clinton is not the nominee. The DNC divided the party thanks to their visions of grandeur, not the Clintons. And if John McCain was good enough to be considered John Kerry's VP in 2004, he's good enough for me in 2008.

anyone who says that they are either going to vote for hillary or mccain is either 1) a republic just posting things to rile everyone up, or 2) a democrat who is still too caught up with everything to think clearly. obama and hillary have nearly identical platforms, and they differ with mccain on pretty much every issue that matters. saying you'll vote for mccain out of spite is not very clear headed, and as time passes, real democrats will vote for the democratic nominee. we are going to win very big this year.

Interesting... quite a few posters complained about how they've been "beaten up" by Obama supporters; they indicate that it is this poor treatment that is the cause of them not being willing to vote for Obama in November, now that he's the presumptive Democratic nominee.
But if you look at the comments, just do a quick tally -- count pro-Obama, pro-Clinton, anti-Obama, anti-Clinton, and unknown.
Note that I see a great number of anti-Obama posts, and a few pro-Clinton posts (praising her policy choices in one rare example, otherwise mostly just praising the fact that she's a woman).
However, I see almost no anti-Clinton posts -- I don't see this horrible beating that Clinton fans are taking. I do see a lot of people saying "it's over," but this isn't beating up Clinton, it's just the truth (no matter how you slice the math, even with FL and MI, Clinton cannot win things without some kind of coup). I really don't see the evil attacks by Obama supporters. But I DO see lots and lots of attacks on Obama by pro-Clinton posters.
Which leads me to suspect one of a few things:
1) What we're really seeing is Operation Chaos, or something like it. In other words, trolls. If this is the case, I'd recommend that Obama supporters (and I am one... truth in advertising) simply ignore these comments. They really don't represent reality.
-- or --
2) Clinton's supporters are much more venomous than Obama's supporters. This might be true, especially since people tend to get mean when they feel like they're losing.
But honestly, I suspect 1. I see a lot of trolling here...

It's obvious some readers have no clue of what they're talking about. if Obama ran against Powell, Obama would lose? So beating a power politician like Clinton was a rouge? You guys kill me how you try to devalue his sucess to some sort of affirmative action spin damn near. Sickening with this ton already. Anyway, Colon Powell, had all but endorsed Barack in one of his rare interviews last month. Furthermore, this is election about "New Politics" also known as "Change". Powell played the point to deliver to this war. Neat with displays and CIA facts. He was the presenter, seller, and spokesman for it. He'd laid his overwhelming display of the facts out for the U.N. for this war. Powell, was horribly, teribbly wrong. There were no WMD's. Obama had always seen the Iraq war a Afghanistan as the wrong war. The preemptive war in iraq never should have been authorized and waged.
History has already proven Barack Obama to have been spot on with his forecast and judgment about the war, where Powell was 100% wrong. Obama is the very best candidate.
If the Republican base thought Powell could win, he'd be the nominee against Barack, right now. He is not. McCain is absolutely the best they can do. Which is more of the same.
Posted by: Anonymous | May 19, 2008 3:29 AM
So why is it that the people who weren't supporters of Obama were 'not firmly solid on Obama' while those who support him have 'fallen' for him? It makes it seem like people who haven't put their support behind Obama are all smart and intelligent while all of his supporters are just infatuated with him. I voted for Barack (in Oregon, by the way) because of his policies that will help fix this country and restore our place on the world stage, not because he looks pretty or something equally ridiculous. To continue the fallacy that Obama's only supporters are messianic followers is disingenuous and frankly insulting.

it's funny how in this nomination process it was women who played the gender and race card and the black guy refused to do either.
Sorry but if your only reasoning for voting HRC is "break the glass ceiling" then you are essentially saying you know nothing about politics you're justr voting for the highest ranking vagina in the country.

I have voted for a Democrat in every election since I was first old enough to vote (1976). I could never bring myself to vote Republican under any circumstance. This November I will vote for Hillary Clinton whether she is on the ballot or not. I don't care if she's white, black, male, female, blonde, brunette, gay or straight. I am voting for her because she is the most qualified candidate I have seen or heard in my lifetime. Nothing that happens between now and November will change my mind--even the threat of a McCain win and his potential supreme court appointees.

