Hillary Rodham Clinton

Clinton Urged to Consider VP Slot

Updated 6:57 p.m.
By Jonathan Weisman
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, speaking on a conference call with the New York House delegation, hinted that she would be open to serving as vice presidential nominee with Barack Obama, participants said.

On a 2 p.m. call, several New York Democrats suggested she seek the position. Rep. Nydia M. Velazquez (D-N.Y.) said she implored Clinton to think about the passionate support her candidacy has received from Latino voters, who would be crucial to Democratic chances in November.

"She said if she was asked, she would consider it," Velazquez related in an interview. "She said, 'Look, I will do whatever it takes to defeat McCain in November.'"

Participants said the conference call was emotional and extraordinary. Clinton said she would not concede the nomination tonight, that she had "earned the right" to take some time off and reflect on her future. She marveled that 18 million Americans had been moved to vote for her, and she graciously added that a similar number had voted for her opponent.

Clinton started the call with a defiant tone, dismissing press reports that she would withdraw tonight as totally untrue, then trumpeting the depth of support for her candidacy. One participants said she appeared ready to delcare she would "soldier on" to the convention.

"Then it turned on a dime," he said.

Velazquez's question about the vice presidency changed the tone immediately. Clinton may have been somewhat circumspect, but the congressmen were resolute and enthusiastic. They wanted her on the ticket.

"She sounded practical about it, but I will tell you the people on the phone call were enthusiastic," the lawmaker said. "I was more excited after the phone call than I was before the phone call."

About a dozen New York House Democrats joined the call, and many expressed concern that Latino voters, women and blue collar voters might not rally around an Obama candidacy. Their solution: Join the ticket.

"You can't dismiss the support and the strong feelings about Hillary Clinton among women, among Latinos, among blue collar workers," Velazquez said. "For anyone who has their eyes on the prize, this has to be a consideration. And as a good Democrat who wants her party to succeed in November, she's got to keep all her options open."

The Clinton campaign largely confirmed the account, although campaign aides appeared to dismiss its significance: "Today on a conference call with New York legislators, Senator Clinton was asked whether she was open to the idea of running as Vice-President and repeated what she has said before: she would do whatever she could to ensure that Democrats take the White House back and defeat John McCain," the campaign said in a statement.

In this week's Pew poll, 53 percent of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents said they'd like to see Obama pick Clinton has his VP. More than three-quarters of her supporters and nearly four in 10 of his thought she would be the right choice. (The percentage of Obama voters who want Clinton as No. 2 dipped 12 points from a March Pew poll.)

When asked open-ended questions about the matter in mid-May (a higher bar), 39 percent said they'd like Clinton, 10 percent said Edwards and 36 percent expressed no opinion.

100% agreement, Chuckamok, re the way in which Hillary and her followers savaged the women who were Bill's victims. Like you, I have been baffled as to how "feminists" can be so openly misogynistic. I am convinced that Hillary Clinton's campaign has set back for at least a generation, and perhaps longer, any genuinely feminist movement, by which I mean, any movement that embraces the welfare of ALL women, regardless of class or race.

"But, surely this post from jacksmith is a joke - a parody?"

You may very well be right. But I've read so many comments from Hillary-heads, and they ALL could be taken that way.

I NEVER get an explanation, for instance, as to why Hillary, who led the attack squad that slimed Elizabeth Ward Gracen, Sally Perdue, Gennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey, Monica Lewinsky, and Juanita Broaddrick - ANY woman who dared to expose the sexual predations of BubbaZipper - could be seen as pro-woman, even a HERO for women's rights.

Such pigheaded stupidity seems to be in abundance among the sheep who support the Clinton Machine.

Posted by: Chuckamok | June 4, 2008 9:56 PM

Dear Chuckamok, you are of course correct re the Clintons.

But, surely this post from jacksmith is a joke - a parody? It reads like a pastiche of Hillary's own speeches, a send-up of her obtuse narcissism.

If jacksmith actually is a sincere Clinton supporter, he is duplicating his Leader's contempt for the intelligence of American voters.

