At Appearance with Sarkozy, Obama Talks Tough on Iranian Nuke Program

Sen. Barack Obama urged Iran Friday to "end its illicit nuclear program" or face increased pressure from a unified international community, and he warned Tehran not to "wait for the next president" before accepting proposals to resolve a stalemate with Western countries.
His comments came at a joint news conference here after conferring with French President Nicolas Sarkozy. The Illinois senator said he found "uniform concern about Iran" in his meetings with leaders in the Middle East and Europe during a seven-country tour that concludes in Britain Saturday.
A day after a speech in Berlin before an estimated 200,000 people, Obama used the news conference to press his call for greater U.S.-European cooperation and to portray a possible Obama administration as one that would listen to its allies and seek consensus in dealing with problems, such as global warming, that require an international effort.
In response to one French reporter's question, Obama said he felt obliged to "remind everybody that I'm not the president," and he expressed support for "a wonderful tradition" in U.S. politics of not "criticizing a sitting president when you're overseas."
While noting that "it's very important that our foreign policy is presented with one voice," he said, "What I can say affirmatively is that an effective U.S. foreign policy will be based on our ability not only to project power, but also to listen and to build consensus."
Sarkozy offered praise that stopped just short of an endorsement. He said he found "a tremendous convergence of views" with Obama on issues including Iran, Middle East peace and climate change.

Re:
The Obama Campaign Trip has been a complete success in introducing Barack to many World Leaders an exporting American Good Will to our traditional allies. It also went to show in clear terms the Obama Administration will protect our Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. By emphasizing Fair Trade with the Rule of Law and Human Right was also the correct message. G'd Bless America.

Obama is possibly shoring up supports from the West for eventual moves against Iran. The Arabs have plenty of money, a fighting army is what they don't have. If Obama uses the US Army to corner Iran for the Arabs, it would be a disaster for everyone involved.
Obama is a liability.

I suspect we will see that picture or one like it again.

Sarcozy looks so damn good in that pic. He appears to be so happy. I wish Sarcozy was my friend if he agreed to have all conversations in English. No bugs. And earl grey tea, shakin not stirred.
Pete and Esther, you are spot on chap!

â–▂▃▄▅▆▇█ OBAMA - LEAHY '08 █▇▆▅▄▃▂â–
Obama can certainly handle foreign affairs, and with Leahy, we get to exfoliate the repugs. I support this combo because it drives the repugs to bleed out their discharge shoots in fear (Congressional investigations with Executive Branch teeth...)

OB is wrong on Iran.
There is a pack mentality going on in the Middle East with Iran and Israel being the two weak links.
It is plain that there is no real and unresolved issue between Israel and Iran.
Iran's behaviour toward Israel is nothing more than 'the appeasing the pack' behavior, motivated essentially by the fear. Fear that the pack may very well one day turn against and makes a meal out of her.
And what's better than by offering up Israel as the next best target?
There is no way Iran will give up on developing nuclear weapon without the assurance from the Arabs' world that they won't eat her, IMO.

It must be my diabolical mind, no doubt, but - does anyone else see the parallel with Pepin the Short (another one of those pesky Franks):
To the Pope: "Should he be king who has the power, or he who has the name ?"
In other words: "I might not be president of the United States - yet - but you'd better accept this proposal."

Obama has proved beyond doubt in Israel and AIPAC meeting that he is no more than a black slave of Zionist goons similar to Collin Powel, who had been used by Bush-Cheney gang to carry out all their dirty work.
Obama may do the same or more worst in rubbling Iran, Syria, Lebanon and of course Palestine.
I have written him to refund my campaign money and forget my vote until he stands up to the Zionist gang of war mongers, war criminals and merchants of deaths

On a recent trip to France, it became clear that the French citizenry is now cleary regretting their choice of Sarkozy. He was a fresh face, full of new ideas and seemed charasmatic to the people. Unfortunately, his presidency has been a disaster. So American should take notice that Obama is nothing but the same. All glitz and glamour, no substance and a loser.

How could he go to France and not bless the Brangelina Twins. What a disgrace.

So Sarkozy found "a tremendous convergence of views" with Obama on issues including Iran, Middle East peace and climate change.
But Americans still think that the warmongering McCain is somehow better on foreign policy...
What a nation of knuckleheads. This election shouldn't even be close.
If Einstein were a democrat and some republican hack were his classmate, conservatives would still be crying about favoritism in the press (or teaching staff). And they'd be belittling his intelligence, pointing out quite often that, well, you know, he is... um... jewish.

right on. we just need to let the american have unbridled access to the man and and thoughtfulness so they can get a clear sense of where we're headed. and one thing that never ceases to amaze me is that whenever he needs to step up to an occasion, he far surpasses it. i think that bodes quite well for the future.

Computer guy. You are probably going to close this thread because of lack of use. That's fine, it's a dead room. Right now, LaFeminazi has the best ideas on the net. I vote to track him or her down and put him or her into office. Help Uncle Pete!