There were 75,000 people in mostly white Portland Oregon that said today, this isn't about race. 75,000 people who are really sick of the same old crappy politics that's been played by Washington Politicians and the Corporate press. 75000 people who believe that the republican Party and George Bush have ruined this country. 75,000 people that said Oregon is going to hand Barack Obama the nomination on Tuesday night.
I look forward to hearing the heads of the right wing racist conservatives popping in January, 2009 when Obama in inaugurated President of the United States.

The most amazing question this election season is not that Hillary is not ready to give up, it is that Hillary - the most well known brand in the country democratic circles - is struggling and that a majority of democrats dont want her. The women vote for her because they feel for her husband cheating on her and are reminded of how their own husbands cheat on them. Hillary missed a great opportunity to define herself away from Bill. Instead, she has been promising a return to the past. What a waste of a talented women. What a shame to see her to resort to lying left and right to get elected - anything to get elected. What a shame.

YOU ARE SMOKING TOO MUCH AND INHALING HRC SUPPORTERS.
What the heck are you talking about Obama being tough on Clinton? He has not been 1/50th as tough as she and her husband has....hell she started the race by saying he cant take attacks...and she is toughing him up.... and not to talk of Bills bile tirade against him. HRC is a shame to all women because she has shown that the only way women can "try" to get ahead is by cheating, lying, and being idiots...and still fail in the end. She goes around saying she has lot of baggage...and everyone had been through its... is that the qualification to thump your sagging chest on?
HRC, go away and disappear. you are like the alien beast in the movie alien. End is near.

"McCain is moderate and bi-partisan!"
"Just can't vote for Obama. He showed us no tears after Katrina."
"Vote Hillary, break that glass ceiling!"
Wow. McCain is NOT moderate. "No tears", what the hell? I'm sure Hillary and McCain bawled their eyes out. And yes, there shouldn't be a barrier to a woman president, but Hillary is NOT the answer.
Here's to hoping most of the 300mil Americans smarten up and quit taking Fox News or CNN as fact.

I still remember that speech where he said
"I was the son of a single mother;
I had to have hope to get where I am today"
Obama may not be able to give women the fist female Presidency, but his election still speaks volume about how much society has changed.
Either one could easily have been the Democratic nominee facing a divided party.

To vote out of ill-will for someone you know will be to your hurt is PERVESITY. If you are a Christian or a believer in a righteous and holy Deity you know you will be judged one day for that vote. Because why? It would be deliberate complicity. Everywhere I go I tell people what horrific thing happened to me 5 days before the WTC so-called terrorist attack. The short version (not to bore you) is that I seemed to be falling in what I thought was the world's biggest chimney. Luckily I got out of the vision before I got killed by that orange fireball that was coming up at me while I was rapidly descending down to it! Now, I'm a Republican, but more importantly, a New Testament Christian. I have no need to lie to complete strangers. And yet, I believed the government alibi about what happened on 9/11 for almost 5 years. I refused to see Michael Moore's film on the basis of "call a cigar a cigar." I refused all conspiracies--not giving any alternative explananation the time of day. But one day, in the summer of 2005, I was at a book store and I chanced upon a book called "Painful Questions about 911" [Google it]. I was scared to open it. But I did. I was SHOCKED. The vision I had also added to the weight of the arguments the author put forth: that the buildings were brought down by controlled demolition. Check out Scholarsfor911truth.com and the Google available film "Loosechange the Final Cut" My point is this: the war was founded on a selfmanufactured "crisis" The evidence is THICK that it was an inside job. Don't judge the evidence of what it was before you carefully look it over. TREASON and MASS MURDER of AMERICANS was committed before we ever set foot on the sands of Iraq people! Please, I beg you PLEASE check out these things for yourself and do not dismiss the evidence out of hand. Please, my friends, do not allow the Republicans to maintain power for another 4 years [even if you are Republican or even if you don't personally care for Obama). If I just can convince one person to check out the possibility of treason on that sad day in 2001 I can consider that vision that I had was not in vain. You know the Lord has said there is nothing that is hidden that shall not be revealed. And I am a living witness that that is so true. Vote for the greatest good for the greatest number of people. Vote with integrity and not out of spite. Think about lame veterans and youngster who got killed and never came to the potentials of their life. Think about people in the towers who couldn't get down. Think about beautiful Iraqi men and women and children and babies who got destoyed like worthless junk because of a lust for oil and wealth. Be compassionate. Be lucid. Be gracious. The maddness has to stop before it spreads into Iran--which will certainly happen if McCain takes office.