"Hillary Clinton fought her heart out against all odds"

Against all odds? Yeah, right. ;)

The face plant of The Relentless Ambition Circus IS stunning, one for the record books.

The Smartest Woman in the World blew a sure thing, a slam dunk, a no brainer.

Stunning was the combination of hubris, arrogance, that bilious sense of entitlement, endless lying, hamfisted pandering, that hokey fake southern drawl, race baiting, and, of course, the magenta-faced BubbaZipper bumbling his way across the American landscape.

A rookie raced out of left field and beat the ponderous, lumbering Clinton Machine at its own game.

It was indeed ... stunning.

Posted by: Chuckamok | June 4, 2008 7:14 PM

Hillary Clinton is STUNNING!!!

You have just witnessed the greatest political campaign fight in American history. One for the textbooks, and the history books. Hillary Clinton fought her heart out against all odds to win for all of the American people . While at the same time doing her best to prepare Sen. Barack Obama to win in November if he was the nominee. STUNNING!!! WELL DONE HILLARY CLINTON. WELL DONE! Your AMAZING! :-)

Sen. Obama could not have had a better opponent than Hillary Clinton. Nor could he have had a better opponent to prepare him for the battle royal to come against John McCain and the Republicans ahead of the November elections. Hillary Clinton was like a big Mama cat determined to teach her kitten how to hunt, and hang with the big dogs for the fights ahead.

And how about Bill Clinton, Chelsea, and th whole Clinton team. They were magnificent. They really showed their metal. BRAVO! TEAM CLINTON... BRAVO!

And how about YOU! my fellow Americans. I'm so proud of you. And proud to be one of you. You showed what you are made of. And what makes America so great. You never gave up on your Champion Hillary Clinton. Time, and time again you eagerly waited your turn to vote for Hillary Clinton. To pick her up and pass her along down the line to the rest of your fellow Americans.

You never gave up on her. Just as Hillary Clinton never gave up on you. No matter how many times they counted her out. No matter how many times they brutally knocked her down. You knew she would get back up. And you were ready to support her when she did. AMERICA LOVES A FIGHTER. AMERICA UNDERSTANDS A FIGHTER. AMERICA IS A FIGHTER. I'M PROUD OF YOU AMERICA!

Hillary said she would accept the VP spot on the ticket if ask. And I am thrilled to hear that. I think it would be crazy not to take her up on that offer. You could not have a better VP than Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton is Sen. Obama's best chance of winning the Whitehouse in November. And it is essential that the democrats take back the Whitehouse.

The American people are in a very desperate condition now. George Bush has wrecked America, and much of the world.

YOU MADE US VERY PROUD HILLARY CLINTON! :-)

WE LOVE YOU...

jacksmith... Working Class :-)

p.s. I really liked Sen. Barack Obama's speech in Minnesota. I think he just maybe ready now for the Bush Republican attack machine, dirty tricks, and vote fraud machine. :-)

Quote: "I know the obvious attraction and support for Hillary from women. What is the Latino connection. I just moved to Texas in 2006 (from West Virginia)and haven't yet figured why Ms.Clinton, in particular, has such a presumed support from Latinos."

Welcome to Texas where you see the bumper sticker "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as soon as I could". Part of the reason is her husbands signing and support of NAFTA, that helped Mexico and Latin countries.
Part is that they don't know for whom they are voting, as the exit polls show in Puerto Rico. Some said they thought they were voting for Bill Clinton.

Posted by: Anonymous | June 4, 2008 10:40 AM

I find it sad that so few people seem to take the trouble to review history to see if it is wise for Clinton to withdraw. Consider this: A while back, a guy named Gary Hart looked like the Democratic nomination was his. Then he got caught in an extramarital affair and had to withdraw from the race. Obama is not the Democratic candidate until he is declared as the candidate at the nominating convention. Keeping her options open is not a bad thing, its a prudent thing.

Playing coy puts pressure on the Obama camp to make concession to her on what will be conceded to her as part of ther vice presidential duties. Lyndon Johnson once said that the Vice Presidency is not worth as much as a bucket of warm spit. Making a better deal before going in is not an imprudent thing.

