Pastor Who Officiated at Jenna Bush Wedding Launches Pro-Obama Website

By Krissah Williams
Sparks are flying in the 2008 culture wars.

The Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell, leader of the largest Methodist congregation in the country, launched a website yesterday titled "James Dobson Does Not Speak For Me." The site is a jab at Dobson, a stalwart of the religious right who this week called Sen. Barack Obama's interpretation of the Bible in a 2006 speech distorted "to fit [Obama's] own world view, his own confused theology."

Caldwell's site launched a day after Dobson's Focus on the Family radio program aired a harsh assessment of Obama's speech on faith and public policy and encourages readers to sign a statement declaring that Dobson does not represent them.

"I think it's a crime and a shame that Senator Obama has had to explain the fact that he's a Christian," Caldwell said in a recent interview. "Criticize his politics. Criticize his stance on whatever, but don't question his faith. Never in the history of American politics has someone said that he is a Christian and someone came back to say, 'No you're not.'"

If Rev. Caldwell's name sounds familiar, it may be because he is the same Rev. Caldwell who introduced President Bush at the 2000 Republican National Convention and last month officiated at Jenna Bush's wedding ceremony at the presidential ranch in Crawford. This election Caldwell is firmly in the Obama camp and doggedly trying to help the campaign bring other pastors and parishioners along.

Caldwell's site encourages readers to sign this statement:

James Dobson doesn't speak for me.

He doesn't speak for me when he uses religion as a wedge to divide;

He doesn't speak for me when he speaks as the final arbiter on the meaning of the Bible;

...What does speak for me is David's psalm celebrating how good and pleasant it is when we come together in unity;

Micah speaks for me in reminding us that the Lord requires us to act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with Him;

...These words speak for me. But when James Dobson attacks Barack Obama, James Dobson doesn't speak for me.

The site also provides a side-by-side transcript of Obama's Call to Renewal speech and Dobson's critique.

Caldwell is not an official surrogate for the Obama campaign, but has for months participated on a weekly Friday morning prayer call with members of Obama's staff and other Christian ministers who dial in from across the county.

Caldwell, who oversees the 14,000-member Windsor Village United Methodist Church in Houston, said he personally prayed with Obama before the Texas primary and talks regularly with Joshua DuBois and Paul Monteiro, the young staffers overseeing the campaign's religious outreach.

The campaign has indicated recently that it will aggressively pursue religious voters, and Obama met with 30 evangelical leaders earlier this month, including the Bishop T.D. Jakes and the Rev. Franklin Graham (son of the Rev. Billy Graham), for an off the record Q & A session. And the campaign is reportedly working on a broad outreach to young evangelicals that it calls "The Joshua Generation."

CBN reporter and blogger David Brody, who has been following the role of faith in the campaign closely, has suggested that Obama will struggle to win over many traditional Evangelicals but has a shot with younger Christians. "Clearly there are differences between Obama's more progressive views of Christianity and the conservative viewpoint. It's important to remember that while Obama will attract some conservative Evangelicals, Obama's main goal is to win over moderate Evangelicals," Brody wrote on his blog. "Also young conservative Evangelicals seem more open to Obama's 'Christian' message of caring for the poor, fighting genocide, healthcare for all, and climate change. They also like the fact that he is reaching out to try and find common ground with conservative faith voters."

For his part, Caldwell, who still considers Bush a personal friend, said he sees similarities between the President and Obama that may appeal to religious voters.

"They are both loyal to their God. They are very loyal to their country. They are very loyal to their wives and their families," Caldwell said. "They are great husbands and great dads. Both of them have a clear understanding of the role that the families play in the community."

Will that be enough for Obama to siphon off some of the heavily Republican evangelical vote, which went overwhelmingly to Bush in 2000 and 2004? If Dobson is any indication, skeptics remain.

I feel that Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell has turned his back on God (if he knew him to start with) and is now following a man, Barrack Obama.

The website, James Dobson Doesn't Speak For Me, is very deceptive and full of half truths and misleading statements about both men, that's very sad. I wonder, if Obama was white, would Caldwell be so quick to abandon Christian convictions to support Obama?