I was there. He talked about lifting citizens UP instead of pushing them DOWN. Gays, elders, minorities, genders, youths are all denied one thing or another, and in many cases remedial policies are right at our fingertips. Regardless of that, spitefulness is yucky and counter-productive... in your life and in this campaign.

Audrey, my Messiah is Jesus. Obama is the one I'm voting for president. I'm not persuaded with guilt by association, no matter how long someone knew someone. I'm not persuaded by fear, or rather, I prefer to confront my fears head on.
But no matter how nice someone tries to be, there are supporters who will act like jerks. And the more you have, the less able you are to control them.
Even so, I would be happy to change my mind if someone can give me a good, logical reason not to vote for Obama. Yes, the reason has to be logical, not emotional.
Anyhow, there were 75,000 people out there to hear him speak today. We are the new majority. Learn to accept it.
It's not like you have a choice. One vote will never outweigh 75,000 votes in a true Democracy.

OBAMA WOULD BE OUT!!!!!

Nancy, you are so right! Obama pales next to Powell. It's unfortunate about the UN deal, but I always liked the idea of Powell as president. Obamaphiles are blind to the fact that many of us Hillary supporters don't trust Obama since he's so phony and inexperienced. It has nothing to do with Obama's race. I think in 8-12 years, Obama will be a fantastic candidate once he's proven himself on a national level. So far he has no record; all he offers are vague promises and hollywood-like speeches that countless politicians in the past have offered. And then he claims not to be just like all the other politicians, ha!

nycvoter: You are correct. Obama has allowed the name-calling, race-card throwing, insults and attacks against Hillary and her supporters for months, because it served his purposes. Now, he wants us all to "come together" to defeat McCain. Fat chance. I wouldn't vote for him if he were the only person on the ballot.

If Obama really wanted to be nice to Clinton supporters, it should come from the top. Why hasn't he once said since West Virginia "the Democrats in West Virginia are not racist, they simply believe Clinton is the better choice, but if I become the nominee I will work my heart out to gain every single vote in West Virginia, from Democrats, Independents and Republicans" No, instead he lets the media go on and on about how uneducated racsits are the base of Clinton's support. He has allowed racism to be his excuse and to solidify his support in the African American community. He will never get my vote, not because I am a Hillary Clinton supporter, but because I am an American!

As usual, BHO uses patronizing language when speaking about Hillary supporters, just as he has been patronizing and sexist when speaking about Hillary (she's "likable enough", "gets her claws out when she's down,")or to other women (e.g. "sweetie" to the female journalist). So it's not surprising that he would speak in this patronizing, kindergarten way. But maybe he also understands the dumbing-down necessary to speak to his own supporters, who have to take direction from BO instead of having learned basic courtesy and civility a long time ago (try 1st grade).
As for all of you BO supporters who now belatedly want us to join you because of the fearmongering about a McCain presidency (e.g. Roe v. Wade), and that we're not supporting BO because of "hurt feelings," don't judge us by your own infantile standards. There are some of us who have genuine concerns about what a disaster Obambi will be as President due to his total lack of foreign policy experience (talking about invading Pakistan, and sitting down with nutjobs like Ahmadinijad w/o preconditions)and equal lack of experience with economic issues. This guy has never held a real, salaried job in the non-government economy for more than 3 years. That's who you want to put in charge of the free world? Not me. As for Roe v. Wade and the next Supreme Ct. justice, I heard that when Gore and Kerry were running, and we still didn't get them elected, and the sky did not fall in. Newsflash -- since the advent of the morning-after pill being sold over-the-counter, abortion is less and less an issue, and it will not be overturned.

It is a little too late for Sen. Obama to tell his supporters to be nice to the Clinton supporters. He should have thought of that sooner. Every time, which were many Sen. Obama is too immature and weak to be President. Do not have voter regret. Send Hillary all the way to the White House.

