Clinton Insiders Take Umbrage at Solis Doyle Move
By Anne E. Kornblut
FLINT, Mich. -- The nomination fight is over, but the warring between the Obama and Clinton campaigns lives on.
The Obama team announced today that it had picked former Clinton campaign manager Patti Solis Doyle to serve on its general election staff. Fair enough: Solis Doyle is a native Chicagoan with deep ties to many senior Obama aides.
But Solis Doyle -- who after her firing midway through the primaries is no longer on speaking terms with much of the Clinton inner circle, including the senator herself -- has been tapped to serve as chief of staff to the future vice presidential running mate. Not exactly a signal that Obama is considering Hillary Clinton for the job.
At least that's how Clinton loyalists see it. "It's a slap in the face," Susie Tompkins Buell, a prominent Clinton backer, said in an interview. "Why would they put somebody that was so clearly ineffective in such a position? It's a message. We get it." She said it was a "calculated decision" by the Obama team to "send a message that she [Clinton] is not being considered for the ticket."
Other Clinton insiders also seethed. "Who can blame Obama for rewarding Patti? He would never be the nominee without her," one person who has worked for both Clintons and remains close to them said. The sentiment reflected what another person in the immediate Clinton orbit described as "shock" that Obama would send such a strong signal that he is not considering Clinton as his runningmate so soon.
Although she devoted her adult life to working for Clinton, Solis Doyle left the Clinton world surrounded by a cloud of acrimony, blamed by some close Clinton loyalists -- and reportedly Clinton herself -- for failing to keep the campaign in order heading into Iowa. After being yanked from her role, Solis Doyle had said she would travel with the campaign and remain on as an adviser, but Clinton effectively cut her off and she was not seen on the road again.

"Main reason those "Evil Corporations" ship jobs overseas is also tax related so increasing taxes on them also will raise prices on goods/services and/or reduce staff."
Bollocks to that. Notice how all those corporations that ship jobs overseas to get cheaper labor don't correspondingly reduce the cost of their goods? But the salaries and perks of their executives goes up correspondingly.

I would imagine quite a lot is beyond your comprehension.
Why are any Obama or Clinton supporters wasting their breath trying to argue how bad the other person is? All you want to hear, all you WILL hear, is information that supports your own point of view. You're boring. And an embarrassment to all Americans.

For those that believe Obama is not the typical phoney politician that will do anything to be elected, read this article: http://uspolitics.about.com/od/senators/a/barack_obama.htm
Obama is infamous for eliminating his competition before they become a threat by finding anything they can on the opponent to embarass or disqualify them (see CNN Special Report - Drew Griffin. As for his three accomplishments, one of which would be important to his run for presidency since the other two do not fall into a qualification or achievement that would make me want to vote for him. But even that achievement is compromised - U.S. Senate, as the article above will explain, he wins by default by disqualifying his opponents with every dirty trick in the book.

Patti Solis Doyle is the sister of Chicago 25th Ward Alderman Danny Solis, a powerful Daley ally, whose office is located 1 block from my house. As recently as last week a "Hillary" poster was plasterd on his office window, despite his appearance on local area news stating (or is it job begging?) that he and his sister would most definetly support Obama should Hillary bow out of the race. The Solis family has been harshly criticized for being rubber stamps for Daley's corrupt administration. They are consumate bottom feeders, supporting whomever can set them up with their next gig. Most disturbing is the fact that Obama's children have for years played soccer on the Soccer Association for Youth of Chicago, an athletic organization (YEAH, RIGHT!)run by no other than Danny Solis!!! AMERICA IS ABOUT TO BE HOODWINKED BIG TIME!!!!

Two words. Job Security. Why would someone back out of anything if they knew their job was on the line even if they knew they weren't qualified? This goes for all the general election staff and any other employees.
Obama is charming and a good speaker, plus if Oprah likes him how could we go wrong (yeah right!). He's just a guy that's trying to get a job. Americans would rather choose someone they know nothing about and stay hopeful in search of their miracle worker.

Three Obama accomplishments:
1) Getting into and graduating with honors from Columbia.
2) Getting into and graduating with honors from Harvard Law.
3) Getting elected to the US Senate.
You wanted three accomplishments and there they are.