Posted by: jcoates1 | June 4, 2008 10:27 AM

If Hillary doesn't get the democratic nomination, she should run as an independent candidate. She certainly has the votes.

WICKED stuff, there, G.

Such rapier wit. You must be quite impressed with yourself, ey?

Posted by: Chuckamok | June 4, 2008 7:54 AM

Don't think Obama can deal with the militancy of the Clinton supporters that are going to give her the royal treatment as if she was running for president. It would dilute his message. I think a strong Hispanic Veepee could just as well sew up the election. I am sure they are polling away as I write this.

The 'I won't make up my mind tonite' statement after clearly losing the nomination should be a warning sign. If she would have outright endorsed him, I'd think differently but she once again showed her sense of entitlement.

So winning graciously doesn't apply because you're unhappy with who won the Democratic primary? What a wonderful world you must live in, ignoring the losers and miscreants of the opposition that you are a part of, now, after tonight.

It must be refreshing to newly and firmly hate someone, I haven't tried this tactic since, um, third grade or so. But of course, if this mind set brings the Relentless Ambition Circus to town I must give it a try, so as to release my relentless ambition to be as aware as yourself.

Felons? Why such a serious charge? Are you worried that you might have to move from your trailer park because gas cost too much to drive to the 7-11 for beer? Cough it up and prosecute if you can back up this ridiculous statement, otherwise sit down!

"The only way I will ever vote for a ticket that has his name on it is if Hillary is an equal partner."

Do you mean like "domestic partners," because that's the only "equal partership" I'm aware of, outside of business forms that is. Unless you're gay, wherein the concept of equal partner is excluded.

"I will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever vote for him. I will only vote for an "obama" ticket if Hillary is on it! "

So, which is it -- never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever vote for him, or that you will only vote for him if Hillary is on it. Make up your mind, believe in your convictions, you make a waffle look flat.

Posted by: G | June 4, 2008 5:50 AM

Obama is a weasel. A political weasel.

The only way I will ever vote for a ticket that has his name on it is if Hillary is an equal partner.

Obama has the nomination and all you hear on the t.v. is boo-hoo everyone is a racist. What? He is still playing the crying game?

My God, he is not even a gracious "winner".

I will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever vote for him.

I will only vote for an "obama" ticket if Hillary is on it!

Does anyone out there get that? If you don't then you will in the General because I am not alone!!!!!!!!!!

Who "urged" her? Maybe it was her ID, maybe her ego, maybe Bill or Chelsea. Most likely it was any anonymous mirror, possibly the dark windows in the surveillance vehicles that tend to follow her around.

Who knows? She knows, and she's not telling right now.

Let's see -- from First Lady to carpetbagger, then thrust on the stage of protecting the "disenfranchised" white voters of Florida and Michigan. What a stretch! My mind reels from the newly discovered injustice heaped on white voters in this country over the centuries.

But it's the media, don't you know? While crocodile tears stream down my face I must remember that this is the very media that was allowed to consolidate to the point of redundancy in the years of your Senate tenure.

But hey, wasn't it Colin Powell's son (another black man) who presided over the FCC on your watch in the Senate; creating the oligarchy that you and your husband now condemn?

Sleep in your bed, it's been made for many years.

I saw someone talking about JFK's Presidential campaign recently--although it may have been his campaign for the nomination rather than the general election--and he said that JFK spent a great deal of time campaigning in W. Virgina and Appalachia and that initially there was a great deal of distrust in the region b/c of Kennedy's Catholicism but that he really turned it around. Sounds exactly like what you're saying about people giving him a chance when they got to know him.

I'm glad you're going to vote for Obama, too. One of my friends is working on his campaign and says he is as genuine and decent as he appears.

Posted by: cg | June 3, 2008 11:36 PM

Clinton regularly said that John McCain would be a better president than Obama. She should campaign McCain to be his VP. But Obama's ? No. She has no place being a VP to someone she doesn't believe in.

Millions of Americans supported Obama just to keep Hillary and Bill out of the White House. Why would they ever want to have her there as Obamas' VP ?
But you go girl and if that big eared clown is foolish enough to have you as his VP then it will be the reason why the Dems will not be in the White House in 09.