Posted by: John | July 1, 2008 2:19 PM | Report abuse

hypocritical is anyone who supports murder on one end of the spectrum but not the other. most republicans hate abortion but love the death penalty. any bible i have ever read espouses the sanctity of life by protecting children (which includes unborn children), but also espouses that the Messiah died for our sins so that we won't have to. that includes all sin including murder, with the exceptions being blasphemy and self-murder. (we cannot ask forgiveness of self-murder if we are dead...) in the eyes of our Creator, murder is murder, whether it be in the womb or out of the womb, and we are commanded not to partake of that sin.

I'm pleased Dobson helped get the word out that Obama is a self-proclaimed Christian.

Obama's speech is 2 years old. Dobson only brought this up now to avoid discussing his friendship with Ted Haggard, a gay man minister that was buying drugs and sex from a male prostitute.
http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5iNSsiRhqa7bQlrClUE4-XRPgR-kwD91FFCB00

The weekend Ten returned to town, Dobson went after Obama.

Dobson's previously said "Ted has been my close friend and colleague for many years...He will continue to be my friend even if the worst allegations prove accurate."

http://www.denverpost.com/ci_4597813

Dobson went on the attack only to avoid public scrutiny from fellow conservatives about his own personal friendship. (Have you seen any ariticles asking Dobson if he has yet to denounce his friend? I haven't.

Instead of attacking - Dobson should remind Christians how they should reserve their judgement of others.

Hurry up Republicans, the Titanic is sinking. Excellent job of destroying your party and the country in just eight short years, but it is time to jump off the boat now and watch the rest of us try to stop it from going down. Of course you'll stand there while we do so and yell scary stuff at us and tell us we're gonna die if we don't do it your way, but we'll manage. We know now, up is down, down is up, good is bad, stupid is smart and, if you just repeat a falsehood enough times, it becomes true. We get it.

Stop living scared. Stop supporting people who don't support you. Stop the madness. Stop being a Republican.

What does all of this talk about religion have to do about what is going on in the USA and the world? We have troops in the middle east putting their lives on the line everyday, housing woes, high auto gas prices that increase daily, high food prices, etc etc. Forget about these religions zealots until they can come up some with world solutions. Until then, why should they matter in any discussions?

On what authority does Dobson and the evans get to dictate how we live our lives, what we believe in our faith, who we vote for and place in the WH? Last time I checked, I have a mind of my own and as such, can see these whackjobs haven't been doing such a great job the last 8 years have they? They have led the planet and our country to destruction. They piss on the poor, disabled and less fortunate. They are greedy, rich bastards preying on ordinary persons, and they love to start wars for world domination of resources. This is Biblical? This is what Jesus teaches? I don't think so. I don't know what God they worship, but it's not the same as mine. Time for a real man of the faith to rule...

A eprson's faith shouldn't be a prerequisite for the Presidency either. We're not a theocracy...cheryl

Since when do the conservatives get to define what Christianity is and what Christianity is not.

The last time I checked, the teachings of Jesus seemed rather liberal.

Does a conservative have proof that God or Jesus is against a woman's right to choose?

He seems to be willing to say anything to get elected. Liberals like Obama want their cake and to eat it too. Not sure if Rev. Caldwell is singing out of the same tired hymnal or not. I hope for his sake, and for America's, he is not.

As I wrote to the folks at the JamesDobsonDoesntSpeakForMe website:

"For some time I have been heartsick because of the way Dobson and his ilk have hijacked the Gospel for their own narrow agenda. While I might understand his concern that the family is under attack, his solutions are way too simplistic. Moreover, his take-no-prisoners, "I've-got-the-only-hotline-to-God" tactics are reprehensible.

I think when non-Christians view the behaviors of Dobson et al, the cause of the Gospel is actually impeded. While I am not personally a conservative-evangelical, I worship with many who are, and I see the love of Christ being made manifest in their lives. I also see the love of Christ being made manifest in the lives of many Christians who are obviously not conservative-evangelical. I even see Christ-like behavior in the lives of many non-Christians. While I am no universalist, I think the kingdom of God has many mansions and is far more inclusive than Dobson et al can even begin to imagine. I expect that when we get to heaven, we'll be in for a big surprise to discover who is there, and who is not. One thing certainly is true: God will judge us, not James Dobson, and for that we may all be happy and relieved."