(Re: "You cannot raise capital gains tax(rental property, stocks, 401k's) and Corporate taxes and expect the economy to grow. "
Yes, you can. I don't know why certain sectors of the population think they are exempt from paying their fair share of taxes.)
"fair share" is already 4+ times as much for the "Evil Rich" than middle America but it's never enough to Liberals in Congress because without excessive taxation and wealth distribution to people who earn less they lose control.
The majority of the "Evil Rich" are small business owners who if taxed more either raise prices on goods/services and/or reduces staff both of which affects the economy and us ALL.
Main reason those "Evil Corporations" ship jobs overseas is also tax related so increasing taxes on them also will raise prices on goods/services and/or reduce staff.
Corporations NEVER pay taxes. Any "tax" that is put on them is ALWAYS passed onto the consumer which increases inflation and lowers the value of the dollar.

McCain is nothing more that Obama/Hillary Light. Almost in the same context as a Light Beer... The Republicans finally did this year what Democrats have done for years, crossover and vote for the easiest candidate to beat from the other side. This election will truly be voting for "the lesser of two evils".

The whole story doesn't have anything with Clinton or her relations with Doyle. It has to do with Obama's management of people, which he needs to learn badly. No Clinton as vice? Perfectly ok.
But wait until you nominate one and only then hire his or her capaign manager and in accord with him or her. They need to make a good team, and a team is made on a clean mental ground. For that his decision is certainly worrying.

Re "I voted for Hillary and you know what? This election isn't about what's best for Hillary's career. It's about what is best for America. I'm not going to base my vote on how Hillary feels about Solis Doyle. Who cares!"
You obviously don't comprehend what I am talking about. Offcourse its not how Hillary feels about it , dimwit. It's about how the majority of the Hillary supporter take it. According to the exit polls in this year's primaries, more hillary supporters wouldn't vote for obama if he were the nominee than obama supporters would vote of hillary if she was the nominee. That means Obama has alot of work to do and a little mistake can cause a huge impact. For example when he talked about working class voters before the Pennsylvania Primary, how they get bitter, they cling to their guns and religion. Now that the primaries is over, he has to focus on gaining those supporters inorder to beat John McCain on those states he is gauranteed to win. Obama probably lost a few primaries cuz of a few mistakes such as those comments and attending a controversial church for 20 years. Another mistake won't cost him a another primary cuz it's over, it will probably cost him an election.

I voted for Clinton and I was a strong Clinton supporter, but unlike many of the people posting garbage on this blog, I accept that Clinton lost fair and square. Those people who think posting all this nonsense about how bad Obama is and how the election was stolen from Hillary are doing her a disservice. But in all honesty, it was Hillary who encouraged it and I have lost a lot of respect for her and especially for her not condoning the behavior of people like bubbles and other posters here that continue to spread hatred. I'm sorry to say this, but if bubbles were a man, then we would be calling her childish, but because she is a woman, somehow it is ok. I don't think I will support Clinton again, and I will certainly have second thoughts for supporting the next woman who makes a run for president. At the very least, she will have to promise not to allow another incident like what has happened here with Hillary in order for me to get her support. I know you will call me sexist and everything else, but you ladies need to learn to behave and accept Hillary's loss and move on. Honestly, you women have more rights than men nowadays because no way would a man get a way with wreaking havoc on these blogs like you all are doing. GROW UP.

Yes, you can. I don't know why certain sectors of the population think they are exempt from paying their fair share of taxes. Tricke down economics doesn't work. Thanks to Republicans we now have an eleven trillion dollar debt, and a weak dollar. The weak dollar is the reason we have to pay more for gas.
Republicans don't know whow to run the economy. All they ever do is transfer our tax dollars to corporations who then ship our job overseas. I'm tired of Republicans, their economic policies and their propaganda.
I voted for Hillary in the primary but now I support Obama. I will vote Democratic up and down the ticket.

Any of the Democratic candidates would be a better President than John McCain. Now that the Democrats have a nominee, It's very important not to screw things up! Obama talked about reuniting the party but cleary hiring someone that was dropped from the Clinton Campaign sends out a negative message. The General Election won't be won based on important issues such as the ongoing war, inflation, gas prices and the recession. This Election will be based on whoever the majority of the Hillary supporters vote for. 18 million votes up for grabs. It will be a no-win situation for Obama if Patti Solis Doyle is responsible for choosing someone for V.P other than Hillary. Now I'm not implying that Obama should be forced to pick Hillary as his running mate. He should choose whoever he wants to run with from the heart. But this move definately sends a negative message to the Hillary Supporters.