Jason you forgot Cory Aquino.

Yeah Barack is so inexperienced that he came from behind against an automatic selection of Hillary and completely out-campaigned her. Sometimes experience is only a lifetime of bad habits- it does not necessarily equal greater competence. I am sure we can all think of less experienced operators being more competent than more experienced people in many fields.

"Hillary for VP?
No way. All of the republicans and half the democrats can't stand her."

Much as that might seem the case from these blogs, polls show that most Democrats like both Hillary and Obama. That's just a fact.

We'd all like to keep our ideological purity, but this is the real world, and it's very hard to argue that having Hillary on the ticket would lose more votes than it gained.

Somebody said that the nominee gets to pick the VP, and that's true, of course, but Hillary did have a second-place finish so much stronger than any in history that I believe she's earned a little extra consideration.

Many Obama supporters (I am one) believe that most of the Hillary supporters' threats to vote McCain come from a tiny minority, some of whom are Republicans in drag. Most Hillary supporters - though not all - will vote for Obama when the time comes, whoever's VP.

But the flip side of that is that Obama supporters who threaten to abandon the ticket if Hillary's on it are also a small minority dealing empty threats.

Having Hillary on the ticket may annoy many Obama supporters, but very few will be so annoyed they don't vote for the ticket over McCain.

Get ready to live with the idea of Hillary as Veep. Don't forget, the Obama campaign is supposed to be unifying and inclusive.

Hillary has run a republican campaign on another democrat who refused to use those same tactics on her. Besides being an african american female living in rural georgia, it is not guarantee that she will bring those "working americans...hard working white americans" to the ticket. Living in a rural area, those same people have told me that the only reason that they voted for Hillary because they wanted to eliminate Obama as a potential democratic nominee. In the general election, if Hillary were the nominee, they plan to vote for McCain. As for women voters, I believe that this country is ready for woman president, just not Hillary Clinton. She has to much baggage for someone to say that the only reason that she has lost the primary was because of sexism. She lost because she mismanaged her campaign. Obviously, all of her excellent judgement and years of experience did not help her. She has pointedly proven that experience is not the only qualifications for a job. Obama with his so-called little experience pointedly proved that you can do the job and possess good judgement even without all those years of experience. He has proven himself tremendously throughout this campaign. Sorry, no Clinton supporter can convince me that she can run the country better with all of her experience over Obama's better managed campaign with less experience. Hopefully, Obama will continue to show good judgement and not let Hillary Clinton bully herself onto the ticket.

The idea that Clinton supporters will still fall in line if she is not VP is nonsense - indeed many will still stay home in reaction to the treatment of her by Obama and the DNC. Yes a few GOP crossovers will be lost if she's on ticket, and a few Obama supporters that were never really Obama supporters - just Hillary haters - will walk. But she brings back the vast majority of over 17 million voters and the proven ability to get votes from groups that Obama has a problem with - if that is not balancing a ticket I do not know what is. The polls show that her addition moves states to Obama and that no other name does - Obama needs her more than she needs him. However, it is fun to watch the Hillary haters in the Obama camp talk "unity" and forget how Democrats walk when we feel dis'ed as shown in 68/72/and 80. Perhaps Obama is not man enough to go against his supporters (or his wife?) and run with Hillary. Perhaps he is not man enough to be a strong president if there is a strong VP named Hillary. Hillary as VP is the ONLY way the Obama camp can show a love of unity - it will be interested to see if Obama is man enough to lead a unified party - or is he only good in front of his fan club as he begs for non-Democratic Party folks' votes?

"Putting Hillary Clinton on the ticket for vice president creates a ménage-à-trois. Bill will be the unexpected roommate. Even if a President Obama can discipline Hillary and get her to play second fiddle, there is not the remotest chance that he can get the former president to accept such rules. Even if Bill Clinton wanted to rein in his newly prolific public expressions of rage and frustration, there is doubt that he is any longer capable of doing so." - Dick Morris

Morris probably has a deeper insight than most into the pathological swamp between BubbaJeff's ears.