OBAMA SUPPORTERS FYI: Don't feel insulted if I fail to answer your comments. The fact of the matter is that I AM NOT TALKING TO YOU. I am only interest in talking to those Democrats and Independents who have informed themselves about this issues in this process. For months and months I did try to educated/debate with Obama supporters; show them articles to read; try and make the best case for my arguments; and NOT ONCE did any of this discussion change one mind or make one Obama supporter question their Messiah. No, what I found out is that if Obama killed a baby on live television, his cultists would say it was a mercy killing. They will not, cannot, digest any information which is not consistent with their preconceived notions about him and his candidacy. So no, I feel no compulsion to have a dialogue with most Obama supporters. The time for discussing the issues with them has come and gone. Now is the time to assist in the defeat of Obama, for the sake of our families, and for the sake of this country.

Some Obama supporters say that Hillary supporters should support Obama rather than McCain because Obama's policies are similar to Hillary's. However, they are assuming that Obama's policy statements are the only issues in the election. Yes, Obama claims that his policies are very much like Hillary's, but being the most deceptive politician in my lifetime, how can we know if that's true. But more importantly, before you analyze anyone's policies, you must look at their character. Obama has shown, time and time again, to be deceptive, ruthless and divisive. If anything, Obama has shown himself to be more ruthless and dishonest than most. And, his 20 year allegiance to a racist and anti-American "mentor and spiritual adviser" destroys his pretense as a candidate who can bring America together. One of the funniest of delusions of supposed hillary supporters is that their going to swing the election to McBush in 08 and hillary is going to run in 2012. You really couldn't be democrats...you'd know that the party hates losers. There is no way she would get half the votes she's gotten this time again, especially if her and her supporters throw this election.
I doubt she will even be reelected in the senate.

HRC supporters that are going to vote McCain in the general election should be ashamed of themselves. You guys are willing to let ultra conservatives judges get placed on the Supreme Court (you do realize they'll be there for LIFE right?!?) and soldiers DIE in a flawed war? All because some college students hurt your feelings on a message board? Please realize that this election is a lot more important then your personal feelings. There are some VERY important things at stakes (the lives of our children in one case) and to not vote for a candidate that shares virtually the same platform as HRC over something so petty is shameful.

I am a lifelong Democrat and Hillary supporter. I am also one of HRC's supporters who absolutely intends to vote for McCain in the General should Nobama be "our" nominee. I would have never expected this anti-democratic behavior and incessant spewing of vitriolic comments from fellow democrats (Obama supporters) toward HRC supporters that I have seen day after day after day. And Obama is well aware of all it, and has done absolutely nothing to try and get his supporters to tone it down.
AND I am not uneducated, so quit with the bashing on socioeconomic grounds. And on age and gender for that matter. HRC supporters are sick of it, and we absolutely will not vote for Obama. No way.
I have a post-graduate degree, and am well off financially, so cut the bashing.
p.s. there is nothing new about Obama or his politics. He is cut from old-school Chicago political machine. And he's been playing the political game for a while now. Check out what he did to Alice Palmer to get a seat in the state senate a few years ago!

I am a strong Hillary supporter and continue to believe that she would make a great president. I will vote for Senator Obama if he is the nominee. I hope for an Obama-Clinton ticket. I admired John McCain back in 2000 - but the times have changed and so too it seems has Senator McCain (offering litte more than Bush light policy). With the mess that the Bush administration is leaving behind I believe it is imperative that we have a real change.
I do want the Obama supporters to realize that Hillary has supporters that feel and believe just as passionatly about her as they feel about Senator Obama. This race will for all intensive purposes end in a statistical tie - although I do believe that Obama ran a better campaign strategically - what we are left with are two great candidates with highly motivated constituences.
I don't need Obama supporters to "be nice" - I do want them to recognize that the constituency of Hillary Clinton represents about 50% of the democratic party - and if they want our full support and enthusiasm (along with our votes) in the fall -- they will recognize our concerns and our passion, in the same way that we are asked to see theirs.

