Post Politics Chat
I was live online earlier today as the guest for the daily politics chat on washingtonpost.com. Here's the link to the transcript if you missed it.
Here's a quick taste from the transcript:
Washington, D.C.: How do you think the governor's race in Virginia will go down?
Chris Cillizza: We are down to the home stretch in Virginia as you can tell if you look at the new ads by state Attorney General Jerry Kilgore.
Kilgore went up with new ads this week that feature two testimonials from people that had loved ones murdered. The ads question Kaine's opposition to the death penalty.
Kaine is up with a response ad claiming his personal opposition is a matter of his Roman Catholic faith but that he would uphold the laws of the state on the matter.
I have talked to a few Republicans who are jittery about the race, suggesting Kilgore's poll numbers are not moving in the right direction.

I never donate to political candidates, but Kilgore's ad has persuaded me to donate money to Kaine to refute his lies and mudslinging.

Is it just me or is a little disconcerting that a police officer's widow is exploiting her husband's death for a politician's political gain?
I find Kilgore's ads offensive and affront to everyone who is against the death-penalty - especially Catholics. It makes me think about the time when Kennedy was running and the questions about whether JFK was beholden to the pope as opposed to his country. I thought we were past that.

Do you think we are safe now that the FAA is not supplying controllers to many airports over night even though they have up commerial flights coming and going during those night hours. Are we waiting for more Lexington Kentucky's.