I am truly blessed to be an American citizen, a registered voter, and an overseas contractor. I will proudly cast an absentee ballot for one of the Presidential hopefuls that demonstrates he is capable of ending America's occupation of Iraq and would implement a plan that would make our nation less dependent on foreign oil. I am comfortable with both candidates' personal religious beliefs and "personal family values." Here the operative word is "personal." Both profess to be Christians. Great! Having to prove their faith to anyone except God is unChristian. Let's move on to issues that define superior leadership. The candidate that is willing to protect and uphold the U.S. Constitution will be the better President. Why? Because everything that I hold dear is protected in that document, including "freedom of religion." Yes, I want the next President to be a praying man led by Godly principles. Yet I know he won't be perfect. Christ's own words admonish us, "he without sin, let him cast the first stone." The candidate that I support will demonstrate that he will be in touch with the American people and in communion with God. If the next President is willing to do this, he will be led by Godly principles and he will do the right thing for America. Lastly, know that our forefathers, when drafting the Constitution, remembered the tens of thousands killed in Europe when Church and State intermingled their affairs. When religious leaders ruled States, religious intolerance won the day. Our forefathers also remembered that some of the first European colonists arrived on our shores to escape religious intolerance. They sought freedom of religion in the New World. Our forefathers brilliantly drafted a Constitution that separated Church and State in matters involving govermment. They actually applied the lessons learned in Europe. There were some horrible lessons of "Christian inhumanity to other Christians, Jews, and people of other faiths." Here we are over 225 years later attempting to introduce religious intolerance into government. If the Pilgrims or the Puritans sailed from Europe today for religious freedom, their destination might not be the U.S. The intolerance of the evangelical movement would scare them away! For the record, I am a "born again" follower of Christ.

I've often wondered why there aren't more comments absout John's service in Vietnam. It's a fact that he told the enemy what carriers were used, what battle tactics were used, and many other details about war tactics in VietNAM while a prisoner. Don't forget that his father was top man of the naval forces in VietNam which made the VietCong very happy that they had a prisoner of this level. They published the above info to demoralize us.
After returning from the war, he worked very hard to pass a bill through congress to stop any further investigations or comments from POWs. The question is why. I think the answer is obvious.
Dumping his wife after her disfiguring accident while he was imprisoned is another issue.

If you want to talk about the Bible, Read using a Strong's concordance, and the commentaries of the last 500 years, you just might learn something. Now, about Obama, stop worrying, the President is a yes man for Congress. They run the country. Bush went into Iraq with the consent of the Coungress, which was mostly republicans, Ah yess, our yes man has spoken. History repeats itself. Remember Kennedy (JFK)? The Congress was democrats at the time. Now there is a statement here, but can you see it? Kennedy stood up to the Socialist And the Dems had him removed. Robert couldn't be controlled either, They got a musslim to do him in. Someone is pulling strings, wonder which fat cat that is. Ed Kennedy watched and learned, but he was framed with a dead pregrant woman. Was he supposed to die too? When he didn't, bribery works wonders doesn't it. Obama's preacher was partly right, but applied the wrong color of skin. Skin has nothing to do with anything, because God said that if the government didn't obey him, then the people would suffer. Don't worry about dead preachers, that is God's department. For more than 200 years the USA lived as it should, fighting only when it was attacked. England suffered at the hands of our forefathers at God's will. Read the religious histroy of that country of those times, you might see something. Every war since WW2 has been money wars. Now, go figure.

"Indeed, the majority of great reformers in American history were not only motivated by faith, but repeatedly used religious language to argue for their cause. So to say that men and women should not inject their "personal morality" into public policy debates is a practical absurdity. Our law is by definition a codification of morality, much of it grounded in the Judeo-Christian tradition" (A Call to Renewal).
"And in its historical struggles for freedom and the rights of man, I was able to see faith as more than just a comfort to the weary or a hedge against death, but rather as an active, palpable agent in the world. As a source of hope" (A Call to Renewal).
Tom: The only source of Hope is God, and understanding His will. Hope is not an agent of the world, it is the hope of the resurrection, and standing only in the first.