I love how Obama and his supporters, who have trashing Hillary Clinton and her supporters for months, now want us all to "just get along." And the DNC and party elite, after trying to shove Obama down our throats, want us all to unite. Well, THAT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. Every Democrat I've spoken to, and that's a lot, has told me that they plan on voting for McCain, if Obama is the nominee, and I am proud to be among them. Better a centrist Republican, than a deceptive and divisive Obama.

All you Clinton supporters, listen to what your candidate has said:
"Anybody who has ever voted for me or voted for Barack has much more in common in terms of what we want to see happen in our country and in the world with the other than they do with John McCain," Clinton said on CNN's "The Situation Room."
"I'm going to work my heart out for whoever our nominee is. Obviously, I'm still hoping to be that nominee, but I'm going to do everything I can to make sure that anyone who supported me ... understands what a grave error it would be not to vote for Sen. Obama."
HILLARY HERSELF DOES NOT WANT YOU VOTE FOR MCCAIN. She says that would be a terrible mistake. A grave error. Pay attention.

The tenor of a many anti-Obama comments posted in these pages surprises me.
If children wrote these things, at the least we'd banish them to a corner.
I suggest a little exercise: pick any one of these diatribes, but substitute HRC's name for Obama's (or whatever variant thereon the particular scribe has selected).
After you read that, can you in good conscience claim that Obama supporters have been nastier to HRC than her supporters have been, both to him and to his supporters?
And don't you think it's time to stop this nonsense?

As many of you know, Obama has hired hundreds of paid bloggers to surf the net and spread his lies and propaganda. After reviewing many of these posts, it appears that they have developed a strategy to con Hillary Clinton supporters and Independents into voting for Obama using various ploys, including: (1) The "Supreme Court" card, i.e. if Obama doesn't win, McCain will appoint conservative judges. (2) The "Roe v. Wade" card, i.e. if Obama doesn't win, the Supreme Court will overturn Roe v. Wade; (3) The "race card,", which we are all very familiar with since Obama entered the race i.e. if you are against Obama, then you are a racist; (4) The "real Democrat" card, i.e. "real Democrats" will vote for the Democratic nominee whether they like him/her or not; (5) The "baby killer card", i.e. if John McCain wins, he will institute a draft and you will be responsible for the killing of babies; and (6) The "Hillary would want you to vote for Obama" card, which is self-explanatory. ______
It is important to know that although Obama, his supporters, the DNC and party elite, and the mainstream media have conspired to marginalize the millions of Democrats who have voted for Hillary, or who do not support Obama, they will now be using every trick in the book to "bring the party together" to further the ruthless ambitions of Obama and the party elite. They will want you to forget all about the months and months of biased press, the biased party elite, the insults, and the race-cards. They will want you to forget that the Democratic Party now is the party that stands for disenfranchisement and the rationalization of racism, if it results in the nomination of their hand-picked candidate. They will use all of the above-mentioned "cards" and more, to persuade you to vote for the man who they have preordained as the Democratic nominee. DON'T FALL FOR IT!
_______
Whether you want to write-in Hillary, if possible, vote for John McCain rather than Obama, or sit out the election, remember that your action or inaction could result in the election of the inexperienced, deceptive, ruthless and divisive Obama. UNLESS YOU DESIRE THIS RESULT, PLEASE MAKE YOUR DECISIONS WISELY.

Well I just hope Hillary calls a cease fire fairly soon so this anti-Obama bitterness has a chance to die down. It's crazy to think that any Clinton fan would choose McCain over Obama. But if that's what they want to do, then that's fine with me. It's their choice. I suspect most of this talk is just hot air anyway so I'm not worried (it's happened in past campaigns). I suppose Obama's registration drive will just have to work a bit harder.
The thing that gets me is how sensitive so many people are. Obama says be nice and they take it as an insult. He makes some innocuous gesture, it's an insult. He smiles, it's arrogant. He doesn't smile he's arrogant. I don't think it's the Obama fans who have to chill out.
Now I've got to get going. Be nice to each other. :-)