Having Hillary on board should scare the hell out of Obama. But having magenta-faced Bubba careening across the deck would be a living nightmare.

No more Clintons. Ever.

"The Party needs to be rescued from the Clintons, not just for its own good, but for the good of the country."

Both Clintons are felons. The last thing Obama needs is BubbaZipper lurking in the hallways in his overcoat, on the lookout for interns.

I nominate Obama for Mt. Rushmore, for making a second Billary infestation of the White House impossible.

Posted by: Chuckamok | June 3, 2008 8:49 PM

During the 2008 primary campaigns, however, I reluctantly came to recognize that Hillary is the Clinton with the graver character flaws: I now regard her as a corrupt, lying, power-mad demagogue.

The Party needs to be rescued from the Clintons, not just for its own good, but for the good of the country.

If Obama selects Hillary as his VP, I will vote Republican for the first time in my life.

Posted by: Pat S | June 3, 2008 8:33 PM

My gut level assessment of the Clintons has always been: he's weak but she's evil. And I think that at least that basic outline became clear to anyone with an open mind over the past six months. And don't worry--she will NOT be on the ticket. No Way. No How.

Posted by: Anonymous | June 3, 2008 8:41 PM

Go feminists, go. As you vote for McCain remember not only Roe v Wade (because it is never about a single issue), but also:

*lower wages for the same work
*high taxes for single Moms and other middle class families
*your sons drafted and dying in Iraq, because this country cannot continue to fight two wars on two fronts with a volunteer army stretched to the hilt with redeployments (remember Napolean?)
*ever more elusive access to health care because you cannot afford it
*more tax breaks for the rich
*the list is endless...

You will reap what you vote for or don't vote for. I wish you and our country good luck because with American's like you we will need it. (I've always admired pettiness over patriotism and intellect.)

Your graciousness regarding Obama's win is overwhelming and heart warming. (NOT!)

All these posts really don't mean all that much.
When it comes down to it Obama and his campaign will not and should not offer Hillary the VP slot.
She is a strong person and will run over him,,,be it on purpose(most likely) or just because she is strong willed.
This issue will be danced around until it is annouced that Obama picked someone else.
Hillary and Barack simple are oil and water. They could never work together and they dont want to work together. They would be at each others throats in private so much that this country would suffer.
Obama would be more likely to chose Edwards/Richardson/Reid or an as yet unknown VP candidate. By saying he is not asking VP's he is dancing around the Clinton option and by saying she would consider it she is dancing around the fact it hasnt been offered.
So all our comments and nasty remarks or rude remarks don't amount to a hill of beans.
Only thing anyone can do is make their best informed decision come November. Race/Gender/Age/Party Affiliation/Military Experiance should not be a decision maker.

TYPICAL. And completely DISINGENUOUS LIKE SHE ALWAYS IS.

Hillary stands more for dynastic rule rather than any feminist standard bearer.

Same goes for most of female leaders around the world.

Indira Gandhi - Daughter of Nehru
Benazir Bhutto - Daughter of Bhutto
SriLanka - same
Argentina - wife of ex-President
Bangladesh - same (one widow against another).

Two female leaders standout in the world as true victory for feminist cause.

1. Margaret Thatcher
2. Angela Merkel (Whose shoulders Bush was trying to massage a few months ago)

France came close but the lady lost out.

Now lets see what Hillary claims.

1. First lady of Arkansas
2. First lady of US
3. Ready from day one (based on the experience of being married to the guy).

Will it really be a victory for feminism in US. Is this kind of victory really what feminists want ?

She lost not because of sexism but because of horrible mismanagement of the campaign - the one thing that give us all a preview of her management style (besides her handling of universal health care). Sexism is certainly a factor just like being black or from south or whatever is a factor.

Her run however will stand as a milestone for feminist cause in US. Because of it no one in US will ever seriously question if any woman can run or govern.

I see very vocal tiny shiver of female supporters of hers voicing disapproval and threatening deflection to McCain. (Really !?! and that helps your candidate how ? If Obama looses you folks serious think all Obama supporters will line up for Hillary in 2012 ?)