"But kneeling beneath that cross on the South Side, I felt that I heard God's spirit beckoning me. I submitted myself to His will, and dedicated myself to discovering His truth" (A Call to Renewal).
"Democracy demands that the religiously motivated translate their concerns into universal, rather than religion-specific, values. It requires that their proposals be subject to argument, and amenable to reason. I may be opposed to abortion for religious reasons, but if I seek to pass a law banning the practice, I cannot simply point to the teachings of my church or evoke God's will. I have to explain why abortion violates some principle that is accessible to people of all faiths, including those with no faith at all" (A Call to Renewal).
Tom: Wrong again, there is a true Religion, but few know it today. It's in the Bible, but you seldom hear it in the church. As far as abortion goes, He dodged the subject, and it is fact that God's Will, will be followed always, none can enter the promised land by disobeying it, regardless what you may be trying to explain.

"If we scrub language of all religious content, we forfeit the imagery and terminology through which millions of Americans understand both their personal morality and social justice. Imagine Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address without reference to "the judgments of the Lord." Or King's I Have a Dream speech without references to "all of God's children." Their summoning of a higher truth helped inspire what had seemed impossible, and move the nation to embrace a common destiny" (A Call to Renewal).
Tom: Obama, I hope you are as the men you recite here, know also that being ½ or ¾ will not cut it with God. They understood that, and I hope you do too, for this country's sake as well as your own.

"Of all the rocks upon which we build our lives, we are reminded today that family is the most important. And we are called to recognize and honor how critical every father is to that foundation... But if we are honest with ourselves, we'll admit that what too many fathers also are is missing - missing from too many lives and too many homes. They have abandoned their responsibilities, acting like boys instead of men. And the foundations of our families are weaker because of it" (Father's Day Speech, Apostolic Church).
Tom: Jesus Speaking; "Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:" The key to everlasting life is in Jesus' saying, "these words of mine!" Throughout the New Testament, the final, ultimate and exclusive authority in true religion is the word spoken by Christ. Jesus commanded the church to teach "whatsoever I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:20). He declared that the words he spoke would judge men at the last day (John 12:48). The true religion was "first spoken" by Christ (Hebrews 2:3). "Whosoever goeth onward and abideth not in the teaching of Christ, hath not God (2 John 1:9). Apostles warned that men ought to learn how "not to go beyond the things which are written" (1 Corinthians 4:6). "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly" (Colossians 3:16), Jesus said, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away" (Matthew 24:35). The most important fact to know with reference to Christianity is that it is "of Christ"! Not even the apostles were commissioned to go beyond the word of Christ. Even the reception of the Holy Spirit in their hearts was not for the purpose of imparting additional truth but for bringing to their remembrance the things Christ taught (John 14:26). The current notion that any man in whom the Holy Spirit is supposed to dwell may properly determine the true nature and content of Christian doctrine is emphatically denied in the affirmation of Christ that, even in the apostles, the Holy Spirit did not speak "of himself." "For he shall not speak from himself; but what things soever he shall hear, these shall he speak ... for he shall take of mine, and shall declare it unto you" (John 16:13-15). "Wise man who built his house upon the rock."
The "rock" is nothing more nor less than "these words of mine," namely, the words of Christ. Matthew 7:26-27, is a recapitulation, in the negative, of what was stated immediately before. The focus of attention here should be upon the revelation of what the true rock actually is, namely, the words or teachings of Christ. This is the point so many seem to miss. There is no other in the world.

Why does religion have to be thrown into politics. One of the things we enjoy in the United States is the freedom to be part of any faith we want. Although there are some things that are part of both, letting them divide us when our country is in such trouble could destroy us. Our government is infected with criminals that will do and say anything for money and power. Most of the public is kept in the dark, because these same people own all of the main stream media stations. People in Europe are just starting to understand what is going on with the consolidation, and the tossing out of their constitutions, and governments being replaced by one ruling party. This is all being done under the disguise of a treaty that no one can understand. When the leaders of Ireland asked, why can't we understand it, they were told the treaty was written out in two seperate books and you had to read from both of them to understand it, and no one gets a full copy until you sign. It sounds like communism to me. You Tube has footage from all over Europe, check it out. I don't know if Obama is the answer but McCain is not.