I started off as a Hillary supporter and I still think she should continue to fight for the nomination. I feel that she would be the best person for the presidency out of the 3 running nominees.
However if Hillary does not win then there is NO way in hell that I would vote for McCain! I would gladly vote for Obama over McCain anyday.
I'm surprised to see that some of my fellow Hillary supporters on this site are suggesting that they would vote the other way.
Come on folks, it's not time to take things personal. Its time to vote for the most qualified to make the changes we need in this country. You won't get that with McCain.
Posted by: Anonymous | May 18, 2008 10:03 PM
greenfun, and what if by some miraculous event Hillary became the nominee, you don't think Obama supporters would feel the same about your candidate?
And your point is throw out the democratic process because some people think he's inexperienced? Mmmm. Inexperienced presidents, let's think for a moment. Lincoln, Kennedy and Bill Clinton. Oh, and George Bush II. Experience is no indication whether a president is successful or not. And Hillary loses on that criteria to McCain anyway. So where is her advantage in the general election? Logic my friends - please.

I find it amazing that any real Hillary Clinton voters would actually vote for McCain over Obama. On policy, there is not much difference from Obama vs Clinton, but then again maybe many of Hillary supporters are Rush Limbaugh republicans, or they like the idea of 4 more years of Bush's failed policy, the war in iraq, a failed economy, no universal health care and all the issues that really matter.

After calculated personal attacks on Sen. Clinton,
http://annienyc.blogspot.com/2008/04/barack-obamas-personal-attacks-on-sen.html
turning your rabid supporters into a vicious bunch of thugs so that you can turn this election into good guy vs. bad guy, you think "play nice kids" is going to turn the tide? yeah. right. We're not all as dumb as your kool-aid kiddie crowd. We're voting nobama. what a uniter you turned out to be.
Posted by: Jessi | May 18, 2008 9:48 PM
All you Sen. Obama supporters need to chill out. Nothing you say or do will change the way many Hillary supporters feel about your guy. From the get-go, he has taken every opportunity to bash President Clinton's administration. For those of us "older women Democrats," that is a direct slap in the face as we were the ones working the phones, GOTV, doing visibility events for President Clinton. Sen. Obama has shown little if any respect for the only two term Democratic president in my lifetime. He said nothing to his online supporters to tone down the rhetoric spewing from their ranks..frankly, it was the utter hatred and disrespect shown Sen. Clinton by Sen. Obama's supporters that turned me off to him in the first place. I wanted nothing to do with that group. Later, however, I saw and heard Sen. Obama lie with my own eyes. I witnessed Republican-like tactics. The final straw for me was when he and his supporters refused to allow Michigan and Florida a revote. He reminds me too much of George W. Bush, and I can't stand GWBush. Needless to say, it's Hillary or the highway for this voter. Hillary '08.

Be nice? Please...that's about as low-handed as his "sweetie" and "bitter" remarks. A true leader would have praised the Senator for her strength and her dedication to this country. A true leader would have also praised her supporters for their dedication even in the face of huge odds. A true leader he is not. Just a guy who knows how to read a speech and has taken the consumer approach to winning votes. Crowds don't equate sound judgment. Crowds waved on Hitler. (I'm not saying Obama is Hitler, Obamabots, so chill). Crowds gather to see Paris Hilton. Crowds don't pay attention to what really happens in elections. It takes individuals to do research, to truly understand a candidate and her/his positions. I wonder how many in the crowd know of Barack's support of the Bush/Cheney's Energy Bill that has stripped Oregonians of their rights of self-determination when it comes to liquified natural gas and nuclear power plants. Great for the environment. Great for state's rights. What a Great Leader.

Linda, fine - you go right ahead and vote for McCain if that's what you really want to do. But it seems a little strange to do that if you're a Hillary supporter, considering that she's likely to have an important role in any Democratic administration. A matter of cutting off your nose to spite your face perhaps?
Posted by: mjo1 | May 18, 2008 9:45 PM
I think Obama and his supporters are in for a big shock. You don't get it. Many Clinton supporters have never thought he was qualified, so do not plan on voting for him.
Posted by: greenfun | May 18, 2008 9:42 PM
Millions of American's will vote for experience not oratory skills. Most of the posts think McCain is the only alternate candidate. If Hillary is not the nominee I will be looking at McCain, Paul, Barr and other third party candidates expected to announce.
Clinton supporters have others to choose from other than McCain and I guarantee you they will. Obama just will NOT get our votes.
The problem we have had for the last 8 years is the Republican controlled Congress 'were Party loyal' no matter what. Bush said it or did it, they fell in line like good little party loyalists. I refuse to be 'Party loyal' to the detriment of our Country by buying into this 'Democrats Unite' Bull****. Voters elect a QUALIFIED EXPERIENCED candidate no matter what party.