He doesn't even have a VP yet and he is hiring a VP chief of staff that Mrs Clinton fired. I am new to blogging and until this year did not care about politics, so forgive me if iask stupid questions. I thought blogging would be fun. Talking to other people with different opinions. But it seems it is more name calling than anything else. 1) I never saw Obama say anything sexist about Clinton and He never said she should drop out of the race. Why do Clinton supporters hate him for something he never did? 2) does anyone know for sure why Doyle got fired? I know she was blamed for the failures of the Clinton Campaign, but should not have that been Mark Penn? I saw him on the news a couple of times. He even looked zleasy. I wonder if she was fired because she was trying to tell Clinton that she needed to make some changes. Sometimes it is easier to fire someone if they do not agree with you than listen to their advise. It also makes me wonder about the democratic party when alot of the awful rumors and lies about Obama were started by democratics. I am really, really disapointed with my countrymen. It is really hard to be "PROUD" of my country when people act like neanderthals!!!

HRC quoted the exact same stuff they were saying on MSNBC as far as who Barak was having trouble attracting as voters- White working class voters- that was a statistical fact- she did not say that only whites work hard. Have you looked at the Clinton's history? Do you remember the 90s? Civil rights is a major part of the Clinton agenda-
The stealing furniture and other BS- straight off of FOX. Whatever- repeat 3 second sound bites- that's what got the USA where it is today- too many of us are impatient and revel in our ignorance. Or our mysogyny- ever thought about why you hate her so much? She really has not done any more than any other politician. If you need me to find equivalent actions from McCain or Obama or any of the others to anything you can paste on her, I can walk you through it- but basically it comes down to hating a powerful woman...momma issues- perhaps you can find someone to talk about it with and you would be less angry.

People who are still continuing to support Clinton have no integrity. How can you vote for someone who stole furniture from the White House and defamed women who were sexually assaulted by her own husband. Yep, a real feminist indeed. What a joke. The real racists are Bill and Hillary Clinton who want black people to be seen but not heard. She lost because she was a lousy candidate with shifting messages...she had no principles or a core vision for why she was running. It was "I'm Queen Hillary and I need to be anointed"...yeah that didn't turn out so well. Obama and McCain aren't perfect, but at least they have some moral high ground to run for the presidency. What exactly did HRC have? And no, she was never more "experienced" than Obama, and if her failed health care plan was an indicator of "experience", the Democrats did themselves a big favor by preferring Obama.

I keep hearing the Clinton supporters need to grow up but putting Solis Doyle on the payroll of the Obama campaign makes them look petty, arrogant or completely out of touch with her supporters. Clinton Dems can afford to overtly express and act out their anger but a future president can not.

I supported Hillary Clinton for President. As an independent voter I find both the Democratic and Republican parties lacking. All this talk of unity for the Democrats takes away from voters making an intelligent choice based on the candidates themselves.
I see Obama as a mirror image of George Bush. Both have father issues that led to poor decisions/associations. Bush ran on being a uniter not a divider saying the problem was with the Washington insiders. Obama says the same thing. Bush was naive in invading Iraq and Obama is naive in his willingness to meet with the likes of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Bush attracted the far right of his party. Obama attracts the far left of his party. Just as the Bush presidency has been a disaster so would an Obama presidency at best.
Obama is passive-aggressive; he uses misdirection and is duplicitous on an Orwellian level. Obama would be dangerous as president. While there are many issues on which I disagree with McCain I will support him putting my own self interests aside for the greater good of the country.

Most of these posts are petty or malicious. The infighting within the Democratic Party is self-destructive. That said, it was a heavy-handed move on the part of the Obama campaign to name Solis Doyle to work with the to-be-named VP, if only because it set off this firestorm.

I'm calling people idiots who don't get that the 18 million of us feel just as loyal as the 18 million of you. He did not win some overwhelming victory or unite the party in some way- he won more delegates by playing politics- and that is ok- unless you spend your time telling me that my opinion is somehow less valid than yours- which has been a major premise in the Obama campaign (for example saying HRC should get out in February-before she won Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania (7 of the 10 largest states- and the Georgia and NC will be voting Republican as they always do in the generals).
His move today- to name the chief of staff for his not yet chosen VP who is someone who is on the outs with HRC is obnoxious and childish. Much of his campaign was based on not being her. If he hates the inside DC game so much, how is he hanging around Kerry, Kennedy and Daschle- who spent about 80 years in the Senate if you add up all of their terms? All the "old school Washington" was code against her. The right wing spent 16 years building animosity toward her and he played it. Now, however, he does need the 18 million of us, so he ought to play a little nicer.