I love that every election cycle the right-wing Kool-Aid drinkers like Scott label everyone that is left of Cheney a "Communist." Obama's Mother is a communist? Are you serious? If you are going to make an argument about this subject, you should first know the differences between what actually defines the socio-economic structure that you are trying to slander. I'm talking about how things work, benefits, problems inherent to each system. I am anti-communist because I believe that it breeds collective mediocraty rather than collective elevation of society. To make this determination you must have an understanding of the systems beyond "X" is good and "Y" is bad because Rush and Kristol say so. Obama is no Communist or even a socailist for that matter. Even if he was it would be better than the shift closer Fascism that the GOP has shown in the past decade. If you try to make an argument do your research and put down the Kool-Aid.

Scott wrote:
It does not take long to trace anything related to Senator Obama to extreme left thinking and communists, whether that be his father, his mother, uncle Frank, Bill Ayers and friends, or Black pseudo- theologists. He and a few other senators would nationalize business and socialize the nation as we become part of the "global economy". This same thinking infected the established protestant churches, major media, universities, unions, part of the catholic churches, Islamic extremists, and good part of most law schools. Senator Obama is a product of this thinking. He does not seem particularly bright or even in charge of his own destiny. He is merely a puppet handled by those who have been trying to destroy American self-interest and culture, independence, and the free enterprise system. Dobson is a well informed and well regarded conservative Christian leader. Being a Christian has lost its traditional meaning. You can only know the difference between the right and left Christians by their position on abortion. Obama spend twenty years in a church that preached "Choice." He rationalizes away much of the new testament Bible to support his politics, as do all of the left minded "Christians." Most Baptists and born again independent churches think very little about Protestant and Catholic politics disguised as religion. Dobson has the courage to call Obama on it.

Posted by: L8APEXER | June 27, 2008 3:15 PM | Report abuse

Dobson is an idiot, as many reasonable Americans have known for a long time. His idea of "strengthening families" is a crock of s**t when you consider that most of what he advocates is tearing down those who aren't carbon-copy Christian conservatives with a Baptist/Pentecostal view of religion...strong families do not always depend on being Christian or conservative or fundamentalist to BE strong families. In reality, Dobson's preferred way of "advocating for families" consists of stealing the resources and stealing the dignity of non-Christian, non-conservative, non-fundamentalist, non-white, non-straight Americans to support the privileged "main-stream" that already has monopolized much of America.

What would be good medicine for Dobson and his supporters is to be as viciously and strongly attacked for their beliefs as they have attacked those who don't share their views...let them slink back under their rocks and lick their wounds until they fester the rest of the way, since they have no room in their 'club'--which they would like to be all of America--for those who are different from them. But then again, the sound of Dobson's whiney voice and the intensity of his attacks on his various targets over the years leads me to believe that he's a closeted homosexual trying desperately to cover his tracks, and he's hoping fervently that no one finds out that he's intensely attracted to men of African descent from Muslim families...that's the ONLY POSSIBLE reason why he is so wired up about Obama, Obama's religion, and gays. I'm just waiting to hear about more stories from seedy side of Denver about MORE "fallen Christian conservative family men"...I'm quite sure that more familiar names--like "Dobson"--will crop up.

Both Sen. Obama and Dr Dobson have valid points, and we need to look past politics to appreciate them. Sen. Obama is spot-on when he talks about the Word of God as being the fundamental basis for change and advancement in the lives of people and their country. Dr Dobson has faced public ridicule and vilifaction to keep family issues front and center in or minds. Both men are grounded in the Bible. I remember, in my "unsaved" days, grinding my teeth at some of Dobson's remarks, but all the while, the still, small voice was saying, "yes, but what's wrong with 'family values'?" and "why should a woman have the 'right' to kill her baby?". Would that they could sit down and shed the mantles of "Republican" and "Democrat", look at each issue, and let the Bible -- the Word of God -- be the final arbiter. It's not a matter of imposing religion: it's a matter of leadership: standing for the Truth. Jesus is The Way, The Truth and The Life. No other belief system dares to make that claim. One should not sell out Truth for the sake of political expediency. Give me a politician willing to take EVERY issue (not just moral ones) before the Lord and stake his office on following that leading. Sen. Obama is right: we don't read our Bibles. If we did, we would know who is speaking the Truth and who is bending it or making it up.