Popular vote estimates:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/democratic_vote_count.html
Posted by: mjo1 | May 18, 2008 9:38 PM
"Clinton supporters are more about the will of the people. She's ahead in the popular vote. You can take away our MI and FL delegates, but you can't take away our votes. And by June 1st, she'll have more of the popular vote than Obama without MI and FL.
Well, actually, you're not. I'm a citizen of Michigan, and if anyone is disenfranchising us it is Hillary. Had she removed her name from the ballot as every other candidate did we probably could have had a revote.
I know a lot of democrats here in Michigan. Some have been Obama supporters, some were Clinton supporters. All will support the democratic nominee regardless of who they are. None that I know of feel that our votes should be counted. Everyone knew what it was about and most didn't go to the polls.
Take a look at the turnout in MI and FL compared to past races and compare that to the exponential increase in turnout in states that counted and try to continue to make your argument.
Posted by: duh | May 18, 2008 9:35 PM
Well actually by most estimates she's *not* ahead in the popular vote, even if you count Michigan and Florida. Where did you get that from?
And how can Florida and Michigan count anyway, if Obama wasn't on the ballot in Michigan, and neither candidate campaigned in either state. Even Hillary said at the time that the results wouldn't count. So how can they count now?

Perhaps, they are Republicans in Democrat clothing posting here, but I'm sure there are some Clinton supporters out there, who feel that they were robbed of a presidency.
Regardless of where you stand, I hope, we all step back and look at the issues that are important to us and who will best serve as President.
[ I find it troubling, that a number of supporters for Hillary only cared about having a woman as President; If not Hillary, then they will vote for McCain, whose ideas differ so drastically from Clinton and Obama's. There's no doubt, we will have a female President someday; We're certainly overdue... assuming our country were to survive a McCain Presidency... ]

To Kalli and EsmereldaB
I cannot believe the bitterness and insanity that you display.
You and people like you are the reason that we are in this big mess with the economy, gas prices and a never ending war that your precious nominee Hillary voted for.
The fact that you are stating you would vote for McCain instead of Obama because Hillary lost fair and square is well, childish.
Vote for McCane and will see 100 more years of this war go on, a continued dwindling economy (since McCane has no clue) and gas prices soar to $10.
Tell your story to the countless mother's who lost thier son's and daughter in this ridiculous war that McCane refuses to end.
If this happens then Kalli, Esmereldab and others like you will be to blame.

It is sad to see that as much as Obama has been shown to be an empty suit, people in Oregon (75,000) flock to listen to this "flim Flam Man"
Posted by: volunteer | May 18, 2008 9:21 PM
I find it interesting that while the supposed democratic clingon supporters who say they'll never vote obama manage to disagree with:
100 female super delegates and counting
More democratic governors
More democratic senators
More democratic representitives
you know, along with more states, more delegates, more popular vote that counts. Keep your imaginary metrics close, maybe they'll keep you warm.
I said long ago I am not talking to sensible democrats who have supported hillary. She fought a great fight but underestimated her opponent. there just aren't do-overs, so here we are.
I will, however, ridicule those who advance specious arguments to hide some secret agenda because, well, it's fun and easy and I'm a bit bored tonight.
Hey, I didn't bring up the pies, I just transported it from the link that was posted to HRC's own forum. If the analology fits...

As I said, don't try and place your words in my mouth. I don't play games. You want to make me into something I have not been, then go right ahead and have fun feeling you can turn the tables and get away with sounding pious and righteous and I am the mean and nasty Hillary supporter. Like I said, you are welcome to have all the fun you want at my expense. At this point I could care less what mind games you want to play with me.

Scorber, then I suppose Obama can't win in your book. If he says "be nice" he's obnoxious. If he had said "don't be nice" then he's be worse than obnoxious? This sort of toxicity displayed by some Hillary supporters simply won't help the party in November. Unless you're really a Republican. You wouldn't be one of those, would you?