Their slogan is Sexism/Feminism. By and large all Hillary supporters I know (my wife included) seem to be fine, moved on.

There is an interesting article here.

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/6/2/183142/3699/191/527650

Media always loves a good story and will do everything to keep it alive. They highlight this minority as hanger bearer of division.

Sure there is disappointment but I doubt if is on the rabid scale a few posters here seem to indicate.

I honestly think, for this fraction, if not sexism they will be screaming some other excuse.

Its in American DNA to stand for individualism vs. Dynastic inheritance of power.

By an large most women know this subconsciously.

I really do not think its cause of concern. If Obama looses he will loose because of his faults. The challenges are known and their is time to work hard.

God help us all.

This stuff about experience is nonsense. The least experienced of the three, Barack Obama could see through the pro-war propaganda. The correct decision when you get a 3 am phone call is what matters- not how old you are when you make the decision.
Obama spoke up against the war in Chicago on Oct 11, 2002 when it was difficult and unpopular to do so. The new book from inside the White House illustrates the shenanigans that went on to push us into a phony war. Obama is the more patriotic of the 3 contenders because he opposed wasting American lives on an unjustified war. I will go for the candidate who is in no way responsible for killing 4,000 of my fellow Americans, who died for no good reason whatsoever. True patriotism is having the guts to do what Obama did instead of caving in to Bush's idiocy for personal political expedience.
Far from Obama being ageist, it is McCain that is discriminating on the basis of age, forever harping on about Obama's "inexperience".

I hope McCain turns back the strides in equal rights for women--as he has promised to do--for all I care.

I could care less that McCain laughed hysterically on camera when someone called Hillary a bit*h or that he has said Chelsea Clinton is so ugly because Janet Reno is her father. How telling. Sen. Hillary Clinton could not even be gracious on the night the Democratic primary race comes to a close and she is not the winner. As usual, the night has to be about her instead of the party or the American people (ref her VP comments).

No one is fooled that she was merely answering a question. The question was clearly planted by her and her supporters to spoil the night for the Democrats.

Sen Clinton could well be determining her own political demise by her self-centered actions cloaked in party unity. One thing, if she is perceived as causing Sen Obama's defeat or as trying to blackmail Sen Obama,
she will never win another national election as a Democrat.

The Clintons, who I loved when they battled the Reaganauts in the 90's, were willing to burn the Democratic house to the ground to win the nomination. They would have lost in November, because many would have left the party in November( i.e the young white, black, brown and blacks wholesale) and never come back. This contest is not racial, but generational. Barack is the Bill Clinton who could not win in '92; Bill and Hilary Clinton cannot see it because they have been in power too long. Bill Clinton once said he would not see a black president in his lifetime. Barack is not afraid to run; he is not afraid to lose. He already defines the coming generation.

I am sure that come November if I don't vote Obama I will once again be accused of racism. Obama would be LUCKY if Hillary agrees to be on the ticket. She brings experience, intelligence and a lot of women supporters. Otherwise, he may not win.

Clinton supporters have posted that they would not support Obama even if Hillary were on the ticket. They have done so numerous times, including in this very thread. If she could bring along her supporters, Obama would probably name her as his running mate. But there is no indication she can add more than voters than the number of Hillary-haters he would lose. Then, too, Obama needs a running mate who will be a second fiddle, and Hillary has never been that. According to Vanity Fair, she refused to play second fiddle to VP Al Gore when they were in the White House.

The headline of this article states that Hillary is being "urged to accept" the VP post. This is clearly untrue. The article says nothing about that. So who exactly "urges" her? Instead the article clearly states that Madame would be graciously prepared to accept the post just in case somebody should decide to offer it to her, but so far no offers.

I am a feminist, and there is no way I will support Obama. I would rather see the feminist movement die than see Obama become president. I was really hurt that Clinton did not get the nomination. Now McCain gets my vote. I could care less that Obama is a champion of women's rights with a 100% rating from NARAL. I hope McCain turns back the strides in equal rights for women--as he has promised to do--for all I care.