You have "put in over 1,000 hours" researching Obama?
What do you do for a living? DO you have a regular 40-hour a week job?
I consider myself a political junkie, and I would say that I have enough free time to spend anywhere from 1 to 3 hours a day researching politics. That's research on ALL politics, including global politics.
At that rate, in order for me to "put in 1,000 hours" of research on Obama, I'd need to research Obama ONLY, EVERY single day for over 15 consecutive months!
Let's say you put in a solid 40 hours a week studying politics. You'd have to do that for 25 straight weeks, studying Obama ONLY, in order to reach the 1,000 hour figure.
Let's say you are mainlining politics, literally 24 hours a day WITHOUT taking breaks to urinate or even eat. You'd die, obviously... but if you could do it for 41.6 days, you'd reach your aforementioned "1,000 hours."
Suffice it so say I find your claim dubious, so I'm calling you out.

And please- if you're not from NY- don't tell me about HRCs Senate seat. It is very safe- remember, she won here, since it is a populous state where we have primaries and all the Dems gets to vote to select their nominnee- not a bunch of fickle independents who jump on a different bandwagon every 4 years, not a bunch of wealthy caucus goers who represent only a small fraction of a population, mostly in red states. Nope- we all vote here and we mostly like our senator a lot- she had over 60% of the vote and she didn't run against Alan Keyes- who I can beat in a fair election.
Again get your focus off of HRC. Todays move shows that you all got nothing but the hate you built your whole campaign upon.
I'm voting for Barak- you better come up with something better.

Shannon, I am grown up, and am perfectly capable of making a decision without your telling me what I should do.
I've lived in Arizona for nearly 20 years, so am very familiar with McCain. I've never voted for him, never wanted to.
I think we all know everything there is to know about Hillary except the color of her underwear, so when the primaries first started I spent my time looking into Obama.
Everyone has the right to choose their candidate, so I'm not going to try to get anyone to agree with my choice. I'll just say that I've put in over 1,000 hours researching Obama and I'll be voting for McCain.
Anyone who wants the long and ever-growing list of why I rejected Obama is free to ask and I will answer. I suspect many of you are going to start seeing some of those reasons this week.
To me -this is not about Hillary, this is about putting country before Party. I don't think Obama is evil, but I've never been so terrified of a candidate in my life.

Look Idiots-
I am a leftist and an activist and have been far more involved with this party- particularly the left leaning candidates (Jackson, B. Kerry, Gore and Clark) for president from 84 to the present.
I supported HRC because she had the most ambitious progressive policy agenda and could drive it through.
Don't you dare tell me that I am a Rush Limbaugh follower. Many Obamites are much more likely to have voted for Bush or not voted at all in the last few elections than Clintonistas. You are the MTV attention 5-second attention spanners who haven't noticed that he does not elucidate policy when he says "change". He talks in broad strokes and changes his mind frequently. Look up his free trade policy speeches- they are all over the place just since his 2003 run for senate. His voting record during the 2 years he did vote was moderate and he avoids potentially controversial votes.
I am 37 and have been with the party since I was 13- the only Mondale supporter (even in a public JHS in NYC) in my class. You have made me uncomfortable in my own "home"- so after I vote, and maybe volunteer (his prixxxy move today really turned me off)- I will probably be leaving this loser party. For all our sake, I hope he wins, not because he is qualified, he is a glorified state senator with no ambitious record or policies to speak of- but because this country can't tolerate any more right wing rule.
Stop insulting the Clintonites- it is not helping anyone. You got your guy through an archaic rule system and surpressing the revote in MI and FL by killing the bills in the legislatures- now work on Bush. Shut up about HRC.

The Hispanic voter does not vote for politicians solely because they are brown, unlike blacks. I could care less if Obama adds Mrs. Solis to his campaign. I'm voting for McCain because I believe that our government cannot function properly if one party controls the Presidency and the Congress. As a Catholic, I believe in the sanctity of human life. As far as the War is concerned, I believe that McCain will more effectively use the military and succeed where GW did not. We will leave Iraq on our terms. Barack will not be able to pull out any sooner. The Democrats are using the War as a political issue - why else would they have continued to fund the war?

Because the clinton way is to bully your way to whatever you want. it doesn't matter who you step on as long as you win. So, while these poor losers seeth with their entitlement, the majority of the Democratic party said no more clintons. Obama is the face of the Democratic party and the clintons are the history book that has already been written.

WHY OBAMA SHOULD BE PRESIDENT:
1) Because it's time to put a young sharp mind in the white house instead of an old foggie.
2) Because it's time for us to have a president that will actually fulfill the promises he makes to the citizens of this country and not use the white house to carry out his own personal agenda.
3) Because we need someone in the white house who cares about ALL of the people and not just a select group.
4) Because the US is made up of all races of people and it's time for the office of the president to reflect this.
5) Because the white house obviously needs CHANGE!! It needs something it's never had before. Obama is that change!!