Like thousands of other Americans, I left the USA (I was born in Iowa, the son of fourth generation Americans whose sons and daughters have fought in every war since the turn of the twentieth century) because of the lies, deceits, hypocrisy of George W Bush and his cronies. While I do not support Obama, I could never support McCain who is a harsher version of Bush and Dobson. I have lived abroad 5 years now and know the USA is definitely among the most hated nations on earth: despised for the butchery in Iraq, the extortion of the oil countries that have inflated oil prices, the arrogance of American tourists who believe their dwindling dollar value is god, and more. I had hoped to return to my native land, but race baiting and sexism is still alive and fluid. Dobson makes me ashamed that I was ever a Christian.

The sad thing about James Dobson is that does not seem to recognize actually that Barack Hussein Obama is his brother in Christ, however Dobson may disagree with Obama politically.

One would hope for greater depth and maturity of faith and theology in and from one so eminent.

It is regrettable how he and other such luminaries of the American landscape, yes, even dear beloved Billy Graham among them, are and have been so susceptible to appropriation to the American civil religion in contradistinction with their faith in Jesus in his Church.

This does not mean they have allowed themselves to be appropriated to Satan; it just means that the work of that faith in them is not complete, however much acclaim as seniors in it they may have attracted.

My understanding is that John McCain, for his part, is descended from a long line of Scots Presbyterians. (So was Andrew Jackson.) Perhaps that even more than his family's heritage of naval officers explains a lot about his storied temper and occasionally evident resources of vocabulary.

Dobson seems to feel Obama's comments were not a correct depiction nor correlates to this country's delimna about religion, religious views, and America's religious makeup. Obama is correct! His view is "Religious Folks" tend to believe America's policies are only reflect that of Christians and our views and everyone else's religion and views should be cast away. America was founded on the framework of FREEDOM-freedom to worship however you want, express your culture, freedom to choose what you do to your body (abortion), even freedom to criticize this country that 18-21 yr olds are shedding blood to defend. It makes more sense to embrace eveyone even if their views are not mine. Not to be preachy, but Jesus embraced adulterers, tax cheats, and non-believers more than "religous folks". Obama is secure in his faith, but he knows leaders have to respect others beliefs-even abortion and same -sex marriage-Let God work on their decisions, not policies. If God gives us will and freedom, who are we to create laws to prevent that? Obama is in favor giving people the power to choose. Dobson also says Obama is not for family-so Untrue! Obama has in several speeches spoke to parents to do a better job, he wants better helthcare for families & better economy for working americans(not just the wealthy), he takes time off from the campaign to spend with his wife and kids. Caldwell and true Christian know that we have been called to a RELATIONSHIP with God, not a religion! Dobson admitted on that same show he's not a preacher/minister, he's a psychologist. I felt it was very out of place for him to use the term 'fruitcake' nor did he give Obama benefit of doubt. The Race divide, income divide, education divide, age divide, NOW the Religious divide?! America, Christians, there's an order to all of this-but now is not the time to keep finding ways to keep us divided.

I actually met Dr. Dobson in Idaho before his politics took over his ministry to families in general and Christians in particular. I was walking to the arena in Boise on crutches with a freind (I'd spraied my ankle in a basketball game and was wearing a splint) when Dr. Dobson saw us and came over to ask what happened and if I needed any help. My freind jokingly told him my wife had been beating on me and it took a minute or two to convince him I'd injured myself and nothing other than that was wrong. He was genuinely concerned and walked with us to the main entrance door, got me a wheel chair and made sure we had good seats for his sermon. I can honestly say I'd never met a more concerened and caring individual who lived his faith and beliefs.

How I wish he would not have allowed politics to interrupt his ministry to families. It seems to me he is still passionate and caring, but has lost his message and ministry to families in the politics he now disseminates. I can only hope that one day soon he will return to his original calling and help families deal with the already too complicated issues they are now facing; rendering unto the politicians that which is political.