I am sorry but I am not going to discuss further anything with a person who will not listen and consider the content of what is offered . You are welcome to live in your world with your ideas that almost 17,000,000 people who have voted for Hillary are expendable and that you can win the Presidency for Obama by considering them, as some appear to, as subhumans who need to be ridiculed and demeaned as racists because they haven't seen the light and if you hammer them enough with insults they will eventually fall into line. Enjoy your time and as I stated, I will look forward to see how you are going to win him the Presidency with half the party who voted for her for whatever reason, to be no longer cosnidered "democrats".
Posted by: Patty | May 18, 2008 9:14 PM
Patty, you said "When the condescension and name calling stops coming in my direction, fine."
Be the change you want to see.
Posted by: drossless | May 18, 2008 9:14 PM
To EsmareldaB and Kalli, and to all those who doubt that this race is over, just settle down and soberly look at the facts. Obama is ahead in every category, the superdelegates are moving his way, even Hillary's supporters aren't turning up to caucus for her anymore (as in Nevada). the few contests left aren't going to change anything. Everything is pointing to an Obama win.
My point is that if you truly believe in health care reform, getting out of Iraq, a fairer society, you know, all those things Hillary says she's in favor of, then you shouldn't put too much energy in attacking Obama's candidacy, because he's going to be the nominee.
Face it, the race is over. Hillary knows it, the superdelegates know it, heck even the media have it right finally. Anybody who has an ounce of sense knows it.
Posted by: mjo1 | May 18, 2008 9:13 PM
I see. So he's declaring victory even though he doesn't have enough pledged delegates and he's now encouraging "being nice to Clinton supporters."
This guy will never get my vote, period. His supporters are incredibly obnoxious, and so is he.
He has shown no leadership on anything in his lifetime, including getting his supporters -- till now -- to "be nice."
He has some of the crassest group of supporters I've seen anywhere, and I guess now he's "exercising leadership." Not.
Posted by: scorber | May 18, 2008 9:10 PM
Franky, I agree.
If you don't mind a neighbour sticking his nose into your politics: please focus on removing the criminal regime.
Surely a chunk of these antagonistic democrats are just Republican agents provocateur? If not, it's alarming! Democrats, please, snap out of it.

Jenn:
Thanks for the link. It goes to further demonstrate that the Obama campaign has one set of rules for others and a different set for themselves. Jackson-Lee is booed for not following the "new Obama rules" of superdelegates must vote as their constituents do, at the same time Obama is lavishing praise and accepting the support of Kerry, Kennedy, Richardson and the Governor of Oklahoma etc. whose states all went for Hillary.
Posted by: Patty | May 18, 2008 8:33 PM
Patty...I should have clarified. The rabid zombies who are supporting these specious arguments, like counting votes that were agreed not to count and claiming that BO gave hillary the finger and on and on and on are not democrats first. There aint 17,000,000 of you. I doubt there are 17,000, but enjoy the pitty party you all are throwing. I doubt you outnumber those who turned out for Obama in Oregon.
There were the Regan Democrats and now there's the Hillary democrats. The only difference is one group got their candidate to the presidency and the other will be trading pie recipes on HRC's website until she can't afford to keep it up anymore.
Keep up the entertainment. There's nothing on tv right now.

We don't have to like Barack Obama, his campaign tricks, or his arrogance. The fact that he considers himself the baddest that ever lived doesn't make him so. But now we have to move ahead, take back our country and demand that our president is accountable to the people. If Barack Obama can't get us out of Iraq and improve the domestic situation in this country, then we need to make him eat crow.

I agree that woman of the Democratic Party will not go quietly. We will vote for Hillary Clinton and we will use our economic pow

I am thoroughly saddened by the mean-spirited comments by Obama supporters everywhere. I now feel that Hillary Clinton was America's final hope for humanity. I feel strongly that I, as a life-long Democrat ( I am 59) can no longer back the party in it's choices. I urge Hillary Clinton to break with the Democratic party and run as an Independent or to throw her support behind John McCain. Anything but support the Obama mistake. I find myself having to choose between leaving the Democratic party completely or not voting. I cannot allow Obama to be electedif my single vote has a chance to keep him out of office.