Senator Obama and his campaign strategists once again show their arrogance and disrespect toward the 18 million men and women who supported Senator Hillary Clinton. He may think he can simply win the general election without Ohio and Florida, but he sure can't win it without the 54% of the American general electorate (women) one-half of which are not pleased (but p ---sd) over this latest example of why he shouldn't be President! Dear Obama Supporters,

Did you vote for Mondale? Dukakis? Gore? Kerry? Guess what - they all lost!
From the hatred you display, you did not vote for Bill Clinton and George W. Bush! Guess what - Both won two terms each!
To make it worst - Obama is BLACK, Muslim, and Kenyan. If he wins - OSAMA BIN LADEN will be sleeping in the Lincoln bedroom.
According to OBAMA - we are all bitter poor, uneducated Americans, who do not support him.
But watchout - we will stand in a queue for six hours to vote for McCain, rain or shine. That's a promise!
Just to defeat OSAMA / OBAMA. He can not make us change our way of life

Poor and Unemployed is "our" way of life? Well you can keep it. I refuse 4 more years of Bush, and I refuse to cast a ballot for a 26 year Senator who has no idea even how our own economy works. That's being poor and unemployed. Well my friend you are the one who seems bitter, poor, uneducated with that stupid a$$ comment you posted. Yes, I voted for all of the above including Clinton twice. Do us a favor and stay home. You probably don't have a voter registration card anyway so cares who you vote for in your mind.

Senator Obama is going to bring about change in multiple good ways. Here are just a few great examples:
1. The Change in Taxes: Senator Obama's tax plan will help lower-to-middle income families by giving them more of a tax break. In contrast, Senator McCain's plan favors the rich - which is a common Republican tactic. Obama will help regular families more than McCain will. You can read about it here on CNN's money site:
http://money.cnn.com/2008/06/11/news/economy/candidates_taxproposals_tpc/?postversion=2008061111
2. Obama and Republicans: Senator Obama is working well with Republicans and he's drawing endorsements from them too. Obama created an excellent initiative with Republican Senator Lugar, which stops the proliferation of weapons. And, many Republicans are turning away from McCain because they know he's just Bush 2.0. Here's a story that shows this point:
http://www.newsweek.com/id/107476
3. Unity in America: Senator Obama's historic bid for the White House is showing this great nation and the world - that we can get beyond divisive ideas of culture and race. Read this interesting CNN.com article to hear more about it:
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/06/04/obama.history/
Senator Obama can help bring good change to this nation - in many ways. Let's help him to stop McCain's continuation of Bush's policies. We don't need another 4 years like we've already had with Bush.

BTW, it is illegal for one candidate to "pay off" the campaign debt of another...the best Obama could have done would be to go out and fundraise for Richardson. Nice try though.

These attacks against Senator Obama make me realize that these extreme-Republicans are desperate. If they actually had ANY pride in their candidate - they'd be touting McCain's so-called good qualities - but instead they can only sensationalize Senator Obama's name. I have to say - it seems very "middle-school" to attack someone for their name. If that's the best they can do - then it shows that have little ammunition. The thing is, we all have unique names - that's what makes this nation great - our diversity. So we cannot allow ourselves to be divided by some Republican scoundrels that can't take pride in their own candidate.
We must rise above their divide-and-conquer tactics and rally around the real winner in this election - Senator Obama. He has made history because he has a unique set of qualities, which will make him a great president. Let's help the Democrats and Senator Obama this fall.
You can help create this change by volunteering with your local Democrats group, or donating some dollars to Senator Obama's campaign, or advocating on the Democrats' behalf. We have to join together to stop Bush's buddy - John Sydney McCain. We can do it - Yes we can!

Look, Hillary and Bill rode dirty during the nomination fight, from New Hampshire all the way to North Carolina, where the good folks sealed the deal to Obama. And you Clintonistas think Obama should reward Senator Clinton for what again? Y'all are stupid!
Obama is the nominee and can choose his running mate as he pleases. Stop whining -- Hillary lost with the inept help of Mark and Bill. Of course, Senator Clinton pulled some pretty ugly boo-boos herself, but she won't take blame. If Senator Clinton really wanted to talk to Patti Solis Doyle (who was paraded around like a Latina chihuahua until right before Texas), Senator Clinton knows where to find her. So stop crying like babies and suck it up!