I could care less that McCain laughed hysterically on camera when someone called Hillary a bit*h or that he has said Chelsea Clinton is so ugly because Janet Reno is her father. My bruised feelings are of primary importance to me and the ONLY thing that matters is ME. Until the Democratic Party BLINDLY rubber stamps all female Democratic candidates for President--no matter what rules they break or how often they lie, cheat, steal, race bait and assassination dream--This is what they get!

We will promise to swing the election but--just like the paltry few who showed up to demonstrate for Hillary's 'suffrage movement'--we won't make any difference whatsoever in preventing President Obama's victory.

As he expressed in a speech Senator Obama would sign into law a new AMNESTY. We as the American people must realize it's our last chance to demand the Democrats endorse the Federal SAVE ACT (H.R. 4088) Leading Democrats are using threats of estrangement from campaign contributions, against any of party members who co-author the law. This enforcement bill would no longer allow parasite employers, to escape prison. Be aware hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens are fleeing states that have enacted their own legislation. The SAVE ACT is the iron gauntlet, that encompasses all state law, and guarantees extra funding to (ICE)

The exodus proves these laws are working? A federal law clarifies that illegal families will leave this nation of their own accord. America cannot afford Barack Obama, Mrs Clinton or John McCain passing another AMNESTY.

How pathetic is it that the Democrats realize they're nominating a candidate who can't win in November and they have to beg the one who can win to take the VP slot because they know their boy doesn't have a chance without her.

Say "NO!" Hillary. The party has treated you like dirt. They need you more than you need them. Don't do it!!!

Dear Hmmm,

the only time I've ever heard a Democrat say that the Republican opponent was better suited to lead than the person of her own party.

Sadley experiance wise McCain is better qualified than Obama.
Some times I guess it would be compared to chosing the lesser of 2 evils? maybe maybe not. Or better the devil you know than the one you don't? I have heard both those sayings over the years from many older voters and relatives. So when it comes to November the choices will be.

McCain = >

Obama = >

I am in no way saying I'm correct but some will look at November in that light.

She couldn't be less interested in what is best for the Democratic party. It's her. Period. She is ramming it down Obama's throat. She won't even acknowledge that he has won. This is not uniting the party, it is destroying it. Hillary could have run a positive campaign. She did not. Again and again she had that choice. She did not take it. She has that choice tonight. She will not take it.

For her to be rewarded for this race baiting, gender bending, any means whatsoever justifies the end is despicable. It's horrific. It's like rewarding Bush and Rove for McCain's black baby. It's like saying yes in neon letters to all the nastiness and low ball calculations that Clinton put into her 3 o'clock fear mongering strategy, her cocaine surrogates, her incessant focus on Wright, her insistence that the only thing that counts is electing a woman, breaking a glass ceiling, her "Barac is not a Muslim,... that I know of". Her campaign has been 99 percent negative, 100 percent Republican. It's the only time I've ever heard a Democrat say that the Republican opponent was better suited to lead than the person of her own party.

It would be better to loose every vote in the US than to put her on the ticket.

I don't want Clinton on the ticket. After this primary I have no reason to vote for Obama and I don't want my decision clouded by having her on the ticket. All the commentators on MSNBC and CNN have heaped their praise on Obama and his team as being so smart and so out in front....and they didn't want Clinton earlier so it's the big time now so let's see how they do without Clinton.

I can Totally see Sebelius! Honestly, thinking about the issues, this would be some form of history with these two. However, with everything that has taken place with these two, it is very Hard for me to see how that will work. Furthermore, I would question if it were worth it for those who threat to vote McCain. What would be the outcome of Hillary as VP. I want to say it would be worth it for the rest who share common views on the issues, apart from the rest out of protest in these highly important times. The Republicans, the Independents, all of the other potential picks....if Obama is the nominee, he will have a lot to consider. I believe the Dem can take on McCain, but I believe that if he's going to do it, he'd be wise to choose in a form that will serve helpful and beneficial. I'll support any ticket as long as a Dem gets that White House this time. He can always assign significant positions. We have some credible talent here to choose from. I find it important to figure out the helpful strategic path, definitely.