Jesus preached love, forgiveness, the clear difference between worldly power and spiritual life, the hypocrisy of human judgment of human failings, and the need to embrace our enemies as the expression of God's love. Jesus had no use for the moneychangers in the Temple, and reached out to the least of us with boundless love and compassion. These were the original Christian values.

By this set of criteria, provided by Jesus Himself, James Dobson hasn't the faintest idea about what being a true Christian entails. I would submit that, with his expressions of hatred, intolerance, and hypocrisy, along with his insistence that all parts of society must conform to his twisted vision of a theocratic state, Dobson isn't doing the Lord's work.

No, I'm afraid Dobson is working for the Other Side. And doing a mighty fine job, at that. Satan must be so pleased....

The comments that Obama will bring us down completely amaze and fascinate me. I want to talk with these posters and look them in the eye and very seriously ask them, "Have you seen where we are lately, economically and geopolitically?"
They cannot claim to know exactly what their fear is, other than they "know" Obama to "bring us down". But they don't critically examine where we are right now--oil is persistently rising, the dollar is persistently dropping, we are still in Iraq, we still don't have Bin Laden, we have eroded our civil rights here at home, we choose not to pay for infrastructure and instead are content to see ourselves die on the highways and bridges of this country over a few tax dollars, we are content to allow extremists to dictate educational requirements, etc. etc. This list could go one for days.
It doesn't get any clearer that McCain stands on the side of "the status quo" and Obama does not. It is time for the intellect to win out over brawn, it really is. If McCain wants to be in Iraq for a hundred years, make him go over there as military attache and let him strut his stuff. His comments are not fitted to a President as George W. Bush's comments weren't, either. We need a return to diplomacy, a return to civilization, and away from Emperialism.

No matter what my feelings may be, it's not for me to judge what's in his heart as far as his faith is concerned. That's something God, and only God knows. The reasons I would never vote for Obama are not his spiritual philosophies, but his political philosphies. I hear some confusion of what communism is. Communism is community society instead of free market. It means you don't anything and everything is equally distributed. The problem with communism is there is usely a dictator involved enforce this community mandate.
Obama is proposing tax fairness because in honest goodness poor people get tax more relative to the income they make. For instance if you make a billion dollars and is tax 33% you still have 777 million left. If you make 50 thousand and is tax 15% you have 45 thousand left that five thousand is worth a semester in college, a 5 months of mortage payments, or a years worth of rent. Obama's not nationalizing industry, he is instituting Tax fairness.

Dobson acts as if he is the final authority on Christian faith. I would be curious to know Dobson's view of the pope and Catholicism as well Islam. Dobson probably has very harsh words and ideas about Jews, especially surrounding their interpretation of Jesus.

When the theme of Obama.s campaign is to tax the rich and give the money to the poor, isn't that the communist way? You can work very hard and achieve some success and have it taken away to finance social programs. Sure sounds like socialism to me, so we can give the money to some people who wouldn,t work in a pie shop. After all, they get all sorts of subsidized money from the Government, from food stamps, low cost housing, heating assistance, etc. Why get a job?

Sounds like Republicans will just have to work harder, get out the big gun contributors, and get out the vote. On the other hand, if Obama is elected, and perhaps have a Democratic House and Senate, Katy bar the door, and God hekp us all.

Dear American Voters, reporters, media. professionals, political parties, and presidential Nominees,

Subject: Presidential Temperament

Please talk about and "Compare And Contrast" the " Presidential Temperament" of our Presidential presumptive nominees. I will also request and plead to the nominees themselves [ Hon. Senator McCain and Obama ].

Our nation has been applying this yard and stick tor the appointments and confirmation process of our Supreme Court Justices nominees.

Our Greatgrand Nation Foundations are as under:
Family, friends, fellows, faith, funds, fun, with fairness & freedom And without fear, favor, and failure.

It will be disgrace and shameful if the nominees and media will not look into this critical and crucial aspect under current challenges circumstances within our country and all around the Globe. America wake up and the " Presidential Temperament is the key.

Yours truly,