Posted by: Obama2008 | June 3, 2008 7:38 PM

From the Democratic Party point of view and on the issues Hillary Clinton is closer to Barrack Obama, the DEmocratic Party will have a very strong showing and a high posssibility of a landslide win in November 2008 if HRC and BHO are paired as VP and President, personally they need not be soul-mate as long as the political issues unite them,a prime example was George Herbert Walker Bush being VP to Ronald Reagan in 1980 and GOP won big ! George HW Bush's voodoo economics attack on Ronald Reagan didn't hurt him as a selection for VP !Politics should be about the issues, personal likes and dislikes are just cultural issues,if they can HRC & BHO unite on a unified Democratic Party's platform that's what the DNC is for ultimately___win Elections for the Party. And Senator Hillary Clinton is good fighter and champion of the Democratic Party ! Barrack Obama might lose the November Elections if HIllary Clinton isn't on the ticket, its like a Mother and Son ticket for Pax Americana Libre !

Hillary, the ins and outs of politics is not one of my strong points, but if helping the Dems by running as an Independant, do it. Obama will not be voted in as President without you. In the long run the Democratic party and the Nation will suffer if he is in the White House.

Only Oprah will benefit. She will change and redecorate. She will remake the first lady and someone will give her a key to the front door. What a mess!

If and it's a big if Obama were to ever offer Hillary the VP postion she would be stupid to accept. She is a President material not VP/second fiddle material, again. Also if she were to ever accept it if Obama loses to McCain come November Obama supporters will put all the blame on her shoulders and not his. That being said this is politics people. Obama hasn't offered her the VP position and she hasn't accepted it....personally I think they are just dancing around the VP issue because they both know there is no way in hell they will every willing be on the same ticket. Yes publically she will have to support him.....just as he would have to support her. But in reality they would be slitting each others throats in a heartbeat. Some say that she has played dirty......well guess what it's Politics not Choir Practice. If anyone thinks Obama doesn't know how to play dirty your fooling yourselves. He did not get to where he is now without knowing the same tricks that ALL politicains know.

Karen, that is true...veterans benefits have gone pretty downhill.

It is, however, my belief that McCain's position on the new GI Bill is correct. We will lose all of our best NCOs; they will do their 4 years and jump ship to go to college. To get out, you should have to put in. I will be taking full advantage of my GI Bill benefits when I get out. Sure, it cost me 1,200 dollars. Worth every penny I think.

To Jane, who claims that she is a Hillary supporter but will vote for McCain over Obama:

As a true feminist, I would remind you and all those so-called feminists out there that John McCain would probably have to fill from one to three vacancies on the Supreme Court. He is not only against abortion, he is against birth control (Griswold v. Connecticut as a reference case). My question is this: are the feminists who are themselves beyond childbearing age willing to sacrifice the rights of younger women in this country because their chosen one wasn't picked for the nomination? I am fed up with this kind of threatening from the Clinton supporters ("If Obama gets the nomination, I'm staying home or voting for McCain"). When you make statements like that, you cannot possibly call yourself a feminist. I have been working for equality and reproductive rights since 1972 and I don't plan on stopping now. I owe it to ALL the women in this country. "Feminists", who are you really for? Please, remember the ladies....

Sorry Hillary fans, sometimes you need to accept defeat to retain your dignity. And didn't Obama already choose a Vice President and reject the notion to join with Hilary. Obama will loose too much for what he stood for if they joined, they are too different to join and there will be too much problems down the track. Obama will loose too many supporters if he makes her his Vice, Its e logical after all that conflict. Its typical a Clinton that doesn't want to accept defeat, she is too self centered and can't be s great president or leader.

Obama should avoid Hillary. She undermines his message of New Politics.

She knew she was crossing the line when she said working class whites will vote for her. It was a tasteless Clinton comment that lacked any subtleness.
Her campaign was ran poorly. She succeeded in lowering the standard of what a 'win' is. I would be glad to see the Clinton brand move on, but it seems that the older generations are comfortable keeping them around.

Her comments about
obliterating Iran
shows her NeoCon darkside.
Why doesn't she run with McCain?
